Select next clip?

Something probably really basic, but is there a keyboard shortcut to enable selection of the next clip in the timeline?  I can use pageup or pagedown to go to the start of each clip, but I actually want to be able to select it (instead of having to manually click it with my mouse).
Is this possible?
Thanks

Adam,
I agree that it would be a nice addition.
Though references to a Feature Request in the past, shows that we are not alone, we will never know how many others have made the request.
Adobe prioritizes the requests, and will factor in the number of requests for a feature. Some will reach the "top of the To Do list," are easy to implement, and will then be incorporated. Some might reach the top, but take some major coding changes, so might find themselves in another To Do list, and depending on the coding task, may, or may never see the light of day.
Feature Requests are very good things, and Adobe takes them seriously, so I would definitely file one.
Good luck,
Hunt

  • Is it possible to select multiple clips and create a sequence from each individually?

Is it possible to select multiple clips and create a sequence from each individually?  If you select multiple clips and select "New Sequence from Clip" it puts all of the clips into one sequence.  Is there an easy way to quickly perform this on multiple selected clips separately?

So now I *have* used Butler with PPro, and it works very well, here's an idea of how to do it:
    Import folder of clips
Ensure first clip selected in bin and sorted by Media Type
Most of these commands need shortcuts assigning - mine listed below
    Macro:
To create seq from selected clip:
      ‘New seq from clip’ (Shift+CMD+N)
    To duplicate this seq:
‘Reveal Sequence in project’ (Shift+F) - not strictly necessary as it will already be selected
      ‘Window | Project’ (CMD+9)
      ‘Edit | Duplicate’ (Shift+CMD+/)
    To rename the duplicate
      ‘Enter’
Various keystrokes to rename as required
‘Enter’ - to make name stick
‘Shift+Enter’ - to reselect that sequence
‘Esc’ - to get out of editing name
    To change resolution of duplicate:
      ‘Sequence Settings’ (CMD+5)
‘Tab’ x 3 (to get to H Frame Size)
      ‘xxxx’ (to enter frame width)
‘Tab’ x 1 (to get to V Frame Size)
      ‘yyyy’ (to enter frame height
‘Enter’ x 2 as prompt will say previews will have to be deleted
To then find next clip ready for macro to run again:
      ‘Open in Timeline’ (Shift+CMD+O)
      ‘Match Frame’ (Shift+Spacebar)
      ‘Reveal in Project’ (Shift+CMD+F)
      ‘Window | Project’ (CMD+9)
‘Down Arrow’ - to select next clip
I tried it with Butler (manytricks.com - free trial, $20 to buy) and it worked a treat, takes about 3 secs per clip
AHK (for windows) is at autohotkeys.com and is free.
You could start making multiple macros - that would enable you to do grade / resize in middle of duplication - and then export etc, but I figure you can figure that out ;-)

  • To select previous or next clip

i can select a clip that i want using the mouse in final cut pro 7. but after a certain time, this action becomes more difficult. for example, when i want to select the clip  in previous or next of the cursor, which keyboard shortcut i should use? in short, can any clip select without using the mouse?

    With the timeline active:
Go to next clip - type the ' key (apostrophe) then then type the x key to select it.
Go to previous clip- type the ; key (semicolon) then type the x key to select it.
Using the ' and the ; key should let you step around the timeline as you wish.

  • How to move the CTI to the beginning to next clip in Timeline ?

    Hi there,
Is there a shortcut to move the CTI to the beginning of the next clip ?
    I wanted to do this:
My CTI now is the centre of clip1, I want to move the CTI to:
    a) the end of clip1, then
    b) beginning of clip2, then
    c) end of clip2, then
    d) beginning of clip 3, then
    e) end of clip3, then
    f) beginning of clip4, then
    g) end of clip4
    ... etc ...
Is there a shortcut tab for each movement to (a) to (b) to (c) ... etc ?
    Thanks

Also, note that you have to use the track targeting selectors to indicate which tracks should be used in the clip head/tail navigation. If you have multiple tracks targeted, Page Up/Down will navigate to each subsequent edit point across all targeted tracks. If you only want to navigate on one track, select just that one.
A quick way to select or deselct all track targeting selectors is to hold down the Shift key as you click on one of the them; one click will select them all, and a second click will deselect them all. That makes it a little easier than toggling on and off multiple individual selectors.

  • Selecting multiple clips in Imovie for Iphone for plus Ipad 2?

hi guys first post on these forums i hope you can help.
I recently downloaded imovie from the app store for my iphone 4 and so far have been really impressed with it. However there is one problem i'm having. I would like to select multiple clips from my camera roll without having to keep going back into the media section and having to scroll down to find the clips for everyone i want to add. Is there a way of selecting multiple clips? any help appreciated!

There is a way to load multiple video clips at once on iMovie's timeline on the iPad.
I have been able to load multiple video clips into my iPad's iMovie's timeline at the same time, but this process requires the combined use of iMovie and iPhoto and won't work if you have iOS 8 running on your iPad.
This is the way I do it.  You create an iMovie project (Movie) on your iPad.  iMovie will show the video clips that you can load to the timeline, but, as you have probably already found out, you can't load more than one clip at a time in iMovie's timeline.  My videos have sometimes 100-200 clips, so loading them into the timeline one-by-one is a very long and tedious process. I do this instead:
    (1)  I go to iMovie and load the first clip on the timeline using iMovie. (This needs to be done to avoid iPhoto importing its background music to your video clips in iMovie.)
    (2) Then I get out of iMovie and go into iPhoto.  iPhoto shows you all the photos, but more importantly also all the videos in your Camera Roll.
    (3) In iPhoto, I select the next video in the Camera Roll (the one right after the clip that I already placed on iMovie's timeline).
    (4) Next, I hit the icon at the top of iPhoto that takes you to the "Share" section (the icon is a square box with an arrow pointing to the top).  This will open a dialogue box that has a section there for "Apps" and you will see the iMovie icon.
    (5) Select the iMovie icon, it will open a dialoge box that reads at the bottom: "Choose Photos...".
    (6) Select "Choose Photos..."
    (7) Now you can select up to 15 video clips in iPhoto to load into iMovie's timeline.  You select each video by tapping it, it becomes encased in a white square and will show a check mark.
    (8) After selecting up to 15 video clips, hit "Next" in the top right corner, you will be taken to iMovie.
    (9) In iMovie, you will be asked to select the project into which the clips are to be placed.  Select the project and the clips will all be loaded at once into iMovie's timeline.
Repeat the process again each time to load more clips; the process will place each new group of clips on iMovie's timeline right after the previously loaded clips.  When you return to iPhoto, the clips that appear encased with a heavy white border are the ones that have already been placed in the timeline for iMovie; select the next uncased clip and 14 more and load them into iMovie in the same way as described before.
One word of caution:  This process only works using iMovie and iPhoto together.  iPhoto does not work with iOS 8!  (Thank you, Apple!)  That's why I don't have iOS 8 on my iPad, so, the process works fine.  I hope this helps.

  • Premiere Pro CC: shortcut to select multiple clips at playhead?

When cutting interviews in the timeline I often split multiple tracks (Shift+Command+K) at two points, select all clips in between by mouse and then do a Ripple delete. I'd love to avoid touching the mouse here, so: Is there a keyboard shortcut to select ALL Clips under the playhead or to the left/right of the playhead? I know there are key commands for these kind of selections, but they are only affecting video track 1 and I did not find a way to extend the selection to all tracks (without touching the mouse).

Yes, that's true, when using my method described above, Prem adds each clip from the first frame and cuts it off when it reaches the next Marker, then I use the Slip tool to get them to the bit I like. I'd just like to remove the step of typing the time into the Playhead Position counter by dropping Markers at set intervals or by choosing to use the first xx seconds in the Automate to Sequence dialogue. Either way, the request is in now, but it doesn't look like it'll gain a lot of traction...!
    Cheers for the responses, Jim.

  • How can I select multiple clips in the event browser?

I can't seem to figure out how to do something that should be pretty simple. I want to select multiple clips in the event browser that aren't next to each other. Right now it's only letting me select the two clips with every other clip in between. Is there a keyboard function that will allow me to deselect the clips in between while leaving the two on the outside selected? In Apple's finder you can do this with files by holding down shift-command while clicking on the ones you want. Or is there away to rearrange clips in the event browswer?
I'd like to be able to create a multicam clip, but there is always going to be other media in between the clips I want to combine, so how can I select only the clips I want?
    Thanks!

Holding the Command key should let you select non-contiguous items, just as in the Finder.

  • IMovie Unexpectedly quitting when trying to select a clip

I am suspecting that I may have a corrupted project. Then again, it could just be a major problem with my Mac. At one point during my import, iMovie unexpectedly quit. I was able to reopen the project and continue the import. Once the import was complete, I attempted to click on a clip, and boom! iMovie unexpectedly quit. I reopened, and was asked to move the clips to the clipboard and all went well. I even was able to save the project. Still any time I select any clip, iMovie unexpectedly quits. For reference, here is a portion of the dialog of the crash:

My standard list of things to do first for these weird sort of problems, but I also tend to run these before I go to burn an iDVD project just to be safe. Keep in mind this list represents the programs I tend to use. I am running Panther (10.3.9) so Tiger users might want to check the below list for compatibility. There are several alternate programs that do the same things with some combining the functions of some of the ones below. So everyone has their favorites, but here are mine...
Run MacJanitor (free download) to do all the Unix Cron Maintenance scripts.
Run Disk Utility (Applications -> Utilities) and repair disk permissions on your start up drive (typically your internal drive). Also verify any other drives mounted on the system, especially any external drives that you use for iMovie and iDVD projects.
Run Preferential Treatment (free download) to check for corrupt/damaged application and system preference files.
Run Cache Out X (free download) to clear all system and application caches.
Reboot your Mac (after running Cache Out X you are given the option to restart the machine).
If you still can not get it to run correctly, next thing to try is to throw out the iMovie preference file (don't forget to change back those preferences you want different from the defaults next time you run it). If it still doesn't work, then I would suggest you reinstall iMovie.

  • Rendering a selection of clips

I'm wondering if you can render a selection of clips in the timeline like you can on Final Cut Pro. I can only render what is in the work area in Premiere Pro
    Thanks Andy

Sadly, the list of supported cards for Mac is much, much shorter than for Windows. Your next cheapest option would be the GTX285, but that's a long-extinct card, so you'd have to find one used on eBay or new-old-stock somewhere. I really don't know why the list is so much shorter for Mac, but again, use that feature request form to complain about it. The line of FCP switchers at the door is getting longer, and I think they're all going to want some hardware MPE lovin', too Adobe would do well to increase this list for everybody.
I will say that once you edit with hardware accelerated MPE, you will never look at another NLE setup the same way.

  • Apply Color Correction to next clip

I'm pretty sure I was able to do this about a month ago.  I originally found how to do it in the help index, but I cannot find it now.
I'm looking to apply my color correction to the next clip in the timeline.  Just like in FCP7, you were able to apply it to the two (or one) clips behind or in front of the clip you're using the CC from.
    Thank you.

We don't have the same privelidges in this area that we enjoyed in FCP7.
The best you can do is select the corrected clip and hit Cmd+C to copy it.
Then select the clips you want to apply the same correction to and press Alt+Cmd+V to Paste Effects.
    Note:
If you already have any effects on those clips, they will be overwritten.

  • How do I select multiple clips in a timeline in the reverse direction, e.g. middle to front?

I know how to click "a" and select clips in the timeline looking forward, but how do we select multiple clips from a middle point to the front of the timeline?  I don't want to be lassoing -- is there some other way?

    Hi denniscallan,
Please check the track selection tool. Refer to the link below for more information about the tools section.

  • Is there a way to select multiple clips in FCP 7 and make all of them stereo pair at the same time?

I know,....  I'm still using FCP 7,  but since there are no forums for this aaplication anymore,  I figured I ask it here.
I want to select multiple clips on the timeline and make them all stereo pair.  I pressed "Option L", but that does not work.  Is there a way to do this?

  • Adobe Premiere CC Crashes When Selecting Multiple Clips

This project was already derailed by multicam, now that I've got my assembly edit ready to go, I've discovered a new show-stopper:  Premiere Pro CC crashes when I select multiple clips on the timeline.  I can't select more than 3 clips at a time, or the entire program comes crashing to it's knees.  Anyone else experiencing something like this?  Can anyone else reproduce this behavior?
Here's a video of the experience:
    http://youtu.be/DPOUinOSzDE
    Any word on an update?
    ASUS G75VX
    Windows 7 Pro, 64-bit
    GTX 670MX, 3GB GDDR5
    16GB RAM

Progress.  I've been able to isolate the problem.  On my timeline I have some "regular" clips and some "merged" clips.  Regular clips are from either source: a Canon 7D (MP4 / MOV) or a Canon VIXIA HF G20 (AVCHD).  The Merged clips are only from the Canon 7D only (for video) and an audio recorder (MP3 at 320kbps).  The 7D footage is 1080/24p.  The VIXIA also shoots in 24p.
Since "Merge Clips" sync on audio is not working for me, I've employed my former CS6 workflow:
    1. Sync all of the video and audio clips through PluralEyes 3 resulting in a preliminary sequence, "Clips_to_be_merged_sequence".
    2. I work my way through each of the clips, adjusting the audio track(s) for variances in drift between the on camera sound and the audio recorder.  I do this enabling "Audio Time Units", rather than video frames, so I can get extremely acurate.
    3. When I have a timeline full of nicely syncronized audio/video pairs, I merge clips, one painstaking clip at a time (of course I set up a keyboard shortcut for this).  For the merge, I "sync on In points".
    4. The merged clip is added to my project panel.
    5. Now, when it comes time to choose my sound bite selects, I load the merged clip into the Source panel and mark my Ins and Outs.
    6. Time to create a subclip, of course with the new SOFT handles. (I'VE BEEN WANTING SOFT HANDLES FOR A LONG TIME!!!)
    7. The subclip appears to be properly created and placed into the Project panel.  It even shows the correct duration (i.e. 14 seconds)
    8.  When I drag that subclip onto the timeline it drags the entire length of the parent clip, without in or out points (not just the 14 second subclip).
    9.  I undo and decide to go back through the original clips again; mark ins and outs and simply drop to the timeline (either Insert or Overwrite).
So in the end, I'm using sections of the Merged clip, but I'm not using Subclips of the Merged clips (because that doesn't work).
Now, what's happening, though I didn't know it when I recorded the video above, is that Premiere is crashing any time I select both "regular" footage and "merged" footage.
    So, two bugs here:
    1. Can't use Subclips that are derived from Merged clips in ANY timeline.  Once dragged to the timeline it expands to the full duration of the original clip.
    2. Can't select both "regular" and "merged" clips at the same time on the timeline.
JStrawn (staff) was kind enough to offer to take a look at some small sample files.  But my interview clips are very long, and I'm concerned that if I export them, to make them shorter, they may not actually exibit the problems I'm having on the original clips.
Anyone else using this type of "Merge Clip" workflow that could reproduce either the subclip-from-merged-clip bug or the mixed-selection crash given the steps above?

  • How to select multiple clips???

I am a very avid iMovie user and now this new version has me so confused. I have the basics down, but I can't figure out how to select all clips and dump them into the "timeline" area. I can select them one at a time and place them in the assembly area but that takes forever on a one hour soccer game. Anyone figure out how to select multiple clips or all clips at once?
    Thanks ahead of time.

Weird seeing this question today after I dealt with this yesterday. I did a movie yesterday that was multiple clips. I was able to select all clips at once and drag the entire thing up to the top window. I just tried to do the same thing again after reading this question and for the life of me, it will no longer allow me to click and drag to select them all. I wonder if this has something to do with the fact that all 10 or so clips I was able to highlight before, were all parts of the same clip when filmed (they were split into individual segments when imported). When I try to combine two clips that are not filmed sequentially, it will no longer allow it. The help menu says nothing about this. All it says is you need to click on the first clip and hold the mouse down and drag it to the end and it will select all. That is not working.

I tried using the Guest Account on my Mac. In the Guest Account, Illustrator works perfect!
Then I started wondering what processes (tools/tweaks) I run by default on my account. Turned out the problem was called by a little background tool called RightZoom. RightZoom let's the green 'zoom' button always maximize your current window.
