Selecting media type Audiobook will not stick

iTunes 10.1.2.17 84 bit on Windows 7 Ultimate x64.
I( have a set of MP3 files which make up an audiobook. They are all in their own folder. In iTunes I import the folder, find the individual tracks under Music, highlight them all, right-click and on the Options tab set media kind Audiobook, part of a compilation Yes, remember position Yes, Skip when shuffling Yes, part of a gapless album Yes, and click OK.
When I click on Books in the left-hand pane I see the book cover. If I right-click on the book cover and pick Get Info, Options tab I see that the media kind is Music. If I change it to Audiobook and click OK and check the setting, it remains set as Music.
If I look at Books in list view the individual files are media kind Audiobook.
When I click on my Touch in the left-hand pane and select Books I am informed that there are no books. Of course it doesn't get synced to my Touch.
Running Itunes as administrator makes no difference.
How can I convince iTunes that my audiobook is an audiobook?

i'm having the same exact problem with iTunes 10.1.1.4 on Windows XP SP3.
i can change the media kind of the individual mp3s, but when i go into the Books section, and do a Get Info on the compilation, it just says "Music". the first time i set this to "Audiobook" and sync my iphone, the books will sync and show up in the Audiobooks section of my iPhone's iPod app, but the next time i sync, the audiobooks are gone. In order to have them sync again, I have to once again set the compilation to "Audiobook" by doing a Get Info on the compilation in the Books section of iTunes.
i am experiencing the exact same issue as JonFleming. i want to be able to have the media kind stay as "Audiobook". how do i do this? i tried looking at the log files for iTunes, but found nothing.

I contacted Epson and the following steps resolved the problem.
Please close all of your programs to Repair Permissions:
1. Go to your Mac Hard Drive > Applications > Utilities and open the Disk Utility.
2. Click on and highlight your main Mac Hard Drive in the list on the left.
3. Select Repair Disk Permissions and once this is finished, restart your computer.
Once restarted, please do the following:
1. Open your System Preferences
2. Open Print & Fax (10.7/10.8/10.9 is Print & Scan)
3. Highlight your Epson printer in the Printer List on the left hand side of the window if it is showing in the list. If it is not showing up, continue to step 5
4. Click on the MINUS sign below the Printer List and confirm deletion of the printer
5. Click on the PLUS below the Printer List to re-add the printer
6. Click on and Highlight the Epson Printer in the window and confirm that in the USE field it reads for "EPSON XXXXXX"
7. If it does, click ADD and the printer should show up again in the Printer List and you can try to print again
If you are still having issue, try printing from Apples Preview and see if it print fine. If so, the issue would be PS and/or LR and you would need to troubleshoot the program installation.

PSE 9 Preferences:Saving Files will not stick

MacOSX 10.6, Photoshop Elements 9 - I have tried (lots of times) to set the Append File Extension: preference to Always and to check Use Lower Case. It will not stick. The next time I go into Preferences it is back to Never and the check box is unchecked. My other preference changes all seem to be saved correctly. Why does this one not save?

Let me start this with....in OS 9.2.2 I am able to delete files that are not needed from the system folder. For some odd reason when I try this in 10.3.9 it murders my system...needless to say I have printer extensions, scanner estensions,modem stuff and other not needed things living in there.
Recently I did nothing like that but also had to forcequit a program to only find that everything I opened ...might open once then it would tell me that there was an error---spit the number out---and the program would not open.
I had to do an install/archive then update to 10.3.9 again in order to gain the use of my computer and programs.
You may need to do the same thing...it is llike the cleam install of OS 9, where it replaces the system folder and stores your things into a "safe folder" to return when done. Some items may need to be manually moved and lke my printer/scanner, it needed to be reinstalled.
Insert the install cd and boot to it. Use the disk utility to repair the hd (go under the file menu I think), then choose the install and archive option (click the option button to find it). See if that helps.

Hello all and kglad, I have to use the old drag and drop code on my movie clips, but the problem is when I drag the movieclip to the area on my .swf file once i release it, it sticks to the hand mover.
I am encloseing the action script I am using could someone or kglad tell me what is missing from the code so that once it is released it will not stick, see code below

there's nothing wrong with that code but it would be better to use:
circle.onPress = function(){
this.startDrag();
circle.onRelease = function(){
this.stopDrag();
but that won't solve your problem. there must be something else going on like a depth issue. you may need to use swapDepths() to bring your circle under the mouse when releasing.

On a mac the type tool will not display when i double click on the type button in the layers panel

I figured out the issue. The Text Tool was displayed but it was off the bottom of the screen. I had to resize the window from the bottom to display the Text Tool. To do so I had to move the dock to the left and then learn that by using the Option key it is possible to change window size on both edges.

Cannot Load Adobe Flash, will not "stick" to system

I have "Loaded" installed Adobe Flash 20 times and it will complete ... but will not stick to the system.
As soon as I try to Open something that needs FLASH ... it says I have to install Flash.
PlayerPreferences does show Flash on the list.
I am a Complete Know-Nothing ... is there a trick to making the Install Stick and stay active
on my iMAC 21.5" Mid 2010 system ?

When you select a "group", it automatically selects everyone in that group.
If your just trying to add other people outside that group, then in the "To" make sure the curser is just after the last entry and you can hold your finger on that line to get your contact list to pop up or after the last entry you should have showing after that ;
Example: [email protected]; [email protected]; *notice the ; then a space for the next one

Good day. I have recently moved over to a Macbook Pro running iTunes 11.1.1. I have moved my library over from an external harddrive. I can select the media type as audiobook for the selected albums but the selected media type does not stick. Pls help

Not true. ".m4b" files are protected AAC files as used by Itunes store.
Audiobooks from Audible are either ".aa" or ".aax"
Audiobooks imported from CD can be ".mp3" or ".m4a" - when importing media type should be changed to "Audiobook"
Therefore there is no need to convert file to ".m4b".

I am using the ListenAlaska website, this is a legitimate library type of free audiobook rental download website.
I downloaded an audiobook: "The Golden Compass: His Dark Materials Series, Book I" to try this out for the first time.
It successfully downloaded & allows me to listen to it on my computer.
What I really wanted was to put it on my iPod, it only allows rentals for 7 days, so I wanted to do it soon.
I have tried to put it on my iPod through iTunes of course, but I keep getting the same error messages from iTunes, the first saying "One or more of the songs you are adding to iTunes, including "The Golden Compass-Part01.wma", are in the WMA format. iTunes will automatically convert them to the AAC format so that they can be added to your iTunes library."
There are 2 button options to either "Convert" or "Skip".
If I click the "Skip" button the Audiobook does not move to my iTunes.
If I click the "Convert" button the next message says: "The song "The Golden Compass-Part01.wma" could not be converted because it is in protected WMA format.
This error has only one button option that says: "OK".
This doesn't move it to my iTunes either.
I checked the ListenAlaska website for help & found infomation on Publisher's Permissions, & I thought maybe this was not allowed to be put on an Ipod even though it is in the "Ipod Friendly" section.
So I checked in the properties of the audiobook & it says that it is permitted to be on rented an Apple iPod device.
How can I get this to go into my iTunes?
I can't seem to find any other help on the website & it just isn't going onto my iTunes.
Please let me know what I can do.

I use this service from my local library, too. Slowly, they are starting to get tracks that will work on iPods because of feedback from library patrons.
I am not sure how ListenAlaska does it, but my library clearly marks which tracks are WMA-protected. I know these will never go onto my ipod. I can only listen to them using Windows Media Player on my PC. There are some tracks that are not WMA-protected, and those I can drag into itunes and put on my iPod. But it's never popular titles ; (
I suggest contacting your library - the more folks who ask for iPod-compatible files, the more likely they are to start getting them. There is now an Overdrive version for Macs, so they are getting there.
edit - Back to your problem, I think those tracks are marked wrong on the ListenAlaska website as being iPod friendly, when they are not.

Audiobook will not load to ipog g5

My public library allows downloads of audiobooks. The format is not converting. The book is on my laptop in Windows Media Player and when I put it into itunes it asks for the original CD so that it can convert it. I have the book on my desktop and it also will not convert when I drag the book to itunes. Is there a way to put the book into the ipod without going through itunes? Any suggestions?

Have you tried importing it into itunes by using File (upper left hand corner of menu bar) then Add File to Library?

An audiobook will not sync with my iPod

I bought an audiobook from iTunes about 2 years ago. It was on my iPod and played perfectly all that time.
About two weeks ago I noticed that all my audiobooks had disappeared from both the iPod and the iTunes library on the PC. I have manged to get them all back onto the computer and most of them are synced back onto my iPod too.
However, this one just will not sync and I cannot listen to it on the iPod anymore. It appears in the list of available books, I ticked it, but it won't sync.
When I click on the Device in the sidebar of iTunes and click on Books the name of the audiobook there in the list, but it is in grey type, not black, and there is a little circle of dots in the left hand column, just after the number.
It looks as if some of it has synced, but not the whole thing.
Any ideas? iPod support were no help and iTunes support wanted to charge me £25 for a problem they seem to have created!!

What happens when you try to sync your Shuffle with iTunes? Do you get any error messages? Does the Shuffle even appear in your iTunes library?
A little more detail would be a lot of help.

Epson 1280 - can't select media type or print quality

I just went Mac and got the imac w/ OS 10.6
I downloaded the drivers for my Epson 1280 - I can't find a way to select my media type (photo paper, etc) - nor can I find how to change my print quality (high quality vs draft).
Has anyone figured this out?

Not to sure where this setting is. Never seen it. Try your browser/File/Print/Printer - click on the far downward triangle. Any settings there you can play around with?
