Selected Sets for Catalog code - 9

Dear all,
I am aware that Selected sets can be created only for Catalog type 1 & 3. But in our business we have classified different type of defect codes in type 9. Evenhough I am attaching specific catalog defect type in MIC, when I see it in the notification screen, whole list of defect type is showing. Is there any possibility to group the defect codes according to the plant? (For your info - We have 4 different plant and each one of them has to use different catalog type as product manufactured is different)
Regards,
R.Ponniah ;

hi,
Use catalog profile  for specific defect type, plant wise it is not possible in std SAP, better to define catalog profile and assign all defect type code grp. in that profile and assign that profile with ur notification type. goto config (SPRO)-> Quality Notification>Defect Recording-> define notification type----> and maintain all in that pop- up one by one.
Defect type is not plant specific.

  • Selected set assignment to code group

I have maintained a catalog " S", under which i have maintained code groups and codes in QS41, but here the usage indicator is deactive. I cannot select it.
Now when i use QS51,i am unable to view the codes. the selected set is empty. In this case how to assign the code groups and codes to seleccted set.
any help, i am new to qm

There is some confusion you have in code gr & selected set.
In simple words -->in QS41  you create defect codes & code gr for catalo types like 1,3,9 etc.
But in QS51 you combine different codes from code grs to form selected sets.Practically selected sets are only used for   Characteristics attributes(1) and Usage decision(3) and by default they carry valuations.
For catalog defect type (9) I would suggest to add and create your own codes and code groups as per business requirement in QS41.You should not actually create selected set for catalog 9.

    Hi
When we enter a code in Char. Attribute catalog or a selected set code, the system requires transport request. How can my end user maintain, catalogs and selected sets after go live?

See following steps.  You will need BASIS people to set this up.  Also check OSS notes as they have some notes on this.

    1. In IMG, find the configuration line for the object (EDIT CATALOGS) and just u201Chighlightu201D the object: (like Quality Management> Quality Planning> Basic Data> Catalog> "EDIT CATALOGS"
    2. From the EDIT menu, select u201CDisplay IMG Activityu201D.
    3. Select the Maint. Objects Tab, then double-click on one of the u201Ccustomizing objectsu201D (in this case V_QPGR_CL).

  • QM Catalogs / Codes / Selected Sets

    Hi,
Can any one please explain what exactly are Catalogs, Code groups, Selected Sets and their codes?
    Regards,
    Pavan

    hello
    1) Catalog  are codes defined to  manage and standardize information. It consists a set of codes which can be used for different functions
In Standard SAP different catalogs are defined for 1. characteristic attribute u2013 mailing used for qualitative result recording . 2.- task catalog 9 . defect catalog, E u2013 Defect locations etc.
    This helps in analysis better
    2) Code groups are defined within a catalog type
For eg in catalog 1 characteristic attribute you can define colour as code group. Code group actually holds a set of codes
    3) Codes make up the lowest level of a catalog. They can describe, for example, a characteristic attribute, a defect type, a defect location or a usage decision.
For eg for code group colour the codes can green , yellow, white etc
    4) Selected sets define whether a particular code is accepted or rejected. This defined for each plan
So code group colour , code green is acceptable, yellow is rejected
You can check this link which has given all the details

  • Code group & selected sets

    Can anybody please tell me,
Why & when it is necessary to maintain code group & selected sets. Where it is then use. What is releation between them. Will appreciate if explain with suitable example from industry. Please helpout.Newcomer in QM.

    HI
code groups are used in Notifications and quality result parameters.
Code groups are used to combine and structure codes within a catalog type
code groups at client level to group codes that have the same contents or relate to one another, within a catalog type. Codes, that are assigned to a code group are also known as group codes.
When you maintain the code group index, the system locks the required catalog type for other users. However, if you use the individual maintenance function, only the required code group is locked.
these are can ot create by plant wise.
1.when you have material which measures by means of color then you canhave code group color and codes of red ,black etc..
2.if you have defect codes then you can mention them
3.if you have problems of perticular part, then in notification by use of codegroups and codes you can enter the data.
A selected set contains a combination of different codes at plant level, for example, coded descriptions of characteristic attributes (such as color, shape, surface characteristics), defect causes or usage decisions from different code groups.
selected sets to combine codes from several code groups for processing that are allowed or useful for a particular application.
Codes that are copied into a selected set are known as set codes.
When you maintain the selected set index, the system locks the required catalog type for other users. However, if you use the individual maintenance function, only the required selected set is locked.
4.with combinationof code and code groups you can create the selected sets , canbe used in Usage decission.(ex:aprroved, no approved,ok, not ok etc)
Code groups are createsd by Qs41

  • Code groups, codes & selected sets during UD

    Dear Friends,
Can I create my own catalog types.
I have created my own catalog types.
    1) For Usage Decision (R)
    2) For Defets recording (P)
During defect recording the system is picking the code groups & codes created by me and which are assigned . It is not showing other ones.
But during Usage decision it is picking all the code groups, codes & selected sets attached to standard UD catalog "3".
I am unable to understand how the system is behaving like this.
I have created my own notification type Y1. I have created my Catalog profile (YQM000001).
I have assigned this profile to inspection type.
I have assigned this notification type to inspection type.
In the catalog profile YQM000001, I have assigned two catalogs (R & P).
In catalogs & catalog profile for notification type, problems field assigned the catalog type "P".
One more issue while recording the defects I am getting notification type as Y1 (created by me) but the catalog profile is showing standard one "QM0000001".
I am unable to understand these all. Do anybody has got any solution.

    Dear Anuradha,
There is no need to create separate catalog type  for your problem of displaying specific UD codes while giving user decision. You can assign the specific 'UD selected set' from catalog type 3 ( User decision) in SPRO ' Maintain inspection type'  for QM. Following is the path you can assign the  desired UD option you need to see while recording UD:
SPRO >> Quality Management >> Quality Inspection >> Inspection lot creation >>  Maintain inspection types >>execute >> select the  inspection type say '01' and view details >> there will be field UD selected set, assign the specific selected set made for  your plant and  save.
By doing this when you go for giving any UD, codes defined by you only will be displayed (not all).
Didn't understand your issue related to notification, but in same above screen you can also assign notification type for particular insp. type.
Looking at your  requirement there is no need to create separate insp type or notification type  just make proper use of  existing one and do proper assignment.
Please let me know if you have any problem in resolving this.
    Best Regards,
    Shekhar

  • Catalogs and selected sets

Hi, how catalogs qs41 and selected sets qs51 are related? can u pls explain with one example?

    Hi
There is one best thread for this....
Re: Code group & selected sets
    In addition to that
catalogs : Are the code Gr & codes.
selected sets :Selected set are the codes which are from different code gruops in simple language.
    Say example defect code  9:
    code gr X -->has codes
                                   A:
                                   B:
                                   C:
    Code Gr Y-->has codes
                                      E:
                                      F:
                                      G:
Now I will create a selected set with codes like
    Selected set XY-->has codes
                                               A:
                                                C:
                                                F:
                                                G:
That means from different code grups I have selected some codes which I have added in one selected set.
similerly only few codes of one code group can be added in to selected set.
This is advantage of selected set.& how they are related.
    Regards

  • UD - Selected set code does not exist

    Dear All,
We have create material in 0001 plant. It is consumable material and QA is not required. But by mistake Inspection flag was activited in material master.
Now material received is in QA Stock. We have created inspection plan and not inspection lot is in REL status.
During UD system shows following message :
"Selected set code does not exist, or data entered is incomplete"
Is there any way to take stock in unrestricted without doing any QA activity ?
    Thanks and Regards,
    Nirav

    Hi,
Why don't you simply complete the Stock posting using 'Inspection lot stock' tab in QA32?
If you only need to take the stock out of QI and doesn't need Usage decision then why do bother about it.
Besides, this error comes when the UD selected set defined in Configuration is not maintained for the Plant.
To check this, Follow this path,
QCC0> Quality inspection> Maintain inspection type. Select the Relative inspection type and see what is maintained.
Once you maintain this Selected set for the plant 0001 using QS51, you won't get this error. Other way, define that selected set in the configuration which is already maintained for the plant.

  • Assigning Selected set to Quality Plan

    Hi Experts,
I have create a selected set (catalog type 3 for usage decisions) for a plant and applied posting proposals to each code in transaction QS51.
In certain situations, when a material is on stop ship for example, the users would like the system to propose postings to blocked stock regardless of the code selected in the usage decision.  My idea was to create a new selected set, then reference it in an inspection plan that the material is assigned to, but this does not seem possible.
Can selected sets for usage decisions be assigned at a more granular level than by plant?
    Thanks
    Tim

    Hello Tim,
That's great!!! You are having another option. Pls do share it with us. That will be great information exchange.

  • UD selected sets

    Hi Experts,
I have created code  & code groups with catlog type 3 ,then created selected set for my plant 6000 with catlog 3. Then I assigned this selected sets in Maintain Settings at Plant Level for my plant 6000.
As per my understanding system should show me only this selected sets when I am giving UD in QA11. But system showing me lots of UD code there with UD code which I had assigned to my plant setting.
Please tell me how to select desired UD code.

  • How to activate the option posting period for T.code F.2E

    HI All,
When we execute T.code F.2E the selection parameters available are
    1. company code
    2. partner company code
    3. open at key date
    4. display currency.
As the program documentation says we can reconcilie by selecting option for posting period in F.2E
Below is the SAP documentation on the program.
You use the Posting period selection option to specify the time period in which the posting dates of the documents need to fall in order to be included by the program. Open items, cleared items, and payment documents are all selected. See the section Parameter Open for key date and Selection Option Posting period for further information. If you want to start the program with this date selection, the option must be selected accordingly.
But the field for posting period is not available in selection parmeter, we are on 4.7 EE version.
Please let me know how to activate the option for posting period in selection parameters for T.code F.2E

  • Displaying long text maintained for selected set codes in result recording

    Hi Gurus,
I have maintained qualitative mic.For this mic i have defined selected set codes & for these selected set codes i have maintained long text.
My client requirement is that this long text should be visible while doing result recording for the mic.Is this possible.
    Regards
    Amit

How can they expect that?  Long text can be... well.. long.......  How can you include that on the same screen as results recording.  What if you have 5 charac with long text?  What if each selected set choice has long text and you had two choices for each?  That's ten sections of long text on one screen?   Impossible.
Printing the long text on the cert shouldn't be a problem.  You just have to get someone to code it into the layout set.

  • Where Used for Code groups or Selected Sets

    Dear all,
can any body plz tell me how can i know which code group or selected set is used in what qualitative MICs.
    either any report or transaction...
    thanks in advance
    zeeshan

    Hi Zeeshan,
    According to my information,,,
    For Code Group
In QS41/42/43/44, reach up to the second screen "Change View: Codes" Overview. And then click on the "Used in Selected Set" Or short key "CntrlShiftF3"
    For Selected Set.
I think no such std sap report is available. But what you can do is use the work bench CWBQM in display mode,,,,,
    - CWBQM---> select the "Current Working Area" as "Q_OPR_000000000010".
    - Apply the Basic Selection or Additional Selection Criteria" and then press Cntrl+F7.
    - the list of the MIC data will be available here.
    Or
You have to write done a query SQVI
    Or
    Develop a customized report.

    Shyamal
