SEM-BCS Data-Entry-Layouts

Hi all
We are currently planning a migration from EC-CS zu SEM-BCS. One goal is to replace the existing Excel-VBAs for data-entry, which are difficult to maintain.
Before we evaluate a solution outside of SEM-BCS we would like to check whether the Data-Entry-Layouts would be appropriate.
I was able to setup several forms (using data-driven or fixed structures). Data input works fine. Data is available in the cube after saving.
The problem: Whenever I open a data-entry-layout again the already existing data in the cube is not displayed. I can continue to enter data, which is also saved in the cube, but the already existing data is not displayed. This is not really user friendly.
- Does anybody have any idea what could be wrong with my forms?
- What are your experiences with the data-entry-layouts? Do you use them or do you use different ways to post data to SEM-BCS? What would you recommend?
Thank you
Best regards
Markus

The problem is solved by using all existing Support Packages. Obviously there was an issue with the data entry forms which was solved with one of the existing Support Packages.

Markus

  • General Questions about SEM-BCS Data Transfer

Please help me guys ! I need a clearer picture as to how exactly the loading of data should be done to SAP SEM-Busines Consolidation
Q1) Can I specify the Basic Cubes in my Data Basis Streams that I use for FI & CO in BCS-Workbench ? Or do I need to switch these cubes to Transactional, so it can be used in SEM-BCS ?
Q2) or Do I have to export the data out of my FI & CO cubes in BW to a FLAT FILE, and then load the Flat File into custom Transactional Cubes ?
Q3) Usually, for SEM-BCS would there be any direct connection to SAP R/3 or it`s via BW ?
Please help me with these initial issues guys ! Very much appreciated!

    Hi Eugene,
Great man! You`re back!...Nice to hear from yourself
Anyways, I still am struggling to understand the Intergration from SEM-BCS with BW and/or R/3. If you have any material that can help me understand the intergration would be helpful.
So, I had a look into the SAP Note 689229
It says, all changes of master data nad hierarchies have to be made via the application layer by means of application SEM-BCS :-
      a) By Flexible Upload
      b) Manually in Consolidation Workbench
      c) In Subordinate systems from transports
Hence, am I correct to assume that the only 2 options are permitted: Option (a) Flat File (b) Manually define the master data in BCS-Workbench ?
So, now assuming that I need to define Consolidation Items into SEM-BCS.
Because  there's too many, I would go with option (b) Flat File.
So, I create a Flat File containing the Consolidation Items. Next, how do I get this loaded into BCS-Console ?
Do I have to create a Transactional Info Cube and then load this Consolidation Items Flat File into it? Then following from there, I specify this Transactional Info Cube in my Data Stream ? or
Is there a way, I can directly read the Flat File from SEM-BCS ?
I use the following Info Cubes as source to my Data Basis:-
                       <b>Data Target  | Virtual InfoProvider</b>
      TOTAL RECORDS =   0BCS_C50    |     0ECCS_C05
      DOCUMENTS     =   0BCS_DS12   |     0BCS_VC12
P/S: We don`t use the SAP R/3 ECCS Module

  • SEM-BCS data extractor from ECC general ledger table(s)

We are a utility company working on an SEM-BCS implementation and use the FERC solution.  We do not use the new GL.  We are trying to extract the transaction data from ECC to a BI virtual remote cube.  We cannot use the profit center extractor (0EC_PCA_3) as the profit center tables do not contain any ferc data.  We need to be able to extract the transaction data from a general ledger table.  We have run into several issues with various extractors we have tried because they donu2019t allow direct access (0FI_GL_4) or are at a summary level and we canu2019t extract group account, trading partner, and transaction type detail (0FI_GL_1).  Would you have any suggestions on how to extract general ledger data with the detail information required from ECC to be able to load to a BI virtual remote cube?

We are going forward with getting the natural account detail data using the profit center extractor 0EC_PCA_3, and getting the ferc summary data using the general ledger extractor 0FI_GL_1.  With our testing so far, this combination will provide us the data we need in BCS.

  • Data Entry Layouts - Rows not ready for inputs - Multiple records

    Hi,
I have created a simple layout using a predefined simple structure for rows (FS Items) and a data driven one for columns (for the period value in LC).
Some cells show some data in them and are not available for input because there are multiple transaction records behind the numbers.
The transaction records share the same breakdowns except for the Currency Translation Indicator (it is empty for original records and shows '1' for records created during currency translation) and the currency key for transaction currency (sometimes it is empty).
It would be much appreciated if you let me know a way to introduce new data with layouts for FS Items (accounts) which already have transaction records.

    Hi Roberto,
Data may not be ready for input because of different reasons. The most I met were - you didn't expand the rows structure until the leaves (not nodes) or you marked the column as display only.

  • SEM-BCS:Data Stream Upload

    Hi! All.
I am facing an issue in Data Stream upload.....The Target field 0Company is 6 char. and the source field 0Company code is 4 char. in length....the system gives an error ...the value Target field exceeds source field..use info object with greater length.....however, upon mapping Company to another infoobject...with 6 char..used instead of 0comp-Code...the system returns yet
another error that its not coming from source system or source system can't be determined i.e. the new info object.......
I was thinking changing target field length to four...any work around this issue...If the target field is changed i.e. 0company what implications will it have or just changing the field in data model do the trick??
    Thanks for your input....
    Victor

    Hello Viktor,
If i understood well your problem i faced the same thing in the past.
When costumizing the load from data stream include the lenght to 4 characters or try to include an offset of 2.
    Hope is helps.
    If yes award points.

  • SEM BCS - Block Posting and Data Entry

    Hi Everybody,
I have a scenario to share with you:
I do not want to make any postings other that automatic roll up of P&L into rollup accounts like Retained earnings. What will be the effect If I enable the functionality "Block Posting and Data Entry" for these accounts?
    Please share your views.
    Thanks
    RJ

According to my understanding and experience, this option is useful to refrain the local users from posting on the opening movement type => this opening position should be be calculated by the system during the carry forward only. The exception is the period of the system initialization, i-e the first closing period in BCS, where the opening MT can be impacted by anyone, on all Posting Levels.
This assumption also means that the central users (i-e users who perform the "top" consolidation activities) shall not be impacted by this option : they are thus allowed to modify this MT during cons group change activities (PL02, 12, 22) and top conso adjustements (PL30), whatever the period.

  • Copy data posting level 20 - 30 is not allowed SEM BCS

    Hi expert,
We need to copy data from a version to another version, is very
important for us to import documents with posting level 20/30. Copy
task is only used for documents with posting level 01 - 10. But, in EC - CS we could to execute the copy program for this kind of documents,
and we are migrating from Ec-cs to SEM BCS so, we need to keep the same
    funcionality.
Any idea in order to solve it? Badi´s? user exits?
    Thanks in advance,
    Beatriz Bernardos

    Hi
It is not possible to copy data at posting level 20 and 30 as they are group entries.
Logically, it should not allow one to copy the entry at posting level 20 and 30.
SAP doesnt support copying data at posting level 20 and 30.
I had same kind of requirement in all of my BCS project but I believe logically it is not correct to copy group level entry.
Alterntively, what you can do is,
create export datasource to load the data back into BCS integration cube from BCS total records virtual cube by changing posting  level 20/30 to 01 or 10 in the update rule.
It still believe it will give you the wrong result in the report.
Please have a common understanding with customer that it is not possible copy posting level 20/30

    Manish

  • Transactional data for SEM-BCS

    Dear experts!
We are working in a SEM-BCS project and wonder which is the best solution to load data from FI-GL into BCS.
As far as I know there are two possibilities to do this:
.) extract form RFBILA00 and then use the flexible upload method
.) load the data into a FI-GL-cube in BW and then use the read from data stream method
Does anybody have experience with these two variants and know about the advantages/disadvantages?
Does it make a difference if you use new or old general ledger (concerning the load scenario)?
For me the load from the info cube looks more elegant, but the sap help documentation describes only the RFBILA00-extract (if you look for integration with other SAP systems).
Thanks in advance for any help.
    Best regards
    Michael

    Hi Michael,
    - Abt. RFBILA00 - I tried to use it but refused. Maybe I wasn't lucky enough, but I couldn't get partners.
    - Abt extraction to BW - try to use 0SEM_BCS_10.
    - I also used to activate extraction total records to GLT3 and then using the generic datasource extracted it in BW.
    - There are many ways for extacting data in BW. I even saw such a decision where the whole huge BSEG table was used.
A work with new GL, IMHI, is preferable for BCS consolidation since there are some features that make a life a bit easier (it's easier to setup ERP in order to extract all info needed).

  • R/3 Data Source for SEM BCS

    Hi Guys,
I am using 0FI_GL_4 data source of R3 for SEM BCS.Am i right in doing so,please guide.
As per my understanding transaction data has to be taken to BCS for consolidation and hence this is the relevent data source.
Please provide comments on my understanding.
We are working in the following enviornment:
    R3 version ECC6.0
    SEM BCS ver 6.0
    BW ver 7.0
    Best Regards
    Amit

    Hi Amit,
    It is enough normmally.
There are many  data sources. It all depends what is your reporting requirement or what level of data to be extracted.
Let me know your reporting requirements to answer further

  • SEM-BCS on SAP-BW master data alignment

    We are implementing SEM-BCS rel 3.2 on SAP-BW 3.2
In the SEM infoproviders some standard BW info-objects are used such as 0CO_AREA, 0COMPANY etc.
These info objects are also used in BW infoproviders.
In SEM-BCS the masterdata that is already available in these infoobjects is not visible. The documentation describes that the SEM system is leading concerning the master data.
When we create masterdata in SEM for these infoobjects, with te same key as used in BW (the same company number), it creates new records in the BW masterdata table and so deleting the attribute values in the BW tables.
Note 689229 describes some synchronization programs that can be used to synchronize master data from SEM into BW. It is also possible to use these programs to initially synchronize the BW masterdata to SEM so you don't have to create the master data in SEM but only have to enhance it.
Has anyone have experience with this issue and can you provide me with information what to do and what not to do.
    Thanks, Wil Heijmans
    Trespa International

    Hi Wil,
it's right you'll have to synchronize the master data. When we implemented SEM-BCS 3.1 we had some problems with the reports so we used the following routine.
    1. Upload attributes into SEM-BCS.
    2. Put them into the hierarchies if needed.
    3. Synchronize attributes to BW.
    4. Do attribute change run in BW.
Synchronizing hierarchies was a bit painful so we decided to use different hierarchies (it helped at some other points too because we needed additional features in BW hierarchies like other InfoObjects).
Synchronizing BW attributes into SEM-BCS attributes was even worse because the standard BCS attributes could not be filled this way.
We worked on early SEM 3.1 as one of the ramp-up customers. The programs may have changed in the meantime but the one above has worked for us.
    Best regards

  • Master Data synchronisation between BW and SEM BCS

    Hi,
Can any one guide me how to synchronize data between BW and SEM BCS.
Master data like Cost centre, Segment, Profit centers and all other sub assignments are created in BW  from source ystem i.e SAP.
Now when I upload data into BCS, i am facing errors l;ike master data doex not exists.
Currently I am Flexible upload for updating into BCS.
So pls suggest me hoe to proceed this approach in Production? IS there any synchronisation program which does this automatically from BW to BCS?
    Regards,
    Richard

    Hi Scotsman,
The issue is, here we have created Sub Assignments, where the master data for these sub assignments will increase on daily basis.
Can say atleast 50 Sub assignmenrs are created as new master data, example: Customer is a sub assignment, but it is assigned only for few accounts, so taking sub ledgerlevel data inco is not an issue.
Now when transaction data is posted in to BCS, the sub assignments master data is created automatically.
Now the question is how to get the data in BW for the specific sub assignmnets into BCS.
Currently I planned to use the [program UCMDSYNC to do this.
Pls do suggest me if any other option available for me.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Richard

  • Windows 8 Pro tablet - Syclo screen layout not displayed properly data entry

    Hi Team,
We are working on the windows 8 pro tablet to test the standard
    service manager 4.2 application
During the testing in windows 8 Pro tablets, when we want to enter any data in syclo screen with the help of tablet’s keyboard, the input
fields becomes so small that we are not able to enter the data.
Is there any configuration which can be done so that the screen isclearly visible when data entry is made in the syclo screen.
If anyone has faced similar issue please share how to over come this.
    Please advice
    Thanks
    Neha

    Hello Phil,
Command bars were deprecated and shouldn't be used any longer. Instead, you need to use the Fluent UI (aka Ribbon UI) instead. You can read more about the new UI in the following series of articles in MSDN:
Customizing Context Menus in Office 2010
Customizing the 2007 Office Fluent Ribbon for Developers (Part 1 of 3)
Customizing the 2007 Office Fluent Ribbon for Developers (Part 2 of 3)
Customizing the 2007 Office Fluent Ribbon for Developers (Part 3 of 3)
As a workaround you can add a custom control to the context
menu with the getEnabled or getVisible callback which will be invoked before the context menu is shown.
