Selection variables upon opening workbook

Hi experts,
I have a workbook, which has 2 queries in seperate excel sheets. I have set the property to refresh upon opening under the property selection > All work books. Additionally I have enabled to show last refresh date and Status date for the both of the queries. now my problem is the work book works fine in Dev but I donot get variable selection screen and dates are not refeshed when I open in QA- the transported work book.... what cld have gone wrong here ?

The Last refreshed date I have picked from Layout ( icon on Explorer command buttons )> Display text element > General, deleted unwanted displays moved the Staus of Data and Last refreshed on the top empty rows. That way i am expecting the system gererated Status data and last refreshed date...

You need to provide the same variable(profit centre) for the new query also, then it will be applicable to all the queries. And use the Fiscal year variable for new query it will be applicable only for the new query.

Image Capture, upon opening, always reads "No camera or scanner selected" (and the scanner doesn't scan. Why?).

"Image Capture" application, upon opening, always reads "No camera or scanner selected." Scanner does not scan (HP C4680, All-in-one type). Mine is a Mac OS X (Snow Leopard 10.6.7). All connections seem fine. What's wrong? Am decidedly NOT a "techie" and this is first computer ever owned by enquirer. Thank you.

Some additional thoughts.
Does the Preferences have the option to open the Scanner window ticked ?
Does the Scanner appear in the Browse Menu when you Browse for Devices ?
My Epson CX6400 which is of some age now does not show Scanner Ablities in th System Profiler for OS X 10.5.8
The Printer part uses the OS X installed Cups + Gutenprint driver.
I have also installed the Epson stuff that came on the CD which I am sure installed a Twain Driver for the scanner part.
It seems this is what the Browse info tells me is being used.
In Hard Drive/Library/Image Capture/Devices the Epson Scanner.app has been added.
In the same Image Capture folder a Twain Data Source folder is also present and the Scanner .ds file is in there.

The workbook that you selected cannot be opened. The workbook may be in an unsupported file format, or it may be corrupt.

Hello folk,
I am trying to create pivot tables from an SSAS cube, in excel (Windows Authentication being used) and publishing the same to a document library in sharepoint. I am publishing only 'Pivot1'(the default name of the pivot table you create) using the Excel Services options. Similar excel sheets (containing pivot tables) are getting published to the same document library in sharepoint - the only difference being that the data is not being imported from anywhere. The error :
The workbook that you selected cannot be opened.
The workbook may be in an unsupported file format, or it may be
corrupt.
Would you like to try and
open this file in Excel? which opens perfectly when opened back in Excel.
P.S. :
The event viewer also shows a file missing event logged by sharepoint i.e. - Console Configuration File Error: File Not Found: The system cannot find the file specified. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070002)
Any idea?

Hiding some variables from displaying when opening workbook

Hi BW Gurus;
We are on BI7..
We have a BI workbook that has one query embedded in it that displays 3 input ready variables on startup.
(Selection Options, Optional Type Variables)
What we would like to do is to hide 2 of the variables in this workbook so that only one variable (Project Definition) is displayed and (Plant and Cost Centre variables) are hidden.
Is there a way to achieve this.
We have considered personalisation but need ALL users to see only the one plant at startup and also variants. The values for Plant and Cost Centre need to be blank however and just the project variable displayed.
We can also create a copy query removing the two not needed variables but would prefer an easier solution if there is one..
Any advice.

If these Variables are just used in this particular Query. go and Edit these variables and make them not ready for Input.
You would not see them on the variable screen.

Display input variables in BEx workbook header

Hi forum,
I created a global BEx workbook template and would like to display the input variables (user entries) in the header section. On refresh of the workbook, this section should be updated with the new input variables. I am on BEx 7.0 and already experimented with text elements in the Design Mode of BEx Analyzer. However, you can only select general filter values, not specifically variables.
On release BI 3.x the Visual Basic function SAPBEXshowTextElements(selectgroup, ...) was available. You could set selectgroup to "V" (show variables only) and retrieve the variable values.
However on 7.0 this function does not seem to work any longer.
Do you know how this can be achieved in BEx Analyzer 7.0?

Hi,
1) Keep variable in default values in Filters.if u keep variable in default values user enterd value will be displayed in workbook filters.
2) Open workbook and go to design mode.
3) Delete the header text item and also delete the header picture bar.
4) Write report name in "A1".
5) At the end of report name (say H1or I1) use this excel formula =Replace(old text,start_num, num_chrs, new_tex).
With this whenever user changes the variable value will be changed in report header.

Selection variables - upload greyed out in Analyzer

Hello,
I'm trying to find out how to upload selection variables via .txt when opening a query/workbook in the BEx Analyzer but the option is greyed out in every single query/workbook.
So my question is: under which conditions can I use that option (I suppose NOT if the variable is supposed to be a single value, right?) and is there any chance that option is just plain deactivated in our system? If yes, where can I change that?

Ok, I think I've found the solution myself.
I've found out there's a special button ("Variablen personalieren" in German, don't know exactly what it's in English ("personalized variables?") ). I have to click that one in order to get into another menu where I can click on yet another button "Change Selection".
Now it's working with the following characteristics ( show: "single values" and Hierarchy: "plain list")
So thanks I guess for offering your help :-) Sometimes it pays off to just click some buttons and see what happens.
Edited for the sake of completeness: Found out that this "workaround" is nesseccary when trying to create or load a list for characteristics sorted in a hierarchy. For every other characteric sorted in a "flat list" you can up- and download directly via the "Choose from List" button. Just saying, in case someone wonders like I did.

SQL query or view used internally by Discoverer Open Workbook from Database

Hi Experts,
I am involved in developing a web application wherein I have to display the 'All Workbooks' similiar functionality in the 'Open Workbook from Database' dialog box of Discoverer. Can anybody provide me with the background query or view that Discoverer uses to retrieve this data for workbook listing? Please let me know if my question is confusing and requires more details.

InDesign CS3 crashes upon opening a file from Snow Leopard

Hello all. I'm desparately hoping someone can help me with this issue as I've spent the better part of my weekend working on two important files for work and would hate to start over.
I've been working at home in InDesign CS3. My home computer has Snow Leopard 10.6.2. I don't have any font managmenet plug-ins or programs other than Font Book. I started two new files and when I took them to work, both files crash InDesign upon opening. I don't get to open InDesign at all. My work computer has InDesign CS3 as well running Tiger 10.4.11. It is running Suitcase Fusion, which I've tried disabling and then trying to open the file to no avail. I've started the computer in safe mode to try and open the file, deleted preferences, disabled all fonts on the computer, repaired preferences, any and all suggestions listed on these forums and the rest of the internet. All of these solutions were met without success.
All files are stored on a portable hard drive. However, there are files on the drive that were created on the work computer that still open fine so I know the drive is a non-issue.
After InDesign crashes, I'll restart it just by clicking the program icon (not by double-clicking my file or dragging the file to InDesign) and it will crash all by itself. When I restart it again, it asks to repair the file that crashed it. Saying 'YES' crashes the program again.
This is a problem that just arose this morning and I have yet been able to go back home to try and open the files on my home computer. I'm praying my work computer did not corrupt the files somehow.
I'm hoping there is someone out there who can help me?

I understand what you're saying regarding removeable media. I'm tying this message from home with much frustration. I copied the file off the drive onto my desktop, ejected the hard drive, and I get the same crash error:
"The application InDesign has unexpectedly quit. A crash report has been generated. To provide us with the best chance of fixing this problem, please select Continue to add a detailed description that includes the steps required to reproduce the crash. Adobe will use this crash report to help find a future solution to this problem."
I believe this might be relegated strictly to InDesign as a Photoshop file that was created from scratch, edited, and saved on the same hard drive next to the InDesign file opened perfectly.
I would love the opportunity to send you this file to see if you can open it on your system. I have a YouSendIt account if that works best.

Selection variable for next month in RFPERIOD_OPEN in closing cockpit

Hi,
we would like to use RFPERIOD_OPEN in the closing cockpit in order to open the next period on D-10 automatically. I would like to use the selection variables of the closing cockpit in the program variant in order to avoid unnecessary variant maintenance every month.
Unfortunately I cannot find a variable for the next month. There is only SAP_FAST_CLOSE_PERIOD_P. Do you know if it is possible to base a calculation logic to derive the next period from SAP_FAST_CLOSE_PERIOD_P.

How do I get the export value of a combox upon opening a document?

I can't find a way to access the currently selected export value from a combobox upon opening a PDF document (without a keystroke event), so I'm using a very ugly trick (I have a function with a switch statement that returns a value that matches the export value, based on the current combo face value.
Isn't there a way to retrieve the export value of a combo box upon opening a document?

The following code segment is for the change event of a comboBox.
Whenever a selection is made I want to populate a Form Field with the face value of the comboBox.
This isn't working - and I can't determine why -
it appears that I am not dereferencing the text properly - but this is my best effort based on my knowledge.

How to set input ready query to display mode as default when open workbook?

Hi, i have a question here about IP query.
as my current situation, my workbook included one input ready query, therefore, when i open my workbook which default is Edit mode which mean all value can be edited.
but, i want it to display mode when open workbook, and i already have a edit button, if i want to edit the value i will use Edit button, so, i wan it as display mode when i first open workbook.
so, can anyone tell me how to set it as display mode when open workbook which included input ready query?

Aurora 11.0 crashes upon opening.

Aurora 11.0a2 is crashing upon opening. I have a HTC EVO 4G. It started to do that immediatly after updating. Any fixes for that?

We would need some debugging info. The following should help us see the issue.
Install alogcat https://market.android.com/details?id=org.jtb.alogcat
* In the all apps screen launch alogcat
* press the menu button press clear
* launch Firefox
* Go back to alogcat
* press the menu button and select save
* connect your phone to the computer using your usb cable
* open the phone's drive and open the alogcat folder
* open the text file with notepad
* copy and paste the info into http://pastebin.mozilla.org
* make sure to set the expiry to a month or more so the post is visible for more than the default of one day

Track freezes upon opening

I have a new macbook pro and the track pad keeps freezing upon opening. after 1-2 min it comes back to life and some times after it does the whole screen goes blank for a sec and thne it is back to normal... any thoughts?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Backup and launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed to rebuild the library. Select the last three options.
