Selecting Lists/Grids From a Child Table
If I have a parent table "Patient" it has two product tables (Parent Table related 1 <--to--> Many Child Tables) and I make a screen for One Child Table so that it gives me a selection box for the parent table. I can already then
show on the screen properties of the patient from the table I selected. Can I also bring up a List or Grid of the Other Child Table based on the patient I selected?
I don't want to display something in the grid. I want to show all of the entries in that grid for a certain person. I want to grab the grid as a control showing all of the properties in a grid not showing them as individual labels or text etc....
I am not on that entity I am on the orders entity it is already related to the customer to do that to get customer data. The Customer entity/table is related to the allergies entity which is related to Medications to pull up the names of drugs the customer
is allergic too. I want to pull up the whole grid of allergies as a grid I solved this for now by making a single property on the patient table and grabbing all of the rows for a particular patient. then making them one field. I cannot however grab them as
a table and have the advantage of the UI of the grid or list functions.

I have an application where each customer might have multiple addresses and phone numbers which are stored in child tables. When I show the customer in a record on a screen I can place a Modal Window button on the screen which can be pushed at runtime
to display detail information for the particular customer parent table which works great. However, I would also like to display the data from the address and phone number child tables. Is there a way to do that? Or can I just launch a hole separate screen
which would automatically display the needed data for the particular customer? If yes, how?

The “add contactaddress” link does not show up on the right.
The contactaddress table is a child of the contact table.
The contact table is a child of the contactlink table.
And the contactlink table is a child of the person table.
I have it set up this way because the contact in the contact table may be a contact to multiple persons in the person table and I do not want to re-enter the contact info every time the contact is used.
In the list detail screen of the person table I can see the contactlink child collection so that I can see the name of the person in the contact table at runtime. However, the contactaddress collection is not related to the person table so it does not show
up on the right hand side of the design screen as an “add contactaddress”; nor is there “add contact” link.
What I would like to happen during runtime is that it is not necessary to switch screens from the person list detail screen to a contact list detail screen to see the addresses and phone numbers for the contact.
Is my setup unnecessarily convoluted? Is there a better way? Please see the two snapshots below.
Perhaps there is a way to call up a Detail screen from the List Detail at runtime?

Select MAX(BUDAT) from ztab (custom table) where... NOT work!
We use the following statement where BUDAT is one of the fields in our custom table ztab:
Select MAX(BUDAT) from ztab (custom table) where...
When activating the above code, get the following error:
"Unknown column name "MAX(BUDAT)". not determined until runtime, you cannot specify a field list."
How to resolve this problem to get a max value of the field BUDAT in custom table ztab (it's not an internal table)?

What table do you have in mind, what data does it hold, and why do you want alternate records?

Randomly selecting some rows from the database table
Hi can some one help me in selecting some rows from a database table which has around 90,000 rows.
Thanks.One thing you might try is the "sample" clause if you have 8i which is supposed to return a random percentage of the table. Say for example, you have a sequence number on your table as the pkey. Then you might try:
select * from <table_name> where pkey in(select pkey from <table_name> sample(10));
This should give you a random 10 percent of the rows in the table but I tried this once and the results seemed unpredictable. For example it returned a different number of rows each time even though the number of rows in the table didn't change.

İ have notified the SAP about this issue..they wrote me below note :
As SAP tables have no concept for NULL, we
have to restrict this condition to not allow excluding condition to be
used any more. But alternatively, you could use including to replace it.
Please check my last reply to see the detailed reason for it, and
this explaination is from our development colleagues.
For this note 1435772, you could also see why this error message
arises.
So, they said it is not possible in case of left outer join after those patches.
i just used include to replace that exluding condition.it takes little time but the problem is solving.

Based on this statement from you:
"i created a Z table, its a config table that stores some bussines rules, and an id counter, so in order to update that counter i need the last line of the ztable."
I have one additional solution which is the "text box" approach IF the 'id counter' mentioned above is a numeric data type.
If so, use an SQL function to get the highest value of ID_COUNTER.
Then simply add one to it to produce a new, unique, higher-order primary key.
See below:
data: l_id_counter like ztable-id_counter.
data: new_id_counter like ztable-id_counter.
select max( ID_COUNTER ) from ztable into l_id_counter.
new_id_counter = l_i_counter + 1.
Now new_id_counter will be the unique, primary key IF this is the only field in ZTABLE's primary key.
This will also GUARANTEE that your new record is built correctly. -

How to efficiently select random rows from a large table ?

The following code will select 5 rows out of a random set of rows from the emp (employee) table

where rownum <= 5my concern is that the inner select will cause a table scan in order to assign a random value to each row. This code when used against a large table can be a performance problem.
Is there an efficient way of selecting random rows from a table without having to do a table scan ? (I am new to Oracle, therefore it is possible that I am missing a very simple way to perform this task.)

I am working on a data export out of my BSO app using @JExport.
The problem is I need the default alias, alternate alias, data listed for all entities.
I can achieve the default alias by listing @ALIAS(@CURRMBR("Entity"))
How can I list the alternate alias?
Any ideas?

Master Child tables how to get the latest rows from both

Need some help with the sql. I have two tables Master & Child. In my Master table I have multiple rows for the same record and in the child table also multiple rows for the same master row how can I get the latest one's from both.
For example Data in my Master table looks like

I am able to populate all fields data from database table, using dynamic table creation.
eg,
SELECT * FROM (w_tabname) INTO TABLE <t_itab>.
where w_tabname is the table name given by the user, and t_itab is field symbol.
but some requirement is like that i need to pick up only few fields, <b>which user will give at the runtime.</b>
<b>I can</b> take those fields from file into any internal table,
but the problem is that instead of <b>select *</b>, i need to put selected the fields given by user.
i have tried with field symbol, it is not working (as per my knowledge.)
do i need to create any structures dynamically ?
Can anybody please help in this regards ?

Adding to the below code , you can use some more fields in the select stmt as below:-

PARAMETERS : p_field1 LIKE dd03l-fieldname,
P_field2 LIKE dd03l-fieldname,
p_table LIKE dd03l-tabname.
FIELD-SYMBOLS : <fs> TYPE STANDARD TABLE.
SELECT (p_field1) (p_field2) ( FROM (p_table) INTO TABLE <fs>.
Now p_field1 & p_field2 belong to the same table since you have give the user to enter only one table name.
This should work fine.

List rows with a certain value from a different table?

I'm trying to list certain rows from a different table. Similar to the filter feature, kind of like a report.
To be specific, I have 12 tables (Jan-Dec) with many entries each (as rows). Each row has a date, text and further data. Now I want to create an additional table that lists rows from the other tables that have a certain date.
I would like to just enter that date in a header row cell so I can make a quick query. Using LOOKUP only shows the first row of that date. Is that even possible?Hi papalapapp,
If you don't mind using a script, you're using Numbers 3, and all of your monthly tables are on the same sheet, then you could do something like this:
Copy-paste script to Script Editor
Enter date you want to filter on in the designated filterCell (here A1 of the Extract table). Make sure it is formatted exactly like the dates in the monthly tables.
Clear any existing values from the Extract table, and make sure there are enough blank rows.
Click the run button in Script Editor.
