"Selection contains no media" ????

This is the error message I get when I select "export to compressor" on ANY sequence in the browser for ANY project I open. Restarting FCP or the computer doesn't solve anything .. strangely I can still export uncompressed QT movies of any of these sequences, but I can't send anything out to compressor all of a sudden. Help!!! Thanks!!!

Yep! When you create a quicktime movie your video is compressed.
gig
sorry to say gig, but what you say is NOT true.
Quicktime itself is nothing else than a container.
Depending on the settings you do or do not compress.
Like I said: When you export with current settings, then actually nothing changes. You only make the movie available outside FCP.
Even if you make a Reference Movie (=NOT selfcontained) then this Reference movie is a file that directly points to your orignal (or filtered and rendered) moviefiles.
To go short: As long as you don't alter settings, Export Quiktime movie does not change your movie in any way.

  • Can't export to Compressor. "Selection contains no media"

I get a message that says "selection contains no media", but there is clearly media on the timeline that plays fine in the viewer. Other projects export fine and using quicktime conversion to export works fine too.

Interesting. Losing the in and out points on the timeline solved the problem, but now what if I wish to just send a segment to compressor and not the entire sequence?
Exporting with in and out points works okay in other projects. I'm a bit confused.
Is the sequence in question not in your main browser tab? If you're someone who likes to, say, option-click bins to open them in tabs behind the main project tab - I like to do this - then is a known issue when attempting the Export > Using Compressor workflow. (Sequences exported this way must be in the main tab, not in a floating tab or tab behind the main tab).
I've never experienced this error in any other circumstance - I export Using Compressor all the time, with In and Out set, so that in-and-of itself isn't the exact cause...

  • Selection Contains no media Error?

When exporting using Compressor from a time line in FCP I get a "selection contains no media" error.
    Any suggestions?
    Charles

Your IN and OUT points are not set for in the sequence. Use your UP arrow to get to the start of the sequence and use 'I' to inset your IN and go to the end of sequence and mark with 'O'. All should be fine now with compressor.

  • "Selection contains no media" What happened??

    “Selection contains no media”
This is a message I get often when I try to export from compressor 2.. There is media.. The way around it is to copy the selection and paste it into a new project...
    Any ideas on what wrong??

This is typical symptom of sequence corruption in FCP. About the only thing you can do as an end user is create a fresh sequence, then copy and paste your clips over. However, you mention that you copy and pasted into a new project - so are we to understand that a new sequence in the existing project didn't work?
(To put your mind at ease, um, somewhat, this is an FCP issue, not a Compressor issue.)

  • Send to compressor: warning: "selection contains offline media"...

"Do you wish to continue to export?"  I've isolated multiple sections of my timeline and it still says this.  I looked the timeline over and could find no media that appeared to be offline.  I played the the timeline.  I went ahead and compressed and it took a really long time for an 8 minute show.  I have yet to look at the results.  One other person wrote in with this problem with no answer given.

I've had it, too.  Compressor and FCP X are still pretty buggy.  Report it.

  • "The selected file does not contain audio media ..."

I'm using Premiere Pro CC in Windows 7. A week ago I created a project using media from an external hard drive. I opened the project today to make changes to it, and a number of the .MTS files show up as missing. When I click on "Link Media" and locate the file -- which shows up as being on the external drive -- I get the following error message: "The selected file does not contain audio media used by clip references in one or more sequences. These audio clip references will be deleted, and cannot be undone. Do you want to continue?" I have canceled out of it because I do not want to damage my project irreparably, but I'm trying to determine the best course of action in re-linking these clips that are essential to the project. (I did apply a Left Fill to all the audio in the project, but I don't know if that would cause a problem, or if it did, how I could remove that effect. I've tried to re-link with several previous autosave versions of the project, only to get the same result.)

Not true. Select "Kind" as a sort category by right clicking the headings
Then click to sort by Kind
If your Import Settings are for Apple Lossless, AIFF, AAC or whatever the majority of your files are, convert MP3s to that file type.
I've presently got 17,000+ files in my library, and they're ALL MP3 or M4B(Audiobooks). If they weren't when I got them, I converted them.  Saves a LOT of hassels with just this type of situation. Besides I have two non Apple MP3 players that WON'T work with other file types besides MP3 so, EVERYTHING I have has to be MP3.

  • "one or more of the items in your selection contains Aperture albums that are not supported in iphoto".

I have some folders in iPhoto called 'Recovered Folder'. When I try to delete them I get this message: "one or more of the items in your selection contains Aperture albums that are not supported in iphoto".
I don't use Aperture (did install it to try it out), and have deleted Aperture App from my Mac.
How can I get rid of these fodlers?

    i finally figured this out:
fyi, iphoto and aperture can now share (i.e., access) the same library. apple details it here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5260?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
i use both iphoto and aperture, and i suspect something went amiss, at some point, while aperture was accessing my iphoto library.
this is how i fixed the problem:
i launched aperture, then (per the instructions linked above) switched to (i.e., accessed) my iphoto library. i was then able to delete the "recovered folder" and the album it contained. i then quit aperture and relaunched iphoto.
NOTE: at that time, although i expected the "recovered folder" to be gone, it was still present. but this time, i was able to delete the folder from within iphoto without the "contains aperture items" error message.
(Sparky030405, i realize you've since deleted aperture. while i can't say my method is the *only* way to solve this problem, it's the way i was able to solve it. so, you might consider reinstalling aperture in order to delete the folder, then uninstalling aperture, once again.)

  • "00004.MTS" contains unsupported media or has an invalid directory structure. Please choose a folder whose directory structure matches supported media. is message I'm getting i have a sony nex-vg10 my buddy use my cam came over log an transfer with no pro

"00004.MTS" contains unsupported media or has an invalid directory structure. Please choose a folder whose directory structure matches supported media.
when i try log transfer from a sony nex-vg10 but my buddy can do it with no problem on my cam an mac

If you copy the recordings from AVCHD cameras, you must copy the entire storage device with its directory structure intact.
I have even tried copying BACK files onto the camera and they do not show up in the transfer window under the last clip.
There is no information for those clips in the AVCHD storage device's directory index files. That means there is no way for the computer to find them.
Your last resort is most likely [ClipWrap|http://www.divergentmedia.com/clipwrap] now, unless you can get the storage device exactly back into the state it is supposed to be according to the index file.

There are dozens of entries regarding "
List does not exist / The page you selected
contains a list that does not exist. It may have been deleted by another user" and none of them are really SP 2013 so i thought I would create this entry.
I am getting the error above after creating a simple list with 4 columns.  the list is created during a new site definition activation but when I click on my list, I get the error above.  the list works if I deactivate the feature and re-activate
it.  but has the error whenever the new site definition is created.
Has anybody encountered this issue on SP 2013?

  • List does not exist . The page you selected contains a list that does not exists. It may have been deleted by another user

    Hi everybody!
I have a sharepoint 2013 farm with 5 sever. I upgraded a site from sharepoint
2007 to sharepoint 2013. I had some problems to install and configure workflow manager and register it. but by now I found problems and I can create a workflow and run it successfully. My big problem is when I try to get a lookup field in my flow. the
flow suspended and I got the following error:
“List does not exist . The page you selected contains a list that does not exists. It may have been deleted by another user.”
    Any solution???
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
Please make sure the source list of the lookup column and the list which consumes the content from the lookup column exists on the site collection.
In addition, to correct this problem the following steps should be applied:
    Delete the affected Workflow association
Go to "Central Administration" - "Application Management"
Select the affected web application and choose "General Settings" - "Resource Throttling"
Increase the value configured as "List View Lookup Threshold"
Perform an iisreset to ensure that all in memory instances of the web application settings are gone
Add the Workflow association back to the list

I have FCP 7 and I'm trying to Log and Transfer HD video recorded on a Canon 5D. I keep getting "contains unsupported media or has an invalid directory structure."

Okay... I'm still getting the same message.
    This is what I'm seeing...

    please help

Prelude will ingest only the files that you have selected (checked the box next to) in the Ingest Dialog. Can you provide more information or screen shots of what you Ingest Dialog looks like BEFORE you ingest and what your Project Panel looks like AFTER you ingest?

  • "AVCHD" contains unsupported media or had an invalid directory structure

"AVCHD" contains unsupported media or had an invalid directory structure
I brought this error message upon myself... and am looking for a way to recover the files and access them in Final Cut Express. I have successfully processed video in the past.... so it's operator error.
How did I mess it up? By treating my video files the same way as I treat my jpg files.... Creating a new folder for each day's shooting, and simply moving the files into the folder.
I preserved the CLIPINF and STREAM files.. but discard the the rest of the files.
I tried recreating the file structure but that hasn't seemed to work. I'll buy a new card, reformat it, and use that as a template for file structure, but that will take a few days.
So .. I have put the files into the following file structure, but that doesn't seem to work because I have tossed the other supporting files when I "cleaned up" my 8GB Flash Card.
    AVCHD
    BDMV
    CLIPINF
    00051.CPI
    00052.CPI
    00060.CPI
    STREAM
    00051.MTS
    00052.MTS
    00060.MTS
Have tried to recreate the file structure, but of course the contents of other files are incorrect
    AVCHD
    BDMV
    CLIPINF
    INDEX.BDM
    MOVIEOBJ.BDM
    PLAYLIST
    STREAN
    AVF_INFO
    AVIN0001.BNP
    AVIN0001.INP
    AVIN0001.INT
    So... my questions are simple:
1: Can I recreate the data and reindex the files from the STREAM and CLIPINF files?
2: If I can, how do I do it?
3: If I completely destroyed the integrity of my video... let me know that too.. I'll have lost 9 months of work... but it will keep me from screwing up the video on my next trip!
    Thanks

This may or may not apply, but I recently had this problem as well and found a solution that fixed the camcorder back to its original settings, though it only works if 1) the camera worked with Log and Transfer at some point and 2) you are paranoid like me and saved your raw mts files.
Though I had been using the camera for about a month using Log & Transfer perfectly well I used the Finder to delete all the files, which I thought would be faster than using Delete All in the camcorder. When I turned the recording on the camera said it needed to reformat its Image Database, so I punched Yes. Then after I recorded the L&T window said invalid directory structure.
What I eventually did was drag the entire contents of the hard disk off into their own folder (with the date and the camera name) and then pulled an old copy I'd made of working movie files back onto the hard drive. Then I used the camcorder's Delete All function, and then dragged all the contents of the folders with my new footage into the corresponding folders of the camera's hard disk. I was once again able to use the L&T function (even with the old semi-corrupt data), and also any new footage I record is A-OK, even after the camera has asked me if it can (once again) reprogram the Image Database.
I can't explain it, but possibly there are hidden files connected to the files we can see (possibly viewable in the Terminal if you speak Linux) and when the camera comes from the factory they make it good and when the camera tries to do it on its own it doesn't work so well. In short, maybe the camera is a little unstable.
