Selection of BOM with Production version

Hello friends,
I have Finish product say A with two alt. BOM and Production Version 1 & 2
i have semi-finish product say B with two alt. BOM 1 and 2 in the BOM of the Product A
Now when i create PIR in MD61 for product A with production version 2 selection,how the system will select the component B
with alternative BOM 2
please suggest

Hi Mangesh,
The production version is selected based on the setting you are maitaining in MRP-4 view for Dependent Requirement Selection Method. The selection will be based on the Validity dates, Quantity i.e. based on the Lot sizes, and based on the production versions.
If both the versions are having same date,lot size etc, then the system will select the first version by default.
IF you do not want any version not to be selected then you can lock that version in MRP-4 view or in C223.

Hy Rami,
Yes you can select required Prod. Version With PIR itself.
To do the same follow below Path,
MD61/MD62 --- > Go to Schd. Line Tab ---> Go to Settings Menu --->
Production version.
After pressing that Tab for Prd. Version you will find Column for Prod. version gets Activated and there you can select your required Prd. Version.
System will explod the BOM and Recipe as per that Selected Prod. Version during MRP run.

MRP Run with production version.

I am working as a member of a SAP implementation supporting team. The client wants to run MRP with alternative BOM, not with the 1st BOM. As a solution for the requirement i created production versions and assigned to MD61 schedule line tab. It is working properly.
But the user maintain some quantity as a safety stock for finished materials also. To cover the safety stock requirement, system create planned orders with the 1st BOM, not the production version.Already i have maintained the selection method "3" in material master.
Is it possible to cover safety stock with alternative BOM.

For your issue,,
As per other expert suggested you can block the first production version but if in future you want use first production then,,
In these case you maintain production version in many way
Ex.
1. Lot size .(if production version using for specific lot)
    Maintain the Lot for both production version, so Production version 1 lot completed system take       second production version.
2. Production version validity date (If production version using for specific period )
    In this case after completion of 1. Production version period system take second one
3. Manually selection of production version (If multiple production version and all have same condition)
    Whenever you convert the planned order to production order, one pop up come and ask for                manually selection for Production version, for this you go to OPL8 and select the Manually                production version
I hope this information cover your all requirement, No need to go with quota arrangement

Processing with Production Version

We have planned order with one level BOM (Discrete Mfg. Scenario).
FERT and ROH . in production version 1.
While converting this planned order to production we are choosing production version 2 which consist of two level BOM.
FERT - HALB and ROH.
When we choose production version 2, Order reservation are generated in system for HALB.
How to process this HALB if it is to be
1) Processed inhouse.
2) Given to Subcontracting.

In your Senario U have choosen Two Production version PV-1 &PV-2 inorder to clear reservation happen in HALB u need to select the Production version -2 because from roh you are making semifin then fg first u need to get ROH in Unrestricted then Create SFG and Issue ROH to sfg then GR SFG unrestesticed Stock issue To FG while confirmation then Do GR of FG
then there wont be any Reservation.
And For Subcontracting U need To decide Which Operation And which Material is going
Operatin subcontarcting for Material Keeping PP02 in ca02 As external Key then Create a Purchase Info Record
Issue this material To Subconctarcting With Movement type 541 with refrence to PO
and receive this Through 101 GR

MRP With Production Version

Dear Guruji
I have material code XYZ with production verson-3 of same lot size.I want to MRP run in following Sequstion
Verson-1-=100 kg
Verson-2= 300 kg
verson-3= 600 kg
i am put above aqty in MF50 as per verson.
Uppear Verson BOM is AS per Following
Verson-1 -Base QTy-500 kg
RA- 50 kg
RB-100 kg
Verson-1 -Base QTy-100 kg
RA-50 KG
RB-100 kg
Verson-1 -Base QTy-800 kg
RA-100 kg
RC- 500 kg
Our verson is define in combibnation OF BOM & Recipe.
Sometime BOM one & Recipe may be more then one.
sometime BOm & recipe both change
so please guide me how the system react

If you cannot maintain lot size in production version (please elaborate why?), then another option is to create the BADI MD_MODIFY_PRODVERS as follows:
1. Go to se19 and enter your BADI name (Zxxxx) linked to BADI definition MD_MODIFY_PRODVERS
2. In interface IF_EX_MD_MODIFY_PRODVERS, you double click and put the code. This is a code sample :
METHOD if_ex_md_modify_prodvers~modify_production_version .
DATA: lv_verid LIKE ch_verid.
*--> Store old value
lv_verid = ch_verid.
IF im_menge LE 100.
     ch_verid = '1'.
ELSEIF im_menge GT 100 OR im_menge LE 300.
     ch_verid = '2'.
ENDIF.
IF lv_verid NE ch_verid.
        ch_changed = 'X'.
ENDIF.
Endmethod.
3. Activate the BADI. Test it out.

Quota with Production Version

Dear Experts,
Finish Material: A
Production Version for A: A1 and A2
Quota Usage for A: 4
Maintain Quata arrangement: For A1 quota rating 70 , for A2 quota rating 30 , no other setting
PIR for A : 100
At MRP run system is always picking production version with higher quota rating. Pl guide me why it is happening, I want both the versions will be picked as per the quota ratings.

Request you to check in the lot sizing procedure defined whether split quota has been activated.
Also check whether your requirements is less than the minimum lot size for splitting.

Demand Management with Production Versions

Yes it is possible. In MD61 when you place independent demands, switch to the schedule line view & specify which Production Version you want the demand to consider.

Production version for different periode

Hello Expert,
I have a requirement like below please suggest some solution
One of my finished material having two alternative BOM say 1 and 2 and I have a requirement in MD61 for 500 pcs in current month and another requirmnet in next month for 1000 pcs
Now the when we run MRP I want system should take alternative bom 1 for current month requirement(500 pcs) and system need to take alternative bom 2 for next month requirement(1000 pcs)
Any body have any idea about this solution with less master data maintenance for user

Hi,
       You can resolve your issue by two ways , either using lot size procedure or using validity period.
    Case I:- Using Lot size
       You can use lot size procedure in production version in material master MRP 4 view. Kindly note that selection method should be

Selection only by production version
1. Lot size 0 -500 lot quantity select first BOM in production version
2. Lot size 501 - 9999 or 501 - 1000 quantity select second alternative BOM
This will be used for every time production process.
     Case II:- Using Validity period
If you are using this scenario for specific period then you can use this option of validity. Validity can be applied at different level like BOM validity or production version validity date in your case.
a)If you have use validity start date of second BOM from next month then it will not explode in current month for MRP to achieve this use selection method in MRP4 view in material master as follows

Selection by explosion date
b) You can also restrict selection of BOM for specific period using production version validity
Start validity of second production version from second month to avoid selection in current month MRP.
To achieve this use selection method in MRP4 view in material master as follows

Automatic selection production version in MFBF

Hello !
I have a material setted with Selection method = 2(Selection by production version) in Material Master, so, I have two production version: V001 & V002, the last one is locked for any usage.
I need automatic selection of production version in MFBF , but when I'm doing the confirmation the system show the screen of production version selection with two versions .
Do you know what is missing for automatic selection works ?

Hi Vernoica ,
Good Day , PV will be selected based on the lot size and the creation dates.
It will copy the PV (BOM & Routing ) based on Lot size or Explosion date you defind in MRP-4 view i.e. BOM selection ,BY -explosion date,1-lot size,2- by PV and 3 by PV only.
If you would like to get rid the selection of PV,
why dont you try created a production version than only go to material master change screen MM02 in MRP4 view and Select 2 at selection method field.
In the IMG (OPLD) for Order Type Dependent Parameters, the production version selection is already set to manual selection. But the production version is always defaulted as version 1 which is the first one in the material master and is not asking to select the version at the time of converting the planned order to a production order!
You can also check settings in configue trans OPL8 to have routing selection set to automatic selection if you want to avoid placing routing versions in each individual material master. Just another way to look at it

How to select another BOM in Planned Order Based Production Order

Dear PP GURUS / EXPERTS,
I am using following Scenario: I have alternate BOM for FG and Maintaining Finished Material with Production Version in MRP4.
Now, When I run the Forecast based Planning (MP30) and go for Single Item Multi-Level MRP Run (MD02 & MD04) it takes 1st Alternate BOM.
Now, I create the Planned Order Based Production Order (CO40), but due to some reason - WE WANT TO CHANGE THE BOM. instead of 1st BOM We want to use another BOM For Production.
How can we achieve this.

System will create a Plan order for PV 1
IF you want you can change the Production version 1 to Production version 2 in Planned order itself ( in MD11)
Or reread the master data for production order by selecting PV 2

How to add production Version field in COOIS to selection options?

Dear Experts,
Need your suggestion for below issue raised by client.
1) As per client, he was running COOIS with the selection option of a production version. But currently he is not able to see this selection while executing a COOIS t-code.-----> Kindly guide me on its possibilities & necesary checks.

Really thanks for your mail. Please see below comments-
1) I checked the transaction COOIS & also told user to select Production Version after executing the report by giving Plant code & dates. But user asking for this field before execution.
As per your suggestion I checked in Header level of first screen but its not showing me also.
2) I am using ECC6.0 version
3) One finding from my side- This is I am checking only selecting Production Orders. But when I am selecting only Planned order then Production version can be seen in first screen under Repetitive Mfg. section.
so kindly tell me why this not showing when Production order selected?

Production version with status " locked for any use" being considered

Dear All,
while creating integration model for PDS , materials with production version locked for any use are being considered. Can any body put some light on it.
My requirement is that in creation of integration model it should not take production version which are locked for use.

Check OSS Note 854561 - PDS does not recognize any locked production version in R/3
"Symptom
If a production version is locked in the R/3 System, this change is not transferred to the related production data structure (PDS) in APO. The PDS is therefore still used as a source in APO in the plan explosion. This causes errors during planning and results in terminations when an order is converted and subsequently transferred to the R/3 system."

Selection of bom manually in subcontracting order

hi experts,
I have to do some of the products externally.
we are maintaining 3- 4 alternative boms for each product.
They dont want any selection options.
They have to select bom manually when creating subcontracting order.
Is it possible ,pls guide me

Hi,
Can i select the production version at Purhcase order lelve for item catagory L- Subcontracting Purchase order.
We can do it at Info record level , but is it possible to do at PO level? if yes then How?

Hi Samir,
Follow these steps to get your required Production version when you create PO
We assume two different vendor with different BOM for Material "X"
1.Create BOM with alternative 01 and 02 for material "X",
2.Add those BOM in production version in material master MRP4 view for material "X".
3.Create Info records with Production version (Step 2 material master) in Purchasing Organisation View for each vendor.
4.Create Source list for material "X"
5.Now go to ME21n enter the required vendor and material "X", it will automatically default your required production version.

Create 2 Production versions with a combination of say for Eg: Prod.Version 1 - Alternative BOM 1 & Rate Routing,
Prod.Version 2 - Alternative BOM 2 & Rate Routing.A different Lot size can be used for this 2 production version,or if you want to
maintain the same Lot size for this 2 Production versions then the selection of the required production version can be made by locking
one of the Production version,so that the other can be selected.
