Seem to be Stuck on Build 9926 & Activation Problems (Windows 10 Technical Enterprise Preview)

I appear to be stuck on Build 9926 of the Windows 10 Technical Enterprise Preview:
When I click on the Check for Updates button it appears very briefly to go through the process of checking, but never updates the "last checked" date.  I have tried switching to the fast ring but that doesn't make any
difference.
It may be relevant that I am also unable to activate the OS also.  I have tried "slui.exe 3" which fails, and also "slui.exe 4" for telephone activation which fails because there are only 7 blocks of numbers for me to verify on the
screen (A to G) but the automated system wants to enter 8 blocks (A to H).
Can anyone make a suggestion on how to get a later build?

Hi Pessable,
Please open gpedit.msc and check the following path:
Computer Configuration/Administrative Templete/Windows Components/Windows Update
On the right side, find the Configure Automatic Update, Enable this settings, then click apply.
After that, verify your registry settings is the same as below:
After that, check the update again. If the above is not going to work, use the 9926 ISO to run the DISM command:
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image
/RestoreHealth /source:WIM:X:\sources\Install.wim:1
/LimitAccess

  • Hyper-V Not Enabling on Build 10041 of the Windows Technical Preview

So I am running build 10041 of the Windows technical preview. I am not able to enable the Hyper-V Platform. Here are the steps:
Go to Control Panel -> Program and Features -> Turn Windows features on or off - > Select Hyper-V Platform Checkbox.
Windows will perform the install and request a restart.
While restarting, I will get the updating windows message and at about 95 % it gives me a message to the tune of "Unable to update windows" and it roll backs the changes and restarts. No Hyper-V.
Note that I can install the Hyper-V tools with out any issues just the Hyper-V Hypervisor and Hyper-V services will not install.
    Anyone have any ideas?

Can't provide an answer, but I have the same problem. I'd originally let my 9926 build, with Hyper-V installed and working, upgrade to the 10041 build. After installation things seemed OK, until I noticed I had no network connections working. They were all
still there, but I had no network access and trying to view the properties of either my physical NIC or the Hyper-V switches just gave me an error.
I tried uninstalling Hyper-V, but after doing that Windows wouldn't boot at all. It'd begin to start up, get almost to the login screen, but then die and reboot. I decided a rebuild would probably be best anyway, so I chose to do a Refresh when it offered
    me the advanced repair options.
The Refresh mostly went well, the PC is running better now with a clean install, but I'm now stuck in the same situation where the Hyper-V server won't install. It installs, reboots, gets part way through configuring, then claims to fail and backs it all
out again. No real diagnostic info presented as to why.

  • Known Issue: Visual Studio Tools for Universal Windows Apps Requires Windows 10 Build 10074 or later (Windows 10 Insider Preview SDK and tools, April 2015 release)

The Visual Studio Tools for Universal Windows Apps requires Windows 10 build 10074 or later. If you use an earlier build of Windows 10, you will see a notification in Visual Studio, the XAML designer will not be available, and you will get the following
error when deploying apps to your local machine:
Error : DEP0700 : Registration of the app failed. Deployment Register operation with target volume C: on Package
    <package ID> from: (<path_to_AppxManifest.xml>) failed with error 0x80073CFD. See
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=235160 for help diagnosing app deployment issues. (0x80073cfd)

To work around this issue, either
Use Windows 8.1 and deploy to the Windows Mobile Emulator
Or, update your computer from an earlier Windows 10 flight to build 10074 or later. To do this,
in Settings, open the Update & security section, and select the
Windows Update tab. Then click Check for updates.

    Hi Erez,
Could you please share us the WindowsUpdate.log file here?
From the information youposted, it seems to be Windows Update can't check for the updates, you may try to run Windows Update Troubleshooter first, it that didn't help, run the following command using the Windows 10 9926 ISO to repair:
    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image
    /RestoreHealth /source:WIM:F:\sources\install.wim:1
    /LimitAccess
F: Drive stands for the mounted Windows 10 build 9926 ISO.
    Best regards

  • Stuck on contacting iphone activation server

i tried searching forum for answer and didn't find anything
trying to update to new iphone software on my 3G.
Seems to be stuck on contacting iphone activation server.
I have tried it several different days.
I have seen other websites say to turn off wifi after it starts contacting the activation server.
    That does not work.
    Can anyone help me?
    Thank you!

You need an active connection to the internet. So if you are using Little Snitch on the Mac or other Firewall make sure you open up ports.
If you wife can update and restore then using the same user, computer, internet connection, etc should allow you to update your iPhone as well.

  • Mail activity window seems to be stuck

Using the latest version of Mail, latest OS version, etc. Two "activities" seem to be stuck in my Activity window...
    1. [Apple Mail To Do] Reconciling To Do's
    Comparing notes with server...
    2. Synchronising with server
    STOPPING: Getting unread counts
These are both to do with my MobileMe account and are DEFINITELY not doing anything, even slowly. They are stuck.
Funny thing is, everything else is working, and I can even synchronise the affected account/___sbsstatic___/migration-images/migration-img-not-avail.png It's just that these two stay there in the window and don't move.
Oh yes, and they prevent me from quitting Mail, because the Mac thinks Mail is still doing something. Even after a "force quit" these two are still there.
    Any ideas?
(And I managed not to mention Apple's spelling mistake in the word "Do's"
    Pete Bell, UK

I seemed to solve this problem by going to the MobileMe preferences pane and Signing Out of MobileMe.
I was then able to launch and quit Mail without the hanging you decribe (although my messages where about comparing with the server and updating the cache).
I then signed into MobileMe again and again was able to launch and quit without any hanging.

  • Failed to Install The New Preview Build. Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x80246007: FBL_AWESOME1501 9926 Professional.

    Hello,
I'm having issues upgrading my Windows 10 Technical Preview installation build 9879 to a newer build that's become available late January 23rd.
I am installing the new upgrade in a Hyper-V virtual machine and get the following error:
Failed to install the new preview build, please try again later. 0x80246007
    What could be the problem?
Previously I've had messages that Windows cannot be upgraded on a computer with less than 2 Gbyte of RAM. That's a Hyper-V VM with dynamic memory and I was highly surprised to see this error; never had this before. Had to set 2048 Mbytes as a minimum memory
for this VM. Now that I have this 80246007 error code.
When looking up System log, the following error messages are listed multiple times:
Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x80246007: FBL_AWESOME1501 9926 Professional.
The errors are returned for the Event ID 20 by WindowsUpdateClient
in task category Windows Update Agent..
    I reviewed the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsSelfHost\Applicability
registry key as suggested in Windows
Insider stuck on build 9841 - "No new preview build was found", and here is what it shows:
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsSelfHost\Applicability]
    "BranchName"="fbl_awesome1501"
    "ThresholdRiskLevel"="low"
    "ThresholdOptedin"=dword:00000001
Note, when attempting to install the downloaded update from a native boot, installation starts with no errors.
However, since setup is not supported for a natively booted VHD files, it does not proceed further showing a message that installation on virtual drives is not supported.
Looks like Setup is having problems installing in a Hyper-V virtual machine.
Possibly, some ESD files got corrupted during downloading? Is it possible to remove them and re-download missing files? (I, however, noticed that Windows seems to re-download upgrade files after you restart 9879 and attempt to check for a new build.
Any clue why installing under VM causes 9926 to fail?
    Thank you in advance.
Well this is the world we live in And these are the hands we're given...

    Hi,
According to the error message, this problem seems like update package installation failed during system upgrade.
You can try to remove ESD file which locate at boot of C drive and upgrade the system again for test.
On the other hand, make sure the system 9879 installed all Windows pushed updates before system upgrade.

  • Windows 10 Technical Preview 9926 activation

I just upgraded my Windows 10 Techincal Preview 9879 to the new 9926 build, and it seems needs to be activated.
I tried to use the product key displayed on the ISO download page (NKJFK-GPHP7-G8C3J-P6JXR-HQRJR), but it doesn't work.
Also if I try to just activate the Windows with the older key, it says: "Windows can't activate. Try again later."
So, the problem is with me or the OS? What should I do?

I had the same problem. This has happened to me on every in-place upgrade in the Technical Preview. I don't understand why it's not activated automatically. I noticed that the time service is not running (why, I don't know), so I cannot sync my time automatically
with time.windows.com under Internet Time Settings. My time setting is correct however.
Regardless, since it would not accept automatic activation, I found the correct product key to enter in this thread:
    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/insider/forum/insider_wintp-insider_install/default-product-key-for-windows-10-technical/fda85fbc-4f4e-47ec-ae84-3b6759723450
For Enterprise edition use this product key: PBHCJ-Q2NYD-2PX34-T2TD6-233PK
    It worked for me.
Note: there are also some updates available for this build, so install those and maybe that will help.
I've had problems with activation after the in-place upgrade from 9879 to 9926. Upgraded Windows showed it wasn't activated. Any attempts to activate it failed.
I tried to force activation by typing
    slui 3
and used the well-known PBHCJ-Q2NYD-2PX34-T2TD6-233PK key. No luck. Windows reported that it cannot be activated with this key.
Resorted to do a clean install of 9926. I am highly surprised with what I saw regarding the update from 9879 to 9926. Even now when I write these lines, I can't: use ENTER (doesn't create a new line in the post text box), use DEL, only
BackSpace works. I mean, even Microsoft forums don't work flawless with new IE. That is to say that I wasn't surprised Windows didn't update and activate properly; seems like MSFT did many changes to this build since 9879. The 9926 seems to
be a completely new Windows in many parts, not only the UI/UX.
Well this is the world we live in And these are the hands we're given...

  • GPO not applied at all with build 9926

    Hello,
I have a Samba 4 Active Directory Domain controler. My LAN is composed of XP and 7 computers ; everything works well.
I also have tested previous builds of Windows 10, and had no particular problem with Group Policies.
With build 9926, my GPOs are not applied at all. It seems there is a big change making Group Policies not applied / not reloaded when users log in. Here are step by steps what I have noticed :
    0) At the very first log in, when I do a gpresult /V, i have a message saying something like "no rsop data for this user"
    1) I performed a gpupdate /force
    2) I performed another gpresult /V and then I got information about my GPO
    3) I logged out and logged in with same user --> my GPO is applied
    4) I modified my GPO to set new policy
    5) I loggged out and in again --> old policies are applied but new policy is not applied
    6) I performed gpresult /V --> new policy is not displayed
    7) I performed a gpupdate /force and then a gpresult /V --> new policy appears
    8) I loggged out and in again --> All policies, including the new one are applied
So it seems the GPOs are not automatically updated and applied when logging in, and I have to force them manually.
The good question is : WHY ? :)
    Thanks
    Will

    Hi Will799114,
I tested this in my environment, it seems a restart would apply group policy successfully, but a sign out and sign in would not trigger this procedure.
Here I would suggest you post your feedback directly to our Feedback channel:

  • CS6 adobe bridge stuck on building criteria!!

can anyone tell me why bridge is permanently stuck on building criteria on my CS6 Adobe bridge - on my Mac
I never had this problem on my CS5 version. I never ever changed any of the default settings so something is seriously wrong with the default settings on CS6
for it to be stuck like this.
I have removed photoshop entirely and reinstalled it to try and see if i can tewak the options but it wont let me - i have to force quit to close the application
which seems to be building criteria for hours on end.
I have even left it for 24 hours to build the cache - but this did not help at all.
any ideas before i remove the whole thing and go back to using CS5!
    thanks

Ask in the Bridge forum. Chances are your BridgeCache is corrupted and you simply need to delete it.

Here is a diect copy of a reply posted by its forum moderator in another forum. Hope the content is relent to your question :
From Somak Bhattacharyya, Program Manager for the Windows Team:
If you installed Windows 10 Technical Preview build 9926, you might have run into one or more of the following issues:
    1.
The PIN you set in a previous build was not preserved.
    2.
You are able to use the PIN to sign in, but you can’t change it in PC settings.
    3.
PIN doesn’t show up as a sign in option on the logon screen, even after creating it in PC settings. (This happens if you’re using a Microsoft account.)
    4.
When signing in with an Active Directory account, you see an “Object not found” error when you try to sign in using a PIN.
We apologize for these issues. Windows Insiders, like you, are helping us to build a new, truly great Windows. Unfortunately, the journey can be a little bumpy and you probably want to know what’s
    going on.
Until Windows 8.1, the PIN was a simple 4-digit substitution for your password. With Windows 10, we are building an entire infrastructure around PIN to keep your device and your services safer and
more secure, while maintaining the simplicity of being able to sign in with a PIN. In the process of building this new infrastructure, we had to break some existing scaffolding. But not to worry, we’re working hard on this and will get the pieces put back
together again soon. You’ll be able to enjoy the convenience of a PIN again in a flight in the near future. In the meantime, please use your password to sign in.
We understand how inconvenient this is, and we assure you of a speedy resolution.
To learn more about what we’re up to, see
Jim’s blog post about the next generation of identity protection.
    Thanks and Regards,

There is no way to get around activation lock, you must recover your password for the AppelID that it is locked to:
    http://iforgot.apple.com
    iCloud: Activation Lock

Click the resize button on the Start menu (top right, the one with the 4
    arrows).

  • Text links seem to be stuck

My Muse site has a list of various forms to download. The list seems to get stuck on different titles, so you can't get to the form that you need.
    For example:
    AGENDA
    BID TAB
    NOTICE TO PROCEED
And if you go to click "NOTICE TO PROCEED," "AGENDA" would actually be highlighted and the file associated with the AGENDA link is what shows at the bottom of the browser.
This has only started occurring since the last CC update.

    Hi Pessable,
Please open gpedit.msc and check the following path:
    Computer Configuration/Administrative Templete/Windows Components/Windows Update
On the right side, find the Configure Automatic Update, Enable this settings, then click apply.
After that, verify your registry settings is the same as below:
After that, check the update again. If the above is not going to work, use the 9926 ISO to run the DISM command:
    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image
    /RestoreHealth /source:WIM:X:\sources\Install.wim:1
    /LimitAccess

  • Surface Pro 3 Display/Video/Graphics Driver Issues - DisplayPort, External Monitors, Windows 10 Build 9926

Surface Pro 3 - i5 with Intel HD Graphics 4400
    Windows 10 build 9926
    All Latest updates installed
    Intel Graphics Driver 10.18.15.4079.
Latest system update released on Jan 22nd (which I understand is just the latest intel graphics driver?).
The display driver status has this error message: Windows has stopped this device because it
    has reported problems. (Code 43)  - I assume it's
reverting to the basic Microsoft driver when this occurs. Which explains why my displayport (External monitors) will not work.
I have uninstalled the driver completely (and deleted the driver files), tried the Windows basic driver,
and rebooted several times with no luck.
I cannot get my docking station displayport or the  displayporton my surface pro 3 working.
According to Microsoft (see below), this is a known issue UNTIL you update to display driver
    version 4079  - which I have.
Known issues on Surface after updating to Windows 10 January Technical Preview
On Surface Pro 2 and Surface Pro 3, the Mini DisplayPort won’t work on the Windows 10 January Technical Preview until you’ve installed graphics driver 4079 or later. Check Windows Update often for the most recent graphics driver.
On Surface Pro 2 and Surface Pro 3, you’ll notice poor graphics rendering on the Windows 10 January Technical Preview until you’ve installed graphics driver 4079 or newer from Windows Update. Check Windows Update often for the most recent graphics driver.
If you’re using video driver 3496, you may need to start in safe mode and remove that driver. Then restart Surface in normal mode and go to Windows Update to get the most recent graphics driver.

    Hi Nicholas,
Similar issue has been asked here:
Surface Pro 3 restarting after a series of blank screens!
For error code 43, here is a reference:
Code 43: Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems
For the current situation, please try to wait for the driver update, as display driver version 4079 didn't work well at your side, please submit this through Windows Feedback Tool.
    Best regards
