Selection varuable on Compounded Info Object in Query Designer

Hi,
To identify the inconsistencies inconsistencies in the source system abt the description
I am Text Description of Application Status Source System dependent
Application Status is compounded on Source System....
There will be 3 values for Application Status
N - New
R - Renewal in Progress
C - Complete
And i had 12 Different source Systems
As per my requirment i made selection variable on Application Status in the Query..So if the user want to see all ther complete application he has to select 12 different values (App Status is compounded on Source System)
Is there any way that i can fix this in query designer so that user will have a option to select either of 3 Values (N,R,C)

Hi,
Yes, it is simple.You have to create a variable on "source system" too and put it on the selection screen. Make it mandatory and put it above the variable for application status on the selection screen. So after the user selects the system from which he wants the data, he will see only three options in the F4 help of the "application status".

Hi to everyone, I hope somebody can support me >;-)
I got a question concerning an authorization on a compounding Info Object within BW 3.5
I would like to give authorization on the compounding Info Object 0COSTCENTER. The Info Object 0COSTCENTER is compounded, as usual, to Info Objekt 0CO_AREA.
I already created the necessary authorization objects for 0COSTCENTER and for 0CO_AREA I even tried to create an authorization object which contains both info objects for testing and tried every possible combination.
In RSA1 both Info Objects are marked as authorization relevant and within the RSSM both authorization objects are marked relevant for the particualr Info Provider. In the pfcg I restrict corresponding role to particular Cost Center and generate the profile.
But executing the query I always got the authorization problem that the query do not have the authorization to read the authorization object for 0COSTCENTER.
Please be aware of the fact that the problem is within BW 3.5

Removing the compounding info objects

Hi Experts,
I am having a problem with large master data tables in the production system. There are 2 custom info objects ZPCA_Doc and ZPCA_item for PCA document number & item number. ZPCA_DOC is compounded with doc_typ and ZPCA_Item is compounded with ZPCA_DOC info obejcts. The number of entries in the two info objects ZPCA_DOC and ZPCA_Item is growing everyday. The number of entries in the ZPCA_Item is nearing 20 million records. I think this is due to the compounding of the info objects. As this was developed few years back I am not sure why the compounding was done.
I need advice on:
Is it a good practice to compound the document number & document item info Objects?
Is it possible to remove the compounded info object on these info objects without deleting the infocube data?
Is there any other way to control the number of entries in these info objects?

Hi,
It depends on requirements of queries. But, without compounding, if you have doc no and item no seperately in transactional data, then you will be able to report data as you wish.
My opinion is, if you have both of them in the infocube, then you can remove compounding. However, removing compounding object will require deletion of master data. you have to be careful

You can create ob IO.
If you want any other objects are related to this IO U can do this with Multiprovider.

Initially default value(not constant) for this info Object value should be 'K4' in Info Package
If I set data selection value for this info object K4 it will retreive records with this selection only? how to handle

suppose as your ex. if you are having fiscalyear variant in the dataselection tab then specify K4 in the from column, again the ficalyearvariant row and click on insert duplicate row at the bottom . you will get another row . In that enter Y2 in the from column. now you can extract K4, y2 values .

Collecting too many objects for info-object catalog.

We are on BI 7.0 and I'm collecting info-object catalog for 0FIAR_CHA01 & 0FIAR_KYF01.
Grouping is set to Only necessary objects.
Collection Mode is set to Collect Automatically
Info area & info-object folders are collected.
There is a Package name shown but no previous transport number listed.
It is not $tmp.
What is this indicating?
No objects are checked in the transport box.
I manually check the folder levels so everything is checked.
I create the transport.
I then go to SE10 and check the transport objects and I see several additional objects in the transport that did not appear in the collector window.
Example:
   Application Components
   LOIO
   PHIO
Why were these added to the transport when they did not show on the collection window?

Hi Dennis ,
The system is by default picking up all object types.Actaully ideally it should pick up the Info Objects from the same Catalog.
In Transport connection after you select and move the Info Object catalog for collection ,When you select Package the System is Proposing all Objects as a part of Select Objects for Changing Package.
Effectively you can click on Change Package Icon and see and for Info Objects you selected only should be present in this selection.
Package ID is R3TR anad Object is IOBJ and the object name , Deselect all objects selected and select only your objects. Then it would work.
This will fix your issue and assign points if it heps

F4 not working for info object in web analyzer

Hi Everyone,
We have one report, the F4 is working fine for info obect in BEx analyzer but in case of Web analyzer the F4 is getting stuck for the same info object.
Can you please suggest what steps I need to follow to correct it.

Hi Everyone,
Yes, value help for variable.
One of variable info object of query, the variable shows the value help in BEx analyzer but in Web analyzer it does not shows the value help for same info object.
When we press F4 in web analyzer for that info object, the screen is getting stuck for long time and not shows any values against that variable.
Please suggest experts, what actions need to take.

Unable to find my InfoArea in Query Designer

Hi all,
Iu2019ve created an InfoObjectCatalog, InfoArea, DSO and an InfoCube. The data source, transformation,DTPs are all active and the flat file is loaded into the cube. I've the data also in the cube. I want to create a query out this cube that I created. But when I open query designer and look for my info area, I donu2019t find it. I searched for Info Area in Find but it says u2018No objects foundu2019. I can't find any of the objects i.e. either the cube or the Info Area.
My question is why canu2019t find any of the objects that I created inspite of all the objects being active? How do I locate my objects in Query Designer that I created in BI backend?
Please advise.

Hi,
You need to create the Query first to Find the Info Area (relevant to that Query)
You can search the Info Area Manually (if you dont have Query also) provided You need to say New at Query designer Standard Menu.

Missing attribute in query designer

Hi,
I need some reasonable explanation for an odd behaviour. Here is the scenario: a multiprovider, say X, has an infobject with some attributes where two of them are navigational and authorization relevant, but not for multiprovider X which had their checking disabled on RSSM. In Query Designer a query built on infoprovider X does not show these attributes in the "Attritbutes tree" below the infobject unless an specific authorization be given to the query owner with value * for the authorization object. Where is the trick if multiprovider X is told not to check these authorization relevant attributes? On the other hand, authorization relevant infobjetcs shouldn't be a matter of data selection? Why are they sensitive in query designer if their check are disebled for that multiprovider?
Does anyone know how to explain this?
By the way, I'm using BW 3.5.

Thanks a lot for your reply. I opened an OSS to SAP to answer why even the infoprovider having the object authorization unchecked, in design time with Query Designer the atribute was hidden. The consultant said that checking does matter only in runtime. In design time the user has to be fully authorized for the (authorization relevant) attribute to be seen, regardless whether the authorization object is or is not flagged on the infoprovider (transaction RSSM).
Below is a reply from Erick from another BI forum for this same issue that solved my problem. It may be helpful to you too.

Not able to enter data in query designer

can any one help, i created a input ready query on multi provider contain both standered and real time cube, here real time cube not contain any data.
when i created layout by taking 2 chracteristics and 2 key figures from real time cube it give me like " no data available".
what i have to do here to enter data to realtime cube key figure

First check if you have created aggregate level.
Second check the loading behavior setting on the Realtime infocube- it must be set to "Real- Time Data Target can be planned, data loading not allowed'.
Third, query must be also input ready- in other words set the Selections (key figures) to input ready in Query designer.
Finaly, when you open context menu over the query, Bex Analyzer' Analysis grid, you can check the input ready settings for every cell if you want. If you did all steps, mentioned in the text above, input ready check box will be automatically checked for every cell of input enabled keyfigures...

Query on Time Dependent Info object

Hi ,
I am trying to create a query out of a time dependent info object.The info object is 0employee and since it is time dependent it has the date from and date to automatically in the infoobject master data. However these fields do not come up as characteristics when a create a query out of this infoobject.
Can you please let me know why or am I missing something ? I know I can get it if i use it in a cube or DSO but i want to create from this infoobject. Please help.

0employee_attr datasource have start and end date is mapped 1:1. target is 0employee? but when i check at 0employee attribute tab i have seen any start and end date attributes.
If you have it in attr u should be able to assign as read from master data.
Otherwise routine will be
SELECT STARTDATE from /BI0/MEMPLOYEE where employee = source_fields-employee.
for start date and
SELECT ENDDATE from /BI0/MEMPLOYEE where employee = source_fields-employee.
for enddate

How can we find out the info object in a query is belongs to that particular info cube? If the query is built on a Multiprovider having 4 different info cubes.

Hi,
If you have restrictions at the infoprovider level in the RKF then it is coming from that particular infocube.
Or go to the selection option in the multiprovider...her you can get the mappings of which key figure is populted from which infocube.
For characteristics you will have to look for identification tab in the characteristics option.

Universe Designer not pulling Long Text from BEx Query / Info Object

In the BEx query on which my universe is built, all the characteristics display with Long Text. In each of the info objects (RSD1), the long text option is selected in the BEx properties. However, when the Universe builds, it pulls the short text for the names of the classes, dimensions, and details that get created. I don't want to have to manually change every line to the long text, so I would love to hear if there's some setting in the designer that is causing this to happen.
Anyone know how to fix this?

How to use the Compounding Key in BPC10NW like BW info objects?

We are longing the suitable solution in BPC-NW 10.0 to deal with compounding key like BW info objects.
We want to define the dimension with compounding key MATERIAL and PLANT, but BPC-NW 10.0 doesn't support it. Therefore we just defined the dimension "PLANT" as entity and "MATERIAL" as user-defined dimension with concatinated key "Material code-Plant code" as ID.
For instance:
-[Dimension PLANT] as type-E (entity)
