Seeking help Macbook problem of restore EFI Firmware

Dear all,
Seeking for your help!
I clipped updated software..than it is processed the EFI Firmware v1.0, but the screen had changed to the intention of bright and light, the word is unclear in this situation and the color is bright...How can I solve this problem now?
I had tried to burn a EFI Firmware CD restoration (v. 1.3) according to guidance in website, when I turn on the power and insert the CD. However, it returns to Mac desktop and haven't processed the restoration.
I cannot identify the problem and how to solve it??
Anyone can help me?
THANKS!

Hi, does it eventually log in to the Desktop?
If 10.7.0 or later...
Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions.
Have you done a PRAM reset, CMD+Option+p+r...

    i cannot restore my ipad software i had download a new software on itunes but i couldnot download it on ipad or restore the old software and the problem is restoring ipad firmware

    Try and force iPad into Recovery Mode
    1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
    2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
    3.While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
    4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.
    Note: Data will be lost. You may have to repeat the above many times.

  • Unusual iTunes problem when restoring iOS firmware(s).

    As the topic says, I am having a very strange issue with iTunes and restoring iOS to not only my iPad, but also to my iPod Touch 2nd Gen. So far the only way I have been able to remedy the problem seems to be manually removing iTunes and all API's and/or Frameworks via Terminal; and then re-installing iTunes. For the last several months I have been using iTunes 10.1.1/2 and when I've had to restore my iPad, I have ran into the following problem:
    I put my device info DFU Mode to update and here is what happens, it extracts the software as usual and proceeds to restore. It gets nearly to the end of the restore, approximately 97-98% in iTunes, just before the Verifying Restore phase. And it simply hangs there, I have let the device sit for 10+ minutes and does not move. As I said, the only way I can fix it is to completely remove iTunes and re-install. And here is where things get even stranger yet.
    A day after I had previously restored, I had to restore again because the iPad AppStore would not open properly on my iPad, and also on the previous day I had uninstalled/re-installed iTunes. And the hanging problem once again occurred, I am not sure why, _*but it seems like every time I restart*_ my MacBook Pro something in iTunes becomes corrupted for some reason and the only way to resolve the issue is a(n) uninstall/reinstall of iTunes.
    If anyone has anything to add to help with, it would be much appreciated. Thank you.

    From iTunes: Specific update-and-restore error messages and advanced troubleshooting
    Error 20, 21, 23, 26, 28, 29, 34, 36, 37, and 40
    These errors typically occur when security software interferes with the restore and update process. Use the steps to troubleshoot security software issues to resolve this issue. In rare cases, these errors may be a hardware issue. If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service.
    Also, check your hosts file to verify that it's not blocking iTunes from communicating with the update server. See the steps under the heading "Blocked by configuration (Mac OS X / Windows) > Rebuild network information > Mac OS X > The hosts file may also be blocking the iTunes Store." If you have software used to perform unauthorized modifications to the iOS device, uninstall this software prior to editing the hosts file to prevent that software from automatically modifying the hosts file again on restart.

  • MacBook Air mid-2014 EFI Firmware 2.8 Hanging?

    Has anyone had an issue with their Macbook Air (mid-2014 or other) hanging on boot (Apple logo and spinner) after downloading and installing the 2.8 firmware update?
    I updated mine through Software Update. It's been sitting on that screen for at least 20 minutes now. I've tried rebooting and it just goes back to that screen.

    Thanks,

    Erasing the partition, reinstalling Mavericks, and restoring from Time Machine seems to have done the trick.  At least I wasn't bricked.  But I would recommend having a fresh backup before the little notification from System Update (yes, this update came through System Update) pops up.  Hopefully my experience is unique.

    You need to install the adobe flash player plugin.  Download only from the adobe flash player plugin download page.  Mount the downloaded dmg and launch the installer.  Check the agree to terms to enable the install button and then click the install button.
    Once installed, the next launch of your browser should allow you to play youtube videos and flash videos on other flash video sites.

  • PLEASE HELP - Big problem upgrading to Micro Firmware 2.11.02 (for Napster to

    Hey all,
    I have been viewing this forum since I got my Micro last December, and have thankfully never needed it before. But boy do I need it now.
    Today I was finally persuaded to give Napster to Go a try. I was running my Micro on firmware .02 (I had to get a replacement from Creative in March for a headphone jack problem, and it came with that firmware installed - everything worked great). So I went to try to to upgrade to 2..02 so I could connect with Napster. First I updated my computer to Windows SP2 (I am running XP Pro). Then I went and tried to install the firmware - it started doing it, and then said "Your player is not starting properly. Please reboot and try again." Or something like that. So I rebooted, through recovery mode, several times to no avail. So then I did a disk clean up, and ran a format disk, and finally "reload firmware" off the recovery menu.
    After running reload firmware (having downloaded the firmware update to my PC first), I tried again, and it started working, it was going through the process fine - my player said "updating firmware" and everything. Then, I got a "detected new hardware" message from Windows, and then the "Find New Hardware" wizard came up. I cancelled it, but then the firmware upgrade stalled. For like 5 minutes, no PC activity at all. So I finally shut it down manually. Then my computer wouldn't recognize the player, so I re-installed the drivers off the installation disk - still nothing. And now, when I try to install the firmware off my PC, it says "player is not connected." Worse, since my Micro seemingly now has no firmware at ll, it won't even shut down - it just keeps turning on and going to recovery mode unless I take the battery out.
    Please, please can anyone give me a fix for this. I would love to use Napster2Go, but at this point I would be happy just to get my Micro running again, on any firmware.
    Thanks in advance - PK

    Do you have Windows Media Player 0 installed? You might want to try the player on another Windows Media Player 0 PC and see if the player occur also.

  • Desperately seeking help. mod_jk problem with Apache 2.0.49 and Tomcat 4.1.

    Hi All,
    I am setting up the connection between Tomcat 4.1 and Apache 2.0.49 since past 3 days without success.
    I downloaded the
    JK 1.2
    JK 1.2 Binary Releases
    mod_jk_1.2.5_2.0.47.dll from apache site.(renamed it to mod_jk.dll as instructed). Now the problem is that after making the other settings in server.xml, httpd.conf,workers.properties
    My Tomcat does not show any error when i uncomment the following code
    <Connector className="org.apache.coyote.tomcat4.CoyoteConnector"
                   port="8009" minProcessors="5" maxProcessors="75"
                   enableLookups="true" redirectPort="8443"
                   acceptCount="10" debug="0" connectionTimeout="20000"
                   useURIValidationHack="false"
                   protocolHandlerClassName="org.apache.jk.server.JkCoyoteHandler"/>
    which is the code for mod_jk2. I don't understand this as I have download the file for JK1.2.
    I am getting the mod_jk.conf file generated but it is generated with the following code.
    <IfModule !mod_jk.c>
      LoadModule jk_module C:/Program Files/Apache Group/Apache2/modules/mod_jk.dll
    </IfModule>
    JkWorkersFile "C:/Program Files/Apache Group/Tomcat 4.1/conf/jk/workers.properties"
    JkLogFile "C:/Program Files/Apache Group/Tomcat 4.1/logs/mod_jk.log"
    JkLogLevel info
    <VirtualHost localhost>
        ServerName localhost
        JkMount /admin ajp13
        JkMount /admin/* ajp13
        JkMount /webdav ajp13
        JkMount /webdav/* ajp13
        JkMount /examples ajp13
        JkMount /examples/* ajp13
        JkMount /tomcat-docs ajp13
        JkMount /tomcat-docs/* ajp13
        JkMount /manager ajp13
        JkMount /manager/* ajp13
    </VirtualHost>
    AGAIN , here I fail to understand why it is generating the jk_module with forward slash.
    (I HAVE GIVEN THE ps=/ property in worker.properties)
    Once I add the path in quotes i.e.
    LoadModule jk_module "C:/Program Files/Apache Group/Apache2/modules/mod_jk.dll"
    I am able to start the apache server. but am failing in the connection test ie. not able to view the examples directory.
    Plz. advise me , I am really going crazy over this stuff.
    Thanks in advance,
    Vishy.

    I am confused, you need to pick modjk2 or modjk.
    I would not use a precompiled modjk2.dll , I have and had security problems.
    I would compile it from source. The instructions are in the source package.
    If you use modjk, your on the right steps, modjk is more difficult to setup. than modjk2.
    For modjk2 all you need is
    LoadModule jk2_module C:/Program Files/Apache Group/Apache2/modules/mod_jk2.dll
    and the workers2.properties in /conf directory, that's it.
    Tomcat 4 and above come 'stock' with ajp workers turned on port 8009.
    First make sure modjk is loaded in Apache.
    Make sure all 30 lines of error page is uncommented on http.conf
    You can do this by http://servername/SOMEbogusAddress
    just go to apache page, then try and load a non-existing page
    You should see at bottom of page:
    Apache/2.0.49 (Unix) mod_jk2/2.0.4

    How can i Flash and restore the firmware ( EFI ) from a Macbook pro ( late 2008 , 5.1 ) ??
    Please help me !!

    The Seagate backup drive I bought doesn't support 10.5.8
    The only reason I can see for that is it's formatted NTFS, which would likely be Read Only in 10.5.x, if you can reformat it MacOS extended, which would erase everything on it now, then that should work for your purposes.

  • Please Help! - MBP freezing after EFI 2.2 firmware update

    Hey guys. I'm hoping someone understands whats happening with my 2011 13" MBP (corei5, 4gb ram, 750 gig HDD)
    I updated the computer with EFI Firmware 2.2 and the most recent security update a few days ago.
    My computer will boot to my username fine.
    It immediately begins INDEXING (***!?) even though that obviously isn't needed.
    My HDD spins like crazy and I notice in activity monitor 3 things: Finder and MDWorker will user over 100% of my CPU, my RAM is completely used down to 3MB free, and my hard drive free space is going down slowly as i leave the computer on.
    Nothing will open, constant beach balls, the longer I leave the comp on the worse it gets.
    My fans will run on high to cool down the computer which is obviously working very hard.
    I have tried re-installing EFI 2.2 (didn't work), I have tried going back to 2.1 but Lion says its not compatible.
    I have re-set the PRAM, no luck.
    I have repaired disk permissions, no luck.
    The Guest account boots up fine
    The HDD is fine because it boots up in the same time as always and runs guest account fine, and my account for the first minute or two fine.
    Does anyone know WHAT IS GOING ON HERE? It's driving me nuts. Thanks for your help in advance.
    Dan

    My 2011 17" MacBook Pro was freezing up to 20 or more times a day after I installed the 2.2 firmware.  I created a new user account and even new partitions with 10.6.8 and 10.7.1 installed and they all would freeze with no other software installed.  I reset the SMC and PRAM.  Repaired the permissions and disk.  Nothing helped.
    Today I took it to the local Apple store (100 miles away lol) and of course they couldn't reproduce the problem in the limited time they had but they gave me a new machine so I can get back to work.  I'm still restoring from a backup so I have no idea how it will run but so far it's behaving and it is running from a CCC version of the drive that was in my old laptop and it has been solid.
    The lesson I learned is that I am going to update to 2.1 and skip the 2.2 firmware.
    BTW - Props to Alex @ the Apple store for all his help.

  • Problems with EFI Firmware Update to 1.5 for mid 2010 Mac Pro, and sleep issues

    Hello to the community, I have run into an annoying issue.
    I need to update the EFI firmware on my 8 core mid-2010 Mac Pro. I downloaded the EFI update from the apple website from here : http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1321
    But everytime I download it, as I click to install, it gives me the message:
    Alert
    This software is not supported on your system.
    But clearly this is the correct EFI for my computer. I tried burning the Firmware restoration onto a CD from here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1320
    But the computer did not respond the way it said it should (with the 3 flashes/beeps etc.) and have the optical drive open for the CD.
    So I'm completely stuck.
    *Also my Mac Pro had issues with sleep, when I put it to sleep, sometimes when I try to bring it back, it restarts itself, and other times, it just turns itself on and the monitor screen remains black, so I have to hit the power button to turn it off then back on again. This only happnens when the computer has been put to sleep for a slightly extended period of time, roughly 20mins +, sometimes longer.  I was trying to solve this problem by first updating the firmware because I think it could be related to that, but I've had this problem with the firmware so I couldn't find out. This is actually the bigger problem for me because it will affect my work. I am currently using an iMac while I fix up this mac pro.
    I'm a music composer so I've upgraded many aspects of my system due to work. I have a 1TB Samsung 840 evo SSD, 2 seagate 2 TB HDD, and 1 WD 1TB HD (the original one in the mac pro), along with 32 GB of RAM. So my only problems are the firmaware and the weird activity when the computer is put to sleep.
    Some help would be greatly appreciated!

  • Slow Booting time after installing MacBook Pro EFI Firmware Update 2.0 on 13 Inches Mac 2010 model

    I'm experiencing a slow boot time after my computer installed a MacBook Pro EFI Firmware Update 2.0 itself on 13 Inches 2010 model, how to downgrade or fix it?
    My computer is starting 2 times slower then it should be, why Apple done this to me?
    Please help who really know somthing about Macs.

    I have the same problem, especially when I open my laptop from sleep.  It takes at least 2 minutes for the computer Internet connection to work.
    Never had that problem prior to the last firmware update 2.7.
    Is there a way to revert back to 2.6?

  • MacBook Pro EFI Firmware Update 1.5.1 messed up my laptop

    Software update just told me to install MacBook Pro EFI Firmware Update 1.5.1 a few minutes ago, and I followed the directions, having no idea what it was supposed to be doing to my computer. I hit "Shut Down", then held down the power button until I heard the beep. After the beep, the screen stayed black and the LED light just stayed constant. Then I turned the computer off using the start button again, and tried to turn it on. The hard drive or CD drive started to click rhythmically and the computer did nothing. The screen stayed black.
    I then tried to restore the previous firmware, but that doesn't work. It said to hold the button until the lights flash fast, then slow, then to insert the restoration CD, which I did. It buzzed like it was going to start up, then did nothing and I got no progress screen. It still just sits there black with that power light on. Anyone got any ideas other that going to a Genius and paying hundreds of dollars?

    I followed the EFI instructions exactly as it stated and had a major problem.
    Basically my problem was that the EFI did not completely successfully. It left the system in a half updated state. Unfortunately, they had to replace my entire system board. I have Apple Care so it was replaced at no charge. I originally called Apple Support and they had me try the usual things like restoration cd, reset PRAM, reset NVRAM, etc. Nothing worked. I brought it down to my local Apple store but they more or less do the same thing. They had to send it out to be fixed. Sorry, but it sounds like you're in the same boat.
