Selecting the Correct digitizer

Hi
I need to perform Voltage measurements  (Vpeak to peak, Vrms, Vmax and Vmin) produced by the Back emf of an specific Brusless DC Permanent-magnet Motor at Speed of 7,000 Rpm's
based on the following considerations:
MOTOR DATA:
Number of Poles in Rotor = 10 (5 North and 5 South)
Number of Motor Phases = 3
1 mechanical turn = 1800 elctrical deg per Phase.
Speed: 7000 rpm /60 = 116.66 rps.....then 1 rev at 116.66 rps occurr each 8.571 mSec.
Voltage = +/-10V
....am thinking to use a the NI PCI-6110 Digitizer...4 Ch; 12bit; 5MS/s/Ch (http://sine.ni.com/nips/cds/view/p/lang/en/nid/203056).
Is this Card optimum for my application?
Is there are other Card (more cheap) capable to use in my applicaiton?
What other consideration do I need to take in a count in order to make a good card selection?
Please help me with any comment ...
Thanks for your attention

Hi delt,
The most important parameter while choosing a data acquisition card is the sample rate. As far as I understand from your post, the frequency of your signals will be around 116 Hz (supposing a cycle of your signal per revolution). Your sample frequency should be at least 10 times the frequency of your signal in order to recover the shape of the signal, so you should sample at least at 1.16 kS/s (which isn't that much considering that the card you suggested samples at 5 Ms/s). So I guess that this card is quite too much for what you need if the frequency of your signal is indeed 116 Hz. So you could use a Multifuncional M Series card like the PCI-6221: http://sine.ni.com/nips/cds/view/p/lang/en/nid/14132.
Another thing you have to consider is that some cards appear as simultaneous, this cards has an ADC for each channel and are more expensive, their sample rate won't reduce if you use all the channels at the same time. Other cards only have one ADC and a multiplexer, so the maximum sampling frequency divides per the number of channels used. For example, if the sampling rate is 833 KS/s as in the PCI-6221 and you use 10 channels, the maximum sampling frequency you will be able to achieve is 83.3 KS/s.
Other thing you should consider is the isolation, therefore there are some cards designed to work under noisy conditions common in industry (which might be the case considering you are using motors), so you might want to take a look at this industrial cards, such as the PCI-6230: http://sine.ni.com/nips/cds/view/p/lang/en/nid/202499
I hope this information is useful to you.
Have an excellent day.

data types used in a sub VI - selecting the correct input and output types?
I can never work out how to choose an input or output format for Subvi's.
I want to create a SubVI for the code in red. I needs an VI Server Reference compatible input and an output that goes to  a waveform.

    GerdW,
I realise now I have taken us in the wrong direction. apologies for that.
History, this is not my code and I do not own the process and NOT my preferred method of using it. I was looking for a simple way to make subtle changes.
What we do - We use these programs to collect data from typically 6 pressures and 6 temperature probes and capture RS232 / USB VISA strings from sensors.
So every few weeks / months or up to a year we rearrange each sensor location to suit the new process. I did not write the code. I cannot change the procedure too much without resistance.
So headers in the CSV file have the DaqMX string passed through the code. Great.
Other data to the CSV file comes from calculations or extracted from the VISA string. Hence why we have headers with "Untitled 1 ()". These values also go to a History Chart.
So I was looking for a simple way to read the the local variable label as it is always linked to the front page indicator. People can cope with editing the indicator label, save the VI and hit run.
    TL;DR - GerdW is now a psychologist.

  • Selecting the correct membership type

    Hello,
I am wondering if I selected the correct type of Creative Cloud membership a couple of months ago upon signup.
I am a photographer and use only Lightroom and Photoshop. Upon switching over to Creative Cloud, I selected the "Creative Cloud for Teams" but now I am thinking that this may not have been the best option. I work alone and only need the two apps.
Can I switch my membership to something that makes more sense for my business?
    Thanks!

  • Selecting the correct lot size...

    Hi,
I have some problem in selecting the correct lot size, please help me solve it.
The requirement of raw materials per month is 100nos. But the vendor cannot supply them in qty required by us but supply can happen in 1000nos. I cannot purchase all the quantities as materials cannot be kept in store for long period.
Which type of lot size is suitable for this type of scenario. Is there any SAP standards available or configuration is required?
    Regards,
    Pavan

    Hi Pavan,
This is not a lot size issue  , but a process issue.  You cannot choose a lot size unless you are clear what is the qty for which you expect  PR in this case?
Once that is clear,  you  will get lot size as needed
    cheers

  • How do I select the correct ram for upgrade to iMac 8,1?

How do I select the correct ram for upgrade on my iMac 8,1? When I look up information online, I believe that I have SO-DIMM ram. Do I need to purchase SO DiMM? I want to upgrade to Maverick and I think I was told that I need DDR2 or SDRAM. My model # is A1224, if that helps.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
OS X Mavericks requires 2 GB of RAM at least, but I recommend at least 4 GB of RAM.
You have got an Early 2008 iMac. You can buy more RAM at OWC or Crucial. Your Mac supports 6 GB of RAM

  • How to select the correct formula ?

    Hi all,
I intend to do one report which will allow user to select from parameter for one field, either is "QTY" or "AMOUNT/VALUE".
If the user select "QTY" then, the report will call the formula defined say cf_1q, if the user select "AMOUNT/VALUE" then it will call formula say cf_1v.
Btw, this two selection will display only one.
How should I do that ?
    Rgds
    Lim

    There are several options:
    - You could have only one format trigger that checks the user parameter and returns the correct value.
    - You could have a third formula column that checks the user parameter and returns the appropriate formula column
    - You could have two fields on top of each other and put a format trigger against each to show only the relevent one.
    - You could have one field and a format trigger against that does an srw.set_field_number() call with the appropriate value.

  • Selecting the Correct Beginning Preferences for Video in PRE10

    Hello,
I am an absolute beginner to PRE10, and am teaching myself from basic training videos at muvipix.com. It is obvious from the first video that selecting the right preferencs for the type of video is extremely important. I have videos from a vado, a flipcam, a droid global 2 and a droid global 3. I know that I can research the type and resolution of video that these cameras put out, but how do I use this information to figure out what to select from the menu that I saw in the video to start my project off with the correct settings?
    Thanks, Chris

Being new to PrE, this ARTICLE will offer some learning resources, though at least one (a great one) has been mentioned.
Setting up you Project is very important, and is the first step in learning PrE. Steve Grisetti goes into a lot of necessary details on that, in his Basic Training Series. John T. offers some very useful links on first determining the CODEC inside your Source Files, and how those details will guide you. They might seem to be a "bit much," but trust me, they cover many bases, and necessary bases, and thing will become much easier. Editing Video is not as cut-and-dried, as editing Still Images. There are about 100x the number of variables, and those are important.
This is a necessary first step, and I cannot stress the importance of choosing the right Preset at New Project, as otherwise, there will be issues.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Automatically selecting the correct network.

My wife has an G4 iBook. She has a wireless network at work and home. When she turns on her iBook at work, it automatically connects to that network.
At home, the iBook selects our neighbor's network. She has to manually select our home network. We want the iBook to select our home's network not the neighbor's.
What settings do I need to change so it will automatically select the home network not the neighbors, when at home and still automatically select the work network when at work?
    Thank you
    Power Mac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

The laptop is running 10.3.9. I do not see a preferred network list. I can select the location Home and select by default join, Home in the menu. This works from home. But when she goes to work the laptop does not automatically join the work network so she has to manually select the work network.
Only one location works automatically, the other one must be selected manually.
    Am I missing something?

  • Selecting the correct overdub?

Hi - probably a stupid question:
When I overdub a an actual audio part - say, a bass guitar - rather than rewriting the file, it apparently records another file, saving the original - which is great and non-destructive. But I'm having trouble figuring out which takes are which by looking at the region. Also, is there a way to toggle between takes in a given region? And when I edit a certain take, if there's already a part recorded before it, is there a way that it doesn't suddenly show up in place of the edited take?
Thanks. Sorry if this seems confusing. I guess I'm more used to GarageBand when it comes to overdubbing parts.

    Hi B,
This could help to understand better the program.
Overdub on an adjacent track, and when you need to punch in,
it give you more time to get ready for the take.
Then give names to the takes.
Mute those you don't think are so hot. (select the zone press M key)
Drag the start and finish to edit the starting/ending points.
(REMEMBER - you don't need to fisical cut them if you drag and the wave's hidden you don't hear it - got it?)
Zoom and make sure the edits are at zero crossing, if you do this on the middle of the wave up or down you get a click.
In the end, you can drag the overdub track edits to the first bass track,
only to discover that you could do it all here in the first place! :o)
This way you may not affraid of make mistakes, and see how tracks behave.
    cheers,
    Jorge

  • Selecting The Correct Fact Table

I have an environment that has multiple dimension tables and multiple fact tables.
I have multiple Presentation Catalogues to organise these.
    In PCat1 I have multiple dimensions and two Facts; F1 & F2.
In answers I have build a filter to restrict the dashboard to show only selected data from two dimensions; D1 & D2. The filter is built using PCat1.
The facts F1 and F2 do both have relationships defined to D1 and D2.
When I check the SQL generated by the filter (as the results do not look correct) I can see that the SQL is referencing a fact table F3 that is NOT in PCat1.
F3 does contain valid joins to D1 and D2 but F3 is not in PCat1 so I do not know why it is being used.
How do I FORCE BIEE to generate SQL that is sourced ONLY from the presentation catalogue that was selected when I created the filter in answers.
    I am using version 10.1.3.3

Excellent, that seems to have done the trick.
Right click on the presentation catalogue select properties and selected my fact table.
Need to test ALL my reports now.
    Thanks for your help<br>

  • Having a problem with noises and mouse jumping, tried to reinstall and computer will not allow me to select the correct install icon.  Sends me to xcode install

my kids computer began acting up this spring...so I shut it down.
Would not stay turned off, various noises almost continually, jumping highlights, etc.
Decided to reinstall os x snow leopard.  insert disc and icon appears.  then 3 icons with x in a column.
automatically highlights middle icon and will not allow me to select one above.  Says install xcode.
not what i want to do.
    any help?

What model iMac do you have?
What version of Mac OS is it running? If you don't know, try to give approximations on when it was set up and whether it was ever updated so we can take our best guess.
How are you trying to boot from the install disc? Your description of 3 icons with x in a column' leads me to believe that you aren't booting from the install disc, but rather you are inserting the disc after booting from the OS that is installed on the hard drive. If that is what is happening you'll see something like this, although it will vary depending on the actual version of the Install Disc that you have and how you've chosen to view the files (icon, list, column, etc).
What happens if you restart the system with the Install Disc inserted, then quickly hold down the 'c' key so that the system attempts to boot from the Install Disc. Do you still experience the same issue?

  • I am unable to select the correct paper size when printing photo's in iPhoto 11. When I select the paper size in the custom window for 4x6 prints the prints only appear on an 8 1/2x11 page. My Mac is a year old iMac running 10.8.2.

I am unable to print 4x6 photo's using iPhoto 11. When I do they only print out on lettter size paper even though I enter 4x6 in the custom window in the print size menu. My older Snow Leopard system using iPhoto 9 the paper size window offered a 4x6 paper size which worked well.

Selecting paper size in the first sreen tellis iPhoto what papery you are going to use - it does not tell the printer what paper to use - printer specific options on on the last (second or third if you customize the print) screen where you tell the print any specifics like paper source (typically printers need to you tell them where a specific paper is loaded - they do not really know the sizes in each paper tray)

  • How to select the correct routing for production order?

In table PLPO i have 4 different group numbers for a particular routing. I'm wondering how a production order, created in CO01, selects which one to use. Our base quantity is dz/hr. When I create an order for a particular material, it shows up as 290 as the base quantity. The group 1 is 400dz/hr, not 200. Why does the order choose this group number and not the group number 1.
