Select CSV output columns

Hi,
I am using APEX 3.1.2.00.02 and was wondering why you can select which columns to output on the Print Attributes tab, but not select which columns are outputted to the CSV download on the Report Attributes tab.
Graham

Hello Graham,
I don’t have an answer to your question, but if you’re looking for a practical solution, the following might help - Re: Condtional Export to Excel .

  • Split CSV output column

    I need to split a exported field from CSV file generated by Export-CSV Serverlist.csv in VMWare PowerCLI.
    Get-VM * | Select Name,Notes | Export-Csv Serverlist.csv -NoTypeInformation
    Current CSV output:
    Name
    Note
    Server1 Exchange Server at HQ
         Group=5
    *** I need to move "Group=5" to next column instead in the same field.  Every Note field have Group=x.
    Name
    Note Group
    Server1 Exchange Server at HQ
    Group=5

    If I understand you correctly, you want to take the csv file you just made and create a csv file with three headings: Name, Note, Group. The value for Group is currently listed in the Note field.
    Import-CSV Serverlist.csv |
    Select Name, @{Name="Note";Expression={($_.Note -split "Group\=")[0]}},@{Name="Group";Expression={(($_.Note -Split "(Group\=)")[1..2]) -join ""}} |
    Export-CSV newServerlist.csv -NoTypeInformation

  • Apex 3.1.2 - missing column in CSV output

    Hi,
    We recently moved our application to apex 3.1.2. There is a report with a CSV output that worked fine in apex 3.0.
    With the same report in apex 3.1.2, one column is missing in the CSV file but is showing on the report. Show column is set to YES, include in export is set to YES and there is no condition in the column attributes.
    Any idea what my cause this problem ?
    Patrick

    I've found the problem. In the print attributes of the report, the column that was missing in the csv file had a column width set to null. When I put 10 in that field (same as the other columns), it suddenly appears in the csv file.
    If I set the column width back to null, the column dissapears again. This must come from the upgrade to apex 3.1.2.
    To find columns that could have this problem, I suggest you take a look at APEX_APPLICATION_PAGE_RPT_COLS.
    +select *+
    from apex_application_page_rpt_cols
    where include_in_export = 'Yes'
    and nvl(print_column_width,0) = 0

  • Csv output has database column names instead of aliases as in template

    Hi,
    I'm trying to publish a csv report to an ftp server in a specific format and layout. The column names need to be customized. I've modified the alias name both in the data model and in the rtf layout template. But the csv still contains the data base names as in column0, column 1, etc. Does anyone know how to fix this? The html or rtf format displays the correct column names but not the csv.
    output sent:
    Column 0 Jane
    Column 1 Doe
    Column2 Female
    desired output:
    Name Jane
    Last Name Doe
    MF Female

    As far as i know CSV output will not consider any template formatting. it will basically give output of all the columns used in select statement of SQL in comma separated format.
    It is the default behavior of CSV output in bi publisher

  • CSV output selects all values returned by htmldb_item.select_list_from_lov

    I have a report with several columns using htmldb_item.select_list_from_lov. When I enable CSV Output (export to Excel) All the values in each of the columns get exported to Excel, not only the one selected in the report. For example. A value of ABC is selected in the report (stored in the database and this is a valid value in the LOV). In the drop down I also have values of DEF, GHI and IJK. I would expect only ABC to be exported, but I actually get ABC, DEF, GHI, IJK (all possible values) instead all displayed in the same column.
    Any ideas?

    I was able to work through this problem. Thank You.

  • CSV Output for Classic Reports 100 columns.

    Hi,
    After hours of research and several attempts, I still haven't been able to figure out a way to export a report in CSV format. I can't use an Interactive Report as the view I am displaying on the report is larger than 100 columns. Although all the columns are displayed on the report,the CSV Output link doesn't export all the columns. Can anyone help me out? I would really appreciate it.
    Thanks a lot.

    Were we looking at the same page?  That page shows an ORACLE PACKAGE that you can modify if need be to get what you want.  It's NOT a plugin with wrapped code..

  • CSV output includes div info in first column

    All,
    I have a report on a page that allows for CSV output. For some reason when I look at the output the first column in the header row includes div information and appears as follows:
    <div id="report_1585218597659393_catch">"Title"Then in the last column there is an "</div>". Does anyone know what would cause this? I've tried changing some column names and even deleting and recreating the report but neither helped.
    Dan

    All,
    As was pointed out in earlier replies, this is being caused by enabling PPR pagination. If PPR and CSV export are both needed, I would suggest using the pre-3.1 style PPR report templates. Those have the PPR stuff burned in directly.
    I did fix the underlying bug though, yet this is not in the latest 3.1.1 patch release. So I don't know when this fix will become available.

  • How to select even the column names of a table?

    Hello All,
    Is there a way to select even the column names of a table in the select statement?
    My select from a table (say X) is in a SQL* Plus script that gets invoked by application tier and displays data in the application tier window. User's can then copy the data into a spreadsheet and do their processing. However, I need to give them the column names too along with the data.
    Thanks,
    Chiru

    If there is a middle tier that is selecting and
    displaying the data, and that's what the users are
    copying from, the middle tier would have to address
    its presentation of the data to allow users to
    include column names. If this is a common task, the
    application should probably be modified to give users
    the option of downloading the data in a spreadsheet
    directly rather than forcing them to copy and paste
    data.Thanks for the reply.
    The users don't have to copy paste. The application tier has an options in the "Tools" menu item which allows them to copy the entire output to a file (in my case a txt file which is a pipe delimited). Then they have to do text to columns to get the data into each column of the spreadsheet. I could have directly called the stored procedures from the application tier and created ".csv" files and FTP'd them to the user's folders. However, I am having to go this round about because, I am not getting enough support from the LAN team in FTP'ing etc.
    OK I'll think of another workaround.
    Thanks,
    Chiru

  • Values for htmldb_item.text  field do not display in CSV output

    HTML DB experts,
    I have a report query with the following 2 items in the SELECT statement:
    wwv_flow_item.display_and_save(2, DOC_CD, 10) DOC_CD,
    htmldb_item.text(3, DOC_DESC, 50, 255) DOC_DESC
    I have enabled the CSV output for this report. The problem is, when I generate a csv file, only the DOC_CD (wwv_flow_item.display_and_save) displays. The values for the DOC_DESC (htmldb_item.text) do not display. What do I need to do to get the DOC_DESC to display?
    Thanks for your help.

    Items rendered using htmldb_item generate HTML tags on the form, not plain text. You are right, the CSV export excludes them.
    Your best best is to create another report region on some other page with the same query except replace all the htmldb_item() calls with regular columns i.e. make it a read-only report and use the "export: CSV" template and put up a link to this page at the bottom of your editable report (instead of the builtin CSV link). This way when you click on this link, it will generate your report and immediately offer to export it to CSV
    Hope this helps.

  • Restricting the CSV Output

    Hi
    we want to restrict some of the columns in the csv output is there any way to do it other than using extext templates.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Have a Nice day

    Thanks for your reply .
    But i am having some idea will it can be implemented.
    as you said it will depend on the datamodel .
    Consider i am having 2 datasets in my datamodel for my report to get the pdf,html,excel.
    so i want to add one more data set in the same data model with llimited number of columns in the select query and i want to use that dataset in the datamodel in the report generation when i choose the csv ouput.
    Is it possible i am using bi publisher 11g.
    So if it is possbile i can restrict my output in csv format too.
    This is my idea i dont know whether it is possible or not.

  • Use a flexible Filename in REPORT CSV OUTPUT

    -> ReportAttributes -> csv-output -> filename
    I tried to use &item. and :Item but it seems the FILENAME of the csv-output is fixed. But I would like to give a name depending from context. Any ideas ?

    Marc,
    Sure. The region is a PL/SQL function body returning a SQL query :
    declare q varchar2(256);
    begin
    q := 'select * from ' || v('CURRASSVIEW');
    if v('CURRASSSLXID') IS NOT NULL THEN
    q := q || ' WHERE INSTR(' || '''' || v('CURRASSSLXID') || '''' || ', SLXID ) > 0';
    end if;
    return q;
    end;
    Where CURRASSVIEW is an app item that is the name of a VIEW object behind the scenes. Various view objects have been created to peek into a data wharehousing scheme. Unfortunately, I can't go into great detail....my company would freak if I posted actual data (pharmaceutical). However, I have tracked it down to the following scenario :
    One of the columns that comes through is a VARCHAR2(2). The excel-spoolling is fine while this column is empty, and when the report in Excel reaches a row with a value in this column, it dies. The values are all of length 1, so I'm not sure where else to look.
    Sorry for lack of details...any hints you could give as to where to continue research would be appreciated.
    Matt

  • How to avoid HTML tags in CSV output

    Hi,
    I have a Interactive Report, some of the columns are links which are derived from functions as shown below.
    function1 (p1) - this function will return a url something like
              '<a href=f?p=........>'||p1||'</a>';
    select col1, col2, function1(col3) from table1Report Output
    11     22     _33_(link)CSV Download Output
    11     22     <a href=f?p=........>33</a>Report output is perfectly fine and links are also displayed correctly..*no issues*
    BUT when I download this as a CSV output...I am getting all the html tags *< a* along with href=..f?p=... */ a >* in the CSV file
    Is there any way to avoid these html tags in the CSV download file.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
    I am using following conditions (Interactive Report)..as shown below.. just say columns are DEPT and DEPT_EXPORT.
    IR Report column
       DEPT
         - condition- PL\SQL Expression... :REQUEST != 'CSV'
         (this will display as a normal IR column)
    Export Column
       DEPT_EXPORT
         - condition- PL\SQL Expression... :REQUEST = 'CSV'
         (this will display only in case of export to csv)1. When I run the report and do CSV download..sometime ..I get the DEPT_EXPORT column in the CSV file..sometime not..*No idea why it is happening..it's not consistent.*
    2. Secondly, I need to display DEPT_EXPORT column in CSV export..only when DEPT column has been selected in the Interactive Report.
    If no DEPT column in IR...no DEPT_EXPORT column in CSV. Is it possible??
    Thanks,
    Deepak

  • Problem Reagding CSV output

    hi
    WE have a requirement like in csv ouput only selected columns has to displayed . so in order to achieve that so many has suggested to go for etext template
    so i have develope dthe etext template and uplated to bip as etext template and now it shows the supported output formats as text,xml ,csv.
    Text output come fine with the slected columns in etext template but when comes to csv it is not using etext templat
    so i am getting all the columns in the select query even though i have used etext template for csv output.
    can anyone please give me any idea about this.
    Thanks in Advance

    If some could specify solution for this, it will be great help for me.
    I ll give an example:
    if the data model contains 5 columns and if I design template with 2 columns with some aggregation function included .Then if I try to view the same report in csv format, it displays all the 5 columns from the data model without considering the template. But when I try to view the same report in different format (excel, html, pdf, etc) it is displaying as it is uploaded in the bi publisher. So I request someone to give solution for the same
    And i want add one more question to this post
    when the bi publisher report viewed in a csv format, it includes the column header as well. I want to remove these header from the csv output.

  • No data found in csv output

    I have a classic (non-interactive) report that shows some strange behaviour.
    It's a simple page with a report region.
    On the report attributes page under 'report export' the value for 'Enable CSV output' is set to 'Yes' and 'Link label' has a meaningful discription.
    In the development database it works as expected:
    When I run the page the data is displayed and when I click the link for csv output I can either save or open the file. In both cases I find the data I expect in the csv file.
    In production, however, when I run the page the data is displayed, but when I click the link for csv output the resulting csv file just shows "No Data Found"
    I can imagine the report not returning any data, but in that case I shouldn't see any data on screen either.
    And it's extra weird that in development it all works fine.
    Anybody that can offer any help?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Eric
    I would never dream of telling anyone not to argue with me :D I've been wrong before and will be again, no doubt!
    For the DIV problem, I was more concerned with &lt; appearing in the output rather than the SQL statement itself - generally problems such as this happen when something on the page is incorrectly formed. When you get a chance, in FireFox, install the Web Developer add-on. When this is installed, on the right-hand end of its toolbar, you will see three buttons - the last two tell you about css and javascript errors. For HTML errors, if you have a text editor that has syntax highlighting, do a View Source on the loaded page, take a copy of the source and paste it in to a new document in the text editor. Save this with an HTML file extension. This should colour-highlight everything. It should become obvious what is wrong as you tend to end up with way too much in the same colour. Finally, on the loaded page, right-click on the DIV text and select Inspect Element - this switches you to a heirarchical view of the HTML on the page in the FireBug pane. Follow the tree up from the DIV and have a look at the structue - at some point, something will look wrong.
