    After sending the appropriate logs to the TAC I learned that even though the restore looked to have failed, at 80% the actual restore has been completed and what was failing was the node synchronization.   With this knowledge I was able to access the admin GUI and manually sync up the other nodes and have been running without issue.
    As it turns out this is  documented issue, CSCur36983, and will be fixed in release 1.4.
    Here is the reply I received from the TAC:
    "Based on the logs sent, we're definitely hitting CSCur36983 which will be
    fixed in ISE 1.4:
    https://tools.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCur36983/
    According to the bug details, when we reach 80% the restoration part itself
    has already completed. What is failing is a sync with the rest of the nodes
    in the deployment. Therefore, you can reload the ISE at this point and you
    should have access to the admin GUI again. From there, you can force a sync up  with the other nodes."

  • Segmentation fault: 11 After updating to Yosemite

    com.apple.xpc.launchd[1]: (com.apple.FolderActions.enabled[31433]) Service exited due to signal: Segmentation fault: 11
    Hi there.
    I keep getting these messages in my console log. Thousands of them. I'm just after updating Mountain lion to Yosemite and find the applications are
    very sluggish and wonder if this is the culprit.
    I have tried tired a few solutions thinking the problem might be from a past user uid being looked for but i followed this post to fix that
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/26899095#26899095
    I repaired Disk Utility permissions, restarted in Safe mode (same problem) and single user mode which stopped the logs from continuously updating (i just have to press the reload button). I used Onyx to clear out the cash files.  Basically I am at a loss as to what xpc is trying to launch
    bar a clean install have you guys any advice?
    Bit of a newbie here so if there are extra detail I can add please ask.

    Curious as to how you arrived at that conclusion from the report. I'm seeing a similar issue. Here's the console message I was getting:
    2/19/15 5:36:30.596 PM com.apple.xpc.launchd[1]: (com.apple.FolderActions.enabled[74049]) Service exited due to signal: Segmentation fault: 11
    After disabling folder actions as OP did, I get these:

  • Calling DbEnv- remove after DbEnv- close results in a segmentation fault

    I have two classes of database files: definitions that change slowly, and instances that are transient and change quickly.
    What I'm trying to do is this:
    close databases, environment
    back up files
    remove instance databases
    open new environment, existing definitions and create new instances
    This keeps returning ENOENT errors, but not consistently. The results are unpredictable and will sometimes hang. It seems to me that this is due to something in the environment not being cleared correctly. So I tried adding a remove after a close, and I get a regular and consistent segment fault as the unwrap function in cxx_env.cpp returns a NULL environment.
    This behaviour is consistent in versions 4.3, 4.5, and 4.7 on Solaris 10 and RHEL 5.
    So my question is twofold: Is there a better way to do what I'm tying to do, on that will work reliably, and shouldn't the remove operation work, even if ther's nothing to remove? I've had this problem for quite some time so any pointers would be appreciated.
    TIA,
    Dave

    Sorry. I had a major attack of the stupids. I was using old code that unlinked the underlying files instead of using a db->remove. It works much better now.

  • Segmentation Fault using Terminal after OS update to 10.6.3

    Hi folks, I did a search on the web and on this site for this info and couldn't find anything so I'm posting...
    I run gnu backgammon using terminal, which launches X11 to run the app. This has been working fine until today, after I updated to 10.6.3. I upgraded first thing this morning and the program ran fine for a few hours. I shut it down and later restarted it and I now get "segmentation fault, process ended"
    Can't find anything to help me get this resolved. Can anyone help?

    TomPDX and others:
    I've just updated to 10.6.3 and have found this segmentation fault.
    But it didn't do that immediately:
    First, it chugged away taking up 99% of the CPU. I left it overnight thinking it was just rebuilding it's databases like the first time it ran.
    Next morning I found no GNUBG. Manual restart from the command line showed segmentation fault.
    Any news on this ? I had a quick look at the gnu home page but can't find any discussion there.

  • Limitation on number of roles in oracle menu or segmentation fault in menu

    Hi All,
    Is there any limitation on the number of roles we can have in oracle menu? We are having around 300 roles created in our menu and after that if we try to add new role we are not able to compile the menu file. In the windows the form builder closes abruptly and in Linux it gives us segmentation fault error. Did anyone face the problem? Also if there is any solution then please provide the same.
    Please let me know.
    Thanks in advance!
    Ashish

    I just wonder how many forms do you have that you needed to create 300 roles. We normally create a role for one set of users. It means you've 300 different set of users for your application !!.

  • Segment fault (Core dump)

    Hi
    when i run the following Pro*c file in Unix Environment im getting the SEGMENTATION FAULT(CORE DUMP) error. I used DBX to debug the code. I couldnt find out the proper reason for this error form the dbx output.
    This is the output i got from DBX.

    You actually need to run it with "check -access"; memuse and leaks won't help with the crash, which happens because of illegal memory access. Hopefully, "check -access" will help you to locate the bad guy, but that's not panacea either.
    To be precise:
    - start dbx
    $ dbx <your app>
    - issue
    (dbx) check -access
    (dbx) run
    and wait for dbx to stop and report suspicious memory access.

  • Redhat 6.0 Webdb 2.2 Server 8.1.5 sqlplus core dump segmentation fault solution

    If anyone else is struggling with this installation, heres a workaround that
    Got things going for me.
    Redhat 6.0
    Oracle 8.1.5
    Webdb 2.2
    The database was up and working fine. Not as many problems as earlier versions but there was still much grief getting it to work. Save yourself some time, dont charge ahead like I did, read the installation notes.
    The installation of Webdb didnt go so well though. Sqlplus would core dump with segmentation fault when a connection to the local instance was attempted. I tried many things, install webdb to 8.1.5 , apply glibc patch, apply 8.0.5 patches to webdb install none of this worked. The workaround I finally found was to use the 8.1.5 listener and the old formatting of a listener.ora and tnsnames.ora file. (i.e. like 7.3.x). Sqlplus would then connect via tcp. Installation still had another problem I could never get past the sys password confirmation. I could connect from the command line with sqlplus s /nolog @passwd.sql sys/mypass@mytnsname but the installer just wouldnt work. An edit of the installation_dir ->webdb-2.2/owa40/owa40.vrf file did the trick. Hard code a location to a dummy pass.sys file.
    After many frustrating hours 160 or so - I think I finally have a working database and a working webdb web site. Hope this info might help others.

    o Did you end up with 8.1.5 and WebDB2.2 in different Oracle_homes?
    Yes - product/8.1.5
    - product/8.0.5
    o What do you mean that you used the 8.1.5 listener? My database is 8.1.5 so the tnslistener I'm using is from the 8.1.5 install - not the 8.0.5 version.
    o Can you send a sample of the tnsnames.ora file that you used?
    Sure - make sure you set TNS_ADMIN

  • GNU compiled app crashes with signal 11: Segmentation Fault

    Hi Community,
    I know this is not a GNU oriented forum, but maybe this is a common issue.
    We have a C++ multi-threaded application running properly in Solaris 9 Sparc. Due to some issues mostly related to the NICs we needed to have the application running in Solaris 10 x86. The problem is that the compilation is ok (always with GNU) but during run time, we have the application crashing in different instructions because of a signal 11.
    It always crashes in a malloc call within the libstdc++.so.6
    It was compiled with the option -mt and -lthread. Is this a known problem? Do you recommend any direction to start seeking for a solution?
    Pls, find attached the gdb outcomes after the crash.
    Thanks in advance, Pablo

    A crash in malloc in multi-threaded code could be a bug in the system malloc or a failure to use a thread-safe malloc. The default Solaris malloc in /usr/lib/libc.so.* is thread-safe.
    A crash in malloc can also be caused by a heap corruption. Probably the most common causes of heap corruption are
    - writing beyond the bounds of a buffer or variable (off by one, for example)
    - deleting the same object more than once
    - using an invalid pointer:
    --- uninitialized
    --- pointing to a deleted object
    --- pointing to an out-of-scope object
    - failure to guard a critical region
    - failing to declare shared objects as volatile

  • Xorg segmentation fault / nvidia proprietary blob

    Hi!
    I've been experiencing this issue with xorg crashing leaving the system completely unresponsive and with completely black screen. It appears to happen at random times and not consistently at all. It occurred for the first time several days ago. Unfortunately I'm not in a good position to track what may have caused this because I did pretty massive update 2-3 weeks ago. Since then I've been updating pretty regularly.
    Here are some xorg logs.
    It's pretty much full with:
    (EE) [mi] EQ overflowing. Additional events will be discarded until existing events are processed.

Everything was rock solid for me.

    I'm not sure what is supposed to happen after xorg crashes and whether it's being restarted but everything related to xorg is unresponsive. The system otherwise is running fine but I haven't been able to find a solution to recover from this other than cold restart. I tried disconnecting and reconnecting the keyboard for instance and it's being registered(probably udev is responsible for this) but it's still "dead".
    Is it nvidia's fault or something else may be going on? I know you can't really do much dealing with the binary blob. I haven't given nouveau a chance for a long time but I may try this in the future if it helps with something tracking this. I'm using nvidia 325.15-10 package from the official repos for now and the card is gtx 570 fermi. xorg is the latest one in the repos.
    I'm not sure what driver version this package is based on(325.15 I guess). On the nvidia site the newest ones are 331.13 beta and 319.60. I can try them but I'm not even sure whether there are some patches needed to make them work with the newest kernels. At least I hope someone could provide more info on this because it seems interesting.
    I'll gladly provide more info if needed. I just don't know what more could be useful.
    Thanks!

    saty,
    Is this continuing to happen for you? I am experiencing the same issue with version 325. I downgraded from 331 because there were some major bugs in that version. Have you found any solution?

  • InDesign Server CS6 (MacOS) - JavaScripting & Troubleshooting "Bus error" or "Segmentation fault"

    I'm attempting to convert a workflow from InDesign CS5.5 Desktop with AppleScript to InDesign Server CS6 with JavaScript. It seems most of our templates work fine but every now and then I run into one that seems to work properly but right after we export to PDF and JPG which is the final step in the script I get either a Bus error or a Segmentation fault error. The files do export and the console sits idle for a few seconds then I get the crash. It doesn't seem to give me anything else and I can't find a crash dump or core file anywhere on disk to examine.
    The exact same input files on InDesign CS5.5 Desktop completing a very similar automation task via AppleScript work without an issue or error. I'm not certain if it's a problem with the way the InDesign files were put together, a version problem between a CS5.5 file and CS6, or something that I'm doing wrong in the script.
    Is there a way to get InDesign Server to go into debug or verbose mode so that it will show more than just two word errors on crash?  I've read a few people talking here about the debug version but every path I've found to get access to the debug version runs into a roadblock with a bad link.
    I would appreciate a point in the current right direction for how to debug these templates this script.

    Re: verbose mode. These are not InDesign error messages. They are system errors, saying that an app (InDesign?) crashed, went away, hence could not issue any kind of message. Crash logs are the place to start. If they don't help, and the crash is outside your code, after that it's over to the maintainer (Adobe?)
    Worth sharing a suitable crash log, as the list of routines active at the crash can narrow down issues.

  • Segmentation Fault in db- put() fun with BDB ver 4.5.20/4.6.19 in linux

    I am working on porting an application that runs on sun solaris sparc (OS ver 5.8) with Berkeley DB ver 4.2.50 into suse linux [ Linux version 2.6.5-7.244-smp (gcc version 3.3.3 (SuSE Linux)) ]. I have compiled the application in linux and i am getting segmentation fault error while running the application. The error occurs while the objects are loaded from the database into berkeley cache. The application fails in db->put function while loading the objects. This segmentation fault error is not consistently occuring every time on the same object. Sometimes it throws the error while loading the first object itself or sometimes it throws after loading couple of objects. But the stack trace shows the same function whenever it crashes.
    Given below is the stack trace of the application when it throws SIGSEGV.

    RefServer.cpp:296Did you build the libraries stripped or otherwise remove debugging information?
    run "file /opt/home/pesprm/local/db-4.6.19/db-4.6.19/build_unix/.libs/libdb-4.6.so"
    Also, if I'm not mistaken this is Linux you're porting to, right? Might want to drop the "/opt" Solaris-ism as you continue to port more to Linux.
    The code that calls the db->put() function is given
    below:
         if (pTable->getDataOffset() == -1)Does this return an unsigned or signed value?
    pTable->setDataOffset(
    t( (int)(pObj->getDataBufferStartPos() -
    pObj->getDataStartPos()) );You cast to int here, what's the background reasoning for it?
         DB* pdb = pTable->getDB();
         int rc = 0;You don't check pdb is valid.
    Synchronize
    e sync(pPrimaryKey->getKeyBufferCriticalSection());
    pPrimaryKey->getKeyValues(pObj,
    , pPrimaryKey->getKeyBuffer());
         DBT key, data;
         memset(&key, 0, sizeof(DBT));
         key.flags = DB_DBT_USERMEM;
    key.data =
    = (void*)pPrimaryKey->getKeyBuffer().getBuffer();Do you verify this is even valid? Have you also checked the code within a debugger and verified the logic is correct?
    key.ulen = key.size =
    = pPrimaryKey->getKeyBuffer().getBufferLength();Same thing.
         memset(&data, 0, sizeof(DBT));
         data.flags = DB_DBT_USERMEM;
         if (pTable->isPrimaryDb())
              data.data = (void*)pObj->getDataBufferStartPos();
              data.ulen = data.size = pObj->getDataBufferSize();How do we know these are even valid? You're coming from the perspective that your code makes no mistakes when I have a hunch it does.
    rc = pdb->put(pdb, (DB_TXN*)transactionId, &key,
    y, &data, DB_NOOVERWRITE);Right, and this will most definitely result in a segmentation violation if you don't pass it valid data.
    You're on Linux, I highly suggest you download and build Valgrind, run your application w/ valgrind --tool=memcheck, and get back to us. Also, don't strip debugging information from the berkeley db libraries during this phase of troubleshooting - especially when you're still porting something over.
    I have tried using the BDB versions
    4.5.20/4.6.18/4.6.19 with the application and it
    throws segmentation fault error with all versions of
    BDB.Because the issue isn't within BDB.
    We are using the Sybase Adaptive DB server running in
    Solaris/Linux servers. The same application that
    runs in Solaris connecting to Sybase DB (in solaris)
    is working perfectly fine.More correctly, it was working perfectly fine under Solaris. That doesn't even mean that it's not taking part in undefined behavior - it just means it "worked."

  • Segmentation fault while updateing [SOLVED]

    Hello all,
    I got this probem a few days ago, trying to run 'pacman -syu' ends in a segmentation fault.
    I have no clue what to do abou it..
    I first tryed to update zlib manual as it was last in the list, worked fine. So i tryed wine and trying to update wine end in a segmentation fault.
    I uninstalled wine and now i cant reinstall it.

    output 2: after installing zlib and removing wine
    output 3: from when i try to install wine again.
