Selected Color Not Matching

I have a solid logo color that I need to match my text to.  I've done this for years but now the color is slightly off.  I select color in the character palette, the colors dialogue comes up, I select the eyedropper and then click on the center of my logo, it is yellow.  When I apply the color it is noticeably more orange.  The same goes for choosing grey in a large area to sample from, the grey I'm trying to apply is darker.
The same thing is happening in Dreamweaver when sampling a large area for the web pages background so it seems it's an adobe wide thing for me.  I tested it in apple's Pages and the color sample seems to work properly.
Is there some setting somewhere that changes the color?
Macbook Pro, 23inch display (calibrated) images are in Pro Photo RGB
Thanks for any clues.

try creating a new blank 8-bit sRGB document and run your test in that bit/color space
my guess is the shift is a mismatch between color spaces/gamuts (so you may also need to CONVERT your logo to sRGB) or at least get them both in the same bit/space — also that you may have some Color Setting to check for Preserving Embedded Profiles and Mismatch behaviors)
also, when working on this kind of stuff for web, I usually CONVERT to sRGB at the beginning of the process (saving my master file in its original space) to avoid these types of issues
BTW, i am pretty sure dreamweaver is not color manage
on a Mac that means tagged/untagged/unmanaged dreamweaver color will shift from Photoshop depending on how close or far your monitor is from sRGB profile
in Safari that means tagged and untagged sRGB will mismatch...

  • InDesign colors not matching Photoshop

    I'm hoping someone can help. I am  on Adobe CS5, my colors are all synced to North America General Purpose 2  through Bridge but the color in my Indesign files never match my  Photoshop files. (Consequently, then the PDFs made from the files match  InDesign as well). The profiles match in both Photoshop and InDesign.  Any ideas how I can fix it so my colors in InDesign/Acrobat match?
    Also,  I have CS3 on another computer and the files colors match from  Photoshop to InDesign on my computer with CS3. I took screen shots of my  CS3 seettings and made my CS5 color settings all match, but the colors  still do not match up.  I also tried resetting my preferences for  InDesign, Photoshop and Bridge but it still doesn't match!
    Anyone have any ideas???

    Ok, in Photoshop I converted the profile to US Web Coated (SWOP) v. 2 even though the color settings said it was already there. Then went into ID Image color settings and it was on document default, I changed to US Web Coated (SWOP) v 2 but the colors still aren't matching. I took a few screen shots of Photoshop and InDesign below...
    By the way, I appreciate all your efforts to help me figure this out!

  • Officejet Pro 8625 Photo print colors not matching monitor!

    I just purchased this Officejet Pro 8625 yesterday and while I love many of it's features, I noticed that when printing photos the prints come out very dark and even a bit 'muddy" ie they not only do not match what I see on my Samsung monitor, but they are not really even close. I have used an HP officejet 7310xi for many years...and photos printed from that have been nearly always true to the original photo files/monitor appearance.
    I have already run all the printing tests, and they all actually look fine other than Test #1 from the Print Diagnostic page...so calibrated the linefeed. The print heads are clean, etc. I spent over an hour on the phone with tech support early this morning and no resolution...so I am at a loss here as to why the color is so off. The tech told me that the ink cartridges that come with the printer might be the issue, but I don't understand why that would be the case if it's authentic HP ink.
    I am using good glossy photo paper and have tried several settings, and printing from both within Photoshop Elements 11 with the RGB color settings, and from PSP 9, as well as without going through any editing program. Nothing has helped.
    Before I give up and return this printer (because while I need it for faxing and other functions, I also need photo prints that at least come close to what my monitor shows), I'm hoping someone here might have some ideas.
    The tech and I did download the most recent drivers/software from the HP website as the software on the included cd was actually not the most recent.
    Thank you!

    My suggestion about using the onboard USB is to rule out both the USB & WiFi ports.
    If printing from the 8625 USB port produces the same results then you may have a defective printer.
    Have you also tried printing a sample image that is not yours? (using the O/S image program)

    Of all the browsers, only IE6 and below do not know how to do
    PNG
    transparency. Other PNG graphics are fine in IE. So, this
    statement is a
    bit misleading.

  • Color not matching???

    I am creating a DVD in the latest DVD Studio Pro and it consists of a first play that plays a video clip which dissolves to a photoshop file. After that the first play's end action is to the photoshop file itself as the first menu. This is all in 720 x 480 anamorphic. I created the first play in fcp. I noticed in fcp that the photoshop file looks lighter in color and has less contrast than the photoshop file looks in photoshop and dvd studio. I need these to match seamlessly and not change color.
    Here is the way I created the first play: I assembled the timeline like I said above and then exported a self contained quicktime and then created a mpg2 in compressor at 8mbps.
    I know the first play is video and the menu is a graphic, but there shouldn't be a difference. My co-worker did it in Premiere and encore and there is not difference. Am I doing something wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,
    John

    John:
    I assume you are using Standard Menus what means you can add video as menu background. If so you can create a short sequence in FCP using just the photoshop file you created to use as menu barckgroung, i.e. a 30 sec lenght sequence.
    Export that sequence using same workflow that your first play movie and put the so created "static movie" as background in your menu.
    Now both must match in color look.
    Hope it helps !

  • Why does Lightroom color not match when editing in Photoshop CS3

    I just started Using Lightroom 4, the only version of lightroom that I have used. Short version, saves me heaps of time. But I went to edit more in photoshop and noticed that the color is dramatically different. I have Photoshop CS3 (10.0.1)and the color space is ProPhoto to match lightroom. If I make edits in lightroom, say removing dust spots, it shows in the photoshop version. It seems that on the shadow side is where it really shows. My workflow would be to import as original RAW in lightroom 4 (canon 1d mark II) and go about editing. Right click to edit in Photoshop CS3, and this is where colors go crazy. Then if I save the file with no edits done in Photoshop and compare side by side in lightroom, they are completely different. What is causing the drastic difference?
    These are screenshots where in the left screenshot the original image is the dark image and the lighter is what it looks like when opened in Photoshop. The compare in lightroom on the right screenshot is what it looks like when I saved the file from Photoshop. So how does opening in Photoshop, then hitting save change the image? If i make the edit in lightroom then export the jpeg and open in photoshop, I get the appropriate color, exactly the same as my original lightroom raw.
    My external editor settings in lightroom are tiff, prophoto colorspace.
    photoshop preferences are to preserve embedded profiles.

    Just to make sure we're talking about the same thing, when you "Edit in" Photoshop CS3, it should give a warning dialog that says the version of ACR in Photoshop isn't compability, with the option "Open anyway" (won't work well) or "Render in Lightroom" (which should be fine).  Or, if you've created your own "Edit in" preset, you should get the option "Edit a copy with Lightroom Adjustments".
    So long as you've chosen "Render in Lightroom" or "Edit a copy with Lightroom Adjustments" (depending on how you've edit up "Edit in...") then colour should be OK.
    Colour options in PS should be something like:
    Check all the "Ask when..." options, just to make sure you get warned of mis-matches.  And I suggest the RGB policy should be "preserve...".
    And the final thing: to be sure of no colour mis-match, you need a calibrated/profiled monitor (with a hardware tool like Spyder, ColorMunki, Eye-One etc).  When there isn't a monitor profile containing a colour space (which needs a hardware tool, generally) then different programs can make different assumptions and display the same image differently.

  • Selection color not working with table that has DefaultTableModel

    hi folks,
    I noticed if a table has a AbstractTableModel, when you select a row, by default the highlight color is light blue. However, if a table has a DefaultTableModel, even if you invoke table.setSelectionBackgroun(color) and table.setSelectionForefround(color), the highlight color stays invisible. is this a bug? what's the cause of this problem?
    thanks!!

    Read this section from the Swing tutorial on [url http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/uiswing/components/table.html#renderer]Using Table Renderers. Here is a simple example to get you started
        class SimpleRenderer extends DefaultTableCellRenderer
            public Component getTableCellRendererComponent(
                JTable table, Object value, boolean isSelected, boolean hasFocus, int row, int column)
                super.getTableCellRendererComponent(table, value, isSelected, hasFocus, row, column);
                if (hasFocus)
                    setBackground( Color.cyan );
                else if (isSelected)
                    setBackground( table.getSelectionBackground() );
                else
                    setBackground( table.getBackground() );
                return this;
        }

  • Image selected does not match Navigator

    Hi
    I cannot get my navigator to match the image I am looking at.
    Please help.

    Click cursor on an image in the Library Grid view will show that image in Navigator.
    but Hover the cursor over a thumbnail in the Filmstrip (or anywhere over the folder panel) and Navigator will show the image under the cursor.
    So do not leave the mouse cursor placed above the filmstrip or folders panel- may be an answer.

  • Select color does not seem to work in 2014.2on my mac. I don't understand what I am supposed to change in preferences

    I see there are references to select color not working on the mac. Mine does not seem to work but I think it did when I first downloaded. There is some discussion of changing preferences... In what way?

    Photoshop. 2014.2.2release.
    or 20141204 . r.310.x64
    MacBook Pro The ye dropper should be able to select a given color and find it throughout the image. And it should be adjustable to select colors that are related. I am only getting a "no pixels selected" error message. Even if there is one layer.

  • PS Elements 11 -- Incorrect Colors, color painted not matching color selected -- Help please!

    Having a really odd issue with colors. The color that I have in my brush/paint bucket does not match the color that I picked up in my eye dropper/foreground color. Instead it paints out some diluted version of the color I'm using, and I have no idea why. I tried to look up a solution -- I reset the paint brush, all of the tools. And I have no layer styles set on said layers used.
    Any ideas how I could fix this? I need too desperately.. And as a side note, I am using RGB for color.

    Suggest that you reset the brush tool. On the tool's option bar, look for this:
    Click on it to reset the tools. If that does not fix it, go to Edit>Preferences>General and look for for this:
    Click on it, close PSE, then open the program.

  • Photshop CS5 paint bucket colors do not match selected color picker colors

    I recently installed CS5 on my laptop after first removing it from my previous machine.
    All licences were validated so no problems there.
    Now when using paint bucket in photoshop, the colors that I select in the color picker are not the colors that result when I use the paint bucket.
    If I create a new black canvas then the colors selected in color picker work with paint bucket.
    But if I attempt to recolor the background in an existing image that I import into photoshop, I get the mismatch with colors when I use paint bucket. My method for selecting colors is the same in each case, I select 'set foreground color' and set the color using html values entry at the bottom of the panel.
    Any help would be gratefully received.

    Try changing Image > Mode to RGB – does the Tool work as expected then?
    To quote from the Help:
    Indexed Color mode
    Indexed Color mode produces 8-bit image files with up to 256 colors. When converting to indexed color, Photoshop builds a color lookup table (CLUT), which stores and indexes the colors in the image. If a color in the original image does not appear in the table, the program chooses the closest one or uses dithering to simulate the color using available colors.
    Although its palette of colors is limited, indexed color can reduce file size yet maintain the visual quality needed for multimedia presentations, web pages, and the like. Limited editing is available in this mode. For extensive editing, you should convert temporarily to RGB mode. Indexed color files can be saved in Photoshop, BMP, DICOM (Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine), GIF, Photoshop EPS, Large Document Format (PSB), PCX, Photoshop PDF, Photoshop Raw, Photoshop 2.0, PICT, PNG, Targa®, or TIFF formats.

  • Colors in print preview not matching colors in soft proofing

    Hi There,
    Just wanted to print a new photo and realized that the colors in print preview do not match the colors in soft proofing. In both cases I selected the same icc profile and rendering method. The print colors matched the colors in print preview. I never had a problem so far. All new prints will be checked with soft proofing and adjusted when necessary. I never paid attention to the color rendition in print preview and all prints perfectly matched the colors from the soft proofing. I was surprised when my print came out of the printer and the colors weren't matching the soft proofing colors, but that of the print preview.
    I don't understand why Photoshop renders the colors differently in the first place. Please see attached screenshot for the difference in the blue/cyan colors.
    I would appreciate if anybody could point me in the right direction in what is causing this difference. I don't care if the print view colors will match the print, but I do care when soft proofing is not working.
    Thank you.
    Best regards,
    D.

    Here are some addtional details:
    PS 13.1.2
    Mac OS X 10.8.4
    12 GB Ram
    60 GB free disk space
    I printed the same photo from two other computers (MacBook and iMac) with different PS versions (CS4 and CS5). The prints turned out identical to the first one which matches the print preview color rendition on my main computer (MacPro) running CS6. Strangely the colors in print preview of CS5 on the iMac renders the colors identical to the soft proofing colors.

  • Image Trace colors don't match selected color group. (Mac, CS6)

    When I select the Document Library option when making a color image trace, the colors shift in the image but do not match the selected color group. I've tried multiple color groups, and the colors always change, but never match the selected swatches. Is this typical? Can anyone explain this?

    After some additional experimentation, I discovered the problem was with images dragged from iPhoto and dropped into an illustrator file. When I placed the files instead, the colors matched the selected color group. After trying several other images using both methods, it appears as if dragging and dropping from iPhoto is a no-no when wanting to image trace and change the colors.

  • Color picker color does not match object color - CS3

    Hi - in RGB Illustrator doc, when I select RGB color in color picker and assign to object, the color in the object is not the same as the color I selected from the color picker.
    I think its related to view>>proof colors because if I proof using my LCD monitor colorspace, the color in the object and the color picker match but then they don't match the color in the palettes color box.
    But that's a kludge because ultimately I want to proof color onscreen using my color printer profile.
    has anyone seen this? Never had this problem with CS2.
    Using CS3 with Leopard.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    What you describe we recognized in Photoshop. We solved the issue going to the Paint Bucket Tool.
    There you can select e.g. Anti Alias, Contiguous, All Layers. With selecting (ticking) the option 'All Layers' the problem was solved. The options Anti Alias and Contiguous were already selected.
    Good luck!!!
