Selecting Burning Tab In Advanced Preferences

Greetings!
When I select the 'Burning' Tab in 'Advanced' preferences, my PC locks up and this lasts for 20 minutes plus. The only option is to ctrl alt delete and force quit the iTunes app. I am selecting this tab because my iTunes 7.4.1 will not burn CD's. I had this problem in the past and corrected it by selecting a slower burn rate from the menu in this tab. How can I access this in preferences without iTunes freezing? Any help would be enourmously appreciated!

The Import settings button has moved in iTunes 8 to iTunes prefs -> General.
Click the *Import settings* button.
Set it as you want
When you right click a song, you can select *Create xxx version*, where xxx is what you have set in the *Import settings*.

Thank you SO much!!! This is Exactly the problem I was having. I have spent untold hours in the last couple of days trying to resolve not only iTunes freezing up, but my network connectivity went bust as well. I like Blink so I'm undecided about whether to uninstall it yet, so I just disabled all of its firewall settings, and presto!... I can not only get my CD/DVD player to read and burn CD's, but iTunes and my computer remain functional. I got my computer to reconnect to the internet by doing a System Restore at a point prior to my trying to burn a CD. Thanks again so much. You saved my entire week!

How to fix freeze/lock ups when opening Burn tab under iTunes Preferences

Played around the past few nights with two PC's with the same problem after upgrading to iTunes 6.0. Would open burn tab under preferences and promptly lock up iTunes. Thought it was a driver problem, etc... Thanks to Toonz, here is what solved it simply for me on both PC's:
Run iTunes Help, CD Diagnostics, Run "CD diagnostics" and save output file from CD diagnostics somewhere on your PC (not even sure it's necessary to save file) and you should be able to view your burner tab and the CD/DVD drives preferences. Seems that iTunes CD diagnostics file gets corrupted, and needs updating after updating iTunes.

ITunes freezes if I Click burn or burn tab in preferences

Whenever I click burn or the burn tab under advance in preferences iTunes freezes and I have to use the task manager to close and re-boot. I am able to import without a problem at all. Also, when I tried to do the CD-Diagnostics test, it froze too. I am not sure where to go next as I have tried re-installing multiple times.

(2) THE REASON I AM USING THIS THREAD YOU POPASS (NO NOT A MISS SPELLING) PUNK. IS BECAUSE I AM NEW TO ITUNES I FIGURED THEIR MIGHT BE SOME PEOPLE THAT WORKED FOR ITUNES TO LATCH ON AND FIGURE THIS OUT, BUT IT IS OBVIOUS YOU DO NOT KNOW HOW TO FIX IT. IF YOU DID YOU WOULD HAVE JUMPED RIGHT ON IT.
I CAN DO ANYTHING I WANT AS LONG AS I HAVE A BLANK CD IN BAY 2 BEFORE I OPEN ITUNES. WITH OUT A BLANK IN TRAY 2 AS SOON AS I CLICK EDIT, PREFERENCE, BURNING ADVANCE TAB THEN BURN MY MACHINE LOCKS UP ONLY IN ITUNES AND DRIVE 2 IS ALSO LOCKED UP IT WILL NOT EJECT CD OR ANYTHING. AS WILL CLICKING BURN IN THE UPPER RIGHT CORNER OF ITUNES I CAN STILL DO OTHER FUNCTIONS ON THE COMPUTER, BUT TO GET THE DRIVE BACK OR TO CLOSE ITUNES I HALF NO CHOICE BUT TO POWER MY MACHINE DOWN. YES THE PROBLEM IS PROBABLY CONFLICTING SOFTWARE THAT I TUNES DID NOT DO AS THOROUGH OF A JOB AS THE SHOULD HAVE BEFORE THEY RELEASED THEIR SOFTWARE.
I ONLY CAN SAY TO Vicasey TO TRY AND PUT A BLANK CD IN THE DRIVE 2 AND TRY IT. IF ITUNES STILL LOCKS UP THEN CLOSE EVERYTHING OUT IN THE SYS TRAY EITHER THROUGH THE START, MSCONFIG OR JUST CLOSING EACH ITEM OUT ONE AT A TIME TO FIND OUT WITCH SOFTWARE IS CONFLICTING, OR ITUNES AGAIN NEEDS TO DO THEIR JOB AND PUT OUT A UPDATE FOR THE DRIVE'S WE ARE USING SO THEIR SOFTWARE WILL WORK LIKE IT SHOULD BEFORE THE RELEASED THEIR CRAP.

Keith nailed the title explanation, iTunes sends some information to a database which checks "fingerprints" of your song against what it has on record. Once you can mount your disc, you can send the information about your specific album to gracenote through iTunes (it's likely under the Advanced menu, but look around for the option to submit info).
as for your CDs not working, its possible you got a bad run of discs, it does happen ocasionally. if you can get another batch (and especially brand) of CD to try you may find that that one works.

Itunes freezes on Burning tab access

When i go to the preferences option under edit, and then select the advanced tab everything works fine. But when i click on the Burning tab my itunes freezes up and i have to log out using the task manager. For as long as i can remember it has always been slow to work but now it just doesn't work at all. I ran out of ideas to fix it. Any advice would be appreciated.

The upper / lower filters in your registry is where it has the queue of CD drivers and the order that it loads them into Windows when you boot. And the order that all CD commands go through the system — all CD commands are passed from driver to driver in this order until it find the driver that wants the command. It's possible to get old, out of date drivers here and have problems with bugs in these drivers because the iTunes CD commands will go through them first on the way to its CD driver. For example, in your case, that AFS2K driver is from a company called Oak Technology that has been out of the CD driver business for years and years. I'm suspicious of that driver in your queue.
Your other two drivers, Pxhelp20 is Sonic Solutions and they're good, I seldom see a problem with them, and GEARAspiWDM is the iTunes CD driver.
So, let's try a quick experiment to see if that's the problem.
On the start menu, click on "run". in the space it provides enter "regedit" without the quotes. This will open the registry editor.
Find the heading HKEYLOCALMACHINE. Click on it.
Find the heading SYSTEM inside it. Click on it.
Find the heading CurrentControlSet. Click
Find the heading Control. Click
Find the heading Class. Click
Find the heading that begins {4D36E965- Click
Go up to the Registry menu and select "Export Registry File... command. Make sure the "Selected Branch" radio button is checked and save that off somewhere that you can find it.
Delete the key named LowerFilter. This will temporarily remove both the Sonic Solutions and the Oak Technologies drivers, but we're going to put them back after the experiment.
Then reboot, and see what iTunes does.
To get the system back to its previous state. Run Regedit again and use the Registry menu -> Import Registry File... command and select the file that you saved off in the first section.

How to Enable Payment Terms in the Advanced Preferences?

We are working on JDE E1 8.12 release, We have a problem that sales order preferences setup is not giving the required result. In the setup we linked Item Group (SRP1) and Customer with payment term. Output of this setup is have different payment terms in SO details (F4211). Right now system is taking same SO header (F4201) payment term. I checked all the setup is okay....can anyone help me to solve this problem.
I've done the following :
- Activate the advanced preference schedule ADVPREF in constants
- Set up the advanced preference definition DETAILS with a preference hierarchy of PH and type of advanced preference 02
- Set up the detail for an Item Group and Customer
- Activate preference profiling in P4210 on Preferences tab.
I had a issue - missing data columns with P4072 (Advanced Preferences Detail Revisions). I already could add a preference line via P40711 (Preference Values Maintenance) and I could add values, payment terms,but still is not giving the required result

You can go for
1)MASS t code
2) LSMW (by recording)
3)BDC (by recording)
and the most easiest way is by doing the MASS tcode
goto MASS and enter the object type as BUS2032
execute now select the sales order haeader data and execute and now enter the sales doc from and to range and execute now all the sales dox will be displayed
and from the menu click on select fields and select the terms of payment
now select the terms of payment row and enter the new values and click on carry out new changes

No burn tab in my itunes

If I insert a blank cd I get the pop-up..so it's obviously reading my disc player.. but there is no burn tab at the bottom of iTunes. No burn tab in preferences and no burn selection if right clicking on the album to be burned.

Anyone know why this is?

As you can see from the pictures.. that is a playlist as far as I know and everything is checked. the pictures also show that I did right click it. There are absolutely no burn settings and no burn options available. I can burn fine from other programs like winamp.. I just don't want to have to go through the hassle of reorganizing everything in winamp like I already have it organized on i-Tunes. I have no problem importing cd's so connectivity isn't the problem.
If I'm doing something wrong please post a picture of what your burn settings look like so I have something to compare to.

ITunes 8 Missing Features In Advanced Preferences!?

After installing iTunes 8 I noticed that I can no longer "see" the "General" "Importing" and "Burning" tabs usually listed under the "Advanced" tab!!??
If you have noticed the same thing, were you able to find a fix?

Documentation of changes is one of Apple's primary weak spots. That's why one of the first things I do with any new version of an Apple application is peruse the preferences, just to identify such undocumented changes. No doubt many of the changes made in iTunes 8 are due to customer suggestions, some of which have been made in the forums many times over the years, but it certainly would be nice if there was a summary document when common preferences and commands move.

I see no burning TAB

i went to my iTunes preferances and i see no tab called "BURNING"
i added a few songs to my library
and i wantd to TEST burning to cd just to make sure i can do it before i start purchasing songs from the store
the help section says the following but i have no tab called BURNING

4. Select "Audio CD" as the disc format.

When you have the playlist open that you want to burn, look in the lower right-hand corner, there's a "burn disc" button. You push this and you should be good to go.
(This button location has changed from previous iTunes versions so it's confusing.)

Missing "Arrangement" tab in Display preferences

Hi all, I hope this topic hasn't been discussed before, but I did search fo it and didn't find anything. I'm trying to display my "presenter display" content on my MBP (15") screen when using Keynote, and I take it the way to do that is to have the display set to "dual display" mode using the arrangement tab in display preferences. Problem is, I DON'T have any arrangements tab in my disp. preferenecs, I have just two tabs, Display, and Color.. I have the ATI Radion X1600 chip with 128MB VRAM if that's any use. thanks in advance....

You need to have the external display connected for the "Arrangements" tab to appear. You then, simply, drag the red strip to the left, right or top if you are in extended mode to arrange the displays.

Click on DSCF0586 and then navigate to the PSE 11 application and select it.
Be sure to select the right PSE 11 file, the one in the Support Files folder:

"Select new tabs as they are created"

I don't want new tabs to be "focused" on when I create them, meaning, when I make a new tab, I do not want Safari to then "focus" on that new tab, I would rather I stay at the page I am currently on until I want to go to that tab. I thought that unchecking the preference "Select new tabs as they are created" would do that, but it doesn't.
Could someone inform me what that preference actually does?

That preference works for me. How about unchecking the tabbed browsing setting entirely, then close Safari, open it again, and change your setting again. Maybe that is what is needed.

Currently selecting one tab will bring it to focus. I have tried to command select as well as control select.
