Selective update

Hi All,
I have a situation where an infoobject has either a length of 2 or 4.
We only want to load when the source field in R/3 has a length of 2 and when its 4 we dont want to load the record into BW.
For this the code that I used in  the transfer rules is ,
IF TRAN_STRUCTURE-TAX_CLS+2(1) = ' '.
    RESULT = TRAN_STRUCTURE-TAX_CLS.
    RETURNCODE = 0.
  ELSE.
    RETURNCODE = 4.
  ENDIF.
returncode <> 0 means skip this record
RETURNCODE = 0.
abort <> 0 means skip whole data package !!!
So now basically this code says, when there is more than 2 chars, put returncode = 4, so that it skips those records and loads all others. Instead when I try to load, this load is failing.
Am I doing the right code? or can anyone else suggest an approach for this situation?

Roberto,
I tried what you say in the start routine,
I get syntax error,
E:The internal table "DATAPAK" has no Header line - explicit specification of an output area with "INTO wa" or "ASSIGNING <fs>" is required.
I ve never down this in transfer rules.
Can you guide me as to what tables and data I have to declare ??
