Selecting frames in a stack...

I understand that when you have a stack of frames on top of each other you can cycle through them by Command Clicking on the Mac. But is it only possible to move a selected frame that is buried beneath a load of other frames by clicking and dragging the center point of the selected frame?
If I am zoomed in very close, the center point might be a long way from my current viewing area and I'd have to go and find it. I realize that I can Cmd Click through and if I know that my desired frame is next in the stack I can keep my mouse button pressed and be able to move the frame, but that could take one or two cycles of the stack in order to determine when my required frame will next be selected. If I Cmd Click down to my required frame so that it's selected, Cmd Clicking again will select the frame below that and single clicking will select the frame at the top of the stack.
Is this how it works or am I not quite understanding a selection principle here?

Thanks for the advice. I do already use the nudge feature with the arrow keys but as recommended I do already prefer to use layers. This was really a very small problem that had been bothering me for some time. I'm using CS3 but I seem to recall that way back in version CS1 or maybe even v2.0 I think it was possible to click through the stack, select the item, release the mouse, then click again to move it around. I might be mistaken and I might even be remembering the bad old days of using another DTP program that I won't mention here (but it begins with Q). Am I right in my memory or has ID always operated in the way it does now?
Personally I would prefer to be able to Cmd Click through the stack and once the item was selected then be able to click again and move it around. Do you think it's possible for a scripting expert to write a script for this command to work? It sounds to me like a core issue for the bods at Adobe to implement but it might only be for me!

PS. The Cmd Shift clicking doesn't enable to the ability to click through the stack as it just selects and then deselects the top frame. No combination of keys and modifiers could get that to work.

If I understand correctly, it's possible to view the diagram and some specific sequence-frame, but when you try to select a different frame, the error occurrs(?) In this case you could try mass-compiling all the VIs associated with the application then try again to view/edit the in-accessable frame. NOTE: when mass compiling, any "broken" VIs will be listed! Alternatively, if you know some or all of the VIs and typedefs in the inaccessable frame(s), try opening them individually, in the hope of narrowing the problem. It's possible that the VI is hopelessly corrupt! fortunately it still works!
... As a last resort, you might try "hiding" all the typedefs associated with this VI before you open it (the VI will open-up broken). It sounds to me like there's some mis-handled typedef descrepancy/ambiguity and you may be able to prevent LabVIEW from trying to resolve the descrepancy by hiding the data-type/typedef. I'd MAKE A BACKUP copy before doing anything!

How to find the start and end duration of "Selected frames" from Video using didFinishPickingMediaWithInfo?

I am doing slow motion in audio and video using AVFoundation(for Video) and Dirac(Audio). As part of it, i will show the video as frames in which the user will select the frames to do slow motion. Eg: 5-6 min of 10 min video.
I have to show the users two kinds of videos 1. through the video recorder from my application itself. 2. from the gallery.
Case1: No problem Now,i can record the videos though my video recorder and show the videos as frames to the user to select. Once the user selects some frames(Eg: 5 to 6 min of 10 min recorded video), using the below code, i am able to find the start/end duration of the selected frames or video.

Anyone remember k-tool? I need a way to select frames.

I think the name was k-tool, it was basically a free little macro program that someone created that sat in the taskbar and let one select frames/clips with the keyboard, among other things that can only be done with the mouse. I'm trying to delete every other frame and its very hard to do with the mouse so please post a link to it if it still exists.

Try using the Strobe Light effect to achieve, well, the strobe look. Drop it on your clip and try the following settings, assuming 60i video:
Strobe Color: Black, or whatever you want
Blend with Original: adjust to taste; shows some of the original video if >0%
Strobe Duration (secs): 0.0333333 (divide your desired "on" frame duration by the frame rate of your video; in this case 1 frame on, 1 frame off is 1/30)
Strobe Period (secs): 0.0666666 (multiply the Strobe Duration by 2 to cycle the strobe on/off in even increments)
Random Strobe Probability: adjust to taste; adding some will make the effect look less mechanical
Strobe: Operate on Color only if you want the Strobe Color above used, or set to Transparent if you want to overlay over a background (basically toggles alpha channel on and off)
Strobe Operator: no idea, play with until it works for you!
If this is the effect you're going for, this will save you a ton of work, and be much flexible--plus you can turn it off if it's not what you want!

There are two possible answers:
1. If you use the getGraphics() in your event dispatching code, then the rectangle disappears because the component you paint on gets repainted, and it has no idea about your rectangle it should paint. The painting routine should ALWAYS be written in paintComponent(Graphics gr) method. (I wish they made the getGraphics() method protected).
2. If you paint it in the write way, it might disappear because the components that it overlaps might cover it.
Now a fix:
Because you need to paint on TOP of everything in the JPanel, you can either:
1. The dirty way: overwrite the paint(Graphics gr) method of your JPanel, first call super.paint(gr) then paint the rectangle.
2. A proper way: Add a non-opaque JPanel on top of you JLayeredPane (similar to GlassPane), and paint the rectangle on it (in it's paintComponent method).

You're probably doing some getGraphics() drawing which is usually wrong. If a component gets repainted by the system it loses all the information
Now to the question:
Your rectangle disappears beacause the Components that are overlapping it

Is there a way to automatically jump to a certain frame in a stacked sequence?

I am working with stacked sequence structures. I would like to have a condition in some of the frames, such that if the condition is false, the sequence proceeds normally, and if the condition is true, the sequence jumps to a certain frame. Is this possible?

Duplicate object into multiple selected frame

I’m looking for a script that will duplicate the selected object or the content of the clipboard into multiple selected layers inside a document.
I have not find any discussions around this, but I’m asking if anyone have already seen such script.

1. Should work with a single object, multiple objects, group
2. Should alert a warning, if you select nothing or select some text
3. Will not honor, if layers are hidden or locked

Applying effects to selective frames in a video clip

Question: What is the best way to add a mask only to certain frames in clips of a sequence on Premier Pro CC using After Effects (i.e., a single frame mode)?
I am trying to fix a keyed video, but only need to fix frames here and there and do not want to animate it.
In the past, I have used the following methodology:
SUMMARY: Remove, modify, render, export, and then re-insert each frame that needs to be fixed (one by one) starting in Premiere Pro (CS5, CS6, or CC) and using After Effects (CS5, CS6, or CC) using the following steps:
1) Open a timeline with the entire video sequence
2) Cut the frame that needs to be fixed out of the timeline sequence, basically leaving a one frame hole
3) Apply the mask, filter, or other effect to the frame within After Effects
4) Export the modified frame in the format of the original sequence (recommended) as a new one frame clip
5) Import the result back into your open Premiere project
6) Drop the imported one frame clip back into the original sequence in the spot where it was cut from
7) Repeat for each frame
8) Finally, re-export the entire project to the final desired format.
There has to be an easier way than this.
NOTE: The cross-launch function between Premiere Pro (PPro) and After Effects (AE), where a new AE project is opened by selecting this option in a PPro project/sequence, is very confusing and awkward to use, and has never been useful for me when doing other operations such as Color Channel modifications or channel replacement/swapping. So unless there is something within this function that will do the job, and then re-create the new video export faster, then I have ruled using this out.

If you just have a few frames to mask then start your mask in a safe spot just start your mask where you need it to work, animate the mask for the few frames you need, then, when the mask is no longer needed move forward one frame and move the mask clear off the shot. Copy the mask keyframe, move to the first keyframe for that mask and then back one more frame and paste. Your mask will now be off the shot completely, jump into position when needed, then jump back off the shot. Problem solved without splitting layers or doing anything else funky with the shot.
In many cases, if you need a lot of masking to fix a key you can solve the problem with another instance of your keyed (Keylight) on a duplicate layer and then use that copy as a track matte for the first. I do this all the time. Sometimes I'll have as many as 4 or 5 copies of the footage, all keyed differently removing different parts of the background, each with a different garbage matte, and then combining them all using track matte to produce the final plate for compositing.

Does FCE/FCP have a bug in selecting frames?

I am discovering that when I need to go down to the frame level and edit the cut precisely (i.e., cut precisely on an exact frame -- who doesn't?!) that FCE sometimes misses out on a frame by one. Either too early by one frame or too late. And it's hard to judge. I just have to play back the edited cut to see what happened and then it's a hassle trying to jiggle just one frame.
Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong? Editing in NTSC DV in the sequence.
(By the way, is there a method where I can just COPY one frame, and PASTE the same frame back?)

Thanks for the Freeze Frame tip.
I am already using arrow keys. It just seems not to be selecting the right frame for cutting.
So, my routine:
Move to the part where I want to cut, using mouse, and then arrow keys.
I would then use "m" to set a marker.
Then I would select the footage and snap it to the marker.
I sometimes set ins and outs on the sequence and Replace footage like that, but often use the marker method above.
That is where I am getting single-frame errors, either one frame too early or too late.
Maybe a question is: Do I set the marker at the end of the footage before the cut, or the first frame of the footage that I am replacing?
Any suggestions appreciated.

Selecting items in a frame without selecting frame (HTML)

and i'd like to be able to tab elements in those frames without passing the focus to a frame in whole/
i tried to set a property <frame tabindex=-1> but
in this case all the frame becomes inaccesisble
if this propery isn't set i can tab until a whole frame becomes selected - that is a birder around it appeares///
what should i do then????

Selecting images in a stack v1.0

is there a shortcut to 'select all' in a particluar stack, then choose develop module to work on this selection only?

If you click on the white square on the stack, (the square showing the total number of images in the stack), the stack will expand and all images will be selected.
Now press D to go to develop and use Auto Sync to work on all images at once.
(Command click on the Sync button in the right hand panel in Develop to change the state to Auto Sync).

Can't select frame in Actions panel

Hello people,
For some reason, I can't select the current Frame in my actions panel. Therefore, all actionscript ends up in Frame 1.
Anyone ever had this problem before? And, if so, how did you resolve it?

Thanks, but I did do that, of course. I click F6, make a keyframe, then I put some actionscript in my actions panel. But the little a won't appear in the keyframe, and my actionscript shows up as belonging to every frame in the timeline, not my keyframe.
I did something wrong in the lower left hand of my actions panel; where it says "Current Selection", etc. But I don't know what. In any new document I open, this lower left hand part will immediately show the number of the frame I put my keyframe on, but in this document, not so much.
Any idea? I guess I'll move my stuff over to a new document. Which is a bit bother some.
