Self Assigned IP - Fixed, but help still needed, please

I'll add a bit of a back story first which I hope will help people understand my issue, but also hopefully lead people with a self-assigned IP issue to a fix (link is within the post)
I’m on on an iMac 20″ Mid 2007. I recently updated to OSX Lion after having wifi connection issues in Leopard. I used to randomly get kicked off my wifi and given a self assigned IP. With Leopard, the issue was fixed by applying a manual IP, router address etc and restarting. The issue would return months later, but I got over it after a few tantrums.
Then as soon as I updated to Snow Leopard, I instantly had no internet access and I could only upgrade to Lion if I downloaded system updates. So after a few hours of searching, I toggled my internet sharing ‘on & off’ and that was enough for that fix.
But then I upgraded to Lion and again, no internet. And nothing worked for me at all, every fix on the internet I tried failed. If my airport ever managed to connect to my router I would get a self assigned IP. Or it would say it was connected but there was no internet. So I hunted for hours and eventually found this:

This did work for me. The fix is to flush your ipfw through terminal, and it worked for me instantly.
However, I now have another issue that I really hope people can help me with. It's not as annoying as the above, but my god it's still very annoying!
Here are some bullets to show the tedious routine I have to go through in order to connect to the internet via my airport.
• I turn on my mac and my it tries to connect to my router automatically. But after a minute of trying, it says it can’t connect.
• I select my router manually from the list and have to enter my password manually, even though it is already saved in my Keychain.
• It then connects and says, ‘Connected but no internet’, so I leave it for two minutes and throw things around the room.
• After those 2 minutes it connects to the internet. But no, I can’t browse the web as the browser says 'DNS look up failure'.
• So I open terminal, enter 'sudo ipfw flush' to flush my ipfw and BINGO, I’m online 5 minutes after logging on to my machine.
The router I am using was only issued to me 8 months ago by my new ISP here in the UK, it connects via WEP and has always been stable for every other device I have connected to it. But I am going to ring up my ISP and see if there is a new router I can get.
If anyone - ESPECIALLY APPLE who seem to be shying away from admitting there has ever been an airport wifi issue - has any information to advise me, then please let me know.
Also if you are having a Self Assigned IP address issue and that fix above works, give the man some credit on his blog, and if you know him, give him a kiss from me!

Update:
I spoke to my ISP to see if they had any newer routers and if they did WPA now.
I have a new router on its way and they have updated my router to do WPA!
The result?
I now connect to my router automatically after a restart. No issue there.
However,
It still can't find the internet when it first connects.
I still have to wait 2 minutes for it to find the net.
I still have DNS issues once connected
I still have to flush ipfw before it works correctly.

Self-Assigned IP fix?

As with a number of users in the community, my wired Ethernet connection has reverted to a self-assigned IP. Are there any viable solutions to this problem?

OK, so I hit this problem yesterday and I thought it was just one friend's mac. This morning I found that several macs were having the same problem on wifi. (Ethernet was OK, but not wifi.) I have SOLVED it for me - so here's the info in case it helps!
NB - I have tried most of the solutions on most of the help threads. (Once, years ago, I had the same problem, and one of the fixes I found back then did work. I think it was either deleting the wifi setting from Network Preferences or fixing the keychain or both. But this time, those fixes were achieving nothing.)
Anyway, the solution was simple! My modem-router included a setting for its DHCP server that was limited to 20 addresses. In other words, it was offering addresses from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.20. At first I dismissed that possibility, since you'd think 20 would be plenty for one house! However, I was very wrong. Here's why.
1. Yes, we do own several Macs, and some of these are connected by ethernet AND wifi, so those ones use two addresses each.
2. Yes, we own several iPhones, iPods, an AppleTV etc.
3. Yes, we had visitors in the house. My daughter's friend had brought her iPad; my parents had brought their laptops and their phones!
4. I have an Airport Extreme and a Time Capsule, both connected (in Bridge Mode) to the modem-router, so that's two more addresses.
5. Remember that DHCP leases last for 24 hours (or whatever your router is set to), so even when visitors are gone or machines are turned off, those addresses might not become free.
SOLUTION? I changed the router's setting to offer all addresses up to 192.168.1.40. (I might even go back and offer even more than 40 - no reason why not).
My wifi macs had no trouble from that point. Hope this helps!
[NB - The reason my ethernet was always OK was that those connections had been running a long time. But if an Ethernet connection had gone down, and I had reconnected it at a time when its address had been stolen by another device, then I likely would have hit the same "self-assigned IP" error. In other words, in my case I don't believe the issue made any real distinction between wireless and wired connections.]

You need to set up a simple pair of transformers, in your audio Layer.
One transformer will feed MIDI channel 1, and one, MIDI channel 2, in your arrange page, for recording.
First, create a simple Environment Object, and call it whatever you like (key splitter is good). This is so you can send one midi stream ot both Transformers.
Cable this to the following two Transformers:
The first Transformer will FILTER all notes BELOW your set parameter, ie whatever note you decide. This is the TOP of the keyboard split. Hook this up to your first Audio Instrument channel. this would be the melody instrument.
The second transformer will FILTER all notes ABOVE your set parameter, ie whatever note you decide. this is the BOTTOM of the keyboard split.Hook this up to your second Audio Instrument channel. This would be the Bass instrument.
In the Arrange Page, create your two instruments, and then select the TRANSFORMERS as the Instruments to be active. In other words, you'll see in the Arrange page "Transformer #1, Transformer #2" instead of the actual instruments. This is so you can record through them, and then the VIs just playback the correct notes.'

The support I have had thus far on this topic has been more frustrating than help full. One experienced member admits that this is complicated not impossible.
I know through screen shots that the settings can be shown as this was what I saw in the original post to somebody else which drew me to pose my problem about transformer.
As before all I need is someone who knows Transformer and is confident in its workings. I have tried but I cannot make head nor tail it would be so much more easier if I could get help with this so then I would have a correct base for getting more confidence with tying other operations.
Cubase has a logical editor which works the same way I am coming from Cubase 3.1 from the Atari days and still I couldn't get my head around that and this was 1990. no matter how many books I read and believe me I have read quiet a few along with related manuals.

Here's what you can do:
Go to your Environment Layer.
Go to the "Click & Ports" Layer.
Create 2 new transformer objects, from the menu inside the layer window (not the main menu, but the one inside the window)
Connect both of these between the INPUT object, and the Sequencer object.
Now... you need to take out a notepad, and write down some settings.
On the first transformer, you will make it FILTER out ANY MIDI from channel 2. and pass all else.
On the second transformer, you will ONLY ALLOW MIDI data coming in from channel 2, and NOT ALLOW anything else to pass.
Instead of trying to get you a screenshot, please just open the environment and create an EMPTY new Layer, and call it "practise layer" or the like.
There create some new transformer objects, and FAMILIARIZE yourself with them. then you will be "transformer savvy"
They are actually very very useful object for dealing and routing MIDI of all sorts. And since you are now needing this, it would behoove you to learn to use this feature of Logic.
And no, it is not that I do not want to post screenshots, I am actually quite busy, and it would take me longer to have you learn through the forum, than for you to just do it. you need to stop fearing the environment, that's all...

Read every font topic, but I still need help

I have been at this for about 4 hours, and I need help.
I read Flash Help and every font forum topic, which say
Static Text need not use embedded fonts.
Links to .fla and .swf files below.
Everything shows up fine in 'Control/Test Movie'
Using Arial font, I cannot see static text in my test .swf
file.
I then embedded Arial (24 pt, bold, italic - 'ArialEmbedded'
in the library).
Using that font on Static text, can see the text, but not in
Arial. It is in TimesNewRoman, regular, non-italic.
I then used the embedded font in text I described as dynamic,
but could not see any text.
Everything shows up fine in Control/Test Movie.
I get around this by building .gifs using graphics packages
and importing them,
but the results are less than desirable. (see layer ".gif
from outside appl."

I can't see a quantity here and you should avoid NATURAL JOINs like the plague:
SELECT CUSTOMER#, FIRSTNAME, LASTNAME, SUM(QUANTITY)
I'm not exactly sure what you're attempting with the
HAVING SUM(QUANTITY)=ALL
(SELECT MAX(SUM(QUANTITY))
FROM ORDERS NATURAL JOIN ORDERITEMS GROUP BY CUSTOMER#)
GROUP BY CUSTOMER#, FIRSTNAME, LASTNAME;bit.

FROM BOOKS
GROUP BY TITLEThis doesn't do what was asked, it just selects the average cost of each book - which will be exactly the same as the actual cost of each book. You need to use a sub query here.
8. Provide a SQL statement that displays each book CATEGORY in the database. The category should only appear once in the output.
The title does not need to be in the output here and you need to use distinct.

Please Dashboard app. is not stable on the screen. It appears and Disappears randomly on the screen. Disabling it would solve my problem but I still need it. What should i do? help me guys

Did you try rebooting the iPad? You will need to have some battery power for this.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

I read your question as if you can remove the coloured back of iphone5c and put on another one
if so then no I believe the rubber ones with colours and holes I linked to can be switchted between but I don't believe the back coloured part of iphone5c comes off

'Hi Teebow,
You need to set up a simple pair of transformers, in your audio Layer.
One transformer will feed MIDI channel 1, and one, MIDI channel 2, in your arrange page, for recording.
First, create a simple Environment Object, and call it whatever you like (key splitter is good). This is so you can send one midi stream ot both Transformers.
Cable this to the following two Transformers:
The first Transformer will FILTER all notes BELOW your set parameter, ie whatever note you decide. This is the TOP of the keyboard split. Hook this up to your first Audio Instrument channel. this would be the melody instrument.
The second transformer will FILTER all notes ABOVE your set parameter, ie whatever note you decide. this is the BOTTOM of the keyboard split.Hook this up to your second Audio Instrument channel. This would be the Bass instrument.
In the Arrange Page, create your two instruments, and then select the TRANSFORMERS as the Instruments to be active. In other words, you'll see in the Arrange page "Transformer #1, Transformer #2" instead of the actual instruments. This is so you can record through them, and then the VIs just playback the correct notes.

Logic can only show the parameters for one object at a time (the selected object) so a screenshot will do you no good, as it can't show all the parameters at once.
Have you tried working through this? Or did you just not understand it without trying? The instructions, while not explicit, are clear enough in principle. Work through it, and if there is anything you don't understand, post back for clarification. That way you might just become a little more environment savvy...

Ipod 'fixed' but battery still doesn't work!!!

please help..
a few weeks ago i sent my ipod mini to apple to be fixed because i had problems with my battery. I charged it fully and then it ran out within 2 hours max and it showed the battery and ! icon. i tried loads of stuff they suggested on the website but eventually sent it off.
i recently got it back and nothing has been fixed. i still have the same problem. I don't know what to do!!?? my warranty only continues for 7 more days so i have to be quick! how do i get the whole ipod replaced?

I guess your definition of "Fixed" is different from most peoples...
The iPhone is not user servicable. Now that you've attempted to repair it yourself, Apple won't touch it.
It's impossible to say what else might be broken, and since there are no legitimate sources for iPhone parts (Apple does not sell iPhone parts at all), you're going to have to either try looking for advice somewhere like ifixit.com, find a competent repair shop, or buy a new phone.
Had you not attempted to repair it yourself, you may very well have been able to get the phone replaced by Apple for $199.

Video help STILL needed ¬_¬

I have the latest software. I have updated my Ipod and restored and all that kerfuffle and STILL my videos show up on my library but NOT on my ipod. Would some one like to help me please

the iPod tab. Then hit the videos tab. What option is
checked?
