Selecting Simulator playback for output via DV camera

Hi, I'm trying to use a different window for viewing my DVD project in Simulator. I cannot seem to access "Digital Cinema Desktop Preview" which is specified in the manual. It says "The two choices are Simulator Window, which is the default setting, and Digital Cinema Desktop Preview, which actually selects your system’s second monitor, whether it is an S-Video monitor, an Apple Cinema Display, or any other appropriate display. See “Simulating With an External Video and Audio Monitor” on page 547 for more information."
on that page it says this:
"There are two common approaches to connecting an external video monitor:
• Connecting a video monitor to your computer’s S-Video output (if present)
• Connecting a second monitor to your system (if supported)"
Given that I have neither, but instead wish to use my DV camera through the 3rd-party app "Echo Fire", is there a way to force the video output from simulator into a DV camera [I'm authoring for SD-DVD now]?
Any help or other 3rd party "desktop extender" ideas would be helpful. Echo Fire seems to be a great option, but DVD studio pro doesn't seem to recognize it. I could test it on the Kona2 card here, but it's a little too high end, nor is it hooked up to an SD monitor for accurate SD previewing.

No way for third party application to direct Simulator output to a DV camera, even if you have Echo fire. What Mac model are you using?

Cant select airplay device for output audio

Every now and then I can not select airplay device for output audio, its there as an option but I cant select it.
Restarting coputer helps, but very anoying.

Killing coreaudio fixed it for me without a reboot:
sudo kill `ps -ax | grep 'coreaudiod' | grep 'sbin' |awk '{print $1}'`
This seems to be a common issue, so PLEASE solve it

Dolby Digital 5.1 playback for output, now missing in iPad

Just last week i got new some movies from iTunes for playback on my iPad 2, including the HDTV. However since last 2 days i'm unable to find the 2 track option that appear during the usual playback on the iPad. There now seems to be no option where i select the DD 5.1 for output playback. (BTW the movies are encoded with Dolby Digital 5.1)

Can anyone please help me on this, if you guys can check is the 2-track option available while watching movies on iPad 2... or is it just me who is unable to find it despite these movies being encoded in DD 5.1

Cannot select Airplay Device for Output Audio

I can't select my chosen AirPlay device for Output Device. It shows up as one of the options in the Sound System Preference, the Sound Selector in the Menu Bar or the AirPlay selector in iTunes (version 11.0.1). But, when I select it, it automatically re-selects the built-in speakers. Rebooting is the only way to restore this functionality. Even then, it seems to work for a time, then quits working. This problem has been reported elsewhere with no resolution that I'm aware of. Any ideas?

How to select the browser for output

I have two brosers mozilla and internet explorer
when i run the application defaulty it's taking the mozilla.
how to change it to internet explorer.
is there any settings are there in NWDS to select the specific browser.

Hi,
I feel this is due to the default browser setting which is set to mozilla firefox for your system. This can only be resolved by re-setting it to IE from Control panel-> Add remove prog->choose Set Program access and defaults. If you r on Windows XP, you have to choose Custom and then modify settings as per your need. This will be applicable or overall browser settings.
There is no setting related to browser in NWDS.

Just tested something and it worked.
If I put the headphones all the way in, the mac recognizes it as a digital output.
But if i don't put it all the way in, it recognizes it as headphones and works perfectly.
It's probably this crappy headphones.
If anyone has the same problem, try this out.

'Music' displays but won't play. Settings appear correct and iPhone is selected for output. Startup screen intermittently displays with the lower pause/play volume bar for no clear reason..... developed at the same time as play failure. Ideas????

Appearane of 'Music' functions (I>> > II <<I, plus volume slider) on the lock/log in screen (when first turning on the iPhone) thus far seems without pattern, i.e. regardless of which if any applications are up in the background, and indeed even when all have been quit.
All visual aspects of 'Music' appear normal after launch including the title scroll across the top in vertical mode. However, while pressing play (>) converts the play (>) icon to pause (II), selected song does not play and the elapsed time bar (upper end between the track count and the repeat/shuffle icons) remains stationary at 0:00 or at any point to which it is dragged. When using home sharing this same problem persists regardless of what output is selected.
Hope that may prompt a thought somewhere.

User exit to change vendor e-mail address used for PO output via e-mail...

We have two vendor e-mail addresses for a particular vendor. Ignoring output determination, it looks like I will need to control which of the two e-mail vendor addresses is used when the PO is output via e-mail.
The default is the first one e-mail address, but for PO's I would like to force the second vendor e-mail address.
There are tonnes of exits available for PO output by the looks of it so I am trying to discover which is relevant for what I am trying to achieve.

I guess that's the same path that I took earlier when using SPRO and looking at the Purchasing->Messages. In my case it's ZMEDRUCK, but that does not help me in regards to controlling the vendors e-mail address being used. When sending the PO as an e-mail it uses (by default) the first e-mail address of the Vendor, whereas the vendor could have multiple ones. In my test case my vendor has two addresses but it always defaults to using the first. I know that I need to modify this behaviour somehow, but how I have no idea as I can find no Exit routine.

Looking for a retail available camera that is compatible with FMLE

I am looking for a retail available camera that is compatible with FMLE. I do not have a computer with HDMI input, and in the past, I have typically ran with a USB connection. Does anyone know of a camera that is available at a local retail store that would work with FMLE through a USB connection?

Webcams will work, although they may not give you the flexibility that you're looking for with a more traditional "camera".
You may be more interested in looking at a converter/digitizer -- something that can take a variety of inputs and pull those into your computer as a a video source that your computer, and FMLE, sees as a "camera".

You'll see a variety of webcams, capture cards, cameras, and other devices that are known to work with FMLE. Most of those solutions, however, require the installation of a card or require that you have Thunderbolt connections or FireWire connections. Not on that list is the Dazzle line of digitizers. I know several people who use Dazzles with FMLE -- and while each one seems to have issues that you have to be aware of, they do work (some better than others). As long as you're aware of the issues, it's not a problem working with these devices -- and they're pretty inexpensive. The Dazzle Video Creator Platinum seems to have the least amount of problems (the only real problem that I'm aware of is that you have to be sure to disable your preview windows in FMLE if you want to make changes to the source settings -- or it will crash FMLE. But, once you get your settings in place you can enable the preview windows again and don't have to worry about it). The great thing about a digitizer is that you can now use any camera that can output to standard composite cables (the yellow, red, and white 'RCA' cables -- or SVideo cable). So your camera selection possabilities increase greatly.
If you're looking for a standalone camera that can deliver a live video feed through USB -- good luck. I'm sure they're out there, but your choices are going to be very limited.
Personally, I use the Canopus ADVC110 -- which allows me to hook up any camera (or even a playback deck/DVR/DVD player, etc.) that can output composite (RCA) or FireWire or S-Video. The ADVC110 will not work for you, as you need FireWire to hook up to your computer, but just in case you do have FireWire I can tell you that it is a stellar box with no issues at all.

Input via FastTrack output via Built-IN?

The little FastTrack usb connection I have works fine for my experiments. I'm able to record and eventually playback.
However, I cannot monitor nor hear playback via my computer speaker while, just before or after recording.
In the audio controls, all I can seem to find is a master 'input'... I just want to be able to hear what I'm doing via the speaker of the computer but input via my FastTrack.
This works out fine in Garage Band and even opening a GarageBand file will start things off right so where else can I select the monitoring and output to be through the built-in speaker?

For some strange reason, you can have separate input and output devices in GarageBand, but not Logic.
If you want to use your computer's built-in output with your interface as the input, you need to create an 'aggregate device' which creates a virtual interface combining your built-in audio ins/outs with your interface's ins/outs. This will explain how:

Better yet, plug your headphones/monitor speakers in to your interface, and ignore your computers built-in speakers. Just select the FastTrack in Preferences->Audio

How to change the default setting for Output Preview

Good afternoon! I use the Output Preview feature under Advanced > Print Production quite a bit, to preview the rendering in one specific simulation profile (for me, its Web Coated SWOP 2006 Grade 3 Paper).
Is there any way to set the default to be a specific profile, instead of the one that keeps coming up (Output Intent: CGATS TR 001)?
It's very time consuming to have to repeatedly select my profile everytime I open a PDF and gauge the file in Output Preview.
Any help would be greatly appreciated... thanks!

All you need to do is set the default CMYK (under Preferences > Color Management) to the profile you use the most. It will then default to that profile in Output Preview, unless it has an Output Intent specified.

In messege determination necessary data is not maintained. Goto
MN04, select output type as NEU, then click on key combination and select the last option, then select document type as NB and FUNC as VN and put medium as 1 and in Date / time field 4, language EN and SAVE the data.
This will solve the problem.

Hello,
You need to carru out your output configuration for this.
Use tcode, NACE where you can do this centrally.
Select V1 & click on output types above
Select output type MAIL for your requirement & use tranmission medium as simple mail.
After configuring your MP mail partner functions & use of proper output program you will be able to send mail to your party.

Output via firewire with studio 2

I have recently set up a FCP Studio 2 system with a kona LHe card and am having a hard time outputing to dvd. We are using an HD player deck (JH-3) and our analog outputs from the kona are component only. DVD players only take s-video and composite. I need to find a way to go firewire out into my dvd player. There is no option for this in the video playback... I know people doing this on studio 1 but i cant seem to find any way of outputting via firewire in studio2.. any suggestions???

Thanks for the reply. Yes Im trying to go to a dvd recorder for dailies output. In avid i have s-video and analog out of the mojo but I only have component out as an analog option from our Kona card. In our studio 2 for some reason we dont have an option to go firewire out. Could this be from a poorly installed FCP? In the video playback options we dont have any firewire options.

Frustrated new FCP user trying to figure out how people record to dvd without looping through deck...

Output via Firewire

I am trying to export my finished video to my camera via firewire so that I can then send it to a VCR via the camera's analog outputs. I used to do this often on my old computer, but can't do it on my new one. I connect a firewire cable from the computer to the camera, but do not then see the video in the camera's LCD screen. This leads me to believe that the signal is not being sent from the computer.
Is there a setting, either within Premiere CS4 or in the computer's Control Panel, which I need to change?
