Seeking recommendations for contact management app

I'm looking for a great professional contact management app for use on ipad, iphone, and Mac.
Need base functionality:
Import 1,000 contacts from .csv file
Contact tracking (history and details of discussions), ticklers (reminders for next contact)
Search and filter functionality
Nice to have:  custom fields
Thanks for suggestions!
Lynne

I do a lot of counselling about a very complicated and dynamic subject.  Right now I have to lug 20-30 pounds of reference texts from point A to point B to point C.  I bought the iPad Air in hopes I could store this material in the tablet.  But the reference material is complicated -- I guess I said that -- and I need lots of words to clarify what the subject is of each pamphlet and brochure, etc, before I can clearly differentiate one from the other.  Imagine I have documents A, B and C.  In the best of all worlds I would see a metadata display that looked like this:
File A -- Comments
File B -- Comments
File C -- Comments
Taking the filenames and the comments together I decide I need to look at C. I tap that and it displays.
That is the best of worlds.  But I see GR allows me to rewrite filenames and maybe doing that will get me to where I want to go.
It does seem strange that with all document-handling packages out there there isn't one that allows comments in metadata.  Oh well.
Thanks again,
Fred

  • Better Contacts Manager app, sort by company?

I am a sole proprietor (not needing a shared database) looking for a basic Contacts Manager app (for OSX primarily) that allows contacts to be organized by company. Also, for new contacts at any organization to be added without having to manually key in all common data for each new contact. (both the preceding are not features offered in current Apple Contacts) The ability to generate a CSV database is important.
Apple Contacts requires that all fields for new contacts be entered manually, no simple copy/paste feature for adding new contacts within the same company. Yes, I have found awkward work-arounds that don't really work. Most personal contact manager apps seem to be written for IOS and those for OSX are often complex & expensive (many require a monthly subscription). Many apps listed on review sites are no longer developed, or still in beta.
The desired features above would seem to be a no-brainer, but I have spent hours fruitlessly seeking a simple workable solution.
    thanks in advance

Contacts will sort by company if the Company checkbox is checked in the card.
To add multiple contacts to the same company I just duplicate a card from the company and edit the name, telephone number and email as needed.
To get just the companies to display create a Group, Businesses or Companies, and add all company cards to it.  Click on the group and you have only the cards you want.

  • Whatsapp and Contact Management App Problems After iso6 Upgrade

    Dear Apple Support,
I have a problem here! As soon as I upgraded my iPhone to iso6, all my contact management app as well as Whatsapp messaging app's contacts were gone. I would like to find out what has happened to the contact sync with other apps as the phone contact I sync with iCloud seem intact. I hope the developers can come up with a solution to work closely with Apple on this.
So far all upgrades were perfect, wonder what went wrong with iso6? A big disappointment for a Apple Fan like myself to face this problem and it seems to be Major to many of us here. Please do something Apple... ...!

    Pal,
you're actually upgrading 6 support pack levels (btw., why SP10 - SP11 is available, too...), so please be sure to follow all the post-installation steps outlined here: https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/c0f0e585-1f57-2b10-ac80-8f6c37b9453a
The UME roles are included in the VIRACCNTNT*.SAR file, it is recommended you upload those with every support pack (import into UME).
Regarding Mitigating Controls: try to generate one in DEV and see what the difference to SP04 is - it's probably just visual.
    Frank.

  • Recommendations needed for document management app

I want to be able to mail text files in various formats (*.pdf, *.html, *.docx etc) to my iPad, where the
files will then be displayed by title.  I also want to add a couple of sentences of annotation to each item.
I should then be able to display any given item with a click or tap.
I can mail files to my ibook app right now OK but I can't see any way to annotate an ibook entry and I
    really need that.
To review:  Imagine that I am working from my desktop.  I see a file I want to save to my iPad.  I
download it to my PC and mail it as an attachment to my icloud account.  I go to Mail in my iPad
and tap the 'Move' icon. The 'Move' icon gives me the opportunity to save it to the document management app,
whatever it is called.  I then go to that app and annotate the saved file. The annotation appears next to
the file title.  When I tap the entry the file displays.
I assume the right name for an app like this is text management or file management or document management.
    What does this???
    Thanks,
    Fred Hapgood

  • Recommendations for Website Building app/software?

    Hi
I have a MACBook Pro and would like to build my own website (not as a professional).  I am a newbie at web development and I am looking for an EASY to use (meaning WYSIWYG) software app that will let me build and update my site.
Does anyone have a recommendation for me?

    you could try this one
    http://blocsapp.com
i really like it, pretty simple
it is like half pro half amateur in my opinion.

  • Is AIR the right platform for photo management app?

I need to build a web-enabled photo management app with the following features:
    server sign-in and authentication
photos fetched from server via REST API/XML
tag, rate (i.e. 1-5 stars), and edit properties for photos, with data updated on or sync-ed with server
all the RIA UI goodies, like multi-select, drag/drop, AJAX-style auto-complete, overlay icons on thumbs,
all the photo management goodies, like fast scrolling, histograms, resizeable thumbnail
able to handle 1000s of photos in 1 album (server is on a local LAN)
One key issue is how the platform loads an album with 1000s of photos in the background, and scrolls through pages of thumbnails. I tried before to build this in Java and all the threading issues were too much for me.
I have good experience with CakePHP & MySQL and some experience with Java, but I am resigned to learning a new platform/libs. I just need to know where to invest my learning time.
Can some experienced users pipe in on whether AIR the right platform for me to build on? Should I use Javascript etc, or learn Flex?
Is there anything out there I could just build on? I'm also considering building on Yahoo YUI or Google GWT as an alternative.
    thx.
    m.

Let me clarify the issue of 1000s of photo. I the app would need to load thumbnails for 1000s of photos, but only open the full size photo when the thumbnail is clicked. probably 120px max dimension, pre-rendered on the server. I have tried to open 1000 thumbs in a plain html page, and the photos come quickly - as if from the local file system - but it does seem to slow the UI until everything is loaded.
Is there a way for AIR to load the thumbnails is the current "view port" immediately, and the rest in the background? YUI has an imageLoader class that does something like this. Could I use this within AIR?
The other requirement is to manage a DB of tags ratings, and other attributes for the photos, but I can't imagine that is a big challenge. right?

  • Seeking recommendations for handling large binary documents with security(preferable) for inbound and outbound scenarios from OSB- SOA and SOA- OSB

    Hi,
I am currently working on a project with the following requirements
    1. Client transfers binary document (between 1-20MB in size) from OSB proxy to SOA composite to Content Management system
    2. Client retrieves binary document (between 1-20MB in size) from Content Management system to SOA composite to OSB proxy
In otherwords, a inbound and outbound integration.
What I have tried so far and my results:
    Scenario A
    1. Enabled MTOM on SOA composite by attaching wsmtom policy
    2. Created an OSB business service and consumed the SOA composite application
    3. Enabled MTOM on OSB proxy and business service and configured it to pass by reference
    Scenario B
    1. Enabled MTOM and security on SOA composite by attaching wsmtom policy and SAML policy
    2. Created an OSB business service and consumed the SOA composite application
    3. Enabled MTOM on OSB proxy and business service and configured it to pass by reference
I have a demo integration setup that writes a binary document to a file using the above steps. My SOA composite has a file adapter that writes the binary data to an external file and it is exposed as a web service with a simple WSDL definition that has an inline XSD schema with an single element of base64binary type. I have added a mediator that maps this base64binary element node to the file adapter's input node.
Result for Scenario A with file size less than 1 MB:
Flawless execution with sub-second response times
Result for Scenario A with file size of 8MB
First attempt: SOA composite faults with database transaction related error, solved by increasing JTA timeout
Second attempt: Flawless execution, but file transfer took over 100 seconds to complete. This is very poor performance and my suspicions are that this cannot be the expected behaviour, but I dont know the internal workings of the SOA composite and why its taking this long.
    Result for Scenario B:
The OSB business service does not accept/recognize the SAML policy in the WSDL and suggests to configure OWSM policies manually, but OWSM policy in OSB does not have the wsmtom policy. Regardless of this, any permutation of MTOM + WSS security in this integration scenario either did not work outright or MTOM optimization was not happening ie binary data was materalizing in the message body.
I have only about 3 weeks left to implement a viable solution and the closest ive come to a solution is Scenario A but that +100 second response time for an 8MB file is really worrying.
I would appreciate any level of guidance, recommendations or suggestions as to how I go about tackling this problem.
    Thanks
    regards,
    Johnny

I think this is due to the underlying mechanism of weblogic classloading..
You can contact oracle support @ https://support.oracle.com to report issues. Roughly this is the process .
1- get the Oracle Customer Support Identifier (CSI) for the client you are working for.
2- Create a user profile quoting the CSI. This will send an approval request to oracle support admins at your client.
3- Get the oracle support admins at your client site to approve your request for support access.
4-Once they approve , you can access the support site and raise service requests.

  • What is the best tool for contact management?

I am looking for a robust sales/customer relationship management tool the integrates with iCal and Address Book on my Mac Book and iPhone. Any recommendations? Thanks!

Don't know if this is anything like what you're looking for, but Bento is very nice, inexpensive, quite capable, and now syncs to an iphone version as well. I use it for my practice and while it's not FileMaker, it's certainly very useful for this kind of thing. Integrates completely with ical and address book too.

  • Seeking Recommendations For A Snow Leopard-Compatible USB Hub

It has been suggested that my CablesToGo 7-port powered USB hub might be the cause of some of the kernel panics I have experienced since upgrading to 10.6.4. I understand that there are no guarantees when it comes to USB, but is there a brand that seems to have fewer problems than others? I don't need 7 ports, just reliability.

Is this one bus powered? Hard to tell from the picture and I couldn't find anything that looked similar on the Belkin site; in any case, personally I would only recommend hubs that are self-powered - see this excerpt of a Wiki article:
+A bus-powered hub is a hub that draws all its power from the host computer's USB interface. It does not need a separate power connection. However, many devices require more power than this method can provide, and will not work in this type of hub.+
+USB current (related to power) is allocated in units of 100 mA up to a maximum total of 500 mA per port. Therefore a compliant bus powered hub can have no more than four downstream ports and cannot offer more than four 100 mA units of current in total to downstream devices (since one unit is needed for the hub itself). If more units of current are required by a device than can be supplied by the port it is plugged into, the operating system usually reports this to the user.+
+In contrast a self-powered hub is one that takes its power from an external power supply unit and can therefore provide full power (up to 500 mA) to every port. Many hubs can operate as either bus powered or self powered hubs.+

  • Seeking updates for standalone CC apps...

    Hello:
I'm employed by a university and working with what appear to be standalone versions of the CC apps. I say "appear to be" because I do not have the Adobe Creative Cloud app, and did not download and install the latest versions of the apps from Adobe. Instead, the CC apps were installed on my MacBook by one of our IT people when I was hired.
As an example, my version of Photoshop is:
    Adobe Photoshop CC
    version 2014.2.2
I can't seem to find any updates for these standalone CC apps, and don't even know if there are any available? I did ask our IT people and they didn't know. I'm assuming these are legitimately-licensed versions of the apps (for use in a university/school setting), but repeated web searches have turned up nothing.
I do want the latest versions of all apps as they're critical to my work—so if no updates for these apps are available, then I need to request I be put onto the monthly subscription Creative Cloud.
Any info or advice is appreciated!
    Scott

    Hi Scott,
I assume, the CC apps were deployed by IT admin and updates were disabled for the apps. you can certainly check for latest updates and install if you have admin access on your machine. You can launch the app and check for the updates under help tab. In case updates tab is grayed out delete AdobeUpdaterAdminPrefs.dat from locations below and updates tab will be enabled.
    Mac OS
    <Startup Disk>/Library/Application Support/Adobe/AAMUpdaterInventory/1.0/AdobeUpdaterAdminPrefs.dat
Windows 7.0 and Higher (32 bit)
    C:\Program files\common files\adobe\AAMUpdaterInventory\1.0\AdobeUpdaterAdminPrefs.dat
Windows 7.0 and higher (64 bit)
    C:\Program files(x86)\common files\adobe\AAMUpdaterInventory\1.0\AdobeUpdaterAdminPrefs.dat
    Thanks,
    Ashish

  • Looking for sound manager app

I've moved from a Droid to iPhone 4s and loving it and will never go back. However, I had an app on my Droid that allowed me to set the various sound volumes (phone, texts, notifications, etc) by time of day. Thus I was able to have them set at low volumes starting at 11pm and return to desired daytime volumes at 8am. I've searched the app store and have been unable to find an equivalent app for the 4s. Does anyone know of an app with this kind of functionality?  It is sorely missed. Thanks!! Jim

There is no such app for the iPhone.

  • Seeking Recommendations for New System

I’m planning to upgrade my son’s Pentium II computer with the  following components.  Please give constructive comments for improvements, realizing that this is my limit in regard to costs:
    MOBO – MSI K7N2 Delta-L or MSI KT6V-LSR or MSI KT4VL
    Graphics Card --
    RADEON 9600 PRO 128MB DDR AGP 8X W/TV-OUT/DVI or RADEON 9600 256MB DDR WITH CRT/DVI/TV-OUT or RADEON 9800SE 128MB W/TV OUT
CPU – AMD Athlon 2500+ Barton

Well, I can say, don't buy the 256mb vid card cuz its slower than the 128mb cards.  And yes I do regret buying the one I have right now instead of a regular 128.
You can read this thread about one user's choice and why.
About the mobo, well... I like Intel chips better and don't have much experience with the amd setups, but I did notice that the deltas are often used in overclocking and have been proven as stable and reliable.
Please keep in mind that these are only opinions.
In reality, whatever you choose in that list will make for a good setup... exept for most 256mb vid cards(the high end ones are better, but not in everyones price range).
    Good luck.
(EDIT) Oh and so that you know, 9800 is better than 9600, and rankings go like this:
se -> cheap alternative to the real thing
no ranking (known as non pro)  -> the real thing as the were when they came out
    pro -> performance version
    xt -> super performance version
,and an 9600 xt is almost as good as a 9800 se (actually very close to it)
Ask around in the vid card forum for more input from others.
And the mobo, well like I said, I ain't no pro with the amd setups.

  • Seeking recommendations for animation freeware

Hello all, I need to create a few very simple animations: all I want to do is move a re-sizing jpeg over another jpeg and save it as QT or gif or something iMovie can use as a clip. I've looked on the web and don't see much, except the expensive pro software, Adobe, Motion, &c. Can anyone recommend a very basic program that will work with OSX?

I got a reply on another thread to this, looks like Toonboom may be my answer.

  • Seeking recommendations for Java and servlet tutorials

I am newbies in Java, except knowing some JavaScripts, JSP for web programming. Currently, I am using PHP, MySQL, Apache, and now I would like extend my skills to Java.
I visited the java website, it seems to have many different packages and tech for different requirement. What should I learn for web programming? And which database is mostly fit for Java language? Mysql? oracle?

If you want to do web programming, JSP and JavaScript is a good start. You'll also need to know servlets. Since you are new to Java, you'll also need to learn some of the basic classes. I would start with Sun's Java tutorial and when you have mastered that move on to their J2EE tutorial and focus on the chapters that deal with servlets, jsps and related technologies. The J2EE tutorial will include other topics that you may not want to learn right now.
All major relational databases can be used with Java. The JDBC api can be used for all of them. There might be some minor differences in how you code you queries but the way you do things is the same regardless of the database.

  • Seeking Laptop Recommendations For Video Editing On-The-Go (Around $1,000)

    Hi there,
I am seeking recommendations for a laptop great for video editing. I am a YouTuber with an on-the-go lifestyle.
    Budget is $1,000ish.
I need to be able to physically lock the laptop with one of those holes on the side.
I want to be able to multi-task well by having a variety of programs open at once.
    Thanks for the help.

Well that is a tall request   Take a look at this factory refurbished starter unit.  I acquired a similar refurbished unit just a year ago and upgraded it with more RAM and SSD drives.  The upgrade process is extremely simple.  You could start with the unmodified unit and as you run into performance problems upgrade gradually.  My laptop is now editing three camera timelines of AVCHD 1920 x 1080 with ease.  I now have 24 GB of RAM and got rid of the 1 TB 5400 rpm by cloning it to a 128 GB SSD drive and adding a second very good SSD in the available port.  Removing one screw gives you full access to do this.  Here is a picture of the bottom of my laptop.
Edit, I just checked and it does have a Kensington security slot
You do realize that the only way to do video editing is to have the laptop AC powered.
