Selecting Logic tracks via Keyboard

I want to use Logic live, my idea is to set up (for example) 20 different virtual instruments on 20 respecive tracks. is there a way fro my CME UF8 to simply scroll down or select any of those tracks to play the sound required?
really just wanna use my Macbook pro live as a sound module, any ideas?

I have been doing this live for about a year...My live template has 127 tracks
each one wired to a single cable switcher reading patch changes (I can't actually run 127 VIs or even half that however. I am sadly limited to a 1.67G PBG4 with
2G RAM since most of the softsynths I use are 3rd party AUs which are not Universal). If the UF8 has a keypad for patch changes, this a good way to go, since you get surefire random access to your sounds.
I should add that I use this to supplement a rompler, not replace one. It is not
reliable enough to stand on its own, and the meter is in the red before I can
get enough sounds and softsynths going to replace a modern workstation. But hopefully, the Intel changes that for the better...time will tell.

How to select Video Track Headers via hotkey??

I want to know how to select seperat tracks via the highlighted headers without having to waste time clicking them seperatel with a mouse to make a fast edit (such as CMD+K). No such info on the googles and the interweb.

I have set up Shortcut keys to Toggle all Video (1-9) and all Audio (1-9)
I use the numbers: 1 - 9 for Video and Shift 1- 9 for Audio.
I use Click Shift for Toggle ALL. ( although there is a shortcut key available for that also but I have not set up it up.)

Must use Step Input Keyboard prior to using midi controller? When I attempt to use my midi keyboard conteoller for step input, it won't work unless I input the first note in each track via the Step Input Keyboard. This doesn't seem right...

Switching tracks via MIDI controller

I've been using Logic 7 for a couple of years now. Until today, I used the 'musical typing' function and the mouse to manipulate the software synthesizers. I just got the M-Audio Oxygen controller, and I'm having trouble finding out how to toggle among software instruments via the controller. So far, I'm only able to switch instruments by selecting their tracks with the mouse. I've tried assigning the instrument tracks to different MIDI channels, then selecting that channel on my controller, but it still will only play the track that is highlighted on the screen. Logic and Oxygen references don't seem to have the answer

Open the Key Commands window -
Logic Pro : Preference : Key Commands
In search box type: next track
The default key command is 'down arrow'. Select it.
Click on 'Learn New Assignment' button and move fader/button on MIDI controller to learn the hardware switch to the function in Logic.
Do the same for 'previous track' with a different hardware button.

DVD import - selecting language track

I want to import a DVD into PE9. It works OK using get media, but I only seem to have the lead audio track, which is a German language track. Since I don't speak German I'd prefer to use either the French or English tracks, but can't see any way to tell PE to choose one of them.
Is there any way I can either select the track before import, or import them all, then delete the ones I don't want?

This presents a dilemma, if there are several Audio Tracks on the DVD. With just the Import of the VOB's, you will get the Audio from Audio Track 1, and this will depend on where the DVD was authored. The supplemental Audio Tracks will be available on a set-top player, or DVD software player, via either a Menu, or via the Audio button on the remote control.
The two ways to handle this would be to hook up the DVD player to an A-D bridge, connected via FireWire, navigate to the Audio Track Menu, and set that, then cue up the DVD to where you wish to start, and then do a Capture into PrE.
The other would be to use DVD ripping software, to extract everything, including the supplemental Audio. I believe that Video ReDo and DVDDecrypter can do this, but you might want to explore them.
Getting that supplemental Audio is tricky, and much of the success will depend on the authoring of that DVD.

Selecting multiple tracks for score purposes

I posted an earlier question about how to have the score reflect multiple tracks. What I have discovered is that the Score mode only displays the selected track, although the Piano Roll mode, which I have used for composing, will display all selected regions. I have researched the forum entries and no one seems to have an answer as to how to select multiple tracks. Apple-A doesn't work on tracks, and shift-click or apple-click doesn't either. What is the secret? Previous replies to others' similar questions actually questioned why you need it anyway. Multiple track scoring needs it!

Fox, I appreciate the time you must take to answer all these questions. I did what you suggested, but it still is not displaying the two instrument tracks I set up in a score set. Some more interesting phenomena: I tried merging regions, but got a composite staff that wouldn't work. When I undid the merge, an amazing thing happened: The score showed both parts! But as soon as I selected a region, the score reverted to the one track. The only other clue to the problem is that the two original regions were set up as midi, but the notes were entered with the step entry keyboard.
Any ideas? Should I dump preferences and restart (an old Final Cut Pro technique)?

Are you putting the file on an instrument channel rather than an audio channel? That's one possibility. The track could be muted is another.

Hi, I'm fairly new to audition as a recording tool (I'm used to Cubase instead) and I'm wondering if there's any way to arm or mute a selected track by keyboard in Audition CS6 in a multi-track project? I've looked at the manuals and custom shortcuts and can't find anything.

In CC or CS6? Are they using another term for it? I can't find it when I search for "arm" or "record" -- I'm using OSX (Mavericks), could that be it?

Now I work on 1h45min project-music for movie and when I select a track to auto zoom and I move a region 2bars on left on 40min. for example,when I back to beggining of the project,all regions are moved 2 bars left.I just don't wanna everytime,when i select track in arrange to click somewhere to unselect his regions...

It's like a hold down control and something else, and then drag the curser to select the songs you want selected. I'm not sure what this shortcut is. Again, I want to select multiple tracks on iTunes so I can move files or delete them. Simply selecting all won't work because the files are different names. Anyone know this shortcut? Thanks!

If you click a track, hold down shift, and then click another one, it will select all the tracks between those two. Holding down command (the apple key) will allow you to select/deselect individual tracks.

I did not read the rather long post. If you wish to reinstall OS X 10.4, use your software install DVD. Backup is essential. To minimize your risk, I would use an archive and install:

In that way, you will have a fresh copy of OS X and your current settings will be preserved.
Incidentally, I do not agree that the printer problem is best solved by reinstalling OS X. I have had HP printers for sometime and, on one occasion, had difficulty after an upgrade. HP technical support walked me through uninstalling all traces of the HP driver and then reinstalling.

First plug in some headphones.
Then drop the karaoke song into garageband. You do this by just draging and dropping the song file into garageband or if the song is in itunes just use garagebands media browser.
Now create another track (vocal track).
Put headphones on hit record and sing.
This is a bit over simplifed but give it a try someone will be here when you have more specific problems.

I can not select logical and physical relations in DataModeler version 4.1.0.866 Build 866 on Mac Yosemite 10.10.1 (Java SDK 1.8). DataModeler does not allow me to select them. I mean the next scenario: I create two entities (or tables) and add a logical (or physical) relation between them. After this I can not select the relation in diagram window. Meantime I still can select the relation in browser window.
Could you please suggest me is it a bug (maybe a platform specific problem) or did I miss something in software options?
I found a topic about the same issue. It describes the same problem, though the topic is without an answer and was archived.

Hi Philip,
Thank you for the good hint about "default line width and colour".
Meantime the option does not resolve the problem in my case.
According to your suggestion I set maximal width for relation lines and I still can not pick (select) it in diagram window.
I checked behaviour of DataModeler with next display resolutions on MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014) in System preferences Displays: "Best for display"; Scaled "More Space", "Larger Text", and "Best (Retina)"... And the problem takes place in all these cases.
Please see attached image - this is how I see the relation line. And I still can hit it!
If I use the DataModler on a casual external monitor, the problem is absent (no matter what a width is). Also I believe the problem takes place only on mac retina displays. Therefore I think this is a platform specific bug.
I do understand a root cause of the problem may have no direct relation with Oracle DataModeler source code.
