Select button only works to reset

This is really ***** me off. If i ever buy an 1st gen ipod mini ever again it will be to soon, i now know why they dicontinued it. Anyways i bought a broken mini from ebay with a broken clickwheel wire. I than bought and installed a 1st gen clickwheel. Since installed the clickwheel the select button wont work in the menu, but i can still reset the mini. Ive allready restored it numerous times. And the warrenty is over!!

At any rate... You might try a third party repair service. I see ipodresq recommended on these forums quite a bit.

I have a first generation iPod Mini which has an unresponsive select button. It will only function to reset the Mini (Menu + Select).
I have restored the iPod Mini with both the June 2006 iPod Updater and iTunes 7.0.2, and performed many a reset. Nothing appears to have helped.
Any ideas?

Well, duh?!?
You tore it apart an dremoved & replaced bits an pieces. Even if the warranty time frame was still good, your actions would have voided it completely.

Touch Select Button not work

Well this thing just will not work and I cannot figure it out for the life of me. Here is the problem.
Music loads fine. Music will play fine.
However, when I go to the menu, and press the middle button, or any button that is suppose to select a menu option such as Music Library, Photos, Video ETC...it doesn't go there..it just goes to Now Playing and picks a random song from the album of the day and plays it. It does this EVERYTIME.
I bought the thing about 8 months ago, and I never used it once I just found a use for it so am desperately wanting to get it working and it won't.
Is this a common problem with an easy fix? What do I do? I tried doing the thing where you hold the power button and press the reset button to reformat or something, and I can get there but the select button doesn't work so I can't select it! But in turn I know the select button DOES work as when I press it it plays a song..just seems screwed up.
PLEASE HELP!

Apple, as I said, does not repair your iPhone. All hardware service issues are handled by replacing the unit. So they can't handle the home-button issue without also addressing the issue of the cracked screen, for which they'll almost certainly charge you. But you can make an appointment at an Apple Store or call Apple tech support and plead your case.

I can't get the patch select buttons to work in edit mode.

I can't get the patch select buttons to work in edit mode. When I select any template, the set buttons or the patch buttons don't work at all. My up and down arrows work fine but I need the on screen buttons to be assigned to my footswitch.

In edit mode, at concert level, select the pedal. Then in the screen control inspector, in the mappings tab, select actions>next patch.

Those needed files are not served by your iDisk. They are served using Apple servers and only work for .Mac (iDisk) accounts.

Radio Buttons only work after selecting another field

In my Access 2010 database, I have an option group consisting of 3 radio buttons. If I select the first button I Access will allow me, but if I then want to change my selection to the third button I can only do so if I select another field
before I can make the button change. Now, if I want to change my selection again from the third button to the second button, I must select another field then select the second button.
I just can't figure out what is going on here. Does anyone have any clue or explanation that will help me??? Thank you!

I will add that originally this option group of radio buttons was working perfectly fine. This issue surfaced when I included a tab control to the form and moved all the fields onto the first tab.
It seems that having to select another field before changing a radio selection is limited when using the mouse; however, if I use any of the up/down or left/right arrow keys on the keyboard it will change radio button selections without selecting another field
(as one would expect it to).

Probably it has something to do with the focus of the form (first tab) with the radio buttons. Someway that form looses focus when clicking a radio button. By selecting another field the form receives focus again, so you can use the radio buttons again.
You can check it happens in this way.

9630 Keyboard/Buttons not working; hard resets and multiple reloads of OS did not correct

My BlackBerry 9630 Tour is a little more than a year old. Yesterday the keyboard, trackball, and all buttons stopped working while I was typing out an email. I could not power off the Blackberry without removing the battery for a hard reset. Unfortunately, even after many hard resets, the problem persisted, so I went to the forums for help and tried everything that seemed relevant (multiple times) with no success.
After reviewing a number of tech support posts, this problem does not appear to be unique to any given model of BB and contact with liquids is cited as a common but not the only cause for this condition.
I was outside on a very hot and humid day when the malfunction occurred so it is possible some perspiration may have come into contact with the keypad, convenience buttons, or trackball and caused the lockup.
I'm looking for someone with more smarts than me to help me troubleshoot, identify the actual problem, and identify the proper corrective actions. See below for a synopsis of my actions taken, with the exception of taking it to the shop for repair/replacement.
The corrective actions listed on the forums and blogs are varied but essentially fall into two primary solutions:
1. If moisture is suspected to be the issue, let the BB dry out overnight
    a. Pull the battery, naturally air dry or use a blow dryer, let it sit unplugged with no battery for at least 12 hours
    b. If this doesn't immediately work, try a clean install of the OS (see below)
    c. If this doesn't work, take to the shop and they'll either replace the keyboard and/or trackball or replace entire unit
2. If moisture is not suspected to be a factor then perform a backup followed by a clean install of OS
     a. Backup your files using Desktop Manager Backup and Restore
     b. Do a clean reinstall OS using Desktop Manager Application Loader
         i. The OS installation process is dicey and takes a little patience and focus-- you have to wait for the Desktop Manager to properly recognize the device before it can proceed on some of the steps and it may take several iterations to get completely through the process and get the "successful installation" message.
         ii. Further, you may need to keep the battery removed during the initial steps in the process and only insert it when the process gets to the point of actually trying to copy files into the BB memory
            * The BB LCD will display an icon that looks like a battery with a slash through it letting you know the process cannot proceed until a battery is inserted and the Desktop Manager Application Loader will also give you an error indicating it cannot find the device.
            * After inserting the battery, it will take a few seconds or more for the computer to recognize the USB device and for Desktop Manager to respond with the BB password pop-up window.
            * After typing in your BB password, the installation should continue.
    c. If you can get the OS successfully reloaded and your keyboard/trackball/buttons work -- great -- now restore your files and settings using Desktop Manager Backup and Restore and get on with your life.
    d. If this does NOT work after multiple successful clean OS installations apparently you are completely hosed; the only other option is to get it to the shop for repair or replacement.

Took BB to Sprint Store and technician took it apart, saw no evidence of moisture or any other damage, and concluded that the keyboard had failed. Not an uncommon occurance.
Also, he told me you cannot simply replace the keyboard, it is integral to the systemboard, so you need to replace the entire device.
He did commend the troubleshooting approach used prior to going to the store -- most folks won't take the time to do even basic troubleshooting (like taking out the battery), they just go to the store and say "fix it please". He confirmed that the steps outlined in the initial post were correct and did not have any other solutions.
Take away:
If you want to do some troubleshooting yourself to check for moisture, the process was pretty straightforward. After watching the technician, most folks with a little technical or mechanical aptitude should be able to manage the dismantling process. You just need a small phillips head screwdriver and a little patience. Good lighting and a magnifying glass or reading glasses also help!

Power Button only works at startup, but non-functional afterwards.

For a Macbook Pro 15
A1226 / OS 10.6.8 / 2.2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
(1) When the computer is on, and i press the power button , the shutdown menu used to come on, but does not now.
(2) When i press & hold the power button, the computer does not force shutdown, even when i hold it down for 30 seconds.
(3) When I shutdown the computer via the apple menu, i cannot start the computer up using the power button
(4) However, disconnecting the trackpad ribbon cable from the logic board, then reconnecting, the power button is operational allowing the computer to start back up
(5)When I put the computer to sleep via the apple menu, it goes to sleep, and i can wake it up
(6) When I restart via the apple menu, it powers down then restarts without any problems
(7)The force quit keyboard short cut will not work most likely in that it uses the power button as a shortcut.
So pursuant, to (4) above, it seems that the power button is non-functional after starting it up, and will only work after connecting/reconnecting the ribbon cable
