  • What methods in JComboBox controls item matching when user types?

    Hi,
JComboBox has default behavior that matches String items when user types the first letter in JTextField. The problem is: it always matches the firts letter of an string item; if cannot match an ithem with first 2 or 3 letters typed by user.
For example, "swing" should be matched if user types "sw" or "swin", etc..
I am wondering what JComboBox methods controls this behavior so that I can override to change it.

From your addendum I'm guessing you are wanting to do this with a JSP or servlet. If so Ali's suggestion won't work becuase he's working with Swing components. It is always helpful if you specify the technology you're using: JDeveloper is a tool for writing many different types of Java programs.
If you want to produce pop-up windows in JSP then you have to use JavaScript.
If you're using DataWebBeans and want to use JavaScript you have to change (ie subclass) the WebBeans so that they have HTMLFieldRenderers that allow you to attach Javacript to a TextField (or whatever). This is not a small job but is worth it for the flexibility you'll gain.
If you're using datatags I should imagine it's easier because you can add JavaScript functionality directly to the HTML input fields e.g. in the Input page, but I imagine you'll still have to subclass your own datatags to do the same for the Update pages.

  • Stop string from ending when user types quotes...

i have a textarea on my form, and it submits to a servlet.
problem is, when a user types in a double quote, the info gets cut off.
I used single quotes in the servlet to fix this, but then if the user enters single quotes, the info is cut off.
does anyone know how i can make sure that if a user enters either single or double quotes the info they type does not get cut-off?
    Thanks!!!

His/Her question is very hard to understand, i think.
There are many ways to produce a fault like this.
The most common misstake is to process the Information (textarea-content)
to a Service which can't handle qoutes in the Query-String (SQL-Servers), because
they're are using it to get the beginning and the end.
    That would "cut off" Information.
In this case you have to replace all the qoutes with something the Service doesn't identifys as an Tag for itself. (String = String.replaceAll("\"",""");)
To show the "real" Information, you just have to "switch-back" your String at the Time when your retrive it. (String = String.replaceAll("&qout;","\"");)
    4 example ...
    I hope i got it. ;-)

  • Screen hangs when user types in some text in file upload component

    Dear All
I am using file upload component in webdynpro java in a custom application and added some validation logic on the file
selected. This is being used to upload jpeg files to KM repository. Now the issue is if user types some text in the file
upload input field and click on upload button the screen hangs and it goes to infinite loop. It seems that the framework is not able to accept and check the arbitrary value entered by user.
Can anyone tell me how this can be sorted out?

I have also faced the same issue and to me it seems an issue with the UI element itself. Please follow the following threads for more information:

  • JFormattedTextField's lose keystrokes when users type quickly

    I have several JFormattedTextField's in a JTable: bank #, branch #, checkdigit, account #.
Each field has a validity check that is done when the user presses TAB, or when field is full and we automatically try to advance focus. Each check takes about .1 seconds, but can take more.
These ladies type amazingly fast! Sometimes a keystroke or more gets lost, probably while we're in a check or focus is changing. What I can do about it? Is there a magic way to tell the JVM to hold keystrokes until a check finishes? I saw a few hints in KeyboardFocusManager, but it looked complicated.
    Thanks,

    Hello!
We have EP 6.0 (SP 18) and ABAP Backed 6.40 (SP21).  UME is connected to the backend system for user managment.
When we try to log on to EP with a user that is locked by the system admin in the backend, the message shown is "User authentication failed".
Should it be possible to show a message as "User locked by system admin", for the user to know the reason?

  • Find "Other" search fails when "User" folder selected - bug?

I have several partitions on my disk.
On my boot partition, I have 2 .aiff files in a sub-directory of my Documents folder. Using the Finder's "Find" command (not spotlight),
select search for File Type "other" and "AIFF Audio" from dropdown
select the "Users" folder as the only folder to search - "Find" shows no files
select only "Home" to search - finds them.
select both "Home" and "Users" to search it doesn't find them.
select the partition (Called "OSX") it finds them.
select partition "OSX", folder "Users" and "Home" - it finds them
also - I can get Finder to reset with double-click:
With a search that finds them, select the file so its path appears in the panel at the bottom of the window.
Modify the Find to search only "Users". The window clears and no files show, however the path of the previously selected file remains.
Double click on the path name, the Finder resets ( - in other words, quits, closing all open FInder windows, then restarts without reopening any of those Finder windows)
Is this a bug or what?

In short, try re-indexing your drive or home folder. You can do his by opening Preferences->Spotlight, select the Privacy tab. Add your hard drive or your home folder to the list by drag and drop or hit the plus symbol at the bottom. Wait a second and remove the drive or folder. It will take several hours for the drive or folder to re-index but the find/search command will start working correctly right away.
    Hope this helps.

  • Portal authentication failing intermittently post self registration

We are in the process of upgrading from EP6 to EP7 and have hit a critical authentication problem that is proving difficult to diagnose and resolve.
Our self registration process leads straight into user logon:
    1) the user fills in the registration form with their user ID, password etc and selects Submit which creates the user ID in our R/3 user store
    2) the user is presented with text informing them that their registration has been successful and a Proceed button which when selected authenticates them with the portal with their newly created user ID
Step 2) above is working intermittently in our EP7 system - sometimes the process works exactly as expected others an exception is raised (com.sap.security.core.logon.imp.UMELoginException: USER_AUTH_FAILED).
It seems as though the cause is that the user creation process has not completed fully before the logon step.
We tried implementing a wait step (10 seconds) following selection of the Proceed button which reduced the incidence rate of the problem but didn't cure it entirely.
A possible contributing factor is hardware performance as we are testing the upgrade on an impact analysis system which is not as efficient as our live portal landscape.
I've pasted the code which performs the authentication and extracts from the DIAGTOOL portal logs below which show the login module configuration (SAP standard I believe).
Any help/advice what to try next would be greatly appreciated as we are running out of ideas.
    Thanks,
    Alan

  • OIM 11g self registration

    Hi,
i have a requirement as follows
There are 2 type of users (patient and doctor) we need to show different self registration pages to both the users.
can we achive this requirement ? if yes how ? please let me know the steps.
    Thank you.

I think you can but that would definitely require a cutom UI using ADF. Following could be the possibility:
    - As the user is not yet logged in, so there would be no way to identify as who the user is (patient or doctor) ?
    - So you may have one field with drop-down type patient/doctor at the top, once the user selects that field, you can show different attributes there after
    - As how to do it, refer to the OIM11G documentation for customizing UI

  • Roles for user in supplier self-registration

    Hello everyone,
I was checking the configuration guide for Strategic Sourcing and for Servece Procurement and I have a doubt.
For supplier self-registration is needed an anonymous user, but in the guide for Strategic Sourcing says that the roles for this user are SAP_EC_BBP_CREATEUSER and SAP_EC_BBP_CREATEVENDOR, however, in the guide for Service Procurement says that the roles are SAP_BC_BASIS_MONITORING and SAP_EC_SUS_ADMIN_VENDOR
    What are the right ones?
    Thanks,
    Ivá

    Hi,
The user should  have the  roles: SAP_EC_BBP_CREATEUSER & SAP_EC_BBP_CREATEVENDOR.
This user is maintainted in ROS client BSP service ROS_SELF_REG in Log on Data
with ROS client, user ID and password.

  • Self registration and alias

    Hi community,
as I've been told, I move my thread to this place, hoping to have much answers
this is the situation I am facing : on a 7.01 portal SSO-connected to a R3 back end, my datasource is ABAP, and I have activated self registration onto my portal.
Users are well created in ABAP, but my difficulty is here : we work with alias, and the created users with self registration have no alias, the alias field is not automatically populated with the provided logon id (as it is made with a java datasource...).
A simple trick would be to populate the Alias ABAP field with the logon ID or the email address entered in the self registration screen, but I have no idea on how to do that...
Does anyone has a hint to help me the way to find in which configuration searching this automatical alias population ?
    Thanks a lot.
    Fabien.

Seems to be possible to create a user exit in CRM to do that, but not in the portal directly.
