We'd be happy to suggest something if you would tell us exactly what is happening. You seem to be indicating that you can't play a video, NOT that you can't find Quicktime. What makes you think Quicktme is missing on your system. Did you actually look in your Applications folder?
What happens when you double click the video file you want to play? Does a window open but nothing plays? Not just any old video file can be played on a Mac without help sometimes. It may be that the file you want to play needs something other than Quicktime to do so.
You have not been very clear in your request.

I downloaded the newest iOS 7.1 and safari no longer works on ipad2
I postponed downloading the newest iOS 7.1 for my ipad2 because it seems whenever I update the software something inevitably crashes.
I went ahead and downloaded iOS 7.1 and now Safari does not work at all. I've had to breakdown and use google chrome instead.
Someone please help!I tried that and a reset and still i cannot get my Safari to work. I open safari and it opens as a blank. pressing on any of the buttons or items in the application and after a while poof... it disappears and I am back to the home screen! I have an Ipad mini and since all the links I click open Safari , my ipad is now usless in that regard.
I cant change to another browser as a default browser to open the links.
Can anyone help? -
I downloaded the newest verion of itunes. Now quicktime is not working...error 2096. I have uninstalled and reinstalled itunes. still nothing. i have read countless other people having the same issue. What is the problem?????

That one is often a compatibility mode problem. Try the following document, only be sure that none of the boxes in the compatibility mode tab are checked (not just the compatibility mode box itself):

Hello, Everyone--any help you could give would be greatly appreciated since I am freaking out a bit about this!
I have had iTunes since April when I got my iPod mini. I have downloaded the newer version of iTunes any time it has prompted me to do so when I open iTunes.
So, tonight it tells me there is a newer version. I download it just like always, but this time, when I double click on iTunes, nothing happens. So, I read some of the other posts on here and followed some of the directions like going in to the add/remove hardware and seeing if it's there and then repairing it. I did just that--it's there and it repaired it, but to no avail. I am stressing out now. Now, when I go to shut down my computer, it takes several minutes to shut down--and it never did that before. My computer is newer and was working fine until this happened. Yes, Quicktime appears to be working fine. I am just wondering if I did something wrong or if there is a HUGE flaw with this new iTunes version since it would appear others are also experiencing technical difficulties. Any help any of you could give would be greatly appreciated! I have a Dell Dimension 2400 with the Windows XP operating system. And once again, I have never had problems with iTunes until today. Oh--and when I plug in my iPod, that doesn't pull iTunes up either now. HELP!!!

Thank you doesn't say it strongly enough, but THANK YOU b noir and Lorraine for your help. I was to the boiling point last night and starting to get there tonight. Now I am resting easy and thankful that there is a community of computer users out there who care enough to troubleshoot problems together and work together to figure out a solution--and then to take the time to post and share information.
I would STRONGLY suggest that anyone who is having the iTunes issues where iTunes just plain won't open at all after downloading the newest version and has a pc with Norton Internet Security 2005 try the "Lorraine Method."
I am so happy I think I might sing. Or not--I will let my songs on iTunes do the singing for me now that I can again!!!!!!!
And to those still looking for answers--be patient--I now know how incredibly frustrating this can be and I hope that you all find your solutions very very soon!!

No iPod, iPhone, or iPad found.I did all that HT1925 recommended and it was no help. My computer still won't recognize my iPhone. Often trying to start Apple Mobile Device Service fails with an error message that it starts and then stops immediately.

Ok I cant find a way to fix this so I basically cant use my Verizon Iphone 4 because it wont connect on an old version...OK. You may have to reinstall everything from scratch but follow following steps:
1. Go to Microsoft website to fix install and Unistall problems. Click "Run now" from Fix it to remove all iTunes & related installer files:

Be aware that Windows Installer CleanUp Utility will not remove the actual program from your computer. However, it will remove the installation files so that you can start the installation, upgrade, or uninstall over.

some folks have been having some success with pgfpdwife's technique in the following post:

note carefully that the technique involves a registry edit. be sure to make a backup of any keys you edit. if you're unfamiliar with your registry or registry editing, head to your XP help and support, do a search on registry, and read through the articles that come up.

You have 2 versions of Pages on your Mac.
Pages 5.2.2 is in your Applications folder.
Pages '09/'08 is in your Applications/iWork folder.
You are alternately opening the wrong versions.
Pages '09/'08 can not open Pages 5 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5.2 can open Pages '09 files but may damage/alter them. It can not open Pages '08 files at all.
Older versions of Pages 5 can not open files from later versions of Pages 5.
Once opened and saved in Pages 5 the Pages '09 files can not be opened in Pages '09.
Anything that is saved to iCloud and opened in a newer version of Pages is also converted to Pages 5 files.
All Pages files no matter what version and incompatibility have the same extension .pages.

You can add the icon of the missing Pages on your Dock or open Pages from the Apple menu > Recent Items list.
Or you can archive Pages 5 so that it doesn't automatically open.

My iPhone 4S will not sync to iTunes. I've download the newest version of iTunes several times but when plugging my phone in it says "The iPhone cannot be used because it requires iTunes version 10.6.3 or later." HELP!
If you're using Windows try uninstalling iTunes and all of its components as by following this guide exactly: Windows XP or Windows Vista/7, then reinstall the latest version of iTunes. You must follow this guide exactly or it will not be successful. Note: uninstalling iTunes will only remove the application; it will not touch your iTunes library or data.

I am using Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit OS.I've never had this problem before... today I opened iTunes and it prompted me to download the newest version. I use iTunes all the time and have updated it multiple times with no issues. During the installation process it gave me an error message that said:

I quit the installation, uninstalled iTunes and rebooted my computer. I now receive a similar message with a slight difference:

I did not leave anything out from the error message. It doesn't point to a specific file, it just ends with "(x86)..." Every time I boot up my computer, this error message pops up on my desktop.
How do I repair this issue? I have found multiple suggested solutions but am unsure which one is the best, and I don't want to try a bunch of different things for fear I may make the problem worse. I would like to try and fix this myself if possible but I need to know if that is really possible or if I need to take my computer to someone for repairs. I transfered my I tunes library to my new laptop using a thumb drive. I downloaded the newest version of Itunes to my new computer. My old ITUNES library of songs and books came across just fine. I can play them on the new laptop but they won't sync with my Ipod. The Itunes shows no devices when I hook it up to the laptop. Windows recognizes that the IPOD is hooked up. But no connection with ITUNES. Did I make a mistake in trying to sync my Itunes purchases to the new laptop before transfering the old library into the new ITUNES. If so how do I undo the problem. Please help. I use a PC with Windows XP.
