Self made or Custom albums 'Matched' in iTunes Match

So i signed up for itunes match over the weekend. and i've sat down to night to upgrade the quality of my match songs and i've noticed somthing very weird....
A long time ago before iTunes and still had a mini disc. I created an album i dubbed 'Roxy Classical' which is just a radom collection of classical songs that I liked at the time. Over the years and mutiple PCs (and now Macs) this album has been transfered between libraries maybe half a dozen times.
It's not a clone of an album that's avabile to and the artwork is some random image from google, and the tracklist was something that i picked, and looking at it years later the spelling isn't perfect BUT half the tracks shows as MATCHED in itunes.
I have deleted and re-downloaded a couple of tracks and sure enough it upgrades perfectly.
Anyone have any idea how that's happned?

The matching is completed for each Song by acoustic finger print - so the iTunes Match service listens to your music and searches for an adequate quality of match in the iTunes store - this is at best an inexact science.  It does mean that however you acquired your music provided you are authorised to play it there is a chance that the iTunes Match service will be able to 'match'.
Whilst this is very good, you will need to check that the matched Song is indeed faithful to your original - on occassion you may find a somewhat different Song has simply inherited your local metadata and is pretending to be the original, once you listen, it may be different!
Essential always to start and complete with a secure backup such that you can recover the true original Song if necessary!!
Sadly at present it is not possible to force an 'upload' or a 'match' - this makes the current service an acquired taste ... outcomes will vary depending upon the Songs in the source library.  For many the results are very good.

  • Can I force iTunes not to embed custom album art, but store it separately?

(I only use iTunes to manage my 16GB iPod nano 5th gen and update my mother's iPad.)
Now as far as I am aware, when iTunes downloads album art, it stores it separately from the audio files, and thus several tracks share the same image file for their artwork. This seems economical to me, considering the space limitations that most Apple devices have.
But if you set your custom album art, iTunes embeds it into the audio files themselves, so each has a copy of the artwork, and thus the total size of artwork increases about tenfold. Now this is okay when storing the audio files on personal computers, but is quite stupid for devices with limited storage capacities. It really depends on the size of the artwork and the bitrate your audio is encoded to, but I calculated I could put an extra 300MB of music onto my iPod if I could just somehow force iTunes to store my custom album art separately, not embed it into the audio files by default.
Does anybody have an answer/solution to this problem, or do I have to look beyond iTunes to do this?
    Thanks!
(Note that I do not wish to use the iTunes download artwork service, as it is quite unreliable and the artwork is of low quality.)

  • HT4914 can i select albums while using itunes match or do i have to select individual songs.  also if i can select albums can i scramble the songs?

Can I select albums while using itunes match or do I have to select individual songs.  If I can select albums will match shuffle?

    Hello georgeandedie,
It will do your entire library, from there you can play music by albums or just by songs and can shuffle the songs as well.

Since upgrading to the newest ios 6.1.2 itunes isn't showing my app list on the left side of the screen, nor does it show all of my self made movies, only the purchased ones. Anyone else experiencing a similar problem? The iTunes store and most of the other features show up but other normal features seem to be missing too. I wish I hadn't upgraded. Anyone else having this problem????

If you are talking about iTunes on your computer use the iTunes View menu item, "Show Sidebar".
If not, I have no idea what you are describing.

  • Itunes 10.3.1: Custom Album Artwork does'nt work.

I have upgradedl to iTunes 10.3.1 and then I no longer can make custom Album Artwork.
My Musicfiles is WAV 44.100 khz and i use a PC with Windows 7.

I don't understand how the file type affects the album artwork.
I have plenty of .WAV files with album artwork.  It appears to be a bug in the latest update to 10.3 or am I missing something?

  • Missing album art in iTunes Match

Ever since I joined iTunes Match album art is missing from several albums. I have read that this is a glitch in iTunes Match, but after spending a lot of time carefully curating a very large music collection (including scanning in art work for the albums that I had purchased outside of iTunes matching the size of the art work for albums purchased in iTunes), this is frustrating enough that I will not renew my iTunes Match subscription next year if it isn't fixed. Does anyone know if there is a fix for this yet? I appreciate any feedback. Thanks in advance.

I solved the problem selecting all the songs of an album, getting information pannel (command i) and dropping a new artwork found on Google.
Choose an artwork smaller than 1000x1000.
    Thats it.

  • Removing iTunes supplied artist album artwork from iTunes

Recently bought a new iPhone 5S and am now using it to store my music instead of my iPod Touch.
All my music is in a self-made directory in Apple Lossless, so I manually transfer/have iTunes auto convert all the songs onto my phone.
Everything seems to be working fine, however, for the 5 or 6 songs I bought on iTunes in my life (and no longer have any of the songs), iTunes has somehow taken the album art from those old albums and applied them to my new songs via artist association, and i'm not sure how to get rid of them.
For example, say I bought Michael Jackson's Thriller album. I don't have the Thriller album on my music collection, but instead bought the Best Of CD and made rips of that. When I load the Best Of into my phone, going to the music app and browse to Michael Jackson, instead of showing no album art, it shows the art for Thriller. So somewhere iTunes is storing album art for downloaded music, and auto-associating them with the artists in general, regardless if the album is there or not...
Edit: Just to note I do not use any album art at all, so the ultimate goal is to have zero album art for anything. Also, yes, I did check individual tracks for album art, every music track on my iPhone has no embedded album art.

    sbeachi,
Welcome to the forums! I have not been able to find a way to have just the Album artwork update. You can try removing then re-adding the album/Songs through iTunes, for that is the way I was able to add artwork for my music that didn't sync correctly.
    Hope that helps,
    Weston

  • Won't grab correct album art, even though album is on iTunes store

Most of my albums get the correct art just fine, but a few give me trouble:
    1. Nine Inch Nails - Year Zero: The album is on iTunes, but it won't grab the art at all.
    2. The Clash - London Calling: It grabs a cover of London Calling, but a different version, with the title in the middle instead of in the upper left corner.
    3. The Strokes - Is This It: grabs a totally unrelated image of the band members.
The artists and title tags match the ones in the music store, so I don't know why it's not grabbing the correct art. What should I try?
    iMac G4   Mac OS X (10.4.9)
    iMac G4   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

iTunes is not always spot on with the correct artwork. So for the problem ones just get your own artwork and add them to the files. Google, then click the images link above the search box, then type in artist and album name and you shoudl find a few thousand version of the album cover. Save one to your desktop then drag and drop it into the artwork area you want to fix. Select the whole album at once first.

  • Not all songs in album upgraded to iTunes Plus

I have many tracks that weren't upgraded after selecting "Upgrade to iTunes Plus" (actually, hundreds of them). I understand that not all tracks are currently available. Oddly, 3 tracks from the Aerosmith album "Big Ones" were not upgraded, yet all of the other tracks were. I have many other albums that show iTunes Plus eligibility in the iTunes Store, but were not upgraded. There does not seem to be any way to check for additional upgrades (the option disappeared from the iTunes main screen after upgrading). It sounds like there are many of us out there with the same type of issue. What is the deal?

Apparently sometimes, for various reasons (replacement of a track in the Store with another copy, slight changes in the release identification, etc.) the link between the track and your Purchase History can break, which will result in the track not appearing as eligible for iTunes Plus upgrade even though it exists as Plus in the Store.
Contact the iTunes Store Customer Service department using the form at the bottom of the Purchase Issues FAQ web page (there is no category specifically for this issue, so I'd suggest just picking one under the Purchases - problem area) and explain the problem to them. It may take a couple of email exchanges to get past the "form" email responses, but eventually they should work out a solution for you. You may need to provide the track name, artist and order number so they can confirm the original purchase.
    Regards.

  • Can't Drag Album Artwork into iTunes

For some reason I can no longer drag album artwork into iTunes. If I click on a song or on a group of songs and there is no artwork available, I can no longer drag album art to the "Drag Album Artwork Here" in the bottom left corner. Same goes for when I right click and say "Get Info". It will show a little green plus sign as I drag the picture over the drop area but nothing happens.
I'm running 10.4 and have made sure that I have read and write privledges to all of the specified folders.
    Anyone have any other ideas?

Where are you dragging the images from? It might just be that particular site, if you're using the same location time and time again. I use Amazon music when looking for album art for iTunes and generally have good luck with it.
Are you trying to drag artwork for songs that already have artwork associated with them? Sometimes you might want to clear the downloaded artwork for those tracks and then drag in the new image. I've run into this in cases where I've downloaded a single track from iTunes but then used something else to complete the album.
Beyond those suggestions, you might want to try re-creating your iTunes Library, per the steps in this document. Note that some data may be lost, such as play counts and date added.

  • Album purchased in iTunes does not stay listed in iTunes

I recently purchased and downloaded an entire album from the iTunes store. Every time I start iTunes, I find that the album is not listed, so I use the "Add folder to iTunes" option because the album does exist in the "My Music" folder. The next time I start iTunes it's not there anymore and I go through the same process to add it back to iTunes. Any idea why this is happening and what I can do to fix it?

iPod sort order is Album by Artist irrespective of choices made in iTunes. You can create separate playlists with your selected ordering, but the Cover Flow & Artist menus will always sort albums alphabetically. However, since both Cover Flow and the Artist>Album menus only allow you to play one album at a time it's not necessarily going to make as much difference as you might suppose.

OH my god SOMEONE PLEASEE help me. I closed itunes so maybe it could work again now it looks like its never downloaded it dissapeared from my library. I went to the album it looks purchased but it doesnt have a download button. So what you basicly did is you made up a problem. You failed to help me. You stole 0,90 and still dont care to answer me back. Not community nor if there is any workers here, themselves. I wanted to support one of my favorite singers and this is what I get in return.

    Welcome to the forums.
You must paste the album art into each and every song on the album -- in iTunes, select all the songs, press Ctrl-I, and go in and paste in the album art picture. This is the only way to do it. Make sure the album name and artist is the same for each song while you are at it (if not it won't work either).
Now sync this to your iPhone and it should show up correctly for that album.
