Select all in email

I'm a new iMAC owner and how do I use the mouse to select all in email? What I want to do is delete all the emails in my trash. On a PC I can right click and select all would appear. On my iMacI know I can use cmdA or move the cursor to edit on the task bar at the top and click select there. Both these solutions are combersome. Further, can I right click in text to get to select all?
Thanks,
Mr. Allen

You can arrange to have the Trash mailbox emptied on a regular schedule. Open Mail preferences, click on the Accounts icon in the toolbar. Select your account. Click on the Mailbox Behaviors tab. You can configure the Trash mailbox to be emptied regularly by selecting an option from the drop down menu.

  • How to bulk delete email - not 5 or 10 by selecting all the emails one by one but "delete before..." or similar

    Hi Cimmunity
as you often traval and as you say have a lot of emails: how do you delete them in masses like bulk delete? on my old blackberry (newstes except z10) I had the option to "delete all before (...) date" in the context menu and could delete 1500 emails with one tap. do you know how to do this now? there is no such function, one have to tap and mark every single email, even if there are 2000!!!!! crazy!!
    thanks a lot!!
BB: please urgently add the feature again...!!!! I have a imap account with about 200 emails a day which are just copies of enterprise mail and need to delete hundreds every day. I can not tap and select all the single mails one by one and then delete.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Go into the hub, select email account, Just under the blue email account, click and hold the date bellow it , slider pops on the right, click on Trash can(delete prior).

  • HT1343 I have selected all my emails (to try and apply an archiving rule) and now want to de select them all, help!

I used 'select all' for my emails and now don't know how to deselect.  Tried cmd option A but no good.

Deleting an account from the phone does just that - it does not affect the account per se as the phone is just a client (receptacle) where emails are delivered.
    For example
    I have a Gmail account -
I can access it on the web
    On my computer
    On my phone
If I delete the account from my phone - I can still access the emails etc from my computer and the web
It is a different story with emails themselves. -  sometimes the way they are set up - deleting emails on one device sync deletes it from everywhere
    Hope that answers your questions

  • Selecting all unread emails

    Hi all,
I was curious how I could quickly select all unread messages. I hate having to click each one to mark them as read. Is there a way to select all unread. Then mark as read?

    Try this:
    1. Go to the account
    2. Select the inbox.
    3. Tap edit & select any email
    4. Hold down the button
    5. While holding the Mark All button, deselect the email
    6. Release the Mark All button
    7. Press the Mark All button again.
    Done

  • Why is there no option to select all email as read?

I've had to reinstall my backed up iphone data 4 times and each time I have to manually select all my emails and mark them as read.
This is kind of ********, selecting all of your email and marking it or deleting it has been a feature on every mobile devise for over 5 years. Why isn't it an option on my Iphone. Why is apple trying to make me buy an app for this common task to get done!!!!

Because some habitual whiner may accidentally delete all email in an account's Inbox mailbox.
You have to do this because you are using an antiquated POP account type. No such problem with an Exchange or IMAP account.
selecting all of your email and marking it or deleting it has been a feature on every mobile devise for over 5 years.
    Hogwash.
It isn't an option on an iPhone to drive habutual whiners nuts.
Don't like it, according to you this is a feature on every single mobile device released over the last 5 years so you shouldn't have any problem purchasing another device that meets your most important want/need.

  • When is there going to be a select all/delete all option in email? I need to search for certain emails and delet them from my phone but not my email program (Outlook)

when will there be a select all/delete all option in Emails? I have a large number of emails that come to my phone which i dont want to delete from my outlook mail account (On my PC). However, i want to be able to search, select all and delete these emails from my phone? I do not use ICloud either as it causes issues with my calendars at work.
These features should be a standard as there are plenty of other users out there that are trying to do the same thing and as yet there has been no progress? The email on the iphone is one of the biggest downfalls of the phone, blackberry and android handle them much better, but i dont have an option with my phone at work. Please help??

No one here would have any idea when or if such a feature would be introduced until and unless Apple announces it.

  • How do I "Select All" email messages at once for deletion rather than touching each one?

I receive many emails each day and many of them I would like to delete all at once.  But the only way so far I have been able to figure out how to do that is to manually select each and every one of the emails I want to delete then hit delete.
That is fine when I only have 5 or 6 email to get rid of, but I regularly have anywhere from 50 to 200 at a time to delete.
I cannot locate a "Select All" option in any of the menus.
    Any Ideas?
    Thanks
    Jerry

How do I select and email a whole lot of photos on my iPad from my iPad emails? It seems I have to go into Email and then insert one photo at a time? Isn't there a way to select all in the photos and then email the batch.?

Actually, you can email up to 5 at a time from the Photos app. Select any more and the email share option will not appear.
If you explain why you need to email large numbers of photos, we might be able to offer an alternative.

Is there a way to select all emails at once on the iPad and then delete them at one time?

Tap on the edit button at  the top right of the email list. This will let you select the emails to delete, once all are selected, tap on the bottom right button that says delete to delete them all at once.

I am soooooooooooo confused now.  Ok, if you are having problems with Yahoo Mail and Gmail but you do not use Apple's Mail you need to do the following:
1 - Post in Yahoo's Mail forums and/or contact their tech support.
2 - Post in Gmails forums and/or contact their tech support.
Neither of the above are Apple's products.

  • Where is the all button to select to delete  emails

Can you help me to delete all emails?

All leading email applications, including mobile ones (Blackberry, Android), and free email providers (Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo...) all have a "Select All" function after a Search has been performed.
    1. Delete spams from same sender/subject/content
    2. Mark multiple emails from same sender as read (e.g. newsletters) with a simple Search + Mark All As Read, or delete them with a simple Search + Delete All.
    3. Move multiple emails with same criterion
Example: "I have a subscription to many newsletters. Each of them send me douzens of emails daily. Today, I have read the titles of all my emails from CNN. After opening those that I felt the need to further reading, there are still 35 of them marked unread. I just want to do Search CNN->Mark All As Read to finish with CNN and move to Reuters, etc. Not select them 1-by-1."
To stay competitive as an email platform for any purpose, Apple must implement it ASAP.
Nobody likes to see "350 unread emails" when they know 345 of them (many of which have same sender/subject) don't need to be opened.
1-by-1 selection is particularly painful on a smartphone.

  • I sometimes have over 1000 junk emails clogging my phone.  I would like to know if there is a way to 'select all' in order to delete them.  Deleting emails often takes me ungodly time.

Please let me know if there is a way to select all emails and delete them.  Selecting, scrolling, selecting and scrolling is tedious when you have 1000-2000 junk emails to wade through.

At the top of this page, click your name, where yours says "Welcome, linda166":
Click the link "Manage email notifications":
Click the checkbox at the upper right - to the right of where it says "Date" - this selects all of the messages on the page:
Click the button "Remove selected notifications":
Click "Next" and repeat for each page. You may have less than 213 pages.

  • Can't select-all to set up folder to share photos via email

Following directions, I imported photos from cds, and created files for them. Except for a few early efforts, I can no longer share multiple photos via email. The select-all feature will highlight but not outline all photos, only one, and that is the only one that ends up in the email.

I'm so sorry, I wasn't aware I was posting in the 08 arena. iPhoto 6.0.6.
Directions were from help, but also googled for iphoto. The pictures are in the mac. I hit the + button to, pardon my miserable mac vocabulary, to create a folder. I thought that is what it is called. I used to be able to go to SHARE, after creating said "folder" or whatever you call it, and then after choosing "select all", all the photos in that -- whatever you call it -- would appear in the body of the email, and all I had to do was move them around, add text, and send it off.
Now, when I hit "select all" only one photo, the one on the far left, is "highlighted" in blue. In some cases I can get all the photos in that, whatever you call it, surrounded by a gray box, with only one encircled in blue. But only the one highlighted ends up in the email.
I'm sorry for being such a moron, but I remember when Apple was easy enough to use that you didn't have to have a ten year old in your house to show you how to use it. And there was no specialized language.

  • Why the emails in ios cannot be select all with one click?? i have to select one each time to can delete all...i need so much one button "mark all emails" in the mail of ios on my iPhone)

    hello, all...
Please somebody know one way to select all emails in one touch in ios on iphone.
In brazil, were i live, nobody have this answer.
    Thanks a lot.
    Paula

This does not answer/solve the OP's question/problem as they would still have to select each email individually before selecting the "delete all" button. In the end this the same as selecting "delete" on each message individiually.
There is no practical way to do what the OP wants.
