Select Printer Tray.

How do I print my report on a specific tray on a specific printer? I need to print a report which is 11x17 printed on one printer in which pre printed stationery is loaded in on Tray #4. Using Oracle reports 6i.

Use SRW.SET_PRINTER_TRAY('tray');

• How do I select what tray/paper I want to print to?

Okay, I can't figure out how I'm supposed to tell iPhoto or whatever I'm printing from where to print from. Sometimes I've got legal in the back tray, sometimes it's photo paper. Same for the main tray. Depends on what's going on in my office.
How am I supposed to tell it where to go? I see presets but I can't duplicate the PAPER ON GLOSSY presets so I have to recreate them? I had to pull the main tray to make sure it wouldn't try and print from there since I'm printing pictures tonight.
I guess this is meant to keep people from screwing up printing but it's screwing up those of us who know what we're doing.

had the same problem on my new hp 7520: No option to select the photo tray in Photoshop Elements 10 on my MacBook Pro (OS 10.6.1).
The solution was to use a preset generated in the seperate program standard on the Mac, Preview. The preset causes an additional window to pop up when you press print, and allows you to select the preset. You don't see this window unless a preset has been generated.
To set a preset in Preview follow these steps (other programs could probably be used to set the preset as well):
1. Select a photo and select print.
2. In the print screen select the paper size (eg. 4x6), then in the option that says preview use the drop down menu to select "printer features" which then brings up the options that we are looking for. Set the paper type (eg. Hp premium papers) and source (photo tray). Now go back to top and in the preset window select "save as" and give it a name (eg. 4x6 photo tray). This has created a preset with specified paper quality, size and source which can be used in Photoshop.
Once the preset is established you can easily print to the photo tray from Photoshop:
1. Select a photo and select print.
2. Select the printer, paper size and print size (should match preset) and select print.
3. Because of the preset, an additional window pops up allowing you to select the printer and the preset, then select print again to send it to the printer.
Of course you can have a number of presets, for different sizes or types of papers, different source trays or even different printers.

• Regarding Printer Tray Selection while running BI Publisher Report.

Hi All,
Below is my requirement.
When ever user tries to run the report, based on the customer code the printer tray has to be passed to printer so that the report gets printed by selecting the paper from the same tray. Each printer tray will have different paper color.
Let me know how can I achieve this? Its very urgent..
Thanks

hi,
Just now i identified that its not deleting the report but its reverting back the report to its previous version. Let me explain it you in details:
suppose i created a report with following query source as Oracle Database:
select territory_code from fnd_territories_tl
where LANGUAGE = USERENV ('Lang')
now if i modify the query in the same report to following query:
<dataTemplate name="dunningLetter" description="Dunning Letter Report" dataSourceRef="IPOVIS" defaultPackage="xx_shpckt_init" Version="1.0">
<parameters>
<parameter name="p_order_number" dataType="character"/>
</parameters>
<dataQuery>
<sqlStatement name="Q1">
select order_number from oe_order_headers where order_number = :p_order_number

</sqlStatement>
</dataQuery>
<dataTrigger name="beforeReport" source="xx_shpckt_init.beforeReportTrigger"/>
</dataTemplate>
and then if i run the report again, the report will still show the result of previous query!! and then if i go back to data model then it will show the previous query there!! not sure why is it doing this way?? Also sometimes, when i create a new report and then view the result then it will revert its previous stage i.e report without Data model, LOVs and parameters!! That is the reason i thought its deleting the report while running report.
Please suggest why is it acting this way? Appreciate your help and time.
Thanks,

• Select a tray on printer OCE Vario 1200

Hi all,
How can I select a tray on an OCE Vario 2100 when printing from a smartform?
I tried to print the sample-text SAPSCRIPT-TRAYTEXT. This should take sheets from several tray's but it only used the default tray.
I tried putting printcommands TRY1, TRY2 and TRY3 in the smartform command-box. These printcommands are active in the printerdefinition. But the printer seems not to listen to these commands.
Does anybody have any ideas or experiences?

Hi,
There is a field in the attributes of your page called 'resource name', here you can specify the printer tray.

• I select Printer Preferences Prompt Main Tray or Photo tray But never given the choice.

I have an all in one photosmart c309a. At times I want to select main tray rather than Photo tray when printing. Using the option for "prompt tray" does not respond. Printer insists on using photo tray if paper is not Letter size.

Hi shiflerg,
I’m sorry to hear you are having problems printing from your Samsung tablet to your Photosmart C309g printer.
I have included several documents about printing from your Android tablet. The HP Printer Control app replaced the HP All-in-one Printer app. By your post I'm not sure if you still have the HP ePrint app still installed as the printing goes through the ePrint app to print. If it's has been uninstalled that would explain why you are unable to access the settings.

• Select the printer tray using the Java Print Service with JDK 1.4.2

Hello,
I have got a problem with 1.4 Printing. I would like to specify the printer tray for printing on Windows platform (XP and NT4.0). I am trying to use the attribute javax.print.attribute.standard.MediaTray class (ex. MediaTray.BOTTOM).
Howerver, I can control the printer tray if I use the PCL driver of the printer. If I user the postscript driver I am not able to control the printer tray. I can reproduce the problem with 3 different printers (HP, Lexmark and Nashuatec).
I used the getSupportedAttributeValues to check the supported values of the Media
Media med[] = (Media[])service.getSupportedAttributeValues(Media.class, null, null);
for (int k=0; k<med.length; k++) {
System.out.println("Name : " + med[k].getClass() + " - Value : " + med[k].getValue());

Hi Retrotriker,
Follow the steps below to properly configure your paper trays.
1. Touch (right arrow), touch Setup, touch Preferences, and then select Default Tray
2. Select Tray 2 as the Default tray
3. Open Printers and Faxes
4. Right click on printer, and then select Printer Properties
5. Click on Device Settings tab
6. On this screen set the media type you have assigned to each tray (Example: tray 1 - Envelopes & Tray 2 - Letter)
7. Click Apply, and then Ok
8. When you have an envelope you are printing it will pull from Tray 1
9. When you have a letter you are printing it will pull from Tray 2

• Printer tray selection VS2010

We have the following questions regarding windows printer default tray determining tray to print from:

1. When we set m_reportClass.PrintOptions.PaperSource = CrystalDecisions.Shared.PaperSource.FormSource, it defaults back to Auto (we can see that when we debug, it simply ignores the command) - why is that, and which option should we use to get the printer to use PrinterDefaultTray?

2. Default Printer impacts rpt. file even though "No Printer" is checked in the Page Setup dialog - so the default printer set on the developer PC opening the Page Setup of a .rpt file (not making a change, just opening) will change the file. Why is that and what change is made?

3. We have made a default 'dummy' printer on the developer pc which is used when opening the .rpt file. If a similar printer with the same name does not exist on the PC printing the report, we cannot control the tray that is prints from.

Is there a viewer that can show what has been changed inside an .rpt file to better understand what is happening to the file when it is opened in VS2010?

We are experiencing an issue with Crystal Reports VS2010 when trying to print reports to a specific tray. We have recently upgraded from .net 1.1 to .net 4.0 and in relation to this we also upgraded the CR version.

In the previous version we were able to setup windows printers with a specific default tray and when printing to this windows printer, the default tray of this windows printer was used. We have a range of printers being used in a client windows forms application, so we need to be able to continue letting the windows printer definition determine which tray to use. Preferable we would like to set PaperSource to UsePrinterDefaultTray, but that option does not seem to exist (or we have not found it yet). We have found another solution, but would like to understand why it works so we know that it is a viable solution.

The application is based on creating a report using the CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportClass. The example below has been shortened for readability:

CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportClass m_reportClass = new new EKRB007A();
// create/get data for report
// u2026
m_reportClass.PrintOptions.PaperSize = CrystalDecisions.Shared.PaperSize.PaperA4;
m_reportClass.FormatEngine.PrintOptions.PaperSize = CrystalDecisions.Shared.PaperSize.PaperA4;

m_reportClass.SetDataSource(this.dataSet);

CrystalDecisions.Shared.PageMargins pm = new CrystalDecisions.Shared.PageMargins(
this.getA4InvoicePrinterOriginalHorizontalAlignment(),
this.getA4InvoicePrinterOriginalVerticalAlignment(),
m_reportClass.PrintOptions.PageMargins.rightMargin,
this.getA4InvoicePrinterOriginalVerticalAlignment()     );

m_reportClass.PrintOptions.ApplyPageMargins( pm );

// The name of the windows printer to use is read from parameters.
m_reportClass.PrintOptions.PrinterName = this.getA4InvoicePrinterCopy(); // here it will return 'InvoicePrinter'

m_reportClass.PrintToPrinter(
1,
true,
1,
m_reportClass.FormatEngine.GetLastPageNumber( new CrystalDecisions.Shared.ReportPageRequestContext()));

The printer has the 'No Printer' set in the Page Setup dialog as we have different printers with different number of trays, so we need to be able to specify the printer at runtime (according to the VS2010 CR documentation, there should be two dialogs - Print Setup and Page Setup, but in VS2010, we can only find the Page Setup, and it includes some of the options from the old Print Setup dialog).

Developer A, has two printers: printer 'Generic Text' set to default and printer 'InvoicePrinter' (the one to print from as read from the paramter in the above code). The 'Generic Text' is a generic text printer with no trays and the 'InvoicePrinter' is an OKI printer with two trays.

Developer B, has printer 'InvoicePrinter' set as default.

Developer C, has two printers: printer 'SalesList' set to default and printer 'InvoicePrinter'

Developer A sets up printer 'InvoicePrinter' to print in tray 1 (and 'Generic Text' is default printer). Then opens the .rpt file and compiles. If a print is made on the developer PC, it prints to the correct tray. We can change 'InvoicePrinter' to tray 2 and again it prints correctly. However, if the same .dll is deployed on Developer B's PC, and a print is made, it always uses the same tray even though the windows printer is changed (it actually uses the 'InvoicePrinter', but it ignores the tray it is configured to use). The same is the case for Developer C's PC.

We have tried to set m_reportClass.PrintOptions.PaperSource = CrystalDecisions.Shared.PaperSource.FormSource and m_reportClass.PrintOptions.PaperSource = CrystalDecisions.Shared.PaperSource.Auto, but it has no impact.

If Developer B adds a printer called 'Generic Text' (even though it is not to be used) AND sets this printer to be the default printer, then it works exactly as on Developer A's PC - meaning that the windows printer tray definition of 'InvoicePrinter' is used correctly.

Our solution rigth now is to install a 'dummy' printer on all developer PCs and on all client PCs. This printer must be set as default printer on developer PCs so when the Page Setup of any .rpt file is opened (yes, just opening it changes the file), the new file generated will be based on the 'Generic Text' printer. We will then change the default printer on client PCs just before printing to the 'Generic Text' printer and set it back to their 'normal' default afterwards.

In my dev team we all agree that this is not the optimal solutions, so any suggestions will be well received.

Use the InProc RAS SDK, not CR SDK. More functional, same licensing.

• Easy selection printing to tray 1 or 2

We have an Officejet Pro 8620 with extra paper tray. Tray 1 for blank paper, tray 2 for paper with business logo.
Now, when we want to print to tray 2, we reject tray 1 a little, so that after a few attempts the software switches to tray 2, and the printing starts.
It is possible, before printing, to change the setting in the software, so that printing to tray 2 is selected. But that is quite cumbersome.
We would an easy way to select to print to tray 1 or tray 2. For instance, as seen in other environments, so that we can choose to print to:
- HP Officejet Pro 8620 (tray 1) or
- HP Officejet Pro 8620 (tray 2)
These could be visible as seperate printers. How can we do this?
Changing the setting everytime is not a good option. Plus, we have other software packages that we want to configure so that they automatically print to the correct tray.
Thanks!
This question was solved.

Hello @Sing020,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I would like to assist you today with adding two copies of your HP Officejet Pro 8620 e-All-in-One Printer to your Windows 7 computer to make printing to Tray 1 and Tray 2 an easier process for you. Can I please have you follow the steps below.
1. Click on your Start menu
2. Select Devices and Printers
3. In the Devices and Printers folder you should see your installed HP Officejet 8620 printer
Before proceeding, we need to determine how your printer is connected. If you have a wireless HP Officejet 8620 printer, on the front panel of your printer touch the Setup button. Touch Network Setup. Select Wireless Settings. Touch View Wireless Details. Take note of the IP Address.
If you have USB Cable connected printer please right click on the HP Officejet 8620 under the Devices and Printers folder and left click on Printer Properties. Click on the Ports tab. Look under the list of Ports for the port that is selected for your printer. There should be a check next to one of the USB ports. If you hover your mouse over the Port is should show you the full name (USB 0001, USB 0002, USB 0003, etc). Take note of the USB Port number.
4. Next, right click on the HP Officejet 8620 that currently shows installed on your computer. Left click on Printing Preferences.
5. Under the Paper/Quality tab please select the Paper Tray (Tray 1) and Paper Size.
6. Click Apply and OK
7. Right click on the HP Officejet 8620 one final time and left click on Printing Preferences. Under the General tab you should be able to add (Tray 1) to the end of your printer name.
8. Click Apply and OK to save the changes.
9. Now we need to add in the second Copy of your printer. Please close Devices and Printers for a moment.
10. Click on your Start menu
11. In the 'search programs and files' box located right above Start type %temp% and hit enter on your keyboard
12. When the Temp folder opens, select Ctrl + A at the same time on your keyboard. Everything in this folder will now highlight.
13. Select the 'delete' button on your keyboard. The Temp folder contains temporary internet files. No actual files or folders on your computer will be affected by deleting the Temp files. Should a Temp file still be used than you will automatically get the pop up to 'skip' that item.
14. Close the Temp folder once it is emptied
15. Right click the Recycling Bin on your desktop and select Empty Recycling Bin
16. Click here to download the Officejet 8620 driver
17. Once the download is complete an extraction will occur and then an install window may open. If an install window opens, please close it.
18. Click on your Start menu
19. In the 'search programs and files' box type %temp% and hit enter
20. When the Temp folder opens locate the 7z folder. Click on the 7z folder once to open it
21. At the top of the page you will see the file path. It should show something like: Local Disk C - Users - AppData - Local - Temp- 7z... Left click on the right hand side of this file path bar. Everything will now highlight in the file path. Right click on the highlighted file path and Copy it.
22. Close the Temp folder
23. Click on your Start menu
24. Click Devices and Printers
25. Click Add a Printer at the top
26. Click Add a Local Printer and hit Next
27. Click Use an Existing Port. Click the dropdown and choose the exact same port that your current HP Officejet 8620 is installed on. Hit next.
28. If you're brought to a list of Manufacturers and Printers, click Have Disk on the bottom right. Right click on the file path bar in the 'Install from Disk' window and 'paste' in the file path we previously copied
29. Hit next to complete the adding process
30. Once you're brought back to the normal Devices and Printers window you should see two copies of your HP Officejet installed. If you only see one copy, your computer may have grouped them under the same icon. Right click on the HP Officejet you see and there should now be arrows next to all the options (Printing Preferences, Printing Properties, etc). If you click on the arrows you'll see two copies of your printer.
31. Right click on the HP Officejet 8620 that we're going to configure for Tray 2
32. Left click on Printing Preferences
33. Click on the Paper/Quality tab
34. Choose Paper Tray as Tray 2, and set the Paper Size
35. Click Apply and OK
36. You can right click on your HP Officejet one more time and select Printer Properties.
37. Rename this copy to HP Officejet 8620 (Tray 2)
38. Click Apply and OK
Now when you try to print, when you select File and Print you will see a Tray 1 and a Tray 2 copy of your HP Officejet. Just choose the copy that matches the Tray you want to print from.
Please let me know if the steps I've provided resolve your issue. It may seem like there is a lot of steps, but it really is an easy process. I just wanted to give you as much detail as possible for any scenarios that may arise. Good luck!

• Print crystal report to a specific printer tray

Greetings -
I need to print out a report to a specific printer tray, can you please let me know how I set it up?
Thanks,
Lava

Hi Lava,
According to what I can understand you would like to print the Crystal Report to a specific printer.
In order to print the crystal report to a particular tray of a printer you need to set the printer from the Crystal Reports application.
This can be done from u201CFileu201Dmenu->Print. Select the printer if it is already added else you can add anew printer.
I hope this helps you.
Regards,
Prashant.

I have a Brother HD-5370 laser printer and need some assistance with the paper auto select. If any one has any suggestions or an actual fix, I am all eras.
I have used Snow Leopard, Leopard as well as 10.4 and the problem is with any pdf viewer I have tried (viewer, adobe reader, other 3rd party which names escape me). The option to auto select printing by pdf page size is selected and the drawers are set correctly. It just won't print how it's supposed to.
any sugegstions,
Dan

This has been an issue for at least 3 years now. I have checked for driver sin the past and have tried to look up answers via Brothers website - all to no solution to my problem. It just may be that Brother's printers do not have this feature. The options do show as valid options though.
The printer is currently connected to a Windows pc located on a different floor. So in order to test, I have to move the printer or the mac.

• Dynamically switch printer tray from concurrent program in Oracle Apps 11i

Hi All,
We have a requirement to dynamically switch printer tray from concurrent program .
In the application we had a printer "*Printer1*" defined ,the printer (physical) printer have two trays and it always pick paper from Lower tray
To test the functionality I created one more defination " *Printer2*" in the application .
For this second printer created one more PPd files Printer2PPD2 . In this Printer2PPD2 the value of DefaultInputSlot i gave as Upper,so that printer will pick paper from upper tray
As we are having the PASTA configuration hence in the "uiprint.txt" entered the definations for Printer2 and also mentioned the PPD file.
So in the concurrent program i selected Printer2 and executed the program.But instead of picking from upper tray it picked from lower tray.
I could know this because in upper tray I had counted the number of papers so if the paper would have been picked ,the count would have reduced by 1.
Please let me know the solution for this issue.
Thanks and Regards

Hello,
Is it a frontend printing? Which device type is used?
In recent SAPGUI patches, it is possible to map the tray ids via the
Frontend Options Editor/ tab 'Printer Tray Selection'.
(see KBA 1704243 about how to access the Frontend Options Editor)
Please test the following:
Select the printer model and in "Paper Trays", select "Tray 1",
in the field "SAP ID" enter the value: 1
and,
select "Tray 2", in the field "SAP ID" enter the value: 2
Do the same for Tray 3, 4...
After this, please restart SAPGUI and test the printing.

• Set printer tray and page size

hi every body
i create two reports and i want to print these reports from different printer trays for excemple first report from (upper papaer tray) and second from (lower paper tray)i want all of this automaticaly user can not select tray at runtime print automaticaly goes to set tray by default
second problum is i create report on legal size when i run report in runtime the page setup shows letter size
how can i solve these problums
thanks in advance
allah hafiz

Hi Faiz,
There are 2 places where you need to worry about paper size in your report:
1. When you design the report, you need to make sure that your report is designed according to the paper size that you would finally print on. For this, you first set Reports properties "width" and "height", and then design your report such that everything fits in this size. This has nothing to do with what physical paper size is chosen by the printer at runtime. This merely ensures that the report will be formatted according to the report width and height that you have set.
If at runtime, your actual paper size in the printer is different (eg, you design according to legal, but you printer contains letter), you can use the property PAGESIZE in your command line to dynamically change the paper size in your report, and Reports will try to format your report accordingly. Again, this property PAGESIZE does not switch the physical paper in the printer. It only ensures that the report is formatted according to what you specify as width and height.
2. You want to set the "physical" paper size that the report will finally print on. This is controlled by the printer. In reports, you can control which tray should be chosen, but you cannot control what physical paper size it should print on. This is controlled by the printer. Report will print on the paper size that is present in the relevant printer tray.
