Selecting Multiple Keywords for an "AND" Images Selection

When selecting images in iPhoto, one feature that I liked was the ability to fine-tune my image selection by choosing multiple Keywords. For example, I might have 50 images of Mary, either by herself or with other people, and one of the Keywords assigned to those 50 images is "Mary." I might also have 25 images of Joe, also either by himself or with other people, with one of the Keywords assigned of "Joe."
Out of all my images, there might be 5 images that include both Mary and Joe together. In iPhoto, I could rapidly find those 5 images of Mary and Joe together by clicking and selecting the separate Keywords "Mary" and "Joe" from the list of all my iPhoto Keywords.
Unless I'm missing something, the only way I have found to do this in Lightroom 1.0 is by typing both Mary and Joe in the FIND dialog box to find JUST the images of Mary and Joe together.
It is my understanding that LR currently has an "OR" find command when I "COMMAND-click" (Mac) on the Mary and Joe keywords, LR displays ALL the images of Mary and Joe. I would like to see a feature in future versions of LR where I could "OPTION-click" on the Keywords that I had set up in LR that would then initiate an "AND" Find command for the Keywords selected so that LR displays images where Mary AND Joe appear together in the images.

I did go to the LR Extras FAQ. However, I didn't find the specific references that you mention. I did notice a couple of topics that cover "intersections," but I don't think that addresses my specific request.
For example, If I'm searching through ALL of my images and I want to DISPLAY only the images of that I've taken of rivers in California, I would like to be able to do it in LR in ONE keystroke(OPTION) and TWO mouse clicks (in iPhoto, you can do it in two mouse clicks).
Currently, in LR 1.0, if I use the FIND panel, I would have to type in several keystrokes. If I don't have any COLLECTIONS for rivers or California, but do have KEYWORDS of "rivers" and "California," is there anyway I can select from the Keywords to have JUST the rivers in California displayed? To just have them highlighted only would force me to scroll through hundreds of pictures taken in California, when I might only have twenty photos of California rivers.
I appreciate your offer of help and please point me in the right direction if I am missing something. I do plan to re-visit the site again as I can see that it contains a lot of good insightful info about LR. Thanks.

Selecting multiple keywords

Does anyone know if there is a way to select multiple keywords from the "keyword tags" panel and have it do an AND search instead of an OR. i have family names setup as some of my keywords and if i select 2 names, i want it to show only photos that have have both people in them. not photos that have one OR the other.

If that is all that is wanted, in Keyword Tags on left of Library Multi-Select kewords do Select All on images and Do '+' for new collection to create collection with sellected images. Same end result.

How do I select multiple contacts for an e-mail?

Using an iMac and wondering how to send an e-mail to multiple people in my contact list without having to open the contact list every time I select a name. It would be nice if I could just open the contact list and select multiple people for the same e-mail. Does anyone know how to do this?

Hi there Kathy, The easiest way is Window (along the menu bar) > Address Pannel, then you can select multipul contacts and then click the "To:" Button in the top left of the window.
(Tip: You can use comand and click to select multipul at once, then click the "To:" button in the top left)

Dispatch center - Select multiple tasks for scheduling at the same time

You can schedule a single task or multiple tasks automatically directly from the
dispatch center. The scheduling criteria applied come from Advanced Scheduler.
Make Sure, you have the advanced scheduler. With out Advanced Scheduler and by just using Advice, you can only assign one task at a time.

Make Record for folder and multi-selected files

Hi,
'Make Record' item disappeared in MENU for folders not for files.
And it can't make record for multi-selected files.
I can only make Record by one and one.
How to make Records for folder and multi-selected files?

Programatically, only a single document at a time can be made a record :-

You could potentially through a custom workflow triggered on UserRequest allow multiple submitted documents to be made records through a custom BPEL process calling Content DB Web Services.

Select Multiple Folders for Keywording

I'm trying to select multiple folders in the catalog simultaneously in order to add the same Keywords to all of the photos in all of the selected folders without having to do it folder by folder. But although the folders are shown as selected in Navigator, nothing shows up in the main view, and the Keywords section is grayed out. Is there any way of doing this?

Hm... Lightroom remembers filter setting individually for each folder and even for group of folders. So, even if you can see pictures in one folder and see pictures in the other folder, it could be that a combination of both has a filter applied.
Try unchecking
i Enable Filters
from the Library menu while you have multiple folders selected.

Select multiple channels for one task - control and shift keys don't work

Hi,
Following advice from several other posts, I'm trying to select multiple physical channels from the dropdown list so that I can then use the "unflatten channel string" function later on. It looks like if I hold down either shift or cntrl I should be able to select multiple channels from the list, however, this doesn't work for me. I tried going into the "key navigations" property for the task channel control but it doesn't have any associations listed. Has anyone else come across this and found a fix? I have previously got around this by stating multiple channels with a colon (eg. ai1:3) but this doesn't work for the unflatten function.

Thanks for your reply Dennis, I see what you mean, unfortunately that doesn't solve my problem so I'm missing something else. I've attached my VIs. I expected that the output from the unflattenstring block would be an array of either the channel references or the names I had given them, and that therefore the "array size" in the 4th pane would be "9" (equal to the number of channels). Instead the output is a an "unnamed task#(some number)" when I look at it with a probe. Perhaps I'm misunderstanding how the task naming works?

How do I select multiple addresses for Mail from Contacts (Mountain Lion)

In Snow Leaopard, there used to be a button at the top of my "new message" called "Addresses," wherein I could select a bunch of contacts and drag them into the "to," "cc" or "bcc" field.
I don't want to sent my message to a whole group, just about 30 people in various groups.This was a very handy feature.
But the button's not there anymore. Where was this button moved to?! What "improved" place does it now reside?

Sigh. Well, don't I feel like the moron . . .
Though it makes me wonder why this didn't come over when I migrated—ah, wait, yes; I had to rebuild my machine from scratch (complete wipe and reinstall of the OS done by the apple store), and the apple support guy said to *not* use migration assistant or reinistall from time machine, since the multiple problems I was having would likely sneak in with the migration.
To his credit, he spent about three hours (in that one session—there were many more) helping me rebuild my machine from scratch (although I'm still having trouble, and we're still calling back and forth—Cory's the guy's name, and it's getting to the point where I'm going to have to include him on my holiday card list, we've spent so much time together).
So my rant still stands . . . but many thanks to you for reminding me of a (admittedly not so obvious) step I should have taken *before* flying off the handle!

Select...for update and close()

I am seeing unexpected behaviour when working with select for update, and I hope to get some clarification about it. I have RTFM and checked out any online information I could find, but didn't see too much about row level locks. See below for the problem I am encountering
We have an application with lots of threads on multiple nodes that uses a combination of row level locking and status flags to mark a row as being processed.
We are locking the rows, and then after completing the select ... for update statement we are closing the JDBC statement.
On executing the statement.close() it appears as though the row level lock is lost. Can anyone confirm this behaviour, or tell me that I am misreading the behaviour that I am seeing.

I'd expect this behavior regardless of whether autocommit was on. If a statement is closed, any locks held by that statement must be released. If they weren't, no other statement would have permission to remove the locks, so the rows would remain locked indefinitely.

Selecting multiple address for 1 email

Selecting multiple email addresses for a single email has become much more tedious. Is there any way to go through the contact list and quickly select the multiple addresses and then have them applied to the email like it was in Mavericks, and Mountain Lion?

Try going to System Preferences/Notifications and drag Mail to the Not in Notifications Center. Log out/in and then re-add it to Notifications .

Select multiple days for recurring event?

I have a recurring event (days when I am scheduled to work) at various days throughout each month- not recurring on a regular basis. It's tedious to select each day and then enter "on call" for each day. I'm looking for some way to select multiple days throughout the month and then have that same event entered for all of them. Perhaps with automator or an applescript? Thanks.

The table looks like this:

Suppose i have stored following info

I want to select the total amounts per article per year
and the total amounts per article per previous years
in ONE SELECT statement
When performing the follwing select i dont get the right information:

The cause is a cartesian product because i omit the
column PERIOD, but adding that extra where
(b.PERIOD (+) = a.period) isn't also succesful:

2002 455 1200 150
2003 455 220 300
Does anyone know how format this into 1 select statement resulting in on record per year per article.

Selecting Multiple Members for Allocation SP7

Before upgrading to SP7 from SP3, I could select multiple product categories in my data manager for allocation, ex. PROD_CAT_001,PROD_CAT_001,PROD_CAT_001 and then my allocation would run smoothly. I revised my code as shown below but I still get the same error. I really want to avoid selecting all product categories since there would be 450 members so I don't use select statements. I just want to select the product categories that have values so there would be no need to loop all 450 members because it's causing my logic to hang when validate and save it. Any suggestion on how I can select product categories that have value only?

Selecting multiple tracks for score purposes

I posted an earlier question about how to have the score reflect multiple tracks. What I have discovered is that the Score mode only displays the selected track, although the Piano Roll mode, which I have used for composing, will display all selected regions. I have researched the forum entries and no one seems to have an answer as to how to select multiple tracks. Apple-A doesn't work on tracks, and shift-click or apple-click doesn't either. What is the secret? Previous replies to others' similar questions actually questioned why you need it anyway. Multiple track scoring needs it!

Fox, I appreciate the time you must take to answer all these questions. I did what you suggested, but it still is not displaying the two instrument tracks I set up in a score set. Some more interesting phenomena: I tried merging regions, but got a composite staff that wouldn't work. When I undid the merge, an amazing thing happened: The score showed both parts! But as soon as I selected a region, the score reverted to the one track. The only other clue to the problem is that the two original regions were set up as midi, but the notes were entered with the step entry keyboard.
Any ideas? Should I dump preferences and restart (an old Final Cut Pro technique)?

Selecting multiple songs for Playlist or deletion...

this one's probably pretty easy, but how do you select multiple songs in the Music Library to be able to use in a new Playlist or to delete...I can't seem to find the right keystrokes for this....

Command-click to select multiple items or click the first one and Shift-click the last one if the items are consecutive.
Then press Delete to delete them or choose 'New Playlist from Selection' in the File menu (Shift-Command-N) to create a playlist of the selection.
You can find most shortcuts in the 'Keyboard Shortcuts' of the' Help' menu.
