  • Best DVD burner software for mac

I have made some simple movies I want to burn to DVD with menu options.  What is the best (at a reasonable cost) burner softwar to puchase. Have done some research and read the reviews but still confussed.

Handbrake to copy to avi or mp4(I use it for watching my DVD's on the go, so my battery lasts for a longer time)
I think MP4 is better quallity.
To copy a DVD: simply use Toast (maybe withe popcorn, but I don't use it).
But, be legal! This is a forum, and anyone can see your posts!

  • Disk burning software for mac

Apple no longer includes iDVD software for burning disks - any recommendations?

You can buy iDVD as part of the iLife retail.
Roxio Toast has some features that are nice.
Dragonburn has some features that are nice.
And for the real pros there is Final Cut Pro X which offers most if not all the features the budding video editor might want.  It appears Apple's old DVD Studio Pro website has been set to redirect to their FInal Cut Pro X website.

  • Avi to Mov conversion software for Mac

Since I can't search I may be asking a redundant question, but can anyone help me with locating some software for the Mac that will help me to convert some .avi files to .mov?
    Thanks,
    Jim

i think quicktime pro will do that.
unless it's some obscure, windows encoded avi file...
i like to use iSquint which is a free, slimmer version of Visual Hub...
--it's meant for getting just about anything on the iPod... but the settings allow you to choose pretty much whatever you want...

  • HT1645 Hello, does anyone know of good DVD burning software for Mac?  I've got two 8 min 25 sec mov files to put on a DVD with title and a menu for the two.  I've tried it with iDVD five times, each time waiting over an hour and then getting an error mess

I have a short film I produced and I need to burn off copies however I am having no end of trouble with finding a simple DVD burning programme.
I tried a few but no luck.  I am trying with mov files and I can't see where the cog is happening.  If anyone has any good and relatively inexpensive solutions, please let me know!
    Thanks so much!
    Cheers

    Welcome to the forums.
If you'd like to continue trying with iDVD, one of Apple's resources shows HT 1645 to be an encoding error (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1645), so I would suggest starting a new iDVD project and set the iDVD Preferences to make sure they match to your project.  In particular, you should be using the Pro encoding setting or Best Performance for projects with a total length under an hour (http://support.apple.com/kb/PH5417).
Roxio Toast is an excellent burning tool and part of my work flow after I've used iDVD to create a disk image.  Toast will not have the nice iDVD menus, but can do many other tasks besides DVD creation.  (Disk images can help in the DVD creation process -- here's one of many discussions:  https://discussions.apple.com/message/15469221#15469221)

  • Is there a Karaoke CD+G burner software for Mac yet?

Hi, I unwittingly downloaded the karaoke songs I wanted from Amazon to make a performance list, only to discover that I don't have the words. kJam seems complicated what with having to buy plug-ins, etc. so I'm hoping there is another way to solve this by now (almost 2013) Is there?
    Thanks for any input. Kate

  • Please recommend personal finance software for Mac that allows month to month analysis of spending by categories.  Quicken on a PC was good at this.  Mint seems very limited.

Please recommend personal finance software for Mac that allows month to month analysis of spending by categories.  Quicken on a PC was good at this.  Mint seems very limited.

Quicken for Mac 2007 works just fine (and is said to be compatible with Mavericks).  It is often denounced for not being "modern", but when something works, and does everything I want, I need a good reason to switch.
A few years ago (2011), I got that reason when I upgraded OSX and Quicken stopped working due to the absence of Rosetta.  I switched to iBank.  I used it for more than a year.  It was cumbersome, they have no sense of a helpful user interface, but it "works".  I found ONE feature that I liked:  you can attach an image (or any file) to a register entry, so I can save receipts right with the register.
But when Intuit came out with the revised Quicken 2007 for Mountain Lion, I gladly went back.  I found that being able to update stock prices right in the portfolio view (for those not automatically found online) was handy - in iBank you have to generate a report to see the holdings, and then you have to switch to a view of "Securities" then scroll down through that list to find your stock, then "edit" then change the price, then "Save" then go back to reports and re-generate the portfolio view.  Also, if you enter a stock purchase in a Quicken register, the price you paid gets added to the price history for the stock (as of the date of the transaction).  No such help in iBank.  Most of the helpful UI features (like increasing the date with the + key) are glaringly missing in iBank.  I find I am getting no more than about 3-4 keystrokes before having to move the mouse and click.
If you are considering sharing the app on an iPad, Quicken won't work, but I found that iBank for iPad doesn't work either.  The interface is completely different from the Mac version, you can't do much with it, and if you have a stock whose price is $11.25 / share and sell 200 shares, you might find that $22.50 gets added to your cash in the account.  (I actually made a few million dollars when it decided that 200 shares at $11.25  yielded $2,250,000.)  Luckly, I received a refund for that app.
Depending on how the Mavericks switch goes, I hope to be able to stick with Quicken, but I am keeping my records up-to-date in both now, because I can live with iBank.  I will just have to keep an eye on its arithmetic.

  • Re-installing iTunes to install DVD/CD burning software

When I load iTunes, a message come up saying that there is no component to allow DVD/CD burning....could be cause by installing other DVD/CD burning software and to re-stall iTunes. I have re-installed twice and re-booted and still get the same error message. I am trying to back-up my iPod library and can't burn to disk through iTunes. In addition, I find that my iTunes library now has about 40% of the tunes with an exclamation point next to the song list and if I try to play it, as error message comes up saying file can't be found. That's why I want to back up my iPod before I try to load my music from my iPod back onto my computer. HELP! Any ideas about how I can solve these problems?
    Thanks

Quicktime Pro does not have the ability to rip and convert DVDs.

  • Software for mac like Nero on windows?

    hi,
i just want to know if there is a software for mac that does the same like Nero on windows (burn movies on dvd)?
    thanks a lot !

You will probably have to transcode that into some format that is more compatible. From what I understand, AVI is just a wrapper format for any number of proprietary PC codecs. Some will play on a Mac if the appropriate drivers are available and some won't. Some people swear by VLC, but I've had more luck with MPlayer. You can download MPlayerX from the Mac App Store. VLC has more a restrictive "free and open source" license so you will have to download and install it on your own.
This is not my area of expertise. I suggest searching for similar topics and/or asking in the iDVD forum.

  • Blu ray software for mac

I just installed my new internal LG Blu-Ray drive in my mac pro. Now the DVD studio pro doesn't recodnise my old DVD drive. I know the DVD studio pro is not designed for Blu-Ray so now I am looking for an ulternate for this software where I can make menu and chepters and it works with final cut pro and compresser. I have received a software cd with this drive, but that is for Windows. Where I can find LG Blu-Ray software for mac?
    Please help me.

You mentioned that DVD Studio Pro does no recognize your old DVD drive.
When you format your project, look at the bottom of the Format window under the Destination section.  The "Output Device" pop-up menu lets you choose between any device that DVD Studio Pro can write to.  Both your internal burner and LG burner should show up.
Of course, this is all for NTSC DVD.
If you're going to go with Adobe Encore, be sure to use CS6 (the current version).  Prior versions were problematic when it came to BD menus.
