Selection Profiles DP and SNP

Dear All ,
Need support . I have created a set of selection profiles in DP for which demand planning is being carried out . I release the Demand Plan to SNP every month .
SNP also has a set of selection profiles based on location product . What I want to make simple for the user is that only the products which have a demand qty in the Demand Planning ie qtys released month after month to SNP should be available to the supply planner in SNP book .
That is SNP Book for a horizon should contain only those selection profiles which have a forecast and need to be supply planned .
Would appreciate your support .

Hi Prashant,
There is no easy or simple way to do create or assign seletive selection profiles in your SNP planning book. If you want you can do custom development to read the data in keyfigure and then modify the selection profiles (relevant tables are /SAPAPO/TS_SELKO and /SAPAPO/TS_SELPO).
Otherwise the better process for approaching this issue would be planning by exception. Use a macro to generate alerts for those products which have appropriate demand data. The supply planner should look at these alerts in Alert Monitor and from there directly go to the Interactive Planning Table for the respective location-product combination.

Could you please support me on the process of creating about 20000 SKU's product selection profiles in DP and Product Location selection profiles for 20000 SKUs plus Semi Finished Goods Codes in SNP .
I understand the creation of CVC's in DP but how to get all these 20000 CVCs into selection profiles in the DP Interactive Planning Book .

Could you please confirm if a SAP APO DRP/Heuristic (Location) refers to low level codes if they are available before DRP run?
Basically im trying to implement Multi location heuristic by excluding Plants and Co packers/Sub contractors based on low level codes. There are several categories of products but to start with we are trying to test and see only for 2 categories. We need to run the 'Whole Model' to generate low level codes. Then for DRP/Location Heuristic run we create selection profiles so that only the chosen 2 categories of products are calculated by referring to low level codes.
The main concern here is for categories where low level codes exist DRP will use it for planning sequence but for categories which are NOT chosen in the selection profile will the system still refer to MATMOD table/Low level codes for planning sequence? Does the system automatically refer to low level codes even if we don't include the skus/categories in selection profile?
Would really appreciate if you could share your experience.

Selection Profile - what is it and where is it used?

Kindly help to explain what a selection profile is and where it is used. (The configration is Project Systems > Structure > Operative Stucture > Milestones > Define Selection profiles.
I want to understand if we still need to set this up even if we do not use milestones.

Define Selection Profiles
In this menu option you define selection profiles that you can use to specify status combinations for selecting objects (for example, orders or operations). A selection profile is especially useful if you select a large number of objects repeatedly according to the same selection conditions (for example, orders for printing shop papers, for collective release, or for creating order valuations).
Selection procedure
The selection conditions are evaluated top-down. Here the following rule applies:
Several lines following one another that are linked by an OR are combined and evaluated together. From the block at least one selection condition must be fulfilled.
AND links blocks or individual conditions. All the blocks or individual conditions linked with AND must be fulfilled. An order is no longer part of the evaluation as soon as a block or individual condition is not fulfilled. That means that with every freshly inserted AND a bracket is inserted around the preceding expressions (conjunctive normal form). To select the desired status combinations a reforming of the selection conditions is necessary.
In general one can say that OR links more strongly than AND!
Example
You want to define a selection profile with which orders with the following status combinations are selected:
REL (released)
CRTD UND MACM (created and material committed)
To do this formulate:
REL OR (CRTD AND MACM)
But the system interprets:
(REL OR CRTD) AND MACM
Orders with the following status combinations are selected:
REL AND MACM
Thus the original formulation must be reformulated by "multiplying out" to:
(REL OR CRTD) AND (REL OR MACM)

Selection Profile to Filter by Forwarding Order type in Transportation Cockpit

Hi All,
we need to configure Selection Profile / Planning Profile to consider only certain forwarding order type.
The following settings have been done in the additional attributes of the Selection profile. And this selection profile is assigned to the Planning profile.
While these 2 profiles are used in the transportation Cockpit, the Freight units are not filtered by the Forwarding order type. Are we missing anything.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi George,
There are are two types of statuses.One is system status and second one is user status.These statuses will tell us current situation of an order.
We can't change system statuses.But we can create our own statuses through status profile.With this profile we can control user statuses.
In this status profile,
1.We define the sequence in which user statuses can be activated,
2.We define initial statuses
3. Allow or prohibit certain business transactions.
Selection profiles are used to select the objects (say production orders) with different status combinations.We assign status profiles to selection profiles in BS42 T-Code.

I get prompted to select a scanner and a scan profile/preset each time I try to scan a document to PDF using Adobe Acrobat Pro.

I have a fujitsu scanner (fi-6140) connected to my computer and have the "Scan" button on the scanner associated with Adobe Acrobat. And so when I press the "Scan" button on the scanner to scan a document, it launches Adobe Acrobat Pro automatically. Then I get prompted to select a scanner/device and a scan profile. It seems to remember the last-used scanner/device, however; it still prompts me each time to confirm the scanner/device selected and select a scan profile to use. Is there a way to save both the scanner & scan profile information and so when I click the "Scan" button, it doesn't prompt me to select but starts scanning using the last-used settings automatically?

Are you facing the issue with any pdf file?
Please try updating Acrobat to 11.0.7 and check.
You might also want to repair Acrobat and see.

How to select the printer and select the ICC profile for printing with VBScript?

I try to automate my printing procedure in photoshop. The problem is that I don't know how to select the printer and select the icc profile for printing with vbscript like I manually do in the print-menu in photoshop?
Anyone has done this before?

I suggest you to create a form to invoke the report, allowing user to select the printer and then pass it as parameter DESNAME

Selection Profile Additional Fields required

I have an SNP planning book to view my resource capacities in, the selection profile is at "APO Resource" level. In the selected objects view it shows the resource and location codes only and no descriptions are available. I believe that this is working off the aggregate 9ARE and I do not have the aggregate 9ALORE available to me as this is a standard SNP planning object structure 9ASNPSA (so I can't add this aggregate level).
My question is, is it possible (via user exit or BADI) to add additional fields for display in this selection window. My user would like to see the location description rather than the code.
Any help gratefully received.

Colormunkie Photo printer profile (*.ICM and *.ICC ) are not seen by LR4.2 in the Print Job section
I used Colormunkie Photo to create an .ICM file for printer calibration. When that failed I tried changing the suffix to .ICC. Under neither circumstance did LR4.2 display the file in the menu to select printer profile. There were several display files with both suffixes but no printer files at all. I tried three times with no success and cannot think of what else to try. The first two were the same. I varied the file creation name suffix in the third. Help will be appreciated. My OS is Win 7 ultimate SP1 Printer is HP 2550L laserjet.

Glad you found your answer, Colormunki is smart enough to figure out the color space for the printer as I found out - But for quality work the latest generation of inkjet printers from Epson and Canon are hard to beat, and compared to a laserjet the quality is like night and day. The other benefit of changing up to an inkjet printer is the choice of papers available which you could not put through a laserjet.
I had a colleague that tried printing on Photoglossy paper through his color laser and it fried the fuser, and HP, while they replaced the fuser unit under warranty, made it very clear that that was a daft thing to do.
So if I were in your position I would go with an inkjet and you will then enjoy the benefits of better quality output, better paper choices and with your Colormunki be able to make custom profiles that will work in LR

Process chain for a particular selection profile

Hi, How can I create a process chain in DP to run only for selected selection profiles?

Hi Gurucharan
If you want DP back gorund jobs in the process chain, you will select the DP background processing step under demand planning. However the system will ask you to create a job and an activity so that you can attach the same to the process varaint while adding the step in the process chain.
While creating the job, you can select the selection profile and the aggregation level at which you want to run the job.
It is here that you can that you restrict your step to be executed only to your selection profile.
For creating the selection profile, you can either create the same in //MC77 or use the selection ids that you create the in the DP planning books.

Selection profile sets for capacity planning

Could you please explain me in details about different sets in selection profiles configuration (work center set, order set, capacity category set, initial set) thorugh OPA2 and how they are related to sets in OPD1 configuration (Object, filter sets).
Does these sets will effect capacity availability check calculations or they only for different display options for user.
Please provide if there is any detailed document available since I have a problem where CM01 list is not matching with overall profile used for capacity availability check while creating orders.

Yes. Please try to create status selection profile(transaction BS42) with selection conditions as
Status = DLFL and state = Active.

Removing fulltext option from selected profiles in URM

I am wondering if there is a way to remove/disable the fulltext search option from selected content profiles? we are wanting to remove it from one specific profile but not the remaining.
we are running 10gR3 install.

Assuming you are not trying to fill in the full text box "behind the scenes", it's not that difficult.
In your selected profile, in the profile's "side effects" section, set the following variable <$SearchEngineName="DATABASE.METADATA"$>
That will remove the full text box on the search page, and permit only searching of the metadata fields in your metadata model.
(It could also cause other issues if you are using zone indexing with any of your metadata, so test this solution to make sure it works as expected. The nice thing is that just this one profile will be affected.)

Selection profile - no data

Hi gurus,
this might be a basic question. Before posting here i have tried to research on my own and after getting no where i have come here to ask the gurus to help me with the issue.APO DP is new to me and i'm learning it as well.
in the planning book, we have mutliple selection profiles and when i tried to load the data from the selection profile. some selection profiles are blank and they are unable to load the data. what could be the reason? There are some selection profiles which have the data but its not teh full list.
few inputs - we have a weekly job running in ECP to transfer the materials and plants from ECC To APO. CFM1 and CFM2 tcodes in ECC.
our BW resource says that he is able to extract the sales orders histroy and open orders from ECC and able to load to APO everyday, which i kinda see in LISTCUBE tcode, but then why is that we are not able to see the data via the selection profile when we are able to see the data in listcube.

You said "we have multiple selection profiles".
But you didn't mentioned how exactly the selection profiles has created I mean for which charactorstics/attributes has created the selections.
For how many selection profiles you are not able to see the data.what are the charactoristics/attributes are there in those selections.
Have you given any of the Values for those charactorstics/Attributes when you create those selections.
Can you pls provide that information?
And also for your understanding pls check the below ways. Hope the below mentioned points will help you why the issue has raised.
1) Is all selection profiles created in PB for all the selections whether the data is loading from BI to APO BI or not?
2) Hope you or your BI guy already captured BI Report before facing this issue when your BI guy has loaded the data from BI to APO BI.
3) Now you are saying that issue has got resolved by reloading master data by your BI Resource and by doing consistency checks. Pls get the bex report download after reloading master data by your BI Resource which keyfigure the data is copying from BI to APO BI.
4) Compare both the Reports before master data reloading and after master data reloading and try to check for the selections which the data has missed in PB.
5) if data has missed only for particular skus, or depots. pls check clearly the attributes in the Selection profiles which data has not loaded prevoulsly and the Bex Report attributes i.e Infocube attributes/charactoristics.
As you said by reloading the master data by your BI Guy your issue has resolved.
Hope the above mentioned points will help you to understand completely about the issue.
