Selecting Spelling suggestions using bluetooth/external keyboard

Hi,
I just got myself a logitech keyboard case. It works fine. But I have this questions regarding selecting spelling suggestions. Is there a way or a key combination that can be used for selecting the spelling suggestion without touching the ipad i.e. from the keyboard itself?
Regards,
Jaydeep

Using the instructions in the below link we can use external keyboard to its fullest capabilties.

  • HT201406 How can I use my external keyboard opposed to the internal key board on the screen.

I have a Zagg IPad, and the problem I'm having is the external keyboard that sits in the case will not work.  The internal keyboard on the screen is the only one that works.  How can I change the keyboard to work from the base instead of using the keyboard on the screen.

Have you ever paired them? If the keyboard and iPad have been paired, just turn the keyboard on, hit a key and give it a few seconds to power up and connect.
If you've never paired them then there should have been instructions with the keyboard to tell you how to do that.
If it just recently stopped working, you might try charging your keyboard.

  • I've connected my macbook pro (os 10.6.8) to an external display, but it will not go into clam shell mode!  When I close the lid the laptop goes to sleep, and I am unable to wake it using the external keyboard or mouse.

A rundown of what I've tried:
Adjusting energy settings to try to prevent sleep
Pluging the USB keyboard and wacom tablet directly into the laptop (as opposed to a usb hub)
My laptop's power cable is connected
My display (a Vizio TV) is recognized in the System Preferences panel
I'd been using this TV for about a year with my older Macbook Pro (OS 10.5.8), though using a different wireless keyboard and mouse
***Update:  The issue seems to lie with the keyboard and wacom tablet.  I am trying to use a wireless Case Logic keyboard (with dongal) and wired wacom tablet to wake the Macbook Pro in clamshell mode.  To experiment, I tried using my Logitech wireless keyboard & mouse set (also dongal) that I had been using before and it wakes the computer without any problems!  However, I really need to be able to use my wacom tablet.  If I switch to the tablet after waking the computer using the Logitech keyboard & mouse it works, but once the computer sleeps it won't work anymore.  I could keep switching back and forth I suppose, but it's sort of a pain.  There has to be an easier way!  Any ideas why the wired wacom tablet is unable to wake the computer in clamshell mode?
    Thanks!

So your keyboard or mouse won't wake the Mac when you close the lid correct? Try resetting the SMC and pram
    Shut down the computer.
Disconnect the MagSafe power adapter from the computer, if it's connected.
    Remove the battery.
Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
    Release the power button.
Reconnect the battery and MagSafe power adapter.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
    Resetting NVRAM / PRAM
    Shut down your Mac.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.

  • Using bluetooth apple keyboard simultaneously with logitech ?

I wiish to add an Apple wireless keyboard to my setup, but keep Logitech wireless keyboard and mice through Unifying.
Is this feasible ? Anyone ever experienced this ?
I'm avoiding to enter the "why" of this, but matter of logistics.

    Device 10:9A:DD:9C:3D:DA
    Name: Apple Wireless Keyboard
    Alias: Apple Wireless Keyboard
    Class: 0x002540
    Icon: input-keyboard
    Paired: no
    Trusted: yes
    Blocked: no
    Connected: no
    LegacyPairing: yes
Note that the device doesn't say its paired. It needs to be paired before you can connect to it.
Though I'm not sure of exactly what is causing the problem, try keeping all the commands within your bluetoothctl session and give explicit commands for registering the agent, so:
    $ bluetoothctl
    [NEW] Controller XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX hostname [default]
    [bluetooth]# power on
    [bluetooth]# agent KeyboardOnly
    [bluetooth]# default-agent
    [bluetooth]# scan on
Now wait for the device to show up on the scan, it will immediately return to prompt, but the prompt will change as devices are found.
    [bluetooth]# scan off
    [bluetooth]# pair XX:
You can tab-complete the address or enter the whole thing. It should prompt you for a pin if necessary. Wait until pairing is complete before you trust and connect to it.
Since you're using an apple wireless keyboard, I think it actually requires you to type the pin on the keyboard you are trying to connect to, you might want to look up Apple's instructions for this. In this case your computer would generate the pin to give to the new keyboard instead of the other way around.

  • Connecting external keyboard to iPod touch

    Hi,
Is it possible to connect external keyboard to iPod touch. I saw a article in net which says that we can connect external keyboard to iPod touch with Jailbreaking, which I don't want. Is there any other way to do that?.
    Regards, Arun

You got a point there, jailbreaking might solve a lot of things like attaching an external keyboard to the iPod touch by installing a application in Cyria store which bring support for Bluetooth keyboard. But is not a very safe choice to do that. Since it clearly voids your warranty on the device and youifht have some problems with software issues causing to malfunction of the iPod touch.

    Regards, Arun
Well, right now is not possible to connect an external keyboard to your iPod touch because of some software limitations imposed by apple. There are rumors that since the ipad has the ability to use an external keyboard via Bluetooth that it might come to the smaller screen devices like the iPod touch. Some say via an software OS update, but let's see if it's true.
As of today, the only real solution as to connecting a physical keyboard on the device is by a product that was released last year by Mobile Mechatronics. It’s called iTwinge – a lightweight keyboard sleeve that attaches to the bottom of the device. I will provide a link to the manufacturer website below, click on the link.

  • Nokia Lumia 710: external keyboard?

Is there any way to use an external keyboard for the Lumia 710? I am a college student that doesn't really want to shell out for a new tablet and keyboard, and I know that the 710 has Microsoft Office on it, even if it is mobile. I know there is the whole bluetooth issue, but I was wondering if anyone has found anything compatible with it, like perhaps the Nokia SU-8W keyboard or even maybe a tablet keyboard using a USB-to-mini USB converter?

My Lumia 710 had a virtual keyboard problem. Letters "T", "F", "C" in portarait mode and I could not touch the + sign to start a new SMS message. I could not touch the check mark, which is located about the same place where the + sing is on the screen. I went through all the updates through Zune program hooked up to the PC, but it didn't change anything. I concluded that it was the digitizer malfunctioning. I replaced the digitizer just now and it resolved all my touch problems. I hope this helps those with similar issues on their Lumia 710.

  • N97 - external keyboard

I would like to use an external keyboard with my N97 - the built-in keybaord is a little to small for my fingers.
I found the Nokia Bluetooth keyboard SU-8W on the Internet and bought it for a considerable amount of money. It worked perfectly at first - but after upgrading to the latest version of the N97 software, the keyboard software does not work any more.
Is there anything I could do to get it to work again?
Or are there any other external keyboards available that would work with N97?

Bit basic I know , but have you gone into connectivity settings, check bluetooth Paired devices and delete any that are there then try and pair with keyboard again ? Also check Access.setup in applications.
    Good Luck

  • T530 External keyboard starts 'delayed'

Just got my new T530. I hooked it up to a 4338 dock in the office and use an external keyboard there.
When cold booting the external keyboard does not work during boot up (for example when the dual boot screen is displayed) and even on the logon screen it takes about 30 seconds before the keyboard becomes active.
I tried all the ports on the dock, but the keyboard behaves the same.
Even undocked, when I connect the keyboard to any USB port on the T530 I have the 'delayed' start of the keyboard.
I checked the USB settings in BIOS and they are all enables.
The keyboard is a recent Logitec version.
I had used the same keyboard on my T61 which also was docked in the office and that combination worked just fine.
Any ideas if there is a setting I would need to change?

    gerdgoebel and SOA,
Can you try different keyboard? Have you tried updating the BIOS?
Just a suggestion, try plugging the keyboard into the USB on the laptop then do a cold boot. During cold boot, keep spamming F1 and see if you are able to boot into BIOS.
Once that is done then post the results then try connecting the USB to the dock and see if you are able to boot to the BIOS.
Also is the Windows the Lenovo Preloaded ones?
I did want to test this however I am using a T420 ...
    Thanks

  • How to Disable WiFi for Portege R830 + Port Replicator& External Keyboard

Dumb questions I'm sure, but this is driving me nuts.
I have a Port Replicator with external keyboard and monitor attached. The Port replicator has an wired Ethernet connection to my LAN. When I dock my R830 into the Port Replicator I'd ideally like it to turn off the wireless adapter, but as a minimum I definitely want it to default to using the wired LAN connection not WiFi.
Currently it just seems to randomly decide to either use the wired or wireless connection when I dock.
    So ... two part question:
    1. How can I set the R830 to automatically default to a wired Ethernet connection when I dock?
    2. How can I disable the wireless connection when I'm docked and using an external keyboard (the F8 toggle to turn wireless on/off on the laptop keyboard doesn't work on external keyboards)
Many thanks in advance for your advice.

    > How can I set the R830 to automatically default to a wired Ethernet connection when I dock?
If the port replicator is connected to the LAN then the notebook would use the LAN connection automatically if you connect the R830.
    > How can I disable the wireless connection when I'm docked and using an external keyboard (the F8 toggle to turn wireless on/off on the laptop keyboard doesn't work on external keyboards)
Well, in such case you can use the internal keyboard to switch off the Wlan using Fn + F8

  • Enable/disable wireless whilst Laptop is docked (External Keyboard)

    Part Number : PT311E-02Y01JEN
    Hi,
Can anyone tell me how to toggle wireless on/off using an external keyboard for the R700 whilst it is on it's docking station?
We only seem to be able to toggle wireless using the built in keyboard (Fn + F8) key.
Also, is there anyway that wireless can be set to off as default at boot up? Is this something that can be done through the BIOS or perhaps by tweaking a registry key?
    Grateful for any assistance.

may seem like a silly question, but why can't you simply use the laptops keyboard????? or is it just a niggly type issue that you'd rather use external one?
unfortunatley the R700 doesnt have a hardware switch for the wireless so its purely mapped to the Fn key which is a toshiba function, so an external k/b is unlikely to be able to replicate it
you can always disable the wireless through W7 network and sharing centre -> change adaptor settings, so few clicks with the mouse or even shortcut it to taskbar/start menu for easy access.

  • Macbook Pro Retina - Use a wireless keyboard

Silly question, but I need the answer.  Can the Macbook Pro Retina use the Apple Wireless Keyboard and then doc to a monitor via Thunderbolt?  My idea is just like you would dock a pc, so to speak.  I assume the answer to be yes, but need confirmation.
    Thanks!

Yes.  You can use an external keyboard and monitor and even close the MBpro lid to operate in clamshell mode.
Here are the rules for clamshell mode:

  • Pages 5.5  use keyboard to ignore spelling suggestion

Is there a way, using the keyboard, to ignore a spelling suggestion.  When suggestions pop up I can hit esc and they disappear, but without making the computer learn the spelling for each one (which I don't want to do) for some words, as soon as the space bar is hit to continue typing, the word changes, despite the previous attempt to ignore the suggestion.  So far the only way of remedying this is to go back to change the word after there is some text after it.

For some yes I can get it to "learn" the spelling, but for others I don't want to.  I am working on a document in multiple languages amongst which are ones with non-Roman alphabets.  There is even now not one accepted way for transliterating, so while I have my "official" one, whenever I cite an author who uses a different one I need to use their transliteration, not mine, so I don't want to "learn" the other transliterations.  It is also a problem when I am using American English and spelling but citing a text that uses British English and spelling.
I have noticed that if you add a punctuation mark after the word it won't autocorrect, but of course then you have to go back and take it out.   I have also had success with having an extra space after my input location and moving to "end of line" seems to also prevent autocorrect.  Which from what I can tell is my best solution.

  • Can I use an external bluetooth adaptor instead of the internal one?

    HI Folks,
I need some better range for some bluetooth to serial adaptors so I purchased a class 2 (or was it class 1? memory fading but the higher output one) USB bluetooth dongle which advertised as being Mac compatible. Unfortunately when I plug that into my mini (previous generation core 2 duo mini) I can't see that I can disable the internal device. It shows up on the USB bus but as far as I can tell the system is continuing to use the internal device.
Is there a way to tell it to use the external device? Can I crack the case and remove the internal module? I know the airport module is a separate card I can unplug but can I do the same to the bluetooth?
    Thanks for any suggestions!
    James

heh, so I should have just tried it again. Last time I did this was a couple of OS versions ago though I have no way to know if that is what did it. Upon plugging back in the class 1 external interface is now appears that my machine is properly using BOTH interfaces. IN the discover new devices screen it now sees itself as an option which it never did before, and shortly thereafter the previously out of range devices popped up as well. So in order to use an external bluetooth adaptor it doesn't appear you have to do anything other than plug it in. It did not do this the last time I tried though.
    In any case, thanks!

  • I need to reprogram the delete and enter key to the left side of a external keyboard for the ipad mini. don't need the caps/lock or ctrl key and due to an injury my daughter can only use her left hand to type. She is using a text to speech app to verbaliz

I need to reprogram the delete and enter key to the left side of a external keyboard for the ipad mini. I don't need the caps/lock or ctrl key. Due to a brain injury my daughter can only use her left hand to type. She also uses a text to speech app to verbalize all of her needs since her speech isn't intelligible any longer either. And her vision was significantly affected also, so the keyboard has to be mounted about 6 inches from her face. So to reach across the keyboard with her left hand to the right side delete and enter button is physically difficult and causes typing errors, which cause people to not understand what shes trying to say.
The best keyboard so far is the Zagg folio mini. I just had to make stickers to enlarge the letters on the key buttons.
Does anyone know how I can reprogram these two keys? Or where I can buy a wireless mini keyboard for Ipad made for lefthanders with these two functions on the left side. I have searched for days and days. It's sooooo important to me that she be able to contribute her voice again. Imagine if you got in a car accident and couldn't speak clearly any longer, but understood everything still. Thanks for any help and suggestions you all take the time to share with me. I really appreciate the kindness of strangers to help me help my daughter.
