Selecting my phone number as an address on iPhone 4

I changed some settings on my account and now I can't select my phone number on FaceTime or iMessage in my settings to receive messages or FaceTime calls. Can someone tell me how to add it please? Thank youuu

turn off imessage and facetime and then back on and see if it activates your number.

IMessage not selecting my phone number, its "greyed" out.

I have an iPhone 4S and it was on a monthly 02 contract but I have not terminated my contract with O2. I had my iPhone unlocked so I could use it on any network. I now have a Vodafone sim card in the phone and am on PAYG. However my iMessage is not working properly. When I try to active my iMessage my phone number is "greyed" out so I cannot send messages via my mobile number ...so can only send text messages. I did use the Vodafone sim card in my iPhone whilst my number was being ported across so it did have a temporary number. However, now my original number has been ported across I can no longer select it under iMessage as it is "greyed" out.
How do I resolve this?

Still Problem... I delete my account ID from My daughter's phone and used her iCloud email account and both of us still have same massage "waiting for activation for Message and face Time setting. Still I can see my daughter's phone number in my phone "you can be reached by face time at" and I can able to check it as well as my e-mail address but my phone number is greyed out... Ok just want to verified I can't able to face time using my phone number anymore? I don't have any option to delete my daughter's number or my e-mail address only I can add e-mail's.... I tried trouble shootings step by step but still stack in same way...` any suggestion ?

I can't select my phone number for iMessage (-sigh- Yeah, this problem again)

Let me explain the whole scenario:
My iMessage and FaceTime worked perfectly fine this morning.
I turned off my iMessage to check if I would be able to get messages from other iPhones.
My observation is that when an iPhone has their iMessage turned off and someone else who sends an imessage to that phone, their message would automatically turn to "text" messages instead of imessages. (Whoa, that sounds a bit confusing).
Anyway, I turned my iMessage back on and what do you know, I can't click my phone number because it's grey
I'm only able to select my emails. So for "send and recieve" it says "No address" (Because i didn't select anything, I'm waiting for my phone number to 'magically' get selected)
I have tried so many things and it's irritating.
My Facetime worked well, I would turn it off and back on and my number would get selected instantly. And I messed around with it, turning it off and back on to see if it'll automatically choose my number and it did. But I turned it off and on again and now It doesn't choose anything, it just says "Waiting for Activation"
But now after so many attempts of trying to turn it off and back on just to fix this iMessage crap, I can't even sign in to my apple id anymore. It says that I can't sign in and that I need to check my network connection. (I'm using wi-fi. And it's working perfectly fine; My network connection is fine)
So now, I'm really screwed. my iMessage and Facetime don't work anymore.
I'm really looking for a solution to this annoying problem.
By the way, it's an iPhone 4s and my carrier is T-Mobile.

I had the same issue. I cannot tell you why it happend although it may be tied to me changing my Apple ID passowrd.
Regardless, this was the solution for me:
Go to "Settings" on your device (I used my iPhone 5s).
Scroll down and select "Messages".
Select "Send & Receive".
Touch your "Apple ID: [email protected]" (top line in blue text).
Touch "Sign Out".
From the Messages window turn iMessage back on and sign back into your Apple ID account.
Your phone number should now be selected by default. Select the email addresses you also want assoaciated with your iMessages account and click "Next". It will verify your info and your DONE!

6230i Select standard phone number in Outlook

I have multiple phone numbers for every contact in Outlook and I am synchronizing my contacts with my handset.
In my car I am using a bluetooth interface that utilizes the in-car display. Unfortunately the in-car system only shows the default (or standard) phone number for each phone book entry.
Now I need to go through my entire address book and set the standard phone number for each entry manually in the handset. This is awkward and painful. Can this be done somehow in Outlook? So that it synchronizes also the flag for the standard number into the handset?

My texts are sendin from my email not my phone number and I can't select my phone number only the email button

It will not allow to select my mobile number to send an revive message only lets me select the email

Go to Settings/Messages and log out. Do the same for Settings/FaceTime. Then go here: https://selfsolve.apple.com/deregister-imessage and deregister the old number. Finally, log back in to Settings/Messages and FaceTime.

BTW the support page say 'enter serial number bellow', but there isn't a field to enter anything.

I have 1 800 039 536 number - but not sure if it is still operating. They were very helpful - stayed on the phone for a long time more than once as I had some peculiar issues with the Playbook.
If you are in Australia your service provider should be able to offer assistance.

Find the number on your phone using the Settings app. Then connect that phone and only that phone to iTunes. Select that phone in iTunes and double click on it. This will allow you to change the name of that phone. Change the name to something that identifies the number. Do this for all phones. They can then be all connected at the same time and you will be able to identify which is which.

Phone number re-associated with old iPhone - can't receive texts

I have given my iPhone to my son after purchasing an Android, and my son is essentially using it as an iPod. After he updated to iOS 7, my phone number (which I have transferred to my new phone) has become associate with iMessage and I am unable to receive texts on my new phone from people who have iMessage. Finally got through to talk to a very helpful technician at EE by selecting account query rather than technical problem on the automated answering system on 150. A reset by EE sorted the problem out and the phone is working fine again.

On I pad it only work with E mails because the I Pad is not associated with your cell phone number.

You did NOT erase all content in the phone if the previous owner's phone number is still associated with iMessage. Erasing all content will put the phone in an as new state, requiring activation, which you can NOT do without a SIM card. If the original owner did not remove their iCloud account and they had find my iPhone turned on, you would not be able to activate it at all without the credentials for the original owners iCloud account.
Can you still contact whoever you got it from?

Phone number links in iCal on iPhone

When I receive an email on my iPhone that has a phone number included in the text it shows as a link I can tap, and then my iPhone will dial the number. Nice. Is there a way to enter a phone number in iCal that will act the same way? I often place customer phone numbers in iCal appts, but they are not clickable; it would be really handy if they were. Am I just not knowing how to do this?

I don't believe this is possible. I sometimes enter a phone number as a note for an event, but the number is not active/clickable to dial the number as is available with a received email or with a website.

Go into Settings, turn FaceTime off. Power the phone off/on. Go back into Settings, turn on FaceTime and let it activate. The phone number comes from the SIM and the activation message. It should populate the correct number.

My dad has an upgrade with his phone number, can I preorder the iPhone 5s with his number and use it with my phone number?

Most carriers will allow you to swap phones between numbers without a problem. Swapping will not change the contract on the number that the phone was ordered for. Nor will it affect eligibility for future upgrades. Of course the "swap" will normally need to be done with phones on the same carrier and is probably easier to do when on the same account.
I do this every year, or rather every other year. I am the techie, my wife not so much. So when the new iPhone comes out, I get it for which ever number is eligible for upgrade and have it activated to my number and then activitate my old phone to her number. I usually go to the phone company store (AT&T in my case) as they have new sims on hand and usually need to use at least one.

Each of you need to have your own apple id's instead of sharing is the best way. But you can go to each phones settings, messages, send and recieve, and down to start new conversation from, and make sure each of you have your own email address with a check mark beside of it not the same address.
