Selections disappeared in layer

To eventually change the color and hue of a photo of a house, I spent an hour painstakingly selecting multiple portions of a photograph with the quick selection tool in full edit mode, saved it and closed the file. Now the selections are not showing up on the screen when I reopened the file and the duplicate layer I made them on. How can I get the previous selections to reappaear? Using PSE 9.

Also, did you save the selections themselves? (Select>Save Selections) If not, all selections go away when you close the file, whether you make them on a new layer or not.

Why are my eyedropper targets changing when I select my adjustment layer?

Consider this simple document with 2 layers and an adjustment layer:
Note the eyedropper targets. They read as expected:
Now, observe what happens when I click my adjustment layer (this is a new Levels adjustment that has NOT YET BEEN TOUCHED - so there should be NO CHANGE)
It doesn't matter whether the adjustment layer or its layer mask are selected, the results are the same.
Here are my eyedropper settings:
Proof Colors is off. I can't think of any other setting to play with.
This looks like a pretty huge bug to me, and it's not something I remember from earlier versions. Does anyone know what's going on?

Thanks for the added clarifications Noel. Can you perhaps explain to me how the behaviour of the color sampler in the info palette is actually desirable?
Let's look at my example again. When I am trying to make an adjustment and I'm looking at my color sampler targets, I _must_ have my adjustment layer selected. Target #1 is pointed over a white pixel. Regardless of which layer I have selected, that pixel is white. I can't imagine a scenario in which the readout should be anything other than 255,255,255. That's not a feature, that's a design mistake.
If I want to see, in the readout, the value of the background image's pixel, then I should hide the layer that contains that white shape. Then, that pixel is no longer white, and the color sampler readout should reflect that. Makes sense.
If you truly and honestly believe that users are interested in the color that is a result of compositing all the layers below (and including) the currently selected adjustment layer when they are plaing with the adjustment layer controls, then the UI must temporarily hide any layers above that color sampler as soon as I select the adjustment layer. This is the only correct UX design in that scenario - so that the color sampler once again reflects exactly what is "true" - namely the pixel color on the screen that it is sampling.
And if you re-read that last paragraph you will intuitively know that that would be crazy. I mean, there's no way that a user would want to have the UI hide any layers just because he's clicked on the Adjustment Layer - he probably wants to see the adjustment in the context of the entire composition. If he wanted to hide those other layers, he'd do it himself.
I urge you to reconsider this from the perspective of a real-world user and consider logging this as a bug. I just can't see any way that it isn't a mistake.

Plugin crashes when I select an adjustment layer in a layer parm

If I drop my plugin on any layer and select an adjustment layer that is on top of the plugin's layer from the plugin's layer param, After Effects crashes. What gives? I'd love to paste some code here but it even happens when my plugin is doing nothing at all. I can comment out all of the render code and the plugin works UNTIL I select an adjustment layer as mentioned.
Is this a problem with After Effects or is there a way I can fix this?
Eidt: It seems native After Effects plugins also crash when I select an adjustment layer from a layer param, not just my own plugins.

Exact same thing happening to me. Are you on CS6 as well?

When I select an adjustment layer I do not automatically get a mask.

Every adjustment layer tutorial that I watch suggests that when I select an adjustment layer I should get a mask with it. I must have something set incorrect because in my case I must actually choose a mask manually.
Any ideas?

Cs4/Cs5 look on the adjustments panel flyout menu and check add Mask by Default.
Cs2/Cs3 look at the Layers Palette options from the flyout menu.

I want to select a particular layer in Timeline. Is it possible to select a layer if I have the AEGP_LayerH? I searched in AE_SDK_guide but did not find any function in LayerSuite.

How to identify selected layers in layer panel of Photoshop?

Looping through controls is indeed a inefficient way of doing what you want!
With such a great number of controls, you could assign an appropriate callbackData to each of them when loading the panel. Next you could create an array of control IDs with all the LEDs and operate in the switch callback to turn on and off the corresponding led. A small example will be more clear:
At panel load:

For this solution to work, leds[] array must be global so that it is available to the control callback.
An additional improvement could be to modify the panel loading so that swithces and leds are created programmatically. You could have a single switch/led pair set in the UIR editor and next have a loop that duplicate the controls, sets callbackData and loads the array of led ids.

It seems the way to access the selected layers in layer panel has been changed in CS5.

Please check Panel Options > Thumbnail Size from the Layers Panel’s pop-up menu in the upper right corner.

E72 Wlan Wizard Issue: Icon/Selection disappeared ...

After my mobile phone automatically switched off while I was trying to check my SMS because of low battery, I plugged it to charger and switch it on again. Upon turning on however, the Wlan Wizard icon/selection has disappeared from start up screen/desktop. When I try to access Wlan Wizard by going Menu > Ctrl Panel > Connect > WLAN wiz., it gave me Memory Full error instead.
I've tried various method available that I can get from here: Turn off and on (it worked when the same issue happened a long time ago but not this time), deleting licenserserv.log to free up space in phone memory (still no Wlan Wiz and still Memory Full error after restart), going back to factory setting and restart but all to no avail.
Following the advice in the thread I posted before, I installed Nokia Suite and updated my E-72 with the latest software. I even try reinstalling for good measure. Still the same thing: no Wlan Wizard icon on desktop/home screen and Memory Full upon Menu > Ctrl Panel > Connect > WLAN wiz.
What else can I do to solve this issue? The attached picture is my phone info using Nokia Suite. Note the red highlight box. Is it supposed to be so?

You need to try the *#7370# reset. It should not touch anything on the memory card but you can remove it as a precaution. Do 2 backups, one with everything and the oter with only your data. Sometimes when you restore all the settings as well it brings bck the problem.
After the reset, try the phone to make sure everything is working fine before restoring your backup. If the problem comes back after the restore then reset again but this time use restore using the data only backup.

White line appears after cutting selection to new layer?

i cut someones face out using the laso tool and placed it on a new layer via cut to new layer. now it seems to show a white line around the area where i cut it? why is this?

antialias in the tool options bar before making the selection.

InfoPackage Data Selection disappear when INIT

Hi All,
Just wondering if anyone faced this issue before and/or has a solution.
I have an infopackage that is loading from an ODS to an InfoCube. The ODS has close to 20 million records.
When I do a FULL UPDATE, i am able to use the Data Selection tabe to only filter certain criteria to be pulled over to my Cube.
However, when i try to select and do an INIT, all the fields in my DataSelection tab disappears. and i am forced to load all 20 million records from the ODS.
Appreciate any input or feedback.

i thought otherwise as in the F1 for the init without data transfer, this is what is mentioned...

Org Structure selection disappear

Hi,
Just wondering, did anyone came across this problem...
I am creating a report using a HR Report Category which allows me to do selection by Org Structure. The Org Structure selection is thru' a button that appears together with Futher Selection of HR Report Category.
1. Upon selecting a Org Unit via Org Structure I clicked the tick to accept my selection.
2. The Org Structure button has a Green shade on it.
3. I reenter Org Structure again by clicking the Org Structure button again.
4. This time instead of clicking the tick to accept selection, I click the cross on the right top side of the window to close the window without making any changes to my selection in Org Structure.
5. It turn out all selection has been removed from Org Structure (Green shade disappear)
Hope anyone who has come across this issue can provide me with a solution to have the selection retain despite me clicking on the cross at the top right of the org structure window.

It is Std functionality.. when you close the popup window it amounts to 'cancelling the selection & the 'ticks' are clared.. I don't think you have an easy workaround here.. PL take a look at the code insde the function module RP_PNP_ORGSTRUCTURE & you will understand the situation better. thios is where the selection is cleared out..

PS CS3: cannot select object in layer with keystroke

Hello. I've looked in various places and cannot find the answer to my question; perhaps I'm not asking using the proper description. I hope someone here in this forum understands and can help.
In past versions of PS I've been able to select the object in a layer by hitting control and clicking on the layer. I would get the marching ants and then could use that selection by creating a new layer for it and then manipulate it as I desire. Now it looks like the stroke causes linking to turn on and off.
I very much liked being able to select the object in a layer and used it quite often in my designing. I still want to use it, but how? Does anyone know if this function has been preserved and how do I access it?

When i select a text layer and invert it (black to white) the whole picture gets inverted

when i select a text message an invert it, the whole picture gets inverted - waht am I doing wrong?

Incidentally, if the text layer is the only visible layer you will need to simplify it before you can invert it.

IMPOSSIBLE TO SELECT SPOT COLOR LAYER AS I DID WITH CS2

a PSD file with spot color layer I was able to select each layer to change its color, its transparency or its order. With CS4, all spot channels are embedded in a single layer. It's really a problem for me. May somebody help me. Thank you. Pierre-Yves

Yes, in CS4 it is all one layer in CS 5 it is on different layers if they are spot channels.
This is CS 5 so you have to either go back or upgrade to CS 5 if this is an issue.
