SEM-CPM : CPM Variable

I am interested in presenting a CPM variable visually (I am using CPM-web, or UMM_PRES_WEB). The variable is currently used to drive the restriction of the underlying queries, however, I am interested in using this same CPM variable to provide a visual cue of what data is being shown. So - for example- I would like to present text somewhere in the logical view and perspective view that would identify which values the CPM is set to. I have not been able to find a way to use the CPM variable for anything other than restriction.
Can anyone help me with how to use the CPM variable as dynamic text as I have described? It seems visually challenging to understand what is being related if these values cannot be presented.

CPM - Create Variable

Hi All,
Im working with SEM-CPM ; and i nedd to create varible type Interval but i could not do it
I Have created in this way:
Variable Type: Variable for Char.Value
Characteristic : 0CALDAY
Replacement Type: Variable for Presentation
Selection Type: Variable for a single interval of value
The problem is that after i saved it, the selection type changes automatically to :"Variable for a single value"
Can anybody knows how can i create a variable with interval ?

Acces to SEM cockpit runtime variable in Badi SEM_CPM_PRESENTATION

I need to access to SEM Management cockpit runtime variable in the SEM_CPM_PRESENTATION Badi in order to pass it as web report CGI parameter.
Someone knows how to instance cockpit object from the badi to get runtime variables, or where to look for that values?

Subsections and other semi-permanent objects

I like how sections work, where you can name the section marker, then use that as a variable throughout the section, and simply change the section, and the Master Pages all fall into place.
I'd like to create SUBsections that do the same thing -- I set them in one place, then change them at a new place, but keep the section marker the same. I have sections that span, maybe 10 pages, and subsections that span 2-3 pages. Can sections somehow be nested?
Along those lines I was wondering if there are other semi-permanent objects/variables that I can define. I'd like to make a cute little section icon that I can use above the page number along the outside edge of the page. There's the section *prefix* but that's not what I want. I want to use an *image*, and I want to be able to resize that image in various places. I'd like to be able to layout that object in the Master Pages and have it fall through without hand pasting it.
Can anyone point me to some places to learn about such objects, if they exist?
(I'm doing a series of manuals and am setting up icons for each manual, each chapter, each section, each subsection (??), plus the page number. I'm putting these icons along the outside page so the user can easily flip the edge and know where they are in the book. So you see I can't just make a section prefix and have that come up *next* to the page number.)
I *could* make a new Master Page based on a more general section page, and then make one for every (frikkin) subsection, but that seems to defeat the purpose -- I'll end up with, like 40-50 Master Pages, one for every 2-3 pages!

No to both. You'll have to make the sub-section text manually. And variable can only contain text. You can make different Master Pages for each section with a different graphic in position, though.

SEM CPM variable

We have a cockpit defined in SEM which displays KPIs by calendar day. There is a CPM variable displayed when entering the cockpit which accepts the day, it is a drop down box. Walls, views and frames are then displayed based in queries in BW. The dates in the dropdown reflect the posted values from the BW cubes. One of the KPIs is obtained from a multiprovider (MP) in BW. When the query from the MP is used in a frame an excessive amount of dates are displayed in the dropdown. The dates displayed are not in any cubes. This also causes the cockpit to respond extremely slow. When the MP query is not connected to the cockpit performance is acceptable and the date selection reflects the cube contents.
We would also like to default the date selection to yesterday's date, but that is another issue.

SEM-CPM-MC: Creating CPM variables

Hi,
I know this is probably not the right place to post it, but I couldnt find a better place.
I trying to create a variable in SEM-CPM-MC, but no matter what I do, I'm only able to create a runtime variable with selection type P - Variable for single value. I can select the other values, but when I save the variable SAP automatically corrects it to Singe value again. I can also create a design variable with the other types, but not a runtime variable. How do I create a variable for which you can enter an interval?
In the documentation it also says, that you should be able to create variables on a frame level. I don't see any button where I can create a variable on a frame level. I've done exactly as it says on help.sap.com, but I don't have a button to create a new variable on a frame level. How do I do that?
Any help is appreciated and will be rewarded generously :o)

yes, there are business content, sap measure catalog, measures, strategy tempates, bw infocubes, etc.
you can activate single or mass, go to sap measure catalog, e.g you can activate node 'financial measures' for mass activation or specific measure only under that catalog.
to activate infocubes etc, you can use rsa1(administrator workbench)->business content, detail steps see sap help

SEM CPM - Dump when i tried to assign a variable

Hi Gurus,
Im working with SEM-CPM and i facing the following issue:
When i tried to assign a CPM variable in design mode it show up the following DUMP (during the preview of the Frame) :
"MESSAGE_TYPE_X" C- "ADD_DATA_TO_BUFFER"

Using CPM Variable within SEM BSC

Hi,
My client would like to have scorecard in Europe. he would like also drilldown through different structure :
- Europe
- Country (France, UK...)
- Department (HR, Finance)...
I thought It was possible to use CPM variable with Structure object and create only one scorecard (scorecard is the same for every structure). Unfortunately, I didn't success in using CPM variable.
Is there a way to achieve this (creation of multiple scorecards...) ?

I agree with you when you say that if you maintain values in CPM variable, it will point to either cointinent or country and not both. That's what we want.
I need to know the best way to have a scorecard for Europe, one for France, one for UK....
Do we have to create one scorecard by element or is it possible to use CPM variable to achieve this ?
I didn't find a way, as we can do in Management cockpit, to change directly in the presentation the value of the variable CPM.

Column Chart in Management Cockpit

Hi,
I'm trying to design a column chart in the Management Cockpit with countries representing the columns. The query result varies from month to month (we have a cockpit variable for month). The columns should be flexible, i.e. all countries in the result of the query should be shown. However, I don't know in advance which countries will show up in the query result. In my column chart I want all countries who have a value for this month.
I tried different solutions:
1. When I choose "All Country" in "selection criteria" of my frame, only one column representing the cumulated values for all countries is shown.
2.When I choose an intervall starting from A to Z, I get the desired result, but again there is also one column for "All Country".
3. Leaving country selection empty doesn't work either, because in this case I won't be able to set the section axis to country in graphic design.
4. Another solution I could think of is to have a CPM-design-variable with all countries. But this would cause quite a bit of maintenance, because every time when there is a new country, I will have to change the CPM-variable.
Has anyone a better idea how to solve this problem!

Hi,
Try to read the SAP Note n°882897.
It explains that when "All" is assigned as an interval from All to All, it's treated as a set of all sub values.

Extrapolate data into a graph

Thank you for taking a look at my question.
I am having a hard time finding out how to extrapolate data into a graph. I am working on a business forecasting document and would like to create a break even analysis by charting the fixed, semi-fixed, and variable costs associated with revenues derived from sales represented.
My fixed costs are fixed, and used for things like leases, advertising, operating expenses and office supplies.
My semi-fixed costs are proportional to the number of sales we make covering incrementing outside services and personnel requirement costs.
My variable costs are directly related to the number of sales made and cover the cost of making and delivering our product.
I have my spreadsheet worked out to where I can input new sales numbers and see the effect on revenue. My question is can i create a graphical representation of this relationship?
I would like to avoid having to create a chart of data with static values (such as 0 sales, 50 sales, 100 sales, 150 sales).
I would rather be able to define the areas where I input my sales numbers, define the output total costs/revenues, and allow the graphical representation to extrapolate this data across a set range.

Thanks for the response - unfortunately I am not looking to use a bubble graph, rather to figure out how to have numbers use an equation to graph two variables (costs and revenues) when sales are between 1 and n.
Here is a screenshot of an example breakeven point, please notice the way each increasing sale effects both semi-fixed costs and resulting revenue:
Due to processing of the total sales number prior to it being returned, I cannot create a table between 1 and n to calculate all values beforehand. Instead I am attempting to designate this golden-colored cell to be my n sales value (on x-axis), then set a minimum and maximum range allowing Numbers.app to graph the resulting outputs (total costs and total sales).
Barring this capability existing, I believe I will need to utilize AppleScript to insert the range of values (1-n) and copy the resulting numerical output to a new table, then create the chart from this data set. The only issue here is that I am as-yet unaware of how to create such an AppleScript.

Report error with u0093variable in currency translationu0094

Hi,
I'm getting following system error in BWQ when executing a query with variable in currency translation.
"Abort Variable Z101LTUSDC is not allowed for the conversion key date."
I've created currency translation Z101LTUSDC in rrc1 with following parameters.
Exchange rate type 1001
Source currency from data rec
target currency = fixed USD
Time Ref = Time Base from Variable = ZDATEVAR.
ZDATEVAR is a variable created on 0CALDAY & is included in cube1.
a Query that uses this currency translation in BWD works fine.
Now, when i run the query created on cube1 in BWQ, by using currency translation type Z101LTUSDC, I'm getting following error.
"Abort Variable Z101LTUSDC is not allowed for the conversion key date."
What is the reason for this?
It works fine in BWD but doesn't work in BWQ.
I assigned variable ZDATEVAR in the definition of currency translation type in BWD.
But, after transport, I see that variable is blank in the definition of currency translation type in BWQ.
i double checked that ZDATEVAR exist in BWQ in F4.
But, why query is taking "technical name of currency translation Z101LTUSDC" as variable date instead of "ZDATEVAR"?
transport got moved to BWQ successfully with no errors or warnings.
