Selection inputs in report designer

Hello Friends,
Need some help .
I am currently working on BI7 and there is one requierment for Report Designer.
Actaully user is looking for the selection creteria after execution of the report like
I have executed the report designer application with the company code 5060 ,
then I should be able to the see the selection creteria , where as I am able to see the data.
In this case ,I am able to see the data but could not guess that what was the my selection creterai like we get in Bex Query or in Bex Anaylyzer.
So please let me know how can we check the selection input which we have given or how can we display selection input in Report designer ?
Is there any specific settion , please advice .
Thanks in advance.
Regards

Hi,
all the values in a selection screen are variables, and in the report designer is't possible to add the variables of a query, so I think it must be possible to add your selection.
But this is only possible if you first execute the report to the web and not directly to PDF...
First add a report section with different rows and columns, and then drag and drop the variables...

  • Query Selection Screen in Report Designer/WAD

    Hi Gurus,
Please help. Iam try to copy two BEx queries into one report using Report Designer & Web Application Designer. Iam sucessfull in it, however when I execute the report either by report designer or WAD, the report does not populate the selection screen, it just gives you the output of the two queires into one page. Is there a pre-settings we need to perform to get the selection screen for each of this report?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
Front-end upgrade will not help in this case. This feature "Display Variable Screen [VARIABLE_SCREEN]" was introduced in SP8 backend. You need SP8 backend to be able to use it.
You will find this setting in "Properties" -> "Web Template" (in combo box) -> "Web Template Parameters" -> "Behaviour" -> "Display Variable Screen"
This setting is defined in metadata and required an implementation on Java side (also SP8 required)

  • Writing a custom plugin for Crystal Report Designer

    Hi,
I need to add a custom functionality to Crystal Report Designer so that itu2019s available as a menu option is the CRD and should able to be selected by the Report Designer when they design a report using CRD. Is it possible to write and add custom plugins to the CRD? Is there a SDK available to do this or is there a specific method that I could use? Is this supported at all? I need to add the to Crystal Report Designer XI R2 but I could use Crystal 2008 is this is available in that version.
    Thank you in advance,

    Thanks

    Hi Developer life,
According to your description that you want to dynamically increase and decrease the numbers of the columns in the table, right?
As Jason A Long mentioned that we can use the matrix to do this and put the year field in the column group, amount fields(Numric  values) in the details,  add  an filter to filter the data base on this column group, but if
the data in the DB not suitable to add to the matrix directly, you can use the unpivot function to turn the column name of year to a single row and then you can add it in the column group.
If there are too many columns in the column group, it will fit the page size automatically and display the extra columns in the next page.

If your still have any problem, please try to provide us more details information, such as the data structure in the DB and the table structure you are currently designing.

  • Customer exit variable in Report designer

    Hello,
I have created one Customer Exit variable ( variable ready for input) for one of the characteristics in a query. However, when i execute this query in Report designer, the selection variable is not appearing. It is just taking the variable value from Exit, eventhough the variable is ready for input.
Is it  a standard behavior or am i missing anything ?
    Ravi

    Hello,
First check your variable is included in the report desinger or not
if it is included in Filters, use the T-code RSRT2 and execute. You should get a variable screen.
    Debug your query here.
    Hope it is useful.
    Thanks,

  • Hierarchy Node display in report designer

    Hi,
    Urgent please help me out.
I have an issue with report designer. I created a static report in Query designer with 2 structures. When i try to include this query in Report designer, only the last level nodes are getting into the Report designer. All the above level nodes are not featuring in Report designer.
Please help me how to make these top nodes visible in Report Designer.
Points are assured for each reply

    thanks Ajeet ,
But this is regarding Report Designer where i create appliction which is based on the WAD or Bex Query . Do we have any setting in Report designer where we can check the selection input which user has given while execution of the report.

  • Dynamic Filter Display in Report Designer

    Hi All,
We have implemented a new BI reporting tool and are using Report Designer for the output format. The problem is that we cannot see any dynamic filters or navigational level when printing as RD takes it back to the original format. To overcome this issue, we have given the same query with the variable selection so that RD always prints the variable selection but this has reduced performance.
Anyone with ideas to overcome this situation or any workarounds will be appreciated.

    thanks Ajeet ,

  • Userexit variables in the report designer

I want to use a query with userexit variables where 1 variable is derived from another variable in the report designer. This does not seem to work, behavious seems to be as follows:
    1) when variables are derived from other variables they are filled in step 2 of the variable userexit. Variables filled in step 2 have no effect on the query: everything is selected
    2) if the derived variables are mandatory, they even cause a dump saying the variable is empty
    3) if variables are filled in step 1 (thus before the selection screen), they do impact the selection. The problem is that step 1 is too early to have access to the other variables.
How can I derive variables from other variables when using the report designer?
Thanks in advance for your answers,
    Best Regards,
    Filip Ledoux

    Hi,
For example if you want use value from variable ZVAR_02 (manual entry) in variable ZVAR_01 (user exit) you can use similar code:
    DATA: L_S_RANGE TYPE RSR_S_RANGESID.
      DATA: LOC_VAR_RANGE LIKE RRRANGEEXIT.
      CASE I_VNAM.
       WHEN 'ZVAR_01'.
        IF I_STEP = 2.
          READ TABLE I_T_VAR_RANGE INTO LOC_VAR_RANGE
               WITH KEY VNAM = 'ZVAR_02'.
          IF SY-SUBRC = 0.
            CLEAR L_S_RANGE.
            L_S_RANGE-LOW      = LOC_VAR_RANGE-LOW.
            L_S_RANGE-SIGN     = 'I'.
            L_S_RANGE-OPT      = 'EQ'.
            APPEND L_S_RANGE TO E_T_RANGE.
            EXIT.
          ENDIF.
        ENDIF.
    ENDCASE.
Variable ZVAR_01 shouldn't be ready to input.

  • Viewing Report created in Crystal Report Designer

I saw many error while trying this, please excuse me to the long email below that I explain all the errors I saw......</p><p>I have some reports that were created in Crystal Report Designer (CR XI Release 2) connecting to the Oracle Database using "Oracle Server" type connection. Hi Celia
    1. Yes the Java Reporting Component (JRC) which is the runtime component of the Crystal Reports for Eclipse can open reports outside the project.  Its often better to have the reports inside the project for deployment purposes but you are welcome to put the report where ever you need it.Â
Note: To use absolute paths, ensure that the CRConfig.xml file does not contain a reportlocation tag.
    2. The JRC can't report off of Oracle directly, you would need to use a JDBC driver to connect your reports to Oracle. The crdb_oracle.dll will never connect because its not Java.Â
    3. When the JRC finds that the report is not using a supported database driver it will do a lookup to find the name of the report datasource. When it finds the datasource name it will then do a JNDI lookup for a JDBC datasource with the same name. If your Application server doesn't have a datasource with that name it will through the error you were seeing.Â
    4. I'm not sure about losing the Command object when changing the datasource but this is probably happening because the Command is linked to the database driver.
    5. What you could try doing is creating a JDBC Datasource on your application server where this app will run with a JNDI name that matches your report datasource name. If your reports datasource name is "MyOracleDatasource" then I believe the JNDI name for new JDBC Datasource would have to be "jdbc/MyOracleDatasource".
You could give this a try.

  • Writing and including our own customer data source to Crystal Report Design

    Hi,
I need to create a Crystal Report based on a locally stored XML and schema. I can do this but the issue Iu2019m facing is that some tags used in the schema and the format is not supported by Crystal. So my plan is to write a database driver which will take our format and then convert it to the format Crystal supports and vise versa. To do this before writing the driver I need to know if itu2019s possible to include my custom database driver source in to the list that is shown in the Crystal Report Designer when selecting a data source to create a report.  Is there such an API available so that I can plugin my data source to Crystal Report Designer? Is this at least possible to do or is there another way?
    Hope you can help me.
    Thanks you in advance.
    Regards,
    Chanaka

    Hi Chanaka,
Not directly. If you base your driver on OLD DB or ODBC then it will show up in those lists.
If you are planning on selling a lot of packages then you may want to contact our OEM Sales team and sign up. You'll have more resources to do customized features like this. Not sure if we can but the option is there.
    Thank you

  • Error In Report Designer

    Hi
When I'm opening a view in report designer I'm getting the following error. Can anyone please help me with this. Its very urgent for me to sort this issue.
<b>The report designer doesn't support the query drilldown.
Key figure in static filter is not yet supported.</b>
For this particular query I have used only cell definitions in rows and colums.and some Hierarchies are there in the global filter.

    Hi Harinath,
I have had this problem due to the fact I had variable in the filter in the query designer, I put fix selection in the filter then generate the report an after I put back my varibale in the filter.
    Hope this help.

  • Bex Report Designer - Large amount of data issue

    Hi Experts,
I am trying to execute (on Portal) report made in BEx Report Designer, with about 30 000 pages, and the only thing I am getting is a blank page. Everything works fine at about 3000 pages. Do I need to set something to allow processing such large amount of data?
    Regards
    Vladimir

    Hi Sauro,
I have not seen this behavior, but it has been a while since I tried to send an input schedule that large. I think the last time was on a BPC NW 7.0 SP06 system and it worked OK. If you are on a recent support package, then you should search for relevant notes (none come to mind for me, but searching yourself is always a good idea) and if you don't find one then you should open a support message with SAP, with very specific instructions for recreating the problem from a clean input-schedule.
    Good luck,
    Ethan
