Seeking songs

I'm not sure if this expected behavior for Ipod 60GB. Currently have 5 GB of of Albums downloaded to it. When you search by Album and select the first song to play e.g. 1 of 13, it doesn't display the album artwork and skips to track 2 after about 10 seconds. Click the back button it's possible to play the first song. This problem seems to intermittent. Is this a know problem.
Running version 1.1.1
Ipod is a week old

  • [Desktop][Playlists] Automatically scroll as you seek songs

I suggest that Spotify implement an "autoscroll" feature that, as you "seek" forward or backward songs, it will automatically scroll the find that song on the screen. For example, if you're in a long playlist about halfway down but don't know exactly where that song is in the playlist, if you advance to the next song or go back to the previous song, your client will snap to where that song is located in the playlist. This will make finding where you're at, and finding songs, in playlists (or artists pages) much easier.

  • No possible to seek with timeline in a song

the music-app on my nokia c7 is really perfect. -old, not supported but really useful with many functions.
But on the sony walkman i still miss the timeline function to seek and listen in a song.
why isn't it possilbe like other (free) apps?

I still don't see what the issue is as the timeline is also there and it also allows you to skip the song faster to a timeline
I must have a super duper Walkman app

Have a go at opening some SVG graphics in Firefox and let us know if ypu need further help. :)

    Hi jayelbe,
thanks for your idea but the environment I'm working in is designed to support IE and is optimized for the use of the Adobe feature. By using the IE the SVG graphics can be saved as *.svg in a dedicated folder but not so by using Firefox. The graphic window area shows no content. The file can not be downloaded.
An additional issue is - may be - that I'm working on my home device with LINUX instead of Windows (where everything works).

  • This is a question about the iTunes Store.  I have the correct artist, title, composer, and album name for a song popular in the 1970's.  The store's Advanced Search feature can't find any of the information.  How can I get Search to find the song I seek?

What can I try if the store's Advanced Search strikes out trying to find the song I want?

Perhaps the song is not available in MP3 format, or isn't available in the iTunes Store, or simply not available in your country. (A Norwegian band's first album from the 1980s became available in MP3 format only in April 2012; an example that not everything is automatically is available in MP3 as soon as possible.)
... and before any wag says, or even thinks "it", yes - the Norwegian band's album is very good! (Still waiting for their second album, from 1982, though!)
You may be surprised at how often a song or album is not available because of "contractual problems" - in other words, someone's being greedy, difficult, or both. (Another album I like, from a UK band of the 70's, was unavailable for a long time because - and I'm quoting the band's leader - "the copyright owner wanted too much money for the album to be on CD.")
You could try looking for the song in other stores. If it's not yet available anyhwere, you'll just have to be patient. You could try contacting the band via any websites they have, and asking them about it's availability. What's the song? Perhaps I (or soemoen else) might be able to confirm it's availability on MP3 from another source.

  • Seeking iTunes Mac plugin - custom crossfade by song

I would like to be able to set up playlists in iTunes (for Mac) with custom crossfades for each song transition, including some "cold" starts or endings. They will be, in effect, pre-mixed DJ sets.
I have searched for a plugin that will enable me to do this but not yet found one. Does anyone know of such a thing?

The last time I did a clean install of Windows on my PC, I backed up the entire iTunes folder on a separate HD partition. After reinstalling iTunes, I copied the iTunes folder back to the C drive and all of the many EQ presets I had created were restored, along with the music. That was in late 2011. I came to the conclusion that this was how you back up the custom EQ settings.
I guess I made a mistake by assuming it would work again this time. Did I? I repeated the process today when I reinstalled Windows, and all the presets I had created did not get restored and now seem to be gone... Is there any way to recover them?
I spent a lot of time tweaking the different frequencies to get them just right and hope to not have to repeat that process.
All of the settings were created using the custom presets, and not on individual MP3 tracks themselves.
    (iTunes version just installed: 11.0.2.26)

  • Itunes 10.5.2 is running so slowly - it takes over 1 second for a track to start and whenever i move to a different position in the song using seek, it takes over 1 second for the audio to start playing

Anyone having problems with iTunes 10.5.2?
I'm having long times to start a track and then over 1 second to start playing again whenever I skip to another part of the track.

  • Is there a way of getting all my songs from my iPod to my itunes, not just the purchased ones?

Basically, our computer crashed not long ago, and since then we have had all the stuff from our old computer taken and put on the admin of a our new computer.  However, my music files seem to have disappeared, including the ones that were in Windows Media Player that were also on my iPod (a nano).  I connected my iPod to iTunes after downloading it from the Apple website, but only the songs I have purchased from iTunes Store have been transfered to the iTunes library.  Is there a way I can retrieve all the other non-Apple files from my iPod to the iTunes library, thus making it safe to sync them both without fear of losing more songs?
    Thank you!!

We can't recommend a product, but we can point you to the direction of iLounge which they will know what currenty works to bring all your files off your iDevice back into iTunes.
I also have some recovery options and advice here:
    Recovery options:
    A: If Windows isn't booting:
You need to boot the computer from a "recovery disk or USB" that has a operating system on it and a graphical user interface to transfer files from your boot drive to a external drive.
I suggest using the Easy USB Installer to install Ubuntu 10.10 onto a 2-4 GB USB key.
    http://www.pendrivelinux.com/universal-usb-installer-easy-as-1-2-3/
    or
burn a ISO of Ubuntu 10.10 or PartedMagic to a cd-r with ImgBurn or Win 7 right click and burn
You can use Disk Utility in OS X to select the ISO and burn to cd/dvd as well.
Once you have it installed, consult this page for your BIOS boot key to hold to get into the BIOS.
    http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixtheproblem/a/biosaccess_pc.htm
Plug the USB into the back (if possible) of the computer, connect the external drive and enter the BIOS, set the USB (or CD) as first boot and SAVE.
Boot off the USB/CD and "Try Ubuntu/Run from disk" DON'T INSTALL. (Parted Magic loads into RAM and ejects CD)
Once in, go under the menu Places > Computer and transfer your files to the external drive just like you would in Windows, drag and drop.
(If using Parted Magic double click on the Mount Drive left icon twice, use the two GUI windows to transfer files to external drive, unmount drives, log out/quit in the lower left corner menu option)
B: If the computer hardware isn't working, but the drive might still work:
You'll have to remove the power cord and manually extract the hard drive. This might result in some damage.
There is a powered IDE/SATA to USB adapter for sale online for $20 that you can take that internal hard drive and use it like a external drive to access your files from another Windows machine.
C: If your iTunes content is deleted...
It might be recoverable if it hasn't been overwritten yet by fresh data. Undelete software works by reading the 1's and 0's of the files themselves, not what the OS says.
You need to use undelete software pre-installed before the iTunes content was deleted, or while on a bootable cd/USB and a external drive to transfer the recovered files.
You can also install undelete type software on a new machine and USE STEP B above to "undelete" the files and recover them directly to the new computer.
You can't install undelete software or recover files to the same drive your attempting to recover from or it overwrites the deleted data.
D: If the hard drive doesn't work and...
The data isn't worth spending $2000-$3000 in a ATTEMPT at platter dissection recovery, then your finished
If the data on the drive was encrypted, data recovery efforts may be futile, unless it's a encypted file and you transfer it successfuly and have the password to de-crypt it.
E: If you have a "iDevice" with any content
It can be synced back into iTunes, check at iLounge what third party software works reliably now and for your version.
Once you log into your iTunes account, you can sync ONLY iTunes purchased content back from a iDevice
Third party software can recover just about all the items on a iDevice, regardless of it's origin. (can't recommend such software here)
F: If any of the above is too hard, or the data is of "critical importance"
Then seek professional computer or forensic level recovery services.
Get help from someone who has done this sort of thing repeatly and can almost guaranty 100% results.
There is Linux software that can "rip" all data off a iOS device if that level of attention is needed, seek a professional service.
Hope this helps in your data recovery efforts.
Please, backup your data, it's the only thing us IT professionals can't recover.

  • Delete Dialogue not appearing... can't delete songs from hard-drive

After downloading ver 7.0.2 I can't delete songs from my hard-drive by deleting them in iTunes.
There's supposed to be a dialogue(sp?) box that shows up when you delete a song in the main library (not in playlists), that asks you if you want to permanantly delete a file (song, movie, etc), or if you only want to delete it from the iTunes list.
It's not showing up for me, so I have to seek out the folder and delete the song manually in Windows.
I'd get this problem occasionaly in the older versions, but usually a restart of the program, or in worse cases, rebooting the computer would solve the problem, but not this time.
I've tried re-installing the program, but no luck.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.

I tried the following fix, and it didn't work..
Is anyone else having this problem after upgrading to 7.0.2?
I'm sure I didn't check the box in the delete dialog that says "do not show this again"
I've also tried hitting the shift key when deleting.. still no luck.
    HELP!!
    Resetting the iTunes Preference Files:
    -- Quit iTunes
    -- Delete C:\Documents and Settings\<your username>\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iTunes.pref
    -- Delete C:\Documents and Settings\<your username>\Local Settings\Application Data\Apple Computer Inc\iTunes.pref
You may need to enable 'Show Hidden Files/Folders' in Windows Explorer==>Tools menu==>Folder Options==>’View’ tab before you can see the Application Data & Local Settings folders.
This will force iTunes to run the setup assistance the next time you open it. You'll have to go back and re-set any preferences you want changed from the iTunes default. When you restart iTunes, it will perform its initial startup process. Do not let iTunes search for your music files. The old library is still there and iTunes will see it after it gets past the initial dialog screens.

  • Recurringly skips opening and closing of particular songs

Dear me, this again proves why itunes is my least favorite part of owning a mac.
I have been having this problem over several iterations of iTunes. When attempting to play certain songs, iTunes will skip several seconds of the opening or ending of particular songs. Its always the same portions of the same songs; in some cases it amounts to about five seconds, and others (as in the case that prompted me to search for an answer with this post) it is over a minute of the song that will not play, even if I seek to within that portion of the song; it just skips over that portion (if it is the beginning, it skips into the song upon play, and if it is at the end it will just immediately skip to the next song).
My library mostly consists of mp3 formatted songs (generally no less than 192kbps). And I don't have problems with any songs in any other programs or on mp3 players, etc. I don't know if it is capable of causing this problem, but I use beaTunes, which has the option to designate cues to omit silence at the beginning/end of songs. I have never knowingly used this feature, and I don't think it is the cause of the problem.

oh, and any help with this problem would be much appreciated.

  • How can I play the songs in iTunes on my Android phone?

I am a new comer to iTunes.  I just purchased a couple of songs from iTunes and it plays correctly on my iMac and iPad.  I have following questions and seeking the answers.
    1.  Are the songs sited on iTunes server and streaming when I play the song?  It requires internet connection to play the songs.  Can I download the songs onto my device to avoid internet connection.
    2.  Can I play the songs on my Android phone?
    3.  I have some songs on my iMac and appears in the iTunes.  How can I sync with my iPad (currently not appear in the iTunes of my iPad)?
    Thanks!

i guess the existance of an app means that itunes for the iphone cannot alphabatize itself.  that seems a little odd, given the new updates.  do you use this app?  i've gotten used to the functionality of the standard music app, and am curious how this one compares in terms of usage.
thank you for the link wjosten.

  • How do I stop iTunes from automatically retrieving information for songs already in my library?

This may sound silly, but I delete all composer information and change the year of songs on an artist's greatest hits album to the original release date. But for some reason iTunes has recently begun automatically adding back the composers and changing the years back. And sometimes if I simply choose Get Info to edit a song's information, the window closes on it's own. When I re-open it I find that iTunes has added information that I wasn't seeking to edit. How can I stop this? I can't find any option that would allow me to curtail this. Also, I have Genius turned off.

Windows Media Player can often be the culprit, with iTunes revealing edits that WMP has made in the background. See this post for suggestions. The most important bit is setting the options as per the fourth image which will stop WMP making changes in future. iTunes will carry on revealing any damage that has already been done.
A slightly more obscure possibility is that your edits haven't taken, either becuase the file is locked (iTunes won't raise an error) or occasionally because multiple tags are involved and iTunes writes to one, but reads back another.

  • How can i clear all of the songs off my ipod so i can start a fresh!!

    Hi everyone out there,
im desperately seeking for somebody who knows how i can clear all of the songs off my mini ipod so that i can start a fresh in intunes to upload new songs. ive misplaced my handbook somewhere so if anyone is able to help me i would be very grateful. thank you GB24

my ipod picks and chooses when i connect whether its going to update or not,
In Auto, it updates every time you connect it.
If you do not change anything it iTunes, the update will take only a second because there was nothing changed to update.

  • After iTunes update it won't import a whole CD, only one song at a time.

I just updated iTunes on a Win 7 64 bit system and now can't import an entire CD. Import stops after 1 or 2 songs, and I get error message "Error occurred while converting the file "(song name)". The disk is not available". I can import the entire CD one song at a time, but cannot get the whole disc to import with one command. Already tried repairing the install and a few other suggestions I found online. Nothing has helped. Any suggestions?

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
Although not directly matching your symptoms see also TS2308: iTunes for Windows: Optical drive is no longer recognized, or "Disc burner or software not found" alert after install in case anything there is useful.
You could also try ripping with Windows Media Player to see if the issue is specific to iTunes, or perhaps related to the drive itself or to particular discs. It is always possible that your optical drive has started to fail and can no longer seek reliably.

  • IPod Won't Play Songs, Videos Reset it, and it's Quite Sluggish

I have a 30GB video iPod (the old version). Everything was working fine until a few days ago, when the power on my iPod ran out because I fell asleep while listening to it. The next day when I turned it on, it said "Connect to your Computer, Use iTunes to restore" So I promptly did that, and it worked fine until I tried to play a video on it. It showed a blank screen, so I reset it by pressing the Menu and Center buttons. Then it showed the "Connect to your computer" screen again. So I restored it, and it would be fine until it locked up again and showed the "Connect to your computer screen" again. I left it alone for about eight hours, and when I tried turning it back on again, it was back to normal.I've seen that screen probably 10 times in the past 4 days, and I've restored it, just as many times.
Here's the list of problems I'm having:
    - the iPod won't play some songs when I click on them. It will show the Playing triangle in the upper left corner, but I hear no sound and the seeking bar doesn't move. I'll often have to click the Pause button, then hit it again to Play it, and then it will play the song.
    - The iPod is extremely slow. When dealing with songs or videos, it often takes a minute or more for the iPod to respond to my button clicks. Its hard drive isn't full, though; in fact I'm only using about 2 GB.
    - Videos lock up the iPod. Just about any time I want to play I video on it, it will show a blank screen and won't respond. Then I have to reset it and I get the "Connect to your computer" screen again. These aren't videos in the wrong format or anything, these are the same videos I've been playing on my iPod before with no problems, until recently.
    - Battery life is horrible. Although it hasn't been fully drained yet, judging from the power meter and how long I've been using it after it's fully charged, I'd guess it would only last about 2-3 hours. I would think it should last considerably longer, as the iPod is only about 3 months old.
Has anybody been experiencing similar problems, or know what I can do to fix it?

I've still had the same problems, but now when I try and turn on my ipod, it tells me to restore. When I do go to restore, itunes says that it cannot find the file needed to restore my ipod. The ipod itself also tried resetting itself, I guess, made it to the menu that asked what language I wanted it in, and then restarted again. This went on for an hour and a half, and I could't do anything. Is my ipod a lost cause?
