SEM Certification ????

Hi everyone,
i am a BW certified person with 3 years of BW experience and 2 yrs of ABAP/SD experience. I m looking forward to increase my skillset by getting certified in SEM. For that i have attneded SEM-BPS and SEM CPM courses for relase 3.5 at SAP Academy and am planning to appear in SEM certfication exams in abt 2 months time.
Since SEM is still a realtively new product, there isnt much info and reviews available on web (as incase of BW). I will be grateful if any of you, who has gone thru the experince of SEM certification can give me some tips regarding:
- Areas to focus on speically in CPM?
(i have the SAP own listing of Exam topics but that just lists everything in SEM including Score cards, Benchmarking and VDTs. Whereas i believe that the topic like BalanceScorecard and VDT will probably ve more questions than Benchmarking or Riskmanagement).
-Any useful book for quick references? (i fond Academy courses good but a book at hand is better for quick reference)
-Areas in BPS/CPM on which one should concentrate more?
-How was ur overall expereince of certif exam? and how was the difficulty level?

It was very tough exam and especially the bps part, you should not have any problem with the bw for sem bits at all in the exam but bps part is all from life experience and not form the book

SEM Certification exam

Hi,
I'm planning to give my sap SEM certification next month.I'm following help.sap.com material.Do i have to study any additional documentation other than help documentation.
In service market place i have seen only one certification exam i.e, MYSAP FINANCIALS - SEM Certification(2002).
Is this the certification exam for BW-SEM people?

There you will find an entry "Solution Consultant". Look for the entry for BI. You can get a description (clicking on the field "language") and description of the necessary courses (field "curriculum").

Let me give you some ideas on each of the courses.
BPC 310: Application configuration in BPC MS. It includes, Application management, dimension management, security, BPF, etc
BPC 320: Reporting and input schedules in BPC MS
BPC 330: This is kind of combination of BPC 310 and 320 but with the flavor of BPC NW
BPC 340: This course focuses on consolidation process in NW.
Each of the courses are independant and are equally important for the certification. The certification will involve questions from each of these books. The questions have a mix of functional and technical.

Hi Guys,
As I mentioned I cleared the SAP BPC certification last week. This is my 7th sap certification.
I received few emails asking about the exam and the whole preparation process.I replied to them. But again I thought it is better to create a blog and post there. So here you go:

Whatever you feel is important - line by line - mark them and make some questions out of them
It should help tremendously - nothing much from the system itself

Unable to provide input value to InfoObject in SEM-BCS

Hello BI Experts,
I have created an infoobject 'ABC' in BI and have flagged 'With Master Data' and 'With Text'. This infoobject has an navigational attribute 'XYZ'(XYZ also has 'With Master Data' and 'With Text').
When I go to T.Code UCWB(BCS Workbench), I could able to see the infoobject 'ABC' and when I try to create master data for 'ABC', I do not see the input field for 'XYZ'. I want to input values in Infoobject 'XYZ' through this screen(SEM-BCS) and not through BI(right-click on infoobject 'Maintain Master Data). Please let me know, if I am missing anything.

I find the ICD setup very 'picky'! If you get one thing wrong, it doesn't work. I have detailed below the steps I usually advise people to tek. Check your setup and see if this helps.
1. Define Plan Type, Compensation Category = Others.
2. Define Plan. Link to Plan Type. Plan Usage = May not be in program. On Not in program Tab - define sequence, currency, enrollment rate (per pay period?), activity reference period (Monthly). Your settings may need to be different. On Plan details tab, enter plan years.
3. Plan enrollment requirements. On the general tab, plan sub tab, make sure the method = EXPLICIT. this allows the user to enter an input value for the ICD. THIS MAY WELL BE THE SOURCE OF YOUR PROBLEM!
Make sure the CERTIFICATION region is UNTICKED. This can also cause ICDs not to work.
ALLOWS UNRESTRICTED ENROLLMENT must be TICKED. Otherwise there is no eligibility to the ICD.
On the rates subregion, make sure the run strt date is set to ENTERABLE.
4. standard Rates form. Make sure the ACTIVITY TYPE and TAX TYPE are entered. Select the ELEMENT and the INPUT VALUE and TICK the ELEMENT AND INPUT VALUE REQUIRED field.
On the processing Information tab - TICK ASSIGN ON ENROLMENT, DISPLAY ON ENROLLMENT and PROCESS EACH PAY PERIOD. Enter PER PAY PERIOD AMOUNT in VALUE PASSED TO PAYROLL and OTHER in COMPENSATION CATEGORY.

EncodeURL - uses semi-colon or question mark in path?

I am confused about the encodeURL method and how it formats urls when adding the session ID. It was my understanding that the sessionID is added as a path parameter, which means it becomes part of the query string following a "?" in the url, like so:
www.mydomain.com/servlet/CheckOut?jsessionid=567
However, the book I'm using (Java 2 Web Developer Certification Study Guide by Sybex), says that a semi-colon is used instead, like so:
www.mydomain.com/servlet/CheckOut;jsessionid=567
Which one is it? Or is this entirely server-dependent? Either way the next processing servlet needs to be able to access that ID using getPathInfo().

SEM-BPS functionality

Hi to everybody.
I'm searching for a particular functionality of SEM-BPS but I don't know if it exists or if I have to develop it custom(for ex:with ABAP).
Here, the issue: I have a product-hierarchy, the last two bottom-level of which are PRODUCT and (under) SKU (PRODUCT is parent of SKU).
I want to spread (I mean "distribute") values of particular PRODUCTS down to the respective SKUs following the hierarchy definition. An example: the value of PRODUCT P10 down to SKU 19, SKU 20 and SKU 21, the value of PRODUCT P11 down to SKU 22, SKU 23, SKU 24 and so on.
I have tried to use ALLOCATION function and it works perfectly but there are too much parameters to define (sender, receiver, distributor and so on) and it isn't related to the pre-defined hierarchy (I mean, there is no possibility to define a hierarchical reference).
This problem is born because of the large amount of PRODUCTS and SKUs (it's an hard work defining every single parameter...).
So I'm searching to a function that permits to refer to the product-hierarchy and execute the spread.
Any advice?

I am afraid I may not be able to help you with your query! But if you dont mind can I ask for your help. I am new to SEM-BPS. I have done certification in SEM but you know how its like. The pace of the academy is so fast and furious that it is impossible to retain most of the stuff after the academy. Now I am working on an SEM-BPS project. The company wants me to show to them what BPS can offer them. They are currently using their own bespoked planning software but are not very happy. I need to show to them the functionalities of SEM-BPS. Are their standard examples on heirarchies in BPS? Or is their something u can send me to get started with using heirarchies in BPS so that I can map their organistion structure to BPS planning layout and then can proceed from there? And last but not the least can you advise me on the structure of info cube? What things do i need to take in to consideration before I can design my info cube? Thanks a lot.
