Selected TAG doesn't format text.

After pressing Enter key (PC) to begin new paragraph, then selecting TAG for that paragraph (eg., Heading2Body), text stays unformatted. Pressing Apply several times makes no difference. To solve this problem, I did a Copy Special < Copy Paragraph Format of previous Heading2Body text. Then, pasted the format where i planned to start a new paragraph. Is there a quicker way? Have any of you had this problem and, if so, how did you deal with it?

Pls always include the specific version of FM in your msg (including the "pxxx" numbers as shown in Help About).
When you say "selecting TAG for that paragraph" please clarify what specific actions, do you mean with your mouse, with keyboard shortcuts, or ??
Are you on a master page or a body page?

  • Can't format text when entire text box is selected

    I'm having trouble with text formatting. I have a document in which I can't format text at all if the entire box is selected; all formatting menus are grayed out. (I can format text if individual lines are highlighted using the cursor.) I've tried resetting preferences and resaving the document using IDML. If it matters, I'm using OSX Mavericks, iD CS6, and the Suitcase Fusion extension. Can anyone help?

    Are selecting the text, or the frame? If the latter, you can only format text when selecting the frame if it isn't threaded to other frames. For the former, turn off suitcase, to start, and if that doesn't change things see Replace Your Preferences

  • How Do I Display HTML Formatted Text From A Data Table In Crystal Reports?

    I'm creating reports in Crystal XI.  The information being displayed in the reports comes from data tables where the text is formatted in HTML.
    I've worked with Crystal Reports enough to know that HTML text pulled from a data table doesn't appear in Crystal the same way it does in a web browser.  Crystal Reports ignores all the tags (...unless I'm missing something...) and just displays the text.
    Someone far more Crystal savy than I (...who I don't have access to...) came up with a Formula Field workaround that tricks Crystal Reports into displaying some basic HTML tags.  Here's that workaround:
    <!--
    stringVar TableName := ;
    TableName := Replace (TableName, "<ul>","<br> <br>");
    TableName := Replace (TableName, "<li>", "<br>   &bull; ");
    TableName := Replace (TableName, "</li>", "");
    TableName := Replace (TableName, "</ul>","<br> <br>");
    TableName := Replace (TableName, "<a", "<u><font color='blue'");
    TableName := Replace (TableName, "</a>", "</font></u>");
    TableName
    -->
    QUESTION - Does any similar workaround exist so I can display an HTML Table in Crystal Reports?  If not, is there any way to display HTML formatted text from a data table in Crystal Reports as it would appear in a web browser?

    Hi Steven,
    To display html text in Crystal Reports follows these steps.
    1. Right click on the field and select Paragraph tab.
    2. Under 'Text Interpretation' select 'HTML Text' and click OK.
    I have tried using the way,but it never works.So reply me if there is any way to solve the issue

  • Report - Formatting text IN text items

    I'm trying to create a report with (at the end of the report) a text field extracted from the (Oracle) database.
    A user creates the value of the field, with a sort of HTML formatting on the text (to make text in BOLD is used <B> and </B>, for ITALIC <I> and </I> and to UNDERLINE...).
    If I generate the report in HTML format everything is OK, but in PDF format I've got the tags written with the text.
    This mean that instead of having:
    "Hello World"
    I've got
    "Hello <B>World</B>"
    Is there a way to let Oracle Report display a text item with some words in BOLD (ITALIC, etc) and some others not?
    I've tryed the "Contains HTML Tag" without any result, I'm currently using 6i, but I can switch to 9i.
    Any help or suggestion is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    OK I used the ' " ' to put your message into a box at the start of mine, but I don't seem to be able to use the ">" to "indent" my text... For example-- the following is not indented: >So now I am putting this text here in quotes, let's see via PREVIEW.
    No, that doesn't seem to do anything...
    Steve
    You have to put the > character at the beginning of a line.
    Alternatively, you can use this HTML to set off text as a blockquote without the background:
    <blockquote style="margin-left: 50px;">Quoted text goes here</blockquote>
    Which will render your text like this:
    Quoted text goes here
    You can add your own background color like this:
    <blockquote style="background:lightblue; border:1px solid black; padding:3px; margin-left: 50px;">Quoted text goes here</blockquote>
    Where 'lightblue' can be replaced with any CSS or HTML color name.
    This will render your text like this:
    Quoted text goes here

  • Format text in dynamic pages

    I4ve built a form in Portal where I insert multi-line text into a date base. Then I4ve created dynamic page where I call through and oracle tag to this text inserted in date base but the text I obtain has different format.The one I get is as single line format.
    Does anyone Knows how to apply a format to a text in dynamic pages or DB?

    Hi,
    When you are printing or displaying the data make use of the <pre> tags. This tag keeps the formatting as it is.
    Here is a sample
    <html>
    <head>
    </head>
    <body>
    <oracle>
    for c1 in select description from tab
    loop
    htp.p('<pre>');
    htp.p(c1.description);
    htp.p('</pre>');
    end loop
    </oracle>
    </body>
    </html>
    Thanks,

  • Need help formatting text field default value

    Hello,
    I've received a customer request to put default text into the Value section of a text field. They're requesting that the default text include line breaks, bullets, etc. I added a Text Field object and added the default text to the Object tab > Value tab Default field but can't figure out how to add line breaks, etc.
    Thanks in advance,
    Saskia

    Hi,
    this is possible but not doable with the UI of Designer.
    The workaround is as follows:
    1. Create a text, enter your default text with all the formattings you need (text color, bold text, line breaks etc.)
    2. Create a text field and enter any word as default value. Let's say "Default".
    3. Select the text and the switch to the XML Source view.
    There you will find all the formatted text between the <value> tags such as:
    <value>
         <exData contentType="text/html">
              <body xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xmlns:xfa="http://www.xfa.org/schema/xfa-data/1.0/"><p style="letter-spacing:0in">This is<span style="xfa-spacerun:yes"> </span></p><p style="color:#ff0000;letter-spacing:0in">default Text</p><p style="letter-spacing:0in"><span style="xfa-spacerun:yes"> </span>• with<span style="xfa-spacerun:yes"> </span><span style="font-weight:bold">RichText</span> formatting.</p></body>
         </exData>
    </value>
    4. Select the whole code between the <value> tags and copy it to the clipboard (ctrl + c).
    5. Go to the Design View, select the text field, go back to the XML Source view.
    6. There you'll also find the value <tags> and your default value you entered before.
    <value>
         <text>Default</text>
    </value>
    7. Select this code section and paste the value copied before to the clipboard by pressing ctrl + v.
    8. That's it. When you now go back to the Design View your text field shows a formatted RichText as defaul text.

  • It is possible to Display HTML Formatted Text?

    Hi
    This is what I want to accomplish:
    I created a system and now I want to add a help button on each page. This button will open a popup window which will display the help of the current page. (This is done)
    But now I want to display a formated text (plain or html) just like this example:
    h2. Help
    Page 20:
    Description:
    This page displays a list of users.
    And don't like this other:
    Help Page 20: Description: This page displays a list of users.
    Thanks a lot!

    This is still a problem...I'd like to add a bit to it.
    The HTML Editor correctly places formatting tags around the text and the item is saved to the db (or whatever)...however, when displaying the formatted text on an apex generated page, and it doesn't matter what type of DISPLAY (saved, non-saved, escape, etc..) is being used, Apex places <SPAN class="display_only"> around the text in question which is apparently overriding the html tags, so the text displays in the CSS defaults regardless of the formatting used by the HTML Editor. The reason the formatted text displays correctly in a "report" is because this span doesn't exist.
    I'd like to take the time to add a change request and request that item level classes are not buried within apex and the theme. It would be nice if they were displayed on the item, for example, so they could be easily removed or overrided...this span for example overrides even a TD level custom class because of it's placement, so there seems to be little or no way to override it.

    Obviously, as seen above, I'm doing something wrong or Live View does not do all the functions that Design View use to do.  I realize I can still access Design View in non-Fluid Grid Layout documents and that is my current work-around.  I copy from my Word file into Design View available in non-Fluid, then copy that code into my Fluid Grid Layout document, not real efficient use of my time.  And, even that work-around may not be available after the next upgrade.

    Hans thank you for your reply and attention to this matter.  Moreover, with your steeped expertise I do not, in any fashion, intend to be flippant or capricious.
    However, I do not believe the reply is on point since I'm not discussing the insertion of an HTML tag/element; but rather, the placing of complex formatted text into my various web pages.
    Design View and  2014.1 Live View seem to serve different functions.  That is, Design View, for us, serves as a highly sophisticated HTML5 code generator that allows us to properly display complex formatted text that originally is created as a Word docx file.  As I noted in my original post, the complex formatted text from the Word file is then pasted into Design View and thus properly renders on the web page.  I invite you to try this yourself.  Simply copy my properly formatted text in my original post (that can be found at "Using Design View the web page rendered this way:") to a Word file, and it will retain the complex formatting, then copy that Word file text to both Design View and  2014.1 Live View files.  Please apprise me of your results.
    Discussion has been had in at least two separate threads on the Design View disappearance in Fluid Grid.  In https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1597260 staff member Lalita wrote "It would be helpful for us if you list the issues you are seeing with fluid grid live view editing."  And in https://forums.adobe.com/message/6807088#6807088 staff member Subhadeep wrote "If you can list down the workflows you are trying while editing in Live View & the issues you are facing in doing so, it will help us understand what is amiss & suggest alternative workflows to do the same."  I believe I've pointed out issues when attempting to use Live View for functions or work flow that customarily had been done in Design View.
    Being a CC subscriber, if someone can provide me with a workflow using other additional Adobe products to get my complex formatted text from Word ultimately to my Dreamweaver web page, be it an image insert or whatever, I would take the suggestions.
    The difference in the coding of my example in my original post is as follows.

    It is readily apparent that Design View is a much needed code generator in the Dreamweaver product.  Live View serves completely other, and needed, purposes.  Therefore, I still, after all the forum discussions, do not understand why Design View has been removed from Fluid Grid.
    Again Hans thank you for your reply.  But unless I'm missing something, citation to the links you provided does not solve my problem.  And that problem is this: If Design View is on its way out and thus will be completely removed from Dreamweaver at some point, then how do I provide my information (i.e. complex executive job descriptions) on my website?
    Apparently a vote is taking place https://forums.adobe.com/ideas/3922 on the issue of placing Design View back into Fluid Grid.  I do not understand why the need for two rather disjunctive functionalities are at the mercy of the democratic process.  These are matters of engineering principles not "town hall gatherings".

  • Regarding email notifications, I want to receive "Submitted Data" and Formatted Text... Is this possible?

    It seems as though I cannot receive formatted text, which is crucial to my form submissions making sense.

    Thank you so much, Ram!  I REALLY APPRECIATE YOUR HELP!
    I am wondering if it possible to manually create a node in RSA6 for the InfoSet.  I tried it by doing the following:
    I went to RSA6 and clicked on the white icon for "Create Node".  I then entered the number "8", followed  by the name of the InfoSet.  (I entered an "8", because all our DataSources seem to start with an "8".  I'm not sure why.)
    The DataSource now shows up, but when I double-click on it, nothing happens.  When I select it in the hierarchy and then click the icons for "Display" or "Change" or "Check", I just get an error message that says, "You have not selected any DataSources."
    Also, do you know where I can get my hands on the white paper?
    Thanks again!
    Regards,
    Sarah-Jane

  • How to display Formatted text in adobe form

    In adobe form, I want to display the text which is inputed by formatted text edit in WD ABAP application.
    It is always displayed as plain text like '<p>this is test text.</p>'. I have set the attribute Data Format to XHTML, Field Format to Rich Text for the Text Field in adobe form. But it doesn't work.
    How to display these formatted text?
    Thanks and Best Regards,
    Jun

    Hi Juergen,
    I found Your blog and found it  really interesting... though I was not able to use it: I (like Jun Li is asking, I guess) need to use a dynamic text, containing formatting informations (according the xhtml syntax).
    I tried to pass it to the form by an ABAP-dictionary based interface and by means of the context (in a webdynpro page), but both tries failed.
    Some suggestion will be greatly appreciated.
    Thankyou

  • How to select different parts of the text? cmd button no longer does that...

    After installing Maverics i can no longer propertly edit my work as I cannot mark different parts of text using cmd button. Shift works as before for highlighting all the text from starting point to selected point but I can no longer use cmd to highlight different areas of the text. Is this an OS bug? Or was the button for selecting different parts of the text changed? I tried everything...

    It's just a small part of what makes Pages 5 so "stunning" (Apple's word). You think stripping out the nifty ability to mark non-contiguous passages of text was neat? Sure that was nice. But Apple has gotten rid of more, so much more. And for free!
    Just wait till you put the product through its paces and you discover other nice features that are missing, such as (but not limited to):
    - no linking of text boxes!  Yes, that's right. Now a newsletter that had a "continued on page 6" or whatever will be broken by Pages 5. Stunning! (Even more stunning, Pages 5 will strip out all sorts of formatting from documents created with Pages 4.3 and it will do ao without warning and will save the document in a NEW unified file format so that it cannot be opened by Pages 4.3, thereby potentially losing users hours and hours of work. Stunning!
    There's more!
    - Pages 5 has no mail merge, no bookmarks, no images in headers/footers! Pages 4.3 has those features, but this stunning new release removes them.
    - Pages 5 features vastly reduced and simplified set of templates (there used to be about 130 Apple-cupplied templates, now there are about 60).
    - Page 5 also boasts NO RTF SUPPORT, so a paper your wrote with Apple's own TextEdit is not natively readable with Pages: Stunning!
    - No detail was too small to omit in this stunning new release: the vertical ruler, so you can easily place text or an obejct at a certain place in a document: gone! Setting the default zoom: gone!  Status bar reproting word count and pagecount (e.g., Page 4 of 48): Gone! View comments in the left side bar: Gone!  Autocapitalization: Gone! Search & Replace: drastically simplified!
    But here's the really good news: Pages 5 is just PERFECT for creating a one page-poster advertising a new concert by Apple employee Eddie Cue. What's more you can collaborate on it with someone else, even if they're using a PC. Now that's "stunning"!

  • How to use formatted text in a static text/laben(or other) component?

    Hello everyone,
    my web application reads a VARCHAR from a SQL Server database which is bound to a static text/label component. The problem is that I don't manage to include line breaks this way.
    Is there any way to do it? It doesn't have to be using a static text or label component, I just want to display formatted text on a web page which was read from a database.
    Thank you very much for your help,
    Arthur

    unfortunately it doesn't work this way(or I am doing it wrong as I don't know anything about css)
    If I set white-space: nowrap the text is displayed in one single line ( so probably I implemented it the right way)
    but with white-space:pre he still ignores all the whitespaces!
    reading the same text (from a microsoft sql server table)with a textarea component all whitespaces and line breaks are shown! there has to be a way to make the static text or label component act this way(I don't want to use the textarea component because it's ugly and doesn't serve for my purpose).
    can anybody help me?
    edit: observation:
    if I use "nowrap" for the textarea component he still keeps all whitespaces WITHIN the string but displays the whole string in one line
    but somehow he deletes white spaces in the beginning of the string
    the static text/label components delete all whitespaces before AND within the string
