Selecting music in Slideshow.

Hi again,
My slideshows are quite lengthy and run for longer than a standard song. If I fit to the music, the slides change too quickly. Is it possible to somehow have multiple songs that run back to back ?? It would be great if more than  one song could be fitted to the duration of the slideshow. I like to have a decent time length before each slide changes. is that possible ????
And many thanks Hal for your previous answer, works a treat !!!
Dave.

According to Martin Evening's Lr4 book, only single tracks can be selected.  He goes on to suggest the use of third party software to convert a playlist of songs into a single audio file.  I haven't built any slideshows long enough to need more than a single audio track, so I haven't tried to murge audio files.  Perhaps another forum member has experience stringing tunes together.

  • Problem playing selected music with slideshow

    Hi
I am having trouble playing music with slideshows since updating to iphoto 6. I can see all my playlists and I am able to select the playlist I want and this will play in the 'play music during slideshow' window. However, when I play the slideshow I receive an error message telling me that 'the music you have selected can't be found or can't be opened'.
This has only been a problem since updating and it doesn't matter what playlist I choose - they will all play in both iTunes and the selection screen for the slideshpw but not actually with the slideshow (the play music with slideshow box is ticked).
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I am about to throw my mac out the window.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. What version of Quicktime are you running? You should be at 7.1.5. If not update to it and give it another try.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Selecting music for slideshows on Apple TV

When I want to show my photos on Apple TV as a slideshow, the program randomly picks music from my i-Tunes library to accompany the slides. Sometimes the music "works", sometimes it is inappropriate and distracting. Can I control which music accompanies my slideshows without going to the work of formally creating the show in i-Movie?

If you have the latest update for Apple TV and if you have an iPod Touch or iPhone then you can use the Remote Application to change the song while viewing a Photo slide show.

  • Selected music for slideshow won't play.Just makes a distorted noise Help!

Then I would post that in the iTunes forum. As the share isn't working in multiple apps it points to iTunes as the issue.

Cannot select a music into slideshow and book slideshow presentations. In the older Mac this was easy. With new Mac OS X 10.6.8 it should work as I can stop the slideshow with cursor but pop up window for choosing music is dead. I cannot drag music into it. Preselected music just goes on.

I am talking about iPhoto. In my old Mac even in Books choosing slideshow gives a pop up where you can select a music from I tunes library. In this new one I can stop the slideshow with cursor and it shows music option but it is, as I said dead. Does not response at all to commands.

  • LR Crashes when I select music for a Slideshow!

Since I upgraded to Yosemite on my MacPro, whenever I try to select music for a slideshow, the app crashes.  Has anyone else had this problem?

    Hi there,
I'm facing the same problem here.
I cant's say for sure if this was a problem before updated to Yosemite ... I have not used this function at all.
I'm using Lightroom since LR3 and was forced to change to LR4 because of the new camera ... in the meantime I'm on LR5 and quite ok with it.
Why is noone of Adobe answering here?
How can a community find out what's wrong with the software?
I know I have found the chat button once ... but now? Gone?
    Cheers

  • Can't save "Play music during slideshow" setting in iPhoto 6

    Hi,
I just bought and installed iPhoto 6 today as an upgrade to iPhoto 4. I've discovered that I'm unable to save the "Play music during slideshow" setting in the dialog which appears when I click the "Play" button from the thumbnail screen to play a slideshow. If I uncheck this checkbox and then click on the "Save Settings" button, the next time I play a slideshow, the music starts up again. The most particularly annoying thing about this problem is that I'm trying to create a slideshow that plays no music, and I have to continually uncheck the "Play music during slideshow" checkbox each time I play the slideshow. Has anyone else run into this problem, and is there a solution or workaround for it?
    Thanks,
    Ken

    Hi,
I think I've figured out what's going on here, but I don't know how to fix it. While I was playing around with the items in the "Play" dialog that appears when you initiate a slideshow, I discovered that if I uncheck the "Play music during slideshow" and then change the selection in the tree of folders underneath the checkbox, that the checkbox becomes selected. This would normally be the considerate thing to do, since if the user were making a selection in that tree, it would be rather "rude" in a software sense to not check the checkbox automatically. Unfortunately, in this case, the logic doesn't seem to be looking at the Preferences flag which (correctly, I think) is remembering that I don't want music to be played. So what I think is happening is when this dialog is first instantiated, the checkbox setting is remembered correctly. However, what happens next is that the saved selection in the folder tree is then restored, which then triggers the "a tree selection was just made, so let's check the checkbox" event. This is why if you've saved the "don't play music" setting, the checkbox is initially cleared, and then when the tree selection is set, the checkbox becomes checked. If I save the settings with the checkbox checked, the checkbox is set from the instant the dialog appears. So assuming that this is what's happening, is it possible to fix this by editing the NIB file using the Developer Tools? Or is this logic embedded in the compiled code?
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

  • LR3 - Select Music button not working

    Good day,
I am creating a slideshow in LR3 (3.4.0), Windows XP os, and the button for "Select Music" is not doing anything.  Any ideas?

    Hi,
I had the same problem yesterday and 1-2 times before.
As you say the buttons Play/pause and Prev&Next are not working in the Control Center and in the Lockscreen.
But sometimes/ in most cases they work.
If you haven't done it yet, please leave a bugreprt at:

Lets hope Apple will fix this soon...

  • IPhoto 09.  I DON'T want music in slideshows

I recently had to get a new computer, and it came with the new version of iLife. My slideshows now all have music, whether I want them to or not. I've figured out how to make the ones I want to have music have the music I select, but can't seem to have them be silent. The "play music during slideshow" button is unchecked, but it still insists on playing music from the default list.
    How do I muzzle iPhoto?

Try trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
    *What's the plist file?*
For new users: Every application on your Mac has an accompanying plist file. It records certain User choices. For instance, in your favourite Word Processor it remembers your choice of Default Font, on your Web Browser is remembers things like your choice of Home Page. It even recalls what windows you had open last if your app allows you to pick up from where you left off last. The iPhoto plist file remembers things like the location of the Library, your choice of background colour, whether you are running a Referenced or Managed Library, what preferences you have for autosplitting events and so on. Trashing the plist file forces the app to generate a new one on the next launch, and this restores things to the Factory Defaults. Hence, if you've changed any of these things you'll need to reset them. If you haven't, then no bother. Trashing the plist file is Mac troubleshooting 101.

  • HT1338 Choosing music for slideshows

Hi, I am having trouble in selecting music to play with a slide show in iPhoto. I can see all my iTunes library but when i select a track it simply won't play in the slide show. Can anyone help?

Your idea of starting the music and then starting a slideshow is a possible work-around, but still it seems like one should be able to have programmed music for a slideshow just like in iPhoto, or the video iPods.

  • Selecting music from itunes

When selecting music from itunes for an iphoto slideshow (iphoto08), I am only able to select one song, even when I select and highlight multiple songs, only the last song in the highlighted list plays, and then repeats itself. How do I select multiple songs or an entire album -- albums are shown in the list, only the individual songs from the library? Thank you.

Thank you. Overlooking the obvious is a personal charateristic.

  • No music on slideshow imported from iPhoto

    Hi,
I posted the following question in the iPod discussion area and no one responded, so figure I'd give it a try here. I was able to import a slideshow from iPhoto 5.0.4 to a 20GB iPod Color. The slideshow works just fine, but am not getting the music I heard when watching the slideshow on my Mac. BTW, I did go under Settings on the iPod and select music->From iPhoto. Not sure if it makes a difference, but the music on my slideshow is the iPhoto default (Bach "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desire"). Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance,
    Ron

    Hi,
Try turning the music off in the slideshow (Select: Music icon in bottom right of window, unselect play music during slideshow).
    Export the slideshow again (sorry)
Add your play list for the slide show to your ipod.
Add new slide show to your ipod
On ipod go to: Photos:Slideshow settings: Music: select your playlist from the list.
The music should play when you statr your slideshow.
    Hope this helps!

  • Music for slideshow

Is it possible to pick more than one song for the slideshow on the ipad2?  I have a slideshow with over 600 pictures and listening to one song over and over is getting a bit old.

In the Photos app no - a work-around is to start the music playing in the iPod app and then switch into the Photos app and start the slideshow (with no music selected in the slideshow settings).

  • How To Copy Selected Music From One Library to Another?

What is the best way to copy selected music from one library to another?
I have a big and growing iTunes library -- 33,000 songs.
A year ago I copied my library to my daughter's new iMac.  Now, a year later, I'm off to visit her and wonder how best to update her library.  In the past year I have added a number of items to my library and I'm sure she has done the same -- some might be the same but many will be different.
How do I update her library with the new things I've added in the past year but not wipe out things she had added or duplicate when we each have a song?
I can load any / all of my stuff on an external HD and take that to plug in to her computer.  Then what?  I want to avoid duplicates and make sure I get stuff like album artwork.
I'm running iTune 10.4 on an iMac with OS X 10.6.8 -- my daughter will have the same iTunes and OS X once we update her software.
    Any advice would be great.
    Thanks

If you're sharing the same Apple ID and all your songs are from the iTunes Store, it's easy:
In iTunes on your computer, go to File->Preferences->Store and check the box next to MUSIC under AUTOMATIC DOWNLOADS.
You should also read this article, the section titled TO DOWNLOAD PREVIOUSLY PURCHASED APPS, BOOKS, MUSIC, OR TV SHOWS TO YOUR COMPUTER:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519
You could also use an rsync utility such as backuplist+ to perform a 2-way sync of the files in your two libraries while your computers are connected via FireWire with one of them in FireWire Target Disk Mode, or from your external hard drive with your daughter's computer and then to yours again. After that, you'll need to use iTunes on each computer to update its library with the new files:
    http://rdutoit.home.comcast.net/~rdutoit/pub/robsoft/pages/backup.html
This last would also be the preferred method if you have authorized each other's computers for media purchased with each other's Apple IDs (i.e. you are not sharing the same Apple ID), or if you have music from sources other than the iTunes Store. Most likely, though, music from sources other than the iTunes Store would not be legal to copy in this way for this purpose, although there is probably no technical impediment.
