Selecting a shape in Acrobat 8.2

Trying to select a rounded rectangle in Acrobat 8.2.  I can select a logo but not the shape.  Trying to copy it and paste on another page in the document

Hi
Have a look at this document: http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/3303
To answer your questions:
1. Yes and no. In general, the application builder will include the complete vi hierarchy of vis you created and which are static. If you call vis dynamically, you have to include them separately.
2. If the software is already there, is should not be necessary to reinstall it.
3. Generally you do not have to make entries in the registry.
Finally, you have to install the apropriate LV runtime engine. Otherwise your exe won't run.
Using LV8.0

  • Direct Selection Tool - Shape Layers in Photoshop CC Issue

I just upgraded to CC and the first major road block is the new way the direct selection tool works. In my CS6  work flow I would use the direct selection tool to jump between shape layers within the document layer. Then once the correct shape was selected I would click drag select the anchor points I want to adjust. This seems to be impossible now in CC. You can still jump between shape layers but you have to be in "All-Layers" which really hurts when I want to click drag to select specific anchor points because it selects all shapes below it. And with Active-layer selected you can't jump between shape layers with the tool but you can click drag select anchors with out selecting and shapes below the layer. The basically cut functionality right down the middle…
Below I made a very simple video showing the issue (CS6 = first PSD and CC = 2nd PSD)
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/pjlvwzmli9ihczd/CCProblemBroadband.m4v
As you can see in CS6 I could fly between layers and adjust everything with out ever changing to another tool or jumping to the layers window… I can no longer do that in CC with out having the dumb issue of also selecting the layers below it, which I don't find useful 99% of the time. Is there a setting to make this work like it did in CS4-CS6???? In my line of work, we work a lot with shape layers and this is causing more time to my work day.
    Thanks

1000x this. My designs are 100% vector shapes, so if Adobe have changed this core behavior intentionally, they’ve just made my life a lot more difficult.
We should be able to use the Direct Selection Tool to select a shape layer (similar to how the Move Tool has done) by clicking on any visible pixel. But then we should be able to freely drag-select points on that shape (starting from any neutral area) without selecting other shape layers. This is how it’s worked since before I can remember.
Here’s why the two new selection modes don’t work:
Active Layers - I can no longer freely select any visible shape. Instead I’m forced to make a time-consuming roundabout to the layer palette, where I have to squint to find my shape layer, and activate it manually before continuing. (Hitting “V” to select a layer, then “A” to get back to the D.S. Tool is nearly as cumbersome. Plus, I leave off the Move Tool's auto-select mode.)
All Layers - Treats all my shapes as if they’re on one layer. Overlapping shapes are therefore impossible to work with -- mainly drag-selecting and deselecting points -- in situ.
We either need a “legacy” setting, or some way to constrain selection on drag, via a key modifier or something. This “all or nothing" thing doesn’t work for me... and apparently for others. Why would they change such a thing?
Or maybe there’s something I’m missing. Please let that be the case!

  • Select multiple comments in Acrobat 9

Hi, is there a special way to select multiple comments in Acrobat 9.4.5 Pro? I can't just cmd-click like it should be. Half of my team is on this version and the other half is on X. X does not have this issue. Is this a bug in 9?
    Thanks

    Hello Sara,
Yes, command+click will work to select multiple comments. However, I'm working with some PDFs that have a substantial number of comments and this is taking quite some time to select them all. Additionally, it is tricky to click some of them, and if I mis-click, all the selection work is undone and everything becomes deselected. I'd like to know if there is a simpler way to select many multiple comments, such as a simple drag selection in Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.

  • Fast techniques for precisely selecting complex shapes

Are there any fast techniques that Photoshop has for selecting complex shapes, particularly outlines. I find that the Magnetic Lasso tool doesn't seem to work well when the shape is a thin outline nor does the Magic Wand seem to work well if the interiror of the shape is broken into more than one color.

There are so many ways to make selections, and the success of all of them depend upon the original image.  Making selections from channels and channel mixing work well - sometimes.  The quick selection tool works well for some things.  Then with a rough outline, using the refine edge tools speeds up the process.  It's really hard to say what works best, and there is so much information on the web about making selections.

  • Is there a Tool or function (in Illustrator or InDesign) that selects any shape and "punches" a "hole" of that shape all the way down through multiple objects to the paper or artboard?

Is there a Tool or function (in Illustrator or InDesign) that selects any shape and “punches” a “hole” of that shape all the way down through multiple objects to the paper or artboard?

In Illustrator, group the objects that you want to punch through, and use the transparency pallet.

  • Selecting Difficult Shapes - Refine Edge Tool

In Elements 11 it was announced that selecting difficult shapes like hair for cutting out people etc was a new feature.  I could find no guidance on how to do it in the program help or online.
I actually now know how to do it now because I have a tutorial from Digital Photo Magazine, but there needs to be guidance available on this new feature for anyone else who wants to use it.  It didnt feature in the new guided edits or "How To" videos (Why not?)
    Mike Grantham

Thanks Jon, it does give some guidance but isnt as good as the excellent guidance given in the UK Digital Photo Magazine CD in August 2012.  Hunting around, I did find http://download.photoshopelementsuser.com/LC/LearningCenter11/LC11-RefineEdge.mov which is clearer, although in this case it shows selecting the background, not the person (just select the person if you want to cut them out instead).  In the DP magazine it suggested doing a reasonably precise cut out with the polygonal lasso tool, doing the best you can around hair, then refining it with the refine edge brush.  The results are excellent!
My main reason for posting this was to get Adobe to put something in help on this topic.  What good is it introducing a new feature in Elements then giving absolutely no guidance on how it works?!

  • How to select a shape from pen tool for paint bucket

I was under the notion that I could make a shape with the pen tool and if I closed the the shape it would then be selected in a way that would allow me to color the interior with paint bucket.
However, when I splash the paintbucket inside my shape, it paints the whole layer, not just the part inside my shape.
Obviously I don't understand how it is supposed to work.
Apparently I've gone at this the wrong way.. I want to create a freeform shape, that once created will be a selected region in the same way a rectangle or elips would.
What is the best way to do that?  I'm shooting for thought bubble sort of shape, something along the line of the outline of an egg, but with a tail at one end.

Added tips from Tip Merchant ($200 consulation fee)
    - on mac - command/ numeric keypad Enter turns the path into a selection. Option delete then fills.
    - an action can be setup to bring up Fill Path from the Path panel menu. Just pressing enter fills with FG color
These are ways to avoid he paths panel altogether. Best way may be to use the TINY fill path icon in that panel as was pointed out by John

  • How to draw geometrical shapes on Acrobat viewer ?

For instance, empty or transluscent rectangles, lines, arrows etc... I'm not talking about creating these shapes in a pdf file. I'm talking about adding them in a layer of the viewer, on the top of whatever the viewer displays.
And I'd need to do that programmatically but I didn't even see the functionnality from the Adobe Acrobat Pro Extended commercial viewer...
    Thanks

Put your own transparent window on top of ours and draw whatever you want...

  • Iweb won't let me select images, shapes, nothing!

So.. i have a page. i put photos on it, shapes, whatever. now i click like a maniac on the images to move them, to add text, to do whatever, and nothing happens. I click on a shape (a line, arrow, that I just placed). the two dots on each end do not show up. I am about to smash this thing.
Can someone tell me, how do I move my photos around once I've dropped them on my page? I am unable to select anything.
    thanks in advance.

You don't need to browse for the Domain.sites2 file using iWeb. Just locate it in the Finder and double click it.

  • How to set the cursor tool to select tool when opening acrobat XI 11.0

I need the cursor tool to default to Select Tool and NOT Hand Tool when opening Acrobat XI 11.0

    Hi mkwillden,
Once you select the 'Select tool' then any subsequent launches of the software should keep the 'Select tool' as default.
If not then you can specify the registry setting here:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\11.0\Selection
Change the data of aDefaultSelect to Select or Hand as required.

  • Selecting which version of Acrobat to use when opening a pdf

I have a user who has Acrobat 5, 6, & 7 installed on his 10.3 system (don't ask me why - he just does).
If you do a GetInfo on a .pdf document, Acrobat 5 is listed as the default (which is what he wants).
However, if he uses Safari and clicks on a link to a .pdf document, it opens the document (in Safari) using Acrobat 7. He wants it to open the document external to Safari using Acrobat 5.
How can he set this (there doesn't seem to be a setting to control it).?

I did see another thread on how to disable the plugin:
Trash the file /Library/Internet Plug-Ins/AdobePDFViewer.plugin and restart Safari.
This did exactly what I was looking for.

  • Workaround for JSFL shape selection bug?

There seems to be a bug in the document selection reporting in JSFL in  CS4 (haven't tested earlier versions).  I submitted it as a bug to Adobe  but I'd really like to find a workaround for it.  I've included my bug  report below.  Has anyone else encountered this?  If so, have you  figured out a workaround?  It's pretty annoying, making the tool I'm  working on really difficult to manage.
    ******BUG******
After performing a publish preview, fl.getDocumentDOM().selection  reports an incorrect selection of raw shapes.
    Steps to reproduce bug:
    1. Create a JSFL command with the following contents:
    doc = fl.getDocumentDOM();
    fl.trace("there are " + doc.selection.length + " items selected");
    2. Start the authoring environment fresh, with a new document.
    3. Draw several shapes on the stage, not touching each other, all in  the same frame and layer.
    4. Select one of those shapes but leave the others unselected.
    5. Run the previously created JSFL command.  It will send the following  text to the output panel, as one would expect:
    "there are 1 items selected"
    6. Do a publish preview (either Flash or HTML).
    7. When it comes up, close the preview window.
    8. Deselect all and then select one of the shapes (again, keeping the  others unselected).
    9. Run the JSFL command again.  This time, it will say that there are n  items selected (where n is the number of shapes you drew in step 3).   So if you drew three shapes, it will print out the following:
    there are 3 items selected
Note that this result will be the same even if you go to a different  document, do a publish preview on that document, then return to the  original.  It seems that simply doing a publish preview alters Flash's  state to report the selection incorrectly.
Results: The JSFL command reports that all the shapes are selected,  despite the fact that only one of them is.  The only way I've found to  get Flash back to its normal behavior is to restart the authoring  environment.
Expected results: In the steps above, the JSFL command should always  print out that there is one element selected.  There's no reason that  doing a publish preview should change that.

When selected all shapes in selection are treated as one. You can see it if you run this script with selected multiple shapes:
    fl.trace( fl.getDocumentDOM().selection[0].contours.length );
It will output you twise bigger number then selected shapes (because each Shape has two contours - one clockwise, other counterclockwise).
Of course this. implementation is strange for me too. Thats how i found your post

How do I select a photo in Acrobat Reader XI and then save as JPG?

If the quality of the image is not that important to you you can always
take a screenshot of the page and then crop it in some photo editing
application. Also, you can use the free trial version of Acrobat for 30
    days to do it...
