Sellective Songs Timed Out / stopped (err = -3259)

I can download some iTunes w/ no problems, but certain songs keep giving me problems. I just can not get them to download. I buy the song and it will time out. I get a popup error that says "There was a problem downloading "Name of Song" The nework connection timed out." Under status it says "stopped (err = -3259)". It's really frustrating because not all of the songs I buy do this, only certain ones. I can exit iTunes, go to the Downloads section, pull the songs up, and try to resume; but they just error out again.
This is my work computer and I'm leary of messing w/ settings and firewalls because I don't have much knowledge of what I'm doing. Can someone please help me? The more detailed the instructions the better.
All help is appreciated.

USB 2.0 ...
when iphone not plugged in can still seem to 'resume' the download in itunes -> store -> downloads -> iPhone software update. Still having same problem though... managed to get as far as 15Mb, thats it.
Virgin Broadband 3G (Optus 3G) which is known to be flaky (# of drop-outs) but why wouldn't itunes/apple have a download manager that allows downloads to keep downloading during internet connection short interupts. If I click 'pause' in the downloads screen, it goes back to 0Mb downloaded... so resume/pause doesn't work. Have probably tried over 20 times now...

  • What does it mean "stopped (err = -3259)"

I talk to provider and he said there is no problem! What am I do? What is that mean all this errors?

Well, I subscribed to the podcast from that link, and downloaded and played the latest episode without any difficulty at all. Which doesn't really get us any further: you can download everything except that podcast, it would seem, and I can download it; so there is nothing wrong with the podcast but no global (widespread) fault at your end.
The only oddity I can see is in his 'enclosure' tags, e.g.
    <enclosure url="http://feeds.churchmediadesign.tv/~r/churchmediadesign/~5/TgUCgiNIrzk/Cmdt v-ep125976.mp4" length="1" type="video/mp4" />
Where it says 'length' this should be the file size in bytes; you will notice he says '1' - 1 byte... - if you were using a different operating system from mine (I'm on 10.6.6) I would wonder whether that version if iTunes was taking the 1 byte literally and stopping downloading on that. Are you using iTunes 10? I don't know what iTunes 9 would do - iTunes 10 has no difficulty with it for me.
You could try contacting the author again and asking him to put the correct value in and see whether that helps.

You'll have to check your security software settings, iTunes has to be able to connect to Apple servers during the download process.

  • Podcast download error - Stopped (err = -3259) and sometimes a 403 error

I've am having some issues downloading a podcast I pay for. The podcast orignailly was automatically downloaded via the providers autodownloading tool. It stopped working.
There was another option to download through iTunes and that isn't working either.
The download starts but times out after a minute or so. The errors are stopped = -3259 or stopped = 403. The 403 error happens less frequently.
I tried restarting the download and that worked for the first couple of podcasts, but has since stopped.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes and tried many of the goofier but safe sounding things I have read on message boards. Many of the things I'm reading are from 2007 and 2008 so I think it's not related to this issue.
Not sure if it is related but also having issues viewing streaming video. Seems to stall out after 3-5 minutes.

Avast Anti Virus 4.8 Home edition
    iTunes 8.2.1.6

    Additional information.
I have restored registry settings to a date where I know that I was receiving mp3 downloads.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled itunes
I am able to download other files including Itunes. I don't think it's a size issue. Itunes was a 70+MB file.

  • Songs timing out

When I am listening to my itunes via my library or my music, and do not touch any keys for about 15 minutes, the song that is playing will stop and I get sent back to the main page where I need to put in my password. I have tried changing the "energy saver" to never going to sleep, but the songs still stop after about 15 to 20 minutes. How do I prevent this from happening?

    Welcome to the forums.
    1. You're in the iTunes for Mac forum - there is also iTunes for Windows forums.
    2. Any incomplete downloads are marked as such and should still be available for completion.
    3. Explorer is not relevant - all downloads come direct from the iTunes Music Store.
    4. You can contact Apple from their website if you are getting download problems and being charged
    5. Have a look here : http://forums.cnet.com/5208-6142_102-0.html?threadID=254032

  • Network Connection Timing Out

When I download TV shows, I regularly get a message saying the Network Connection has Timed Out. Err: -3259. This will happen during a relatively quick download (with no interruption it takes about 25 mins), so I don't think it's the firewall. I keep tring to restart the downloads, with the same result. The next day, it often restarts fine. What might the issue be; is it my service provider or Apple?

Disable your computer's antivirus and firewall during the download and update.

  • Err=3259 downloading podcast

I've been subscribed to This American Life's podcasts for the last year. All was fine until about early December. I can no longer download the podcast manually or automatically, on my iPod touch or on my MBP.
I can download other podcasts and music ok. Haven't tried TV shows or movies. And, it seems like I'm the only one having trouble with this podcast.
If I try to download on my laptop, I get the following message under Status (when I click the Downloads tab on the left of iTunes): stopped (err=3259).
If I try to do it from my iPod, I get the message: "(name of podcast episode)" cannot be played on this iPod.
The only thing that I can think of that coincides with this time is that I enabled Homesharing on my AppleTV (2G) for the first time.
Shortly after that, I started having these problems and, incidentally, my less than 1-yr-old MBP died (failed hd). It's a wonder that I'm still an Apple fan...But these things might not be connected, of course.
I've searched the boards it seems that most of the resolutions are for PC folks.
    Here's what I've checked:
    - my firewall is not on
    - my OS software is newly installed (due to having to replace the hd)
    - my iTunes software is up to date
    - my iPod has the newest update
    - I don't have an antivirus program running
I've emailed Apple but no response...hopefully someone can help!! Thanks!

same here!!! ran diagnostics and everything checks out ok. nothing on my network/cpu has changed

  • Can't complete song download: "Network Connection timed out Error=-3259"

Songs recorded as purchased but when downloading I receive this error message: "Network Connection timed out err=-3259"....this is a new laptop and the internet connection seems to be working but not sure why I can't complete my song download. Please help!
    Thanks!

I too am having the same problem. New computer (Dell Inspiron E1505) and new Nano. I've disabled my firewall access, allowed for full access for iTunes, I remain connected to the internet, I remain connected to iTuens store (I can listen to music, see my account info and even see the purchased songs), but I can't download my songs without getting the error 3259 message network connection timed out.
I contacted Apple/iTunes; they haven't found a solution other than disabling my firewalls, which as I've said I've already done.
I contacted my ISP and they thought it was a version problem. They suggested that I try to download iTunes version 6, but that hasn't worked either. I just hope someone has a solution. I'm about to take back my ipod and forget the whole thing. Good luck to you and wish me luck!

  • When updating to iOS 5.0.1. get the err -3259, thus unable to install new iOS. The message I receive goes: "THE NETWORK CONNECTION TIMED OUT.  MAKE SURE YOUR NETWORK SETTINGS ARE CORRECT AND YOUR NETWORK CONNECTION IS ACTIVE, OR TRY AGAIN LATER."

Does anyone know how to solve this tiresome problem, please!?? The update is downloaded upto 723.5MB, and is required upto 723,6MB, then the error message pops out! Tnx.

I have a quick wifi connection (Mac shows it as about 35 megabits) but I couldn't get the 5.0.1 OTA to work, I had to do it via cable to my computer's iTunes - and as I was already on iOS 5 it was only a small download, basically the same size as the OTA size.
As the original poster is talking about a 730 meg download then I assume that they are still on iOS 4.3.5 or below and can therefore only download via their computer's iTunes - you need to be on iOS 5+ before you get the OTA option.

  • My purchased songs won't download, connection timed out (error -3259)

Every time i purchase a song it says for example: There was a problem downloading “It's Not My Time / It's Not My Time - Single / 3 Doors Down”.
The network connection timed out. It says error -3259. This is very irritating SOMEONE HELP ME?!?!?!?!? PLEASE

several issues were related to poor band width. Even though my cable dsl was considered high speed, I needed to upgrade to the next level up of high speed internet with my ISP to get full band width. As soon as this change took place, all my downloading issues were resolved. It had nothing to do with the itunes software.
