Select Next Edit Point

Anyone notice a keyboard shortcut which will select the next edit point?
For example, with a series of still images, I would like to quickly move to the next edit point, insert the cross dissolve transition, move to the next edit point etc.
Currently I only seem to be able to manually move the cursor and and select the edit point.  Am looking for a keyboard shortcut to move quickly.
Thanks.

A Bit More.
I know that the up and down arrows move to the next edit point, but it is not "selected" to insert a transition there you have to click on the edit point first.
I am looking for a keyboard shortcut which will move to AND select the next edit point.

  • Trim shortcut doesn't always select edit points

Hello my trim mode shortcut isn't always working. When I press T, the majority of the time nothing happens. I've checked in my keyboard shortcuts and T is indeed the key for trim mode.
I've found that if I maually select edit points then press T it will go into trim mode, but only for that edit point. If I press up/down trim mode will go away until I select a edit point again.
If I press T and don't have any edit points selected the program doesn't respond at all.
Previously trim mode was working normally, but I've started a new project and I'm not sure why it stopped.
I have Adobe Premier CC and I'm pretty sure it's the latest version since I'm only 10 days into my trial.

    Ok I checked my version, it's 7.2.1 (4)
In this video at 1:43, he presses T without having any edit points selected and it selects an edit point.

    That's what's wasn't working for me.
Today it seems to be working for me again, however I still don't know what I did to make it stop working yesterday. If there is something I did wrong I like to know so I know how to fix it if I have this problem again.
Either way thank you for the help.

  • "Next Edit" on one track only?

Is there a way to have the keyboard commands for Go To Previous or Next Edit (either ; and ', or Up Arrow and Down Arrow) apply only to one track?
I sometimes want to use those commands to quickly flip through all the shots in a particular sequence, but when there are many audio tracks below, the playhead will only be moved to wherever the next edit on any of those tracks happens to be. I'd like to have the option of the playhead moving to the next edit on my main video track (V1 say), while ignoring the multiple audio edits underneath.
Have tried selecting just the track whose edit points I want to use, but that doesn't seem to make a difference. And since I already have numerous audio clip disabled here and there -- for reference and possible future use -- selecting then temporarily disabling ALL the audio tracks would not be feasible.
(I suppose making all the audio tracks temporarily invisible would be one workaround, but aside from that being a nuisance, I also sometimes want to play part of a clip as I'm skipping along the Timeline from shot to shot, and usually I like to hear the sound with it.)
So -- any clever way to just have the "Go To Previous/Next Edit" command apply to one track only?

    Well whaddaya know!
John "original poster" Bertram here. Just tested both methods:
    The Auto-Select buttons appear to have no effect re this issue (tried various combinations, including the obvious one of my target track being the only track, video or audio, with the Auto-Select toggled on);
But Chi-Ho Lee's method worked perfectly! Exactly as described. Once an edit point has been selected, the Previous/Next Edit commands apply only to that one track (hooray!). They do so by actually changing the selection to the Previous or Next edit point. Bonus is that even if I then play part of the clip where the selection point happens to be, the selection itself remains even though the Playhead has moved on -- and the Previous/Next Edit commands continue to work on just that one track (i.e. whether or not the Playhead happens to be in the same position as the selected edit point).
Thank you CHL! (I wonder if that technique is actually documented?) In any case, it's exactly what I was looking for.

  • My clips are pausing at edit points. Any idea why?

Hi, I'm editing some quicktime (.mov) footage that I have ripped from a domestic DVD camcorder in FCP 7. It plays fine and there are no issues with the quality. However, when I cut the footage and move it alongside another clip, it pauses at the edit point and then continues. It will then pause at the next edit point and so on. Why is it doing this? Are my settings out? I've checked them out and they seem ok. When I move a clip away from being adjacent to another clip it plays fine. It just doesn't like having neighbours. Is this a common problem and is there a simple fix for it? Please advise.
p.s. My apologies if this isn't written in the correct format. This is my first post.

Thanks for your reply - as you can tell it's taken me a while to return to this project.
I ripped the footage as a QT mov using H.264 codec at a bit rate of 2,500. The resolution is 720 x 480.
My FCP set up is - DV Pal 48khz. This is my usual setting and normally welcomes QT movies.
Do you think I need to change my settings? Or do I need to convert the source footage?
    Your advise would be appreciated.

  • How ripple edit an edit point incrementally, frame by frame in CC?

I know I can do this in CS6, since I do it daily at my job, but on my home computer running CC, I can't seem to figure out how to trim or ripple edit in one frame increments? I remap a lot of my keys, so I don't remember what they are originally, and I can't seem to figure out the name of this command.

Select the edit point with the Ripple Trim tool, the Tolling Edit tool, or the Selection tool, then press the keyboard shortcut for Trim Forward or Trim Back:

    WINDOWS
    MAC
      Trim Backward
    Ctrl+Left
    Opt+Left
      Trim Backward Many
    Ctrl+Shift+Left
    Opt+Shift+Left
      Trim Forward

  • Disable Edit Point Selection

An old thread turned back up recently and reminded me of this.  I know a lot of keyboard editors requested edit point selection and Adobe has catered to that request.  Unfortunately, a lot of us combo editors (keyboard/mouse) are now stuck with a feature that actually slows down the edit process.  I'd love to return to the way 5.5 worked in this regard - no edit point selection, and only Slide or Ripple edits available with the normal Selection tool (V), with Rolling edits requiring the switch to the Rolling Edit tool (N).  So, here is a Feature Request that can be copied/pasted into the Adobe form.
Please add a new option under Edit>Preferences>General... labeled "Allow Edit Point Selection".  With this option checked, Premiere Pro would function as it does in CS6 and the user would be able to select edit points in the sequence.  With it unchecked, Premiere Pro would function as it did in 5.5 and no such selection would be possible.
Regardless of how that box is checked, please remove the ability to perform Rolling Edits when the standard Selection Tool is being used (V) as it actually interferes when trying to access the normal Slide or Ripple edit functionality.  For Rolling Edits, we have a Rolling Edit tool.  We do not need that functionality doubled up.
    https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform

I canreally  understand why "drag and drop and mouse trim" (plus razor tool) editors might dislike Edit Point Selection functionality.
So...I dont mind if you guys do get your wish as regards making this an OPTION....but I do not want it to dissapear or get broken!
I am fine with Edit Points and have adapted to it by a simple change of how I "edit the cuts and trims".  I really like my new "edit style" but admit I also get caught by it occassionally.
In that regard....I wont support your Feature Request because I am fearful that something else will get broken in the process of fulfilling your wish.... or something else will change that I have to adapt to again.
    Good luck anyway.

  • What's the quickest way to put edit points around a selection?

In the timeline (TL) I have made a selection inside a clip (using the Range Selection tool):
What is the quickest way to make this selection a separate clip (as below)?:
PS Saying 'put edit points around' and 'make separate clip', I guess are always the same thing, so I have mixed my terms!?
PS I have currently been using: CMD + X, CMD + V, but this is a hack, not a method, so there has to be a way, right?

Thanks to you all for quick replies, especially Andy for quickly understanding me.
Yup, I used the Range Selection tool. It's a great tool, when for e.g. you want to lift ambient room tone from a portion of an audio clip to paste elsewhere.
Anyway, I am just experimenting thoroughly with all the tools and workflows, to find quickest ways of doing things. To answer your question(s): an example in which you would want to do what I mention above is if you wanted to quickly apply particular Effects/Parameters/Settings to a portion of a clip, like a sepia tint, and wanted to be able to easily click back to that portion later,  see e.g. below:
    Thanks again

  • Cannot speed clips up without it ruining edit points

Hi I am having real nightmares with Premiere. It just never seems to do even the most basic tasks properly.
I am simply trying to create a benny hill style spoof. I have cut the sequence at NORMAL speed. Then I selected all video clips in the sequence and chose Clip Speed Duration and put in 250%. I have tried both with Ripple Edit on and off. It doesn't make a blind bit of difference. Each time it speeds up the clips but the edit points maintain the exact same positions in time. In other words the whole sequence is screwed up because at 250% speed, each clip effectively runs longer and the edits are useless. What could it possibly think I mean when I speed up the clips and then tell it to ripple edits? I have absolutely no idea what is going on here? Is this yet another bug with this software. I have recently moved from Final Cut and never had any such problems in that tool. Does anyone know what is going on? I tried nesting the clips into one but then the option to set speed is not available so that's useless.
Thanks for any help or an explanation of why this is happening. This is CC2014 by the way

Ok I just worked it out. I have to click the link thing next to speed. I can't say I'm impressed with this usability though. If I have created edit points why would I want to trash them by speeding up a clip? Surely it makes complete sense to scale the edit as well. So if I'm speeding up all clips, logic would suggest that the sequence will be shorter surely. The way this works by default is completely non sensical in my opinion. Of course it may be that I accidentally activated this option and the default is to scale clips on changing duration. Any suggestions here?

  • Go To Next Edit (down) stopped working

    Premiere Pro CC, Windows 7
I did a multicam edit of four cameras, 2hrs 16 mins, then I selected all and used the "nest" option to create a nest of the mulitcam. Here I added opening clips and audio then butted up the nest video.
I was using Go To Next Edit to insert my default transition and all was well until I found a point I want to insert a shot slightly out of sync. I copied the short clip from another timeline then cut the nested video and inserted the clip. Now Go To Next Edit will not work. Go To Last Edit takes me to the beginning of the whole sequence.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks
    Dennis

    Check you track targeting.

  • Can I mark multiple edit points during live video capture

I'm scheduled to provide edited video clips immediately following a live event coverage. I know I can capture live signal via uncontrollable source, but  how can I mark edit points on the fly for quick turnaround edits once the event is complete?
I'm using a new 2011 MBP 17" i7, 8GB RAM, SSD and FCP Studio 3, connected to firewire feed from another device being fed by the camera operator.
    Thanks all

Thank you Andy, Nate and Patrick.
I took Cut Notes with me on my wife's iPad to the shoot this morning and was thrilled with the speed and ease of use that got my project completed, selected clips edited and posted and the customer happy before leaving the venue.
You can see some of the clips here: http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=rnc+chair&aq=f
Portions of the audio will be used on NPR this evening.
Any thoughts whether this capability might make it into FCP X so I won't need to carry the iPad to my next shoot?

  • Mask edit points won't show up

I've created a mask so that I can rotoscope someone speaking. I need to go back and make some changes, but I can't seem to be able to get the edit points of the mask to reappear.
    Here's what I've tried:
With the Mask track selected in the layers window.
I've selected in the canvas where the mask is a chose the "Edit Points" in the pull down menu. A check mark shows up next to "Edit Points." And "Adjust Control Points" is selected in the tool window.
What am I missing? Is there a show edit points view or something?
    Thanks!

you might have turned off your overlays. lines and handles need to be ticked.... sometimes the pen tool that i use to make my lines and handles disappears and is replaced by a different tool... but still does the job of the pen.. LOL

  • How can I select next page when on shopping website

When I'm on a shopping website, like BLoomingdales for example, I can't select next page or page 2.  It only stays on the 1st page.  Why is this?

    Hi,
if you have 3 pages in a smartform do this
    DATA:L_NAME(17)   TYPE C VALUE '%HEADER-FIRSTPAGE'.
    FIELD-SYMBOLS: <FIELD>.
    if plant = '1000'. A page -> B page
      ASSIGN (L_NAME) TO <FIELD>.
      IF SY-SUBRC EQ 0.
        <FIELD> = 'PAGEA'.
      ENDIF.
    ENDIF.
    else               A page -> C page
      ASSIGN (L_NAME) TO <FIELD>.
      IF SY-SUBRC EQ 0.
        <FIELD> = 'PAGEC'.
      ENDIF.
    ENDIF.

  • CC 2014 - Go to Previous Edit Point gone?

It seems this button has been replaced with an identical-looking "Match Frame" button, which either opens the selected clip in the source window on the current frame, or does nothing if no clip is selected in the timeline. Is there a way I can get Go to Previous Edit point back? I used it really extensively so this change is a pretty big deal to me.

Have you looked in your Button Editor?
Here's an article that goes into details about the ability to customize the buttons in Premiere Pro.

  • PS CC - how do I select individual anchor points of a shape?

In PS CS 6 it used to be possible to draw a shape, like a rectangle, and then use the direct selection tool to select and move one corne of the rectangle. However, in PS CC this does not work anymore. When I try to use the direct selection tool, all anchor points remain selected and so I can't move a single point, just all of them at once. What might I be doing wrong? Did something change in the CC version?
    Thanks!

I seem to be able to use the Direct Selection tool to edit points, e.g., on a rectangular shape, to select one only and move it around.
When I select the shape layer then choose the Direct Selection tool (white arrow), the path shows.
When I click on the path all the points show, with "hollow" handles.
When I click on only one point it turns black, then I can move it with another click and drag.  In fact, just one click, hold until the point turns black, then drag seems to work.
Of course, you've got to be VERY accurate where you click.
And Trevor, I seem to be able to drag a box around several points, then move them.  What am I doing right, accidentally or on purpose?  Is there some kind of bug being invoked in certain documents maybe that I'm not seeing in my testing here?

    Hi,
    This query should be fine:
    SELECT DISTINCT t2.gs_i_id, pms_comp, t2.gs_i_code,
                    TO_CHAR
                       (MIN (pms_perf_d) OVER (PARTITION BY pms_comp, pms_i),

                        'yyyymmdd'

                    pms_wt / 100 gs_i_calc
               FROM dev_wt t1, dev_map t2
WHERE t2.gs_code = t1.pms_iREM Same remark as odie: should be "2231" instead ...
