Selecting services in Dynamic Navigation expands leaf folders in DTN

Hi,
I have a Detailed Navigation menu composed of 3 main folders displayed as leaf folders. To each leaf folder I have attached services by dynamic navigation.
When I click on one of the services in dynamic navigation, the DTN menu is being expanded and displays also nodes below the main leaf folder.
I need to add information that the pages displayed by services are displayed in the portal content area and not in a separate window. DTN is not expanded when the page is opened in a separete window.
Is it at all possible to avoid expanding DTN when using services in dynamic navigation with pages displayed in the portal content area?
I'm using NW Portal 7.0 SP15.

Hi Chris,
Thanks for your response.
We do have a different user group for each country, but there is only one role for all the countries.
Please pardon my ignorance, but if you are talking about controlling permissions through the permission editor in the PCD, my understanding is that these permissions only control which pages/iViews are available for personalization for the end user.
Even if I give end user permissions to specific country groups, will they not be able to see the content because their user group is assigned to the role in user management? Or should I not assign the groups to the role at all?
Could you please elaborate more on this?
Thanks in advance,
Priya

    dynamic navigation
Posted: Aug 29, 2005 3:03 PM        Reply      E-mail this post
    Hi
I have an iview from BW that generates links to reports. I associated this iview to a page as a dynamic navigation link.
When I click on the link, it does not load the content in the portal content area. I tried _self, _top, _parent as the targets in the BW web template.
How can I get the content loaded in the portal content area? What is the name of the portal content area frame?
    Thanks
    Sriram

    Hi Sriram,
I confronted with the same issue as yours but then i did the following.......
Presuming that two iviews are already created i.e.
1.Navigation Panel iview with links (left)
2.different iviews associated to the links.
    Now,
         >>Open the other iviews and select Dynamic navigation in the context menu.
         >>Right click on the navigation panel iview having the links and select "Add to Dynamic Navigation"
In the first iview for the link the code i gave is
    <a href="link2" class="urLnk" onclick="return EPCM.doNavigate('ROLES://portal_content/xyz/Pages/sampleiview')">Link to Project Plan</a>
    No need of the parent,self,.....etc.
    Hope this helps.

  • Expand all folders in the detailed navigation by default on click of Role

    Hi All,
I have a requirement on expand all the folders in the detailed navigation by defalut when we click a Role in the Fist level navigation.
Please have a look about our requirement as mentioned below.
    ->Role1(First Level Navigation)
       ->Wokset1(Second Level)
           -> Folder1(Detailed Navigation entry Folder)
                  -> Folder2
                       Page1
                       Page2
                  ->Folder3
                       Page3
                       Page4
                  -> Folder4
                       Page5
                       Page6
When the user clicks on Role1 then automatically all the folders in the detailed navigation should be expanded by default then user could see all the pages displayed in all folders. currently the functionality is collapsed all the folders by default in the detailed navigation then user has to expand the folders manually.
Regading this issue, i had seen couple of threads on the same but getting confusion what is the exact solution for the solution.
in those existing threads some people has mentioned that need to change code in the lightdetailnavigation.par or some other mentioned that it is not worked out even do the required changes in the code of light detail navigation part file. there is no clarity in the existing threads for getting  the exact solution . please let me know what are the properties needs to be changed at folder level or workset level to make sure all the folders should be expanded by default in the detailed navigation??
Currently we are using portal 7.0 version.
Any pointers in this regard would be the great help to us??
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
To expand all the folder by default, we need to set the property of the detailed navigation tree.
Open your framework page in the content administration.
Check on the detailed navigation check box and click on the properties button.
In the properties, set the value of initial state= OPEN .
This will expand all the folders by default.
    Hope you understood.

  • Can you expand the folders in event?

I just purchased a mac for the 1st time and am organizing photos in iphoto.  Is there any way to "expand" the folders under the events tab on the left side so i can easily drag and drop photos to other folders?

    No.
    Try this instead:
Flag the photos you want to move. Switch to Events view. Select the Event you want as a destination then go
Events -> Add Flagged Photos to Selected Event.
As you are new you might want to consider Albums as a much more flexible tool.
I use Events simply as big buckets of Photos: Spring 08, July - Nov 06 are typical Events in my Library. I use keywords and Smart Albums extensively. I title the pics broadly.
    I keyword on a
    Who
    What
Where basis (The When is in the photos's Exif metadata). I also rate the pics on a 1 - 5 star basis.
Using this system I can find pretty much find any pic in my 50k library in a couple of seconds.
So, for example, I have a batch of pics titled 'Seattle 08' and a  typical keywording might include: John, Anne, Landscape, mountain, trees, snow. With a rating included it's so very easy to find the best pics we took at Mount Rainier.
    File -> New Smart Album
    set it to 'All"
    title contains Seattle
    keyword is mountain
    keyword is snow
    rating is 5 stars
Or, want a chronological album of John from birth to today?
    New Smart Album
    Keyword is John
Set the View options to Sort By Date Ascending
    Want only the best pics?
add Rating is greater than 4 stars
The best thing about this system is that it's dynamic. If I add 50 more pics of John  to the Library tomorrow, as I keyword and rate them they are added to the Smart Album.
In the end, organisation is about finding the pics. The point is to make locating that pic or batch of pics findable fast. This system works for me.

  • Understanding Dynamic Navigation iview.....

In MSS, I have the following workset in my role...
    ->Team (workset)
       ---+ Team (webdynpro proxy page)
       ---+ Employee information (folder)
       ---+ Employee Working Time (folder)
       etc....
The "Team webdynpro proxy page" has an iview ,"Services", assigned in "Dynamic Navigation" but there is nothing particular about that iView itself. However, all folders (and their contents) below the Team webdynpro proxy page appear in the Dynamic Navigation panel (like "Employee information" and "Employee Working Time"). I do not understand the connection between the dynamic navigation iview and how all folders in that workset know to display in that dynamic navigation area. There seems to be no explicit assignment. How does that work?
edit: a bit more info....the "Services" iview is part of the Common Parts business package and based off the "related services" iview template. Still not sure how it "knows" to display the objects below that page that has it assigned as dynamic nav.

Did you blog about this solution?  If so could you direct me to the blog?  We need to add numerous links to outside URLs in Related links.  I need to order them somewhat differently than alphabetically.

  • Related Services iView/Dynamic Nav. and Keeping Detail Nav. the Same

    Hello Everyone,
I am trying to create Detail Navigation where the items in the navigation list are grouped together by like categories.  This can be acheived through typical navigation where like items are grouped together within a closed folder structure; however, I am trying to achieve something a little different.
I would like for the items to be grouped together by a heading (bold text) and then have the services appear below that.  I would also like for the items in the nagivation list to be unchange no matter what service is clicked.  The service that is clicked should be displayed in the Portal Content Area.  This can almost be achieved by setting up dynamic navigation using an iview that was created like a 'Related Services iView'.  The only problem is that the Detail Navigation changes to only show the current grouping when a service is selected in that grouping...meaning that the entire navigation structure disappears when a service is selected.  Does anyone know of a way to keep the detail navigation the same no matter what service is selected.  Below is an example of what I would like to see in the Detail Navigation.
    Group 1
         Service A
         Service B
         Service C
    Group 2
         Service D
         Service E
         Service F
    Group 3
         Service G
         etc, etc, etc.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Best Regards,
    Scott

The possible bug still stands, but I have determined a workaround
Move the ul tag from "Sublist Template Before Rows" to "List Template Current with Sublist Items" and "List Template NonCurrent with Sublist Items"
Sample SQL more suited to that CSS (two layers only)
    select * from (
    select level-1 lvl, ename, '#' t, null a ,null b,null c,null d
    from scott.emp e
connect by prior  empno = mgr
    start with mgr is null
    order   siblings by ename
    ) where lvl+1 between 2 and 3Scott

  • Dynamic Navigation iView

    Hi experts ,
I had uploaded a CRM role into portal from CRD , when i assign this role to myself i see a dynamic navigation component coming in the detail navigation . Because this is dynamic in nature , i guess that is why i am  not able to see this in pcd . This component consists of a few CRM related links , can anybody tell me how to modify this dyamanic navigation part like theme , changing labels , expanding/collapsing try icons etc .??

    Hey Mayank,
Under the CRM role, you would be looking at either a page or an iView to which the dynamic navigation is attached. Locate the Page/iView in the PCD and open its properties editor. Select the 'Dynamic Navigation' under Display(properties). Here you would find the pcd object which you get to see under dynamic navigation. Locate this object in the pcd and you can edit its properties like tray settings to reflect in the dynamic navigation under your CRM role. The theme would be the same as other equivalent portal objects and can be changed in the theme editor.
    Hope it helps.

  • Eventing & dynamic navigation & VC

    Hi all
i have a  page wth  a custom  webdynpro iview in the dynamic navigation  section of the page.the webdynpro app contains a tree & depending on which element in tree is clicked i want  differnt iviews to appear on the right side
the  right side iviews are developed in VisualComposer Flash & are independent of the tree webdynpro application.
Client side eventing is essentially working . i can populate the  fields in the target iviews through   clent side eventing
currntly i have ALL the target iviews on the right side of the page
what i need is to hide & show these  iviews  depending on  which branch of tree is clicked
1 option was to use VC webdynpro compile option  on the target  apps &  use  Webdynpro component iviews & page service. & do a pageService.setDynamicIView(...) & pageService.showDynamicIView(...)
and not have all the iviews  on the page at design time but have  each of them called dynamically at run time & then  fire the client side event to populate the fields
all i want to know is has any one done something similar  & did it work successfully
another option  was to have individual pages with the tree iview in Dynamic navigation & one target iview on the right & do a WDPortalNavigation. & workprotect mode(so that the tree maintains the state). but this causes  major screen flashing as the whole page gets refreshed. so this is my last option
    Any help is appreciated
    thanks
    Prasad badal

    Hi Prasad badal,
I had a similar requirement some time ago. I did not figure out a useful way to dynamically display several iViews on one page. (Except for building a HTMLB page, which I didn't, as I have never worked with that before).
You could deploy all iViews in one single VC-Model.
Then display all iViews above each other. Depending on what tree element is selected, you display one iView and hide all others.

  • Employee Search in Dynamic Navigation does not update other iViews (FPM)

    Hi all,
after selecting a person from Employee Search (MSS) we have to display corresponding data in a customer specific iView with help of selected person number.
So I created a Floorplan Manager Application as described in https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/wiki?path=/display/profile/how-toaddacustomWebDynproiViewtotheMSSEmployeeProfile%28ECC+6.0%29&
If I use the SAP content page or create my own pages with corresponding Employee Search and customer specific iView, updating of data on the customer specific iView works. But if I add the Employee Search to Dynamic Navigation, the data is not updated in the customer specific iView.
I didn´t find a solution in this forum. Does anybody know, if it is possible to add the Employee Search as Dynamic Navigation (with help of Floorplan Manager functionality) and update data in other iViews and how this works? Or is it possible to handle this in a different way, e.g. PortalEventing?
    Thanks,
    Thomas

    Hi,
I also tried to use only iViews of 'General Information'  and added the employee search (team viewer) of the sap
content page 'General Information' to the dynamic navigation, but the other SAP standard iViews of 'General Information' page are not updated, too.
Does anybody know, if it is possible to add the employee search to dynamic navigation and to update the other iViews of 'General Information'? If yes, what properties have to be set? Are some settings for Floorplan Manager
    needed?
Could anybody please give me a hint?
    Thanks,
    Thomas

  • Dynamic Navigation in ES

Has anyone tried to add dynamic navigation to ESS page? My issue is after I click the links on the page to launch the service (e.g. Working Time: Record Working Time Service), dynamic navigation is lost.  Please suggest.  Thanks,
    Rong

    Hello again,
thanks for your support. It was all my fault that the dynamic navigation didn't work. I've already added the Dynamic Navigation iView to the Framework-Page, but forgot that I made objects invisible by default for that specific container that I added the DN iView to. So making contents visible for this container worked.
Anyway, Karsten's link might be very helpful for future Layouts. But for this specific layout the customer explicitly wanted the old default framework behavior for the dynamic navigation.
@Detlev Knowing where to find that code is very good. Actually it's not that self-explanatory and I didn't find out how the DN works in the AFP, but thank you anyway. We've never worked with the AFP before and maybe I didn't phrase my question clear enough. Maybe that's why none of the colleagues I've asked were able to answer my question.

  • GenericCreator: How to add iview as Dynamic Navigation

    Hi All,
Had anyone used the "Uploading Content and Actions" into the portal via XML file process to add an iview into a page into the Dynamic Navigation portion which will cause the iview to load up on the left panel of the page.
I am able to do this via the Portal manually, but would like to know how this can be achieve using the .xml and the GenericCreator.

    Hi Mary,
What I meant by being able to do this manually in the portal, is the process of going into Content Administrator > Portal Content  finding the page that I would like to add the iview into.  Selecting the page, executing a Right-Click > Edit-Dynamic Navigation.  Then finding the iview, Right-Click > Add to Dynamic Navigation.
This will add the iview into the Dynamic Navigation portion of the selected page.

  • Dynamic navigation, on HCM Process and Forms "Web Dynpro FORM"

    Hi,
I'm trying to solve an issue regarding dynamic navigation, on a enhacement done at the Web Dynpro ABAP QISR_UI component for HCM Process and Forms.
I'm hiding the Adobe Form, and doing "do_dynamic_navigation" for a dynamic generated view container present at the VIEWSHOWFORM on the QISR_UI component.
The code works great, i.e.: the Adobe Form remains hidden and the custom form, using Web Dynpro appears.
I'm also using the HRASR00_PROCESS_EXECUTE_1 component to execute a Portal IView (Floorplan based component).
When the process is started, and the folowing actions are executed:
    1- Select Employee
    2- Select Process
    3- Edit form
4- Press back (for example if the wrong process is selected)
    5- Select the Process
    6- Edit form again

    Hello,
Basically what I did was replacing the Adobe Form, by a Web Dynpro component that contains its own form, and associated logic.
Tecnically the steps to acomplish the task were:
1º Development of a component for showing a form. ( I suggest you to start with just a "hello world" or something very basic )
2º Enhance the QISR_UI component (VIEWSHOWFORM view, on the modify view method), something like
if form scenario = XXXXX then
    hide the adobe form;
create a custom view container (the problem I had above), and create an instance of the component created on step 1
    end if
3º Access the context that the original form returns (you can check the context debugging the VIEWSHORFORM view )
4º Pass the context to the component created..
I can't provide further details on this, I'm sorry...
I do not suggest doing this, this was a requirement so I had to do it... But this requires a lot of workarrounds, and lots of small changes in standard code related with process and forms... It's not, also, a "clean" solution
    Regards,
    Joã

  • Dynamic Navigation and Teamviewer

We programed our own iviews in WebDynpro for using in manager selfservice.
For changing between different employees, we assigned the standard SAP teamviewer as a dynamic navigation to the pages which include our WebDynpro iviews.
This proceeding works well. For each iview we can change the employee we like to work on. But if we go to another WebDynpro application in the navigation path, the teamviewer is open in a new way. So the teamviewer lose the indicated employee by stepping from the first to the next application.
But by using the standard manager role, the teamviewer hold the selected employee.
How can I get this effect? Where can I find same information about this problem?

    Hi,
Maybe it has to do with the isolation of the iView. By default (i guess) it is configured to be "embedded" on page, this will result in refreshing. Set the iViews to "URL" (and also set the highttype to "automatic").
Otherwise it has to do with the navigation. Are u using the Light Portal Framework?
If so it could be the case that the navigation is triggering a complete page refresh instead of only refreshing the content area..
    regards,
    Benjamin
