  • Need Help, Elements keeps crashing when I select the "Organize" option

    Hey Everyone,
Hopefully someone here can help me out because the customer support has not been very helpful at figuring this out.
    I am running Windows 7.
I purchased Adobe Premiere Elements and Photoshop at my local Best Buy, and then installed them onto my computer. When I click to open up Premiere Elements I get the a window that pops open, and it has 3 different options:
    Organize
    New Project
Edit Project (or something along those lines. I forget the exact title of this option).
If I choose New Project or Edit project everything is fine, and the program opens up for me and I can start working on my videos.
Whenever I select Organize, the program crashes and a crash report is generated. I am basically unable to access the program through the Organize option because it crashed and then shuts down.
The same thing happens with Adobe Photoshop when I click on the Organize option there. So far the customer support guys on line have not been able to give me any instructions that have worked to fix it.
I was hoping maybe one of you out there had a similar problem when you first started running this program and might be able to help me out. Any help will be appreciated.
    Thank You,
    Gerry

There can be many reasons for Organizer crash.Try the troubleshooting steps mentioned in: http://www.johnrellis.com/psedbtool/photoshop-elements-faq.htm#_Troubleshooting_Organizer_ crashes

  • Vodaphone dongle causes panic crash. Help please?

It is essential for me to use a Vodaphone dongle for certain work purposes. After installing Snow Leopard, dongle caused panic crash in my MacBook Pro. 4 panic crashes and reports to Apple later ... alert message appears as follows.
    " System/Library/Extensions/USBExpressCard can't wake_Huawei.kext"
Check out support and hit on Welcome Wake Up issues. More like Unwelcome! Is this the problem?
Have reinstalled Leopard since this dongle is the only way to connect at work.
    Any ideas?

    Hi everyone
Vodafone really have not excelled here but today tracked down a solution using the GlobeTrotter application to intall the right modem driver (not sure but I think this was the problem causing kernel panics)
Here is how to do it...
    1. Make sure you delete any extension from the System/Library/Extensions folder containing the word "Huawei" in the file name
    2. Restart
    3. Download latest version of Vodafone Mobile Connect (which by itself will still cause kernel panic if you install and then plug dongle in and install.
    4. Download latest version of GlobeTrotter Connect (http://support.option.com/att/index.php?title=GT%20Connect%20for%20Mac%2010.4.11 ,%2010.5.x%20and%2010.6.x%20and%20Manual&action=module20/index)
    and install it.
If asked to confirm new network preferences do so - this I think installs the updated modem driver which I think was the source of the kernel panic previously.
    5. Then insert USB modem - should not cause kernel panic!
    6. Then run the Vodafone Mobile Connect software and press Activate
It works and does not crash!!
    Good luck!

  • I have files that freeze my programs whenever I try to open ANY file. Is there a way to find the exact files causing the crash?

I have files that are freezing my programs (adobe; after effect and photoshop, as well as maxon cinema 4d). Whenever I try to import ANY file from within the program it doen't even let me select the file I need before freezing. I have moved all files off my desktop and into my dropbox, and it now allows me to import files/search for files on the desktop but NOT dropbox, once I go to dropbox it freezes again. I am assuming there are files within dropbox now that are crashing my programs. The problem is I have a lot of files in there and would like to remove the corrupt ones so that I can use my programs without freezing. Is there a way to find the exact files causing the crash?
This has happened a couple of times and each time I have to move all my files off my desktop, so there must be a type of file doing this, I just don't know what files they are.
Mac Book Pro 15" running OSX 10.9
Processor  2.3 GHz Intel Core i7
    Memory  16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics  Intel Iris Pro 1024 MB
ANY help would be greatly appreciated! It is making it really hard to get work done. THANKS!

This error sounds to me like you have/had BootCamp Windows installed and then removed, posible ?
If so (and even if not so), try restating your MBA while holding down the alt/option-key until you get to the Boot Selection Screen.
    Choose to boot OSX.
Once in OSX go to System Preferences then Startup Volume and set your OSX to be the default.
    Hope it helps

  • Serious bug in LabView 8.5 Formula Node

    Hello,
Thought I would warn my fellow LabView programmers about a serious error in the Formula Node:
The problem may be encountered by anyone running a non-us LabView installation:
I am located in Norway, and over here we use the comma (,) as the separator in floating point numbers: So, the use 3.14 is written like 3,14.
The problem is that the Formula Node accepts both formats, but only the US Notation is interpreted correctly !
    Example:
    float64 x1, x2;
    x1 = 3.14;    // Interpreted Correctly !
x2 = 3,14;     // Interpreted as 3: One might say this leads to problems.......

Of course it is a Bug:  **Any** code that **any** compiler does not recognize, should be flagged with an error message ! I have written my share of compilers myself, and they all flag down code that is not accepted as an error.
Failing to do so may cause serious, expensive and very hard to trace errors.
Sorry, but I would expect that the NI team in their 20. year of LabView development is capable of better than this.
Sorry to disappoint you! It's not a bug since that statement is absolutely valid albeit useless in that context.
The Formula Node since LabVIEW 7 supports C syntax except some advanced features such as pointers. In C the comma in expressions is the sequence operator meaning it separates expressions that will be executed from left to right and the last one will actually be the result of the entire sequence expression. This is often used for the initilizer expression inside the for statement, to initilize several variables to a start value.
And the NI team really is a lot better than you think. The online help may be a bit short about the reasons why the comma is not supported as decimal point but there have been many people thinking about this before it was made like that. It was either C syntax support without localized decimal point or some homegrown syntax with localized decimal point and they went for the first.

  • How to identify cause of crashes in Console

Hi. My MacBook Pro has locked up several times in the last few days. Is there a way I can look in Console (or somewhere else) to identify the cause of each crash?
I am not very familiar with Console. There is a CrashReporter file in Console, but it is empty. When I peruse the "All Messages" listing, it is mostly a bunch of gibberish to me. Any ideas what specifically to look, for example, for after I have performed a Force Quit on an application?
    Thank you

Go to developer.apple.com and register for a free membership. Then you can search for document number TN2123 that documents the CrashReporter. I'm afraid, however, that it won't be of much help. It's intended to be used in conjunction with a debugger to trace a problem in a program. Rarely will one see anything in a crash report that will prove helpful.
However, the console log can tell you what caused a lockup or at least what the last thing was that logged an entry before the lockup. You can also provide a more complete description of what exactly was going on when the machine locked up along with any additional information such as error messages. The CrashReporter will at least tell you what process crashed and the timestamp. Then use the timestamp to investigate what's entered in the console log.
Frequent crashes (not kernel panics) of programs that have not normally exhibited a problem may be caused by corrupted preference files or cache files. They can also be caused by font problems - corrupted fonts or duplicate fonts. If you've added fonts to your system then you might check that.
If specific applications are causing the crash and you've already tossed their preference files and any associated cache files but they are still acting up, then consider uninstalling them and then reinstalling. Be sure to fully uninstall the application:
    Uninstalling Software: The Basics
Most OS X applications are completely self-contained "packages" that can be uninstalled by simply dragging the application to the Trash. Applications may create preference files that are stored in the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder. Although they do nothing once you delete the associated application, they do take up some disk space. If you want you can look for them in the above location and delete them, too.
Some applications may install an uninstaller program that can be used to remove the application. In some cases the uninstaller may be part of the application's installer, and is invoked by clicking on a Customize button that will appear during the install process.
Some applications may install components in the /Home/Library/Applications Support/ folder. You can also check there to see if the application has created a folder. You can also delete the folder that's in the Applications Support folder. Again, they don't do anything but take up disk space once the application is trashed.
Some applications may install a startupitem or a Log In item. Startupitems are usually installed in the /Library/StartupItems/ folder and less often in the /Home/Library/StartupItems/ folder. Log In Items are set in the Accounts preferences. Open System Preferences, click on the Accounts icon, then click on the LogIn Items tab. Locate the item in the list for the application you want to remove and click on the "-" button to delete it from the list.
Some software use startup daemons or agents that are a new feature of the OS. Look for them in /Library/LaunchAgents/ and /Library/LaunchDaemons/ or in /Home/Library/LaunchAgents/.
If an application installs any other files the best way to track them down is to do a Finder search using the application name or the developer name as the search term. Unfortunately Spotlight will not look in certain folders by default. You can modify Spotlight's behavior or use a third-party search utility, Easy Find, instead. Download Easy Find at VersionTracker or MacUpdate.
Some applications install a receipt in the /Library/Receipts/ folder. Usually with the same name as the program or the developer. The item generally has a ".pkg" extension. Be sure you also delete this item as some programs use it to determine if it's already installed.
There are many utilities that can uninstall applications. Here is a selection:
    AppZapper
    Automaton
    Hazel
    CleanApp
    Yank
    SuperPop
    Uninstaller
    Spring Cleaning
Look for them at VersionTracker or MacUpdate.
For more information visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on removing software.
It also doesn't hurt to repair your hard drive and permissions:
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.

  • Need help debugging desktop crashes

    Hi all,
I've started having trouble with random desktop crashes. It only happens occasionally (twice in the past couple of weeks), but my screens black out (no signal). The desktop is still powered on, but I can't ssh to it. I'm pretty sure I wasn't doing anything specific either time to cause the crash.
Unfortunately, I don't have much more information (sorry!). I've been told on the IRC to look at dmesg, the output of which I've pasted below, but I can't really make head nor tail of it.
Ask me and I'll post any other logs/command output that might help.

Is this the log of a failed boot or of a successful one? If it is a successful one, please provide the log of a failed boot. This log seems to say that there are 3 displays detected, so I think this is a normal boot.
What I would like to see is if the failed boot starts X or not. That is, assuming you use X. When the boot fails, do you see messages on your screen before it goes black?

  • Recent windows 7 updates caused serious conflicts??

I have two NI PCIe-1433 boards and the NI Max v5.4 installed. Recent win 7 (64 bit) automatic updates, within the last 10 days seemed to cause serious problems. Win 7 couldn't boot any more. Sometimes computer turns on and off by itself before the windows logo shows up. Sometimes it crashes before I can login.
I did a fresh reinstallation of win 7. The same problem happened after some automatic updates. I can boot and use windows 7 if I unplug both NI cards. This makes me think the problem is in NI driver/card. I'm reporting it here to see if anybody experiences similar things.
Earlier this year Win 7 automatic updates caused a problem with my Canon printer/scanner. Canon supplied scan software still does not work today.

    Hi Jeremy
Thank you for responding. I do not know which update. I know it's due to some update(s) that happened recently.
After I reinstalled the fresh Windows 7 (64 bit), I installed NI IMAQ software. I was able to use both boards to acquire images at that point. However Windows 7 kept updating itself. Later the same problem happened again.
After unplugging both boards, I have been using the computer for 2 days without a problem. My computer's power supply is 650W. Does the boards require a lot of power?

  • Help, Firefox keeps crashing. Firefox version 20.0, how do I fix this?

Hi, I had Firefox version 19.0, and it occurred an error which caused Firefox to crash. I followed the troubleshot steps, and started it up on Safe mode, and I got a message saying "The connection has timed out".
I browsed the forums for a while for solutions, and I started by disabling my add-on apps. This did not solve the problem. I've read here that it could be malware that is causing this problem, but neither malware bytes, Microsoft security, or Norton found the cause, any virus, spyware, or malware. After this I read about certain .dll files that could be causing all sorts of issues, but after searching manually for these files, they did not appear in my computer, such as datamgr.dll, like this it was suggested in a thread a few days ago.
I went ahead and re-installed firefox, same error occurred. Then I opted for trying the 20.0 beta. It did not help either
These are the latest crash reports I have got

I am not sure what could be causing this, please help.

hello, this crash is related to your graphics hardware & a recent windows update. please start firefox in safemode (by pressing the shift-key while it is launching) & go to ''firefox > options > advanced > general'' & disable hardware acceleration.

  • Every time I right click on an image and select Download image Firefox crashes . I have reinstalled; uninstalled and deleted folders and then reinstalled; added

Every time I right click on an image and select Download image Firefox crashes . I have reinstalled; uninstalled and deleted folders and then reinstalled; added no plugins; checked I can DL the same images in IE-works good.I use Win7 pro and it works in other profiles in Windows 7. I created a new profile in Windows and that worked for about 2 months and now that has gone the same way as my admin profile has done. I deleted the sqlite download file-still same prob..Please help. I use Firefox 13.0.1

    That sounds very frustrating.
By the way, does it say "Download image" or "Save Image As"? Just checking whether you have an add-on downloader in the mix that might be relevant. If you do have an add-on, try using the built-in command.
Do you also crash if you save from here:
right-click page > View Page Info > Media tab > (select image) > Save As
I assume you have seen this article and tried these things: [[What to do if you can't download or save files]].
Have you tried the new Reset feature in Firefox 13? This duplicates certain key data from your active settings folder into a new one, bypassing some add-ons and custom settings. Your plugins will still be active, but could be disabled manually if you like.
More information in this article: [[Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems]].
If the new settings folder has the same problem, you can switch back if you like using Firefox's Profile Manager.
    Does it make any difference?

  • Use of discrete graphics causes hard crash - (MacBook Pro 2010 with ML 10.8.2/3)

I have a client with a Mid-2010 MacBook Pro. He was having crashes with Lion so I upgraded him to Mountain Lion 10.8.2. The crashes did not go away.
I troubleshooted and with the help of gfxCardStatus noticed that every time his machine went to use the discrete graphcis he got the gray hard crash screen and system had to restart. Back then I tried a beta of 10.8.3 and it didn't help.
I noticed that if I created another user account (profile) it would not crash when the discrete graphics card was called upon.
So, I re-installed the OS (to 10.8.2), created a new profile and manually migrated pictures, documents, keychain, mail, movies, music and re-installed the relevant Applications. Everything was working fine and my client went on a trip to Europe and soon the crashes began again. Then he upgraded to 10.8.3 and the crashes got even more frequent (it seems 10.8.3 puts more applications on the discrete graphics list so it switches even more).
I am wondering what could have caused the crashes to begin. It was before he upgraded to 10.8.3. Some application or something he was using must have changed a setting or corrupted something to cause the crashing to begin. I haven't done this yet, but I'm sure if I create another user account it won't crash on it.
Any ideas where to turn my attention to see what is causing the shift from his working user account to a crash-causing one?
He has iLife, Office 2011, Final Cut Pro X, iPhoto Library Manager, VLC, Audacity, DropBox, FileMaker Pro 11, Flip4Mac Player, Fuze, GotoAssist, Handbrake, Skype, iSkySoft DVD Creator, iSkySoft Video Convertor, Onyx and Skype.
I know there are *MANY* others having problems with the automatic graphics card switching and it seems some are having more problems when gfxCardStatus is installed?

Take a copy of the article with you when you go for service. They need to run a SPECIAL diagnostic to decide whether you have this problem. Do not leave until they run the special diagnostic. The "overnight run" does not detect this problem.
If they confirm you have the problem, they will replace the graphics chip, which is part of the motherboard. be prepared to hand over your Mac for depot repair. (Your backups must be up-to-date).

  • Is there a way to track down the cause of crashes in SAFARI?

Not long ago I was able to eliminate one type of crash I had been having in SAFARI by following a suggestion made in this forum. Those crashes, however, were of the type that generated a 'crash report.' So they left a kind of 'paper trail' as to what was causing them.
More recently I have been having frequent crashes that don't result in such reports. These crashes occur apparently randomly when I mouseclick on a link. The spinning beach ball appears on-screen and never leaves.
Is there a way to find out exactly what is causing these crashes?
    Thanks.

    Hello Michael:
I have not yet seen a
good approach to using that information (short of
    deleting the account).
better search some yourself Barry <G>
if something runs fine in another account - one can isolate the cause to one of the plist files in the main acct Home/Library/Preferences/ or possibly an add-on in Home/Library/Internet Pug-Ins or ...Input Managers for example.
If there is the same problem in the new acct - you can discount anything with the main acct user library - plists, caches, plugins, input managers, the whole lot.
A useful tool is Console - found in Applications/Utilities/ keep it running while the 'problem' in question crops up & see if any messages pop up in either the system log or console log. Sometimes these will point straight at the problem area, other times no help at all.

  • Sticky Notes in a pdf file cause ie7 crashed.

This is a very interesting bug.
System version: Windows XP with SP3
    Adobe Reader Version: 9
    IE version: IE 7
    Files needed for testing:

a html file (note.html) which has a url link to note.pdf
    Action which causes the crash:
    1.       Open note.html in a new IE window
    2.       Click the link to open the note.pdf in a new window or a new tab, then close it
    3.       Click AGAIN the link to open the note.pdf in a new window or a new tab, then close it
Then you could see the error window popup, the ie7 browser crashed. This has been tested in 3 PCs.

  • KB3038314 causing IE crash

    hey all,
hopefully i have the right forum for this question.
the IE cumulative update for the past few months has been causing IE to crash on one of our internal websites.
the March update (3032359) has a documented issue with table-based websites (which our internal site is); this issue isn't documented for the April update (3038314), however it's still crashing IE on this website.
if i understand the cumulative updates correctly, they're a roll up of individual IE updates.  from what i can see, there's no way to uninstall these updates one by one.
my current theory is there's an offending update within the cumulative that's causing the crashing issue, but not sure how to isolate the offending update.
make sense?  any help is appreciated.
    thanks!

    Hi Matt,
    >>if i understand the cumulative updates correctly, they're a roll up of individual IE updates.  from what i can see, there's no way to uninstall these updates one by one.
Yes, your understanding is correct. Please try to remove this update.
If this issue is very urgent, you may contact Microsoft Customer Service and Support (CSS) via telephone so that a dedicated Support Professional can assist with your request.
To obtain the phone numbers for specific technology request please take a look at the web site listed below:
    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=fh;EN-US;OfferProPhone#faq607
Hope the issue will be resolved soon.
Steven Lee Please remember to mark the replies as answers if they help and unmark them if they provide no help. If you have feedback for TechNet Support, contact [email protected]
thanks for the response; is there a way to uninstall individual updates that are included in the cumulative?
it's likely that one of these updates is causing our issue, and until we determine the offending update, we'll likely continue to encounter this issue going forward with the cumulative updates.
i can contact Microsoft support, but if there's a way for me to uninstall each update manually, i can easily take the time to troubleshoot this on my own.
    any ideas?
    thanks!

While I can't help you, I have been having the same problems.
Regardless of the Adobe application I am using, Adobe Help crashes as soon as I launch it.
For me, this problem started after I ran the CS4 uninstaller. I had both Design Premium CS4 and CS5 installed at the same time.
I then removed CS4 using the uninstaller software, at which point CS5 needed to be reinstalled as necessary "parts" were removed when deleting CS4.
Since then, Adobe Help keeps quitting.
I'm also using a Mac Pro with 3GB RAM and OS X 10.6.4
