Selection tool acting differently than expected, what did I press?

I must have selected a preference inadvertently, because I'm getting some different behavior from the selection tool. When selecting a box, for example, I get two sets of handles instead of one, and this makes resizing and snapping to where you want it to go want almost impossible.
I've attaced an image. Can anyone provide some guidance?
Thanks!

You toggled "use preview bounds" on, which will include the stroke in the size of an object.  Look in the flyout menu of your align panel for the toggle to turn it back off.

  • ODI Execute Button Acting Different than Right-Click - Execute in Diagram

    We have noticed that clicking the 'Green Arrow' Execute button in ODI to begin the Execution using First Step with only one Procedure is acting differently than simply right-clicking and selecting 'Execute' within the Diagram tab. We have noticed this issue with only a SQL Procedure.
    In other words, when clicking the 'Green Arrow', ODI compiles the package together before executing which seems to make the procedure execute differently than right-clicking and executing the procedure individually.
    Has anyone else noticed this issue?

    Executing with Green arrow means the entire package would be compiled and executed. In such case if you have any special configuration for that step then that would be effective and thus might show different behavior.
    Running a particular step by right clicking on it would be equivalent to running the procedure or interface directly.
    Do you see difference in behavior if you run the procedure directly v/s running it within package too?

  • HELP-Time selection tool acting crazy all of a sudden

    Hi all, Audition CS6 is suddenly acting strange on me! I am editing an audiobook, and have to pull dialogue from a male character from another open file to insert into my larger raw narration file....so I go back and forth between these two files quite a bit, but have to stay in the place I left off on each one....normally, this works beautifully; when I switch to view a different file and go back to the previous "still open" file, the time selection tool remains in the same place I left it...but suddenly, it has started remaining at the time I left it on the PREVIOUS FILE... when I return to the other file. Wow, let me rephrase that incase that was too confusing. If I am at, say, position 02:14:12 on file A, and then open file B, and copy a piece of audio, leaving the cursor in THAT file at position 00:00:45, when I switch back to file A, the time selection tool is now at position 00:00:45, rather than where I left it.  Again, it didn't used to do this (as in didn't do it last night even!) I tried restarting the computer, and that didn't fix it. I am not aware of changing any settings, but I'm guessing I must have accidentally hit the perfect storm of keystrokes to engage this "option."
    BTW, I thought it might be the Preference-->Playback-->Return playhead to start position on stop (not that I had changed it) but that does not fix it either.
    Thanks in advance for any help!!!

    Hi Melissa,
    Souinds like the "Synchronize across files" preference got enabled.  Open Preferences > General and uncheck "Synchronize selection, zoom level, and playhead across files in the Waveform Editor"

  • Just bought MSI R5770 and card looks different than expected

    I bought this as an open Box from Fry's today.
    When I opened it up, the card looks completely different than the pictures I've seen online.
    The label on the back says it is a R5770 PMD1G and the serial number on the label matches the one on the box.  But the fan/heatsink combination is completely different.  The board layout (capacitors, etc) seems to be different as well
    I'm especially concerned by the small size of the fan compared to what I was expecting.
    Before I install it, I wanted to make sure I actually have the correct card that I paid for.  Here is a link to a pic.

    Quote from: Sansfear on 04-May-10, 19:29:16
    She slapped a new reduced price sticker on it and assured me that they'd test it to make sure it worked.  I'm willing to bet that if I go back there in a few days, that it will be back on the shelves and still have the wrong card in the box.
    I wouldn't expect anything less from them.  It was probably back on the shelf 15 minutes after you walked out.  If its worth anything, I don't buy anything open box.  The small savings isn't worth the hassle.

  • Heading style different than expected

    When compiling my source documents to HTML help instead of
    Winhelp 2000, my Heading 2 text is right justified instead of left
    justified. In Winhelp 2000 help it is correctly left justified.
    From the Single Source HTML parameters, in my "HTML HELP
    formatting - Microsoft HTML Help" window I selected "External style
    sheet based on existing style sheet". I picked a file name
    AfdAdmin.css. I thought this might be controlling the Heading 2
    format so I examined its contents. For what I presume is the
    Heading 2 definition, I saw the following text:
    H2 { margin-right:18.00pt; margin-top:6.00pt;
    margin-bottom:6.00pt; text-align:left; font-family:Arial;
    font-size:12pt; font-weight:bold; margin-top:12.00pt;
    margin-bottom:7.20pt; text-align:left; font-family:Verdana;
    font-size:15pt; color:black; font-weight:bold; margin-top:0.00pt;
    margin-bottom:6.00pt; text-align:right; font-family:Arial;
    font-size:12pt; }
    To me it appears that there are three fonts associated with
    Heading 2. (Why would that be?) The third font in the list
    indicates "text-align:right". I presume that is the problem. I can
    manually change that and save the css file, but after a recompile,
    the css file is apparently regenerated and the "text-align:right"
    is there again.
    How can I ensure that the Heading 2 is left justified in the
    HTML output?
    Den DiMarco

    Now that I've spent some time in the forum, I think that this
    probably should have been posted under Robohelp for Word.
    Anyway, to get at the style sheet to fix the problem, the
    answer was to import the help project into Robohelp for HTML and
    then modify the problem style via the menu Format > Styles >
    Heading 2 > Modify > Format > Paragraph > Indentation
    > Special. Then change Hanging to (none).
    When using Robohelp for Word, the format paragraph dialog box
    did not show a "special" value of hanging. It had shown "(none)".
    I suspect this is because the style sheet contains multiple
    definitions for this style. Next I would like to be able to safely
    remove the additional definitions. I'll look for a discussion about
    that.

  • Labview Exe acts different than Vi

    Hey everyone,
    I recognized a strange behavior while Testing an old application i build some timne ago.
    The LV Project ist build up with .NET Objects as Models and Calculationroutines. Everthing runs fine in the LabView IDE. Calculation and Models are running well.
    When I compile this Project with the LV Builder, it starts fine. But i do recognize some strange thing.
    In .net I have defined a Class A like:
    class A
    function_one( x,y,z)
    function_two(c,a)
    Where x,y,z,c,a are all numerics.
    And now it comes. As i mentioned in the Vi (LV IDE) everthing works fine.
    The call of function_one()  and funktion_two() works perfect. In the Exe-Application function_one() works, but functuion_two is not even called, as I debugg the exe-App with Visual Studio.
    So whats the deal here `??? Why does funtion_two not work??? not even called?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Thanks for the fast reply.

  • Forms on 10g act different than on 9i

    Hello.
    We installed database 10g and imported (full) database 9i.
    We also installed new AS (same version as with 9i) - so difference is only with database version and ip numbers.
    Now we have problems with RLS - role level security - so it seems. RLS worked great in 9i, but now it doesn't.
    Users can't update their records from forms, but can update them in database through sqldeveloper.
    When user wants to change some field, new entry just shows for a moment and then deletes. So user can't even write new data into forms field.
    When we disable RLS everything works.
    We use sys_context in RLS. Could there be a problem with sys_context becuse of new AS?
    Any idea?
    Thanks.

  • Selection Tool suddenly acting like Direct Selection Tool during click-and-drag

    Hello!
    This morning, my Selection Tool (the filled-in arrow) is acting like a Direct Selection Tool (the hollow arrow), but only when I click and drag on a group.  It ends up select the anchors within the group rather than the whole group itself.
    I've checked my preferences, quit and relaunched Illustrator a few times, and nothing seems to fix it.  The problem briefly went away a few minutes ago, but came back when I quit and relaunched for good measure.
    It's happening in Illustrator CS 5.1.  I have CS6, and that version works fine, but I'm waiting on some plugins to be updated for it, so I'd like to use CS 5.1.  I'm also running the latest Suitcase Fusion 4.
    Any input on this would be appreciated.  Thanks!

    Does the cursor appear correct, do you have any other keys depresessed?
    The CMD key will make selection tool into direct slection. What OS are you running, update as there was a modifier key problem through 10.6.5 - 10.6.7

  • Select tool highlights area above/below selected area.

    I have received a 2 page pdf that I am copying and pasting data from.
    On most of the pdf the select tool works as expected. drag tool over desired text, ctrl + C to copy then open word and Ctrl V to paste. However there is a section where selecting a line of text actually highlights the blank line above or below depending on the what side of the horizontal middle line of the text you are. Doing the rest of the operation Copy and then paste results in the selected text being pasted even though the area that was highlighted was a blank area.
    I am using Adobe Reader 8.1.2 and would appreciate any suggestions. Is there perhaps certain attributes on the pdf which are corrupted or prevent copying? if this was possible how could I check for it?
    Thanks in advance

    If any tool is actually acting screwy, you can try selecting the tool's drop-down menu in the top left side of the options bar running along the top and click on the small cog wheel and select "reset tool." If there was something screwy that corrupted the tools preferences, this may fix it.
    Aside from that, the better way to use the quick select tool is, rather than retrying a selection with different settings, hold the alt-key to temporarily switch to a quick-deselect and swipe across the sky (or anything) you don't want. With a few quick swipes of regular selecting and alt-deselecting you can quickly get the parts you want. It even works remarkably well at edges with very little difference between them as Photoshop seems to "learn" which edges you're trying to capture.
    Of course, don't forget the "refine edge" command to get exactly the sort of edges you want from your selection.

  • CS 5 Selection Tools

    I am considering upgrading from CS3 to CS 5 and the feature I'm most interested in is the new selection tools that can be used to knock out the background.  I have found myself doing this often with photos that have not been taken with this task in mind.  There is often poor contrast between the background and forground both edgewise and colorwise.  My subjects are often cats with lots of hair and whiskers.
    I've seen a brief demo on the adobe site and of course the image used is a slam dunk.  A plain background with lost of good edges and contrast. I've used Vertus Fluid Mask I it works pretty well, though I find I have more work to do to refine the results in photoshop.
    Has anyone used the selections tools on difficults images?  What do you think of them?
    johnny

    I've done a number of foreground/background isolation projects, and the Quick Selection Tool coupled with the Refine Edge capabilities do seem to work pretty well in real practice.  Most of the trick is in getting to know the Quick Selection Tool well, to be able to quickly get a slightly conservative initial selection.  There's a lot of very good information that's gone over VERY quickly in Russell Brown's video on the subject on Adobe TV, but he's right on the money.
    Add to that the ability to do Content Aware Fill, which is invaluable for super quickly getting rid of things in images, making up new backgrounds where subjects used to be so they can be blurred, etc., and Photoshop CS5 really is a must-have.
    But the best thing you can do is download the evaluation and use it yourself for a month.
    Be prepared for a bit of UI turmoil, as CS5 for you will be the culmination of changes to both CS4 and CS5.  Some of the UI changes are programmable, and a few you will just have to get used to.  As a CS3 user now, for example, you may find that "tabbed" view is not to your liking (it seems that most hate it at first).  But try to use it for a few weeks - it does grow on you and it does have some advantages in usability.
    Another thing the evaluation will do is prove whether your computer is up to the task of accelerating the Photoshop display (through OpenGL).  If your video card is more than a few years old and is no longer receiving driver updates from the manufacturer you may want, for example, to upgrade it.

  • Illustrator CS6 - Selection Tool drag lag?

    Does anyone else experience lag when dragging the Selection Tool around (for instance, when dragging to select multiple objects on the screen) in Illustrator CS6? When I drag the Selection Tool, Illustrator takes a second to show the dotted line. It doesn't prevent me from working, but it is pretty annoying.
    The weird part is, it only seems to happen when I create a new document using a "Video and Film" profile (any of the sizes). When I create a new document using a "Print" profile or "Web" profile (again, any size), the Selection Tool acts fine— there's no lag.
    I'm on an iMac 3.4ghz 32gb ram, so I don't think it could be the computer itself.
    Any help would be appreciated!
    Derek

    Hi Mike,
    Thanks for the tip! I tested out creating a new document with no preset profile, and it worked— no Selection Tool lag. I guess the problem I was encountering was only specifically with the "Video and Film" profile, so I'll just avoid using that. From now on, I'll stick to creating a custom profile when making a new document!
    Thanks,
    Derek

  • Why on earth did they change the selection tool key commands?

    Am I crazy? I've been using AI for over a decade, and thought I had the keystrokes down to second nature by now. But now every time I try to use keystrokes to switch temporarily to the select, direct select, and group select tools, everything is constantly coming out wrong. This is just confusing the hell out of me. Am I getting Alzheimer's already? Or did they really change something that core to how we work minute by minute? If the latter, what in the name of God inspired that?

    jonf:
    The logic is trying to keep keyboard shortcuts consistent between products in the Suite. That way you don't have to remember 4 or 5 different shortcut sets.
    You can go into your Keyboard Shortcuts and remap them to a great extent. Like I switched my Direct Selection Tool from no shortcut to Shift-A and the Measure Tool to Shift-H like in the olden days. Save your set and you're good!
    Have fun!
    PS: I hope I understood your issue correctly 8^)

  • Quick Selection Tool Doesn't Use Shift in the Expected Manner

    Generally speaking, if you click somewhere with a tool that you stroke on an image, then hold the Shift key down and click somewhere else, the tool will be stroked in a straight line from the prior point to the current point.  This is very handy under certain conditions.
    However, I was just using the Quick Selection Tool to select the shadow of a microphone, and lo and behold an attempt to drag it along a straight line by holding down the Shift key did nothing.
    It would be nice if this tool would work like all the others, and stroke a line between where it was and where it's currently being clicked if the Shift key is held down.
    -Noel

    I guess I can see the conflict (Shift to add vs. Shift to stroke), but honestly I have learned to use the Quick Selection tool with the default "press nothing and it adds, press Alt and it subtracts" setting, and just never found a use for the mode change.
    If you're curious about what I was trying to select, it was the microphone stand shadow on a white suit...  And to be fair it was just a little more elbow grease to get the job done without the shift stroke capability.
