I am thinking about taking an SAP Academy course in SAP SEM and also taking the certification. What are peoples general thoughts on the market, is this a fad or something where demand will be apparent.

I have also been working the BW market for a while and have recently moved to BW-BPS.
The market is extremely good for the moment, especially the last year and especially in BW.
BW demand has been high for a while, some projects are unable to source experienced people.
BW-BPS demand is there, lower than BW but this is mainly since SAP customers are still very occupied with their BW projects.
I didn't take any course, have always found experience more important.
I think you can learn more from saphelp, sap how-to papers and forums like these than from courses.
After all, SAP has one of the best documented systems in the world.
Of course, sometimes courses are the only way to get into a new area.

SAP has removed the download link for SEM BI 7.0 in service market place

I want to download "IDES SEM-BW 6.0/7.00" and I have valid SAP login ID and the authorisation to download software.
After I have download part 1 of the export DB file, the rest of the files in my download busket as marked as object s no available. And I went back to check "IDES SEM-BW 6.0/7.00" available in service market place under https://websmp109.sap-ag.de/swdc , those files have been removed.
Any of you have any ideas what is going on? is SAP doing maintenance or they have decided not to let user download from their site.
I need this urgent to let my basis guy install for the forthcoming BI training course.

can any kind soul here login to their Service market place account to check for me:
1. On the TOP MENU, choose the 3rd Tab: Download
2. ON the left vertical menu, follow this path: Download->SAP Software Distribution Center->Download->Installations and Upgrades->Entry by Application Group->SAP Application Components->IDES Solutions->IDES SEM-BW 6.0/7.00->Windows Server->MS SQL Server
There is still no file there for us to download at all!!!
Can anyone please use their ID to login to check for me?

Data collection in SEM from ECC 5.0

Hi experts
I need have the information online in my consolidation system, the following is my plan
a) I want to use real time data transfer from FI to EC CS
a) and use the extractor 3EC_CS_1 from ECC to
in SEM BCS what happend with calculation of retained earnings and balance carry forward because in ECC this activities are already executed?

GLT0 is not the right table for data extraction for BCS since not all the characteristics are available in this table. Further, GLT0 may not be available since this table may be deactivated once the NEW GL is activated due to ouupying redundant data.
You can extract the data from table FAGLFLEXT if you are using new GL functionality using 0SEM_BCS10 extractor. If you are not using FAGLFLEXT then you can extract the data through your SP purpose ledger table. No Sp purpose ledger is used then you can extract the data using BSEG table. But this is the least preferred table due to data volume and performance reasons.
Pl read the How to Configure ....Consolidation business scenario from market place for better understanding of the selection of tables.

Siebel Marketing ESD not sending Email

I have installed Siebel Marketing and configured it to send email through launching campaigns. Without intervention of ESD, my emails through F9 (Menu bar->File->Send Email) goes fine but when i send it through a campaign it is not received at the other end, i have not installed BHD so that i can only work on this issue and Send Email first. i have checked my SMTP and its sending mail through telnet just fine. So could anyone tell me what is the problem or what am i missing??
I have configured ESD according to guide and all the verification are in place. There is no error in ESD log or Siebel log related to it. Only thing which i doubt is an error is that "r" 450 4.1.8 <SEMA-CR-1-83O3@CHANGEME>: Sender address rejected: Domain not found" after every contact it processes, be it a valid or invalid email. Kindly any answers would be really appreciated.

Vendor Evaluation semi-automatic TABLE ELBM

i am BW consulting,
i want use the 0PUR_C06 cube but this use the extractor 0MM_PUR_VE_02 in R3, this extractor read information the ELBM table.
When run de vendor evaluation, fill de ELBP (customer level)table but not ELBM (material level) table.
someone knows how to fill the table?
or the procedure for vendor evaluation semi-automatic at the level of material?

Hi,
The table ELBM is filled in the info record. If you go to transaction ME12 and then to Extras/Vendor Evaluation, there you have a field Market behavior. This is the way this table is filled.

SEM-BCS Enh 5.0 in SEM-BW 605 as per 1171344

any rumors on when a new version ([currently 7|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1171344]) is coming to the market?
looking at prior versions it should happen any time now.

I'm very interested in EHP5 and by co-incidence I just checked again today:
1171344 - last updated in July 2010, there is high level info on the two functions to be provided inside EHP5,

However, we are still lacking the low level details.
1120848 - Restricted usage of SEM-BW 7.00 or FINBASIS 7.00 last updated December 2007 confirms that SEM-BW 7 is and FINBASIS 7 are specifically for "Banking Services" and not to be confused with upgrades to SEM-BCS, which will be release 605, EHP5 for BCS.
NB By looking at some other OSS notes, I found this info on what looks like Support Pack (SP) 4 of SEM-BW 605:

There are 15 OSS notes in there for BCS specifically, so this suggests that some people are on release 605.

Customizing for Distribution for Tab 'Costs' on Marketing Campaigns

    Hope you guys can support me on that:
    It´s regarding the customizing for 'Distribution' so we can distribute the key figures for the marketing campaign directly in the marketing planner, inside the Tab 'Costs' of the Campaign.
    I´m not sure on how to proceed on doing this customizing; I´m on CRM 5.0 SP05 and as I open the tab 'Costs', create and transfer distribution information I´ve selected, the system was supposed to open the grid lines bellow on the screen - but it does not happen - I think it´s something missing on this customizing.
- Could anybody send me details on how to do that ?

    Yes, I´ve maintained a Planning Profile...as I select it, it comes up the Tab 'Costs' and then I select 'Create' and enter with product and partner data and then select 'Transfer', but then nothing happens...
       I think that most of the customizing is done but something inside IMG inside SEM (CRM fields / data map) is missed.
        Do you have any idea of what must be done in this transactions ?

BW work experience before SEM-BPS?

Hello,
I am a SAP newbie. I have 5 years of Object-Oriented design and development experience using C++/Java. I also have a MBA and have worked in product management/marketing for enterprise software products (customer requirements gathering and defining next version of product, sales support on closing deals) and in strategy developoment.
My goal is to work in SAP-SEM, leveraging my technical and business background. I am currently taking training in BW as was told that I need to understand BW in depth before working in SEM.
I am wondering whether it is required/recommended that I work on one or more client projects in BW before I take up a job in SEM-BPS or another SEM module in order to be effective in a SEM job (after taking training in the appliable SEM module) or whether I can directly take up a SEM job without having to work in BW (but getting trained in BW and practicing the module on my own).

IAS 1 - Presentation of Financial Statements
IAS 7 - Cash Flow Statements
IAS 14 - Segment Reporting
IAS 18 - Revenue
IAS 21 - The Effects of Changes in Foreign Exchange Rates
IAS 27 - Consolidated and Separate Financial Statements
IAS 28 - Investments in Associates
IAS 31 - Interests in Joint Ventures
IAS 32 - Financial Instruments: Disclosure and Presentation
IAS 36 - Impairment of Assets
You should understand some basic accounting rules, like any profits/revenues/gains are always credit turnovers (negative in BCS), not only in the balanse sheet, but also in P&L etc.
Don't know any particular books that would be useful (certainly, there are some, I just don't know).
From the courses, it's without doubt SEM240, and probably AC660.
And I'm sure that in your neighborhood you'll be able to find some courses related to consolidation issues provided by Big Four firms. Might be very useful.

SEM BPS or BW BPS

Hi Experts,
I am new to this planning area and have some basic questions.
1. I hear that SEM BPS has become BW-BPS. Does it mean that automatically from BI 3.5 or 7.0 the SEM server has been integrated to BW system(single system with BW and SEM together)? Pl. give me clarity on this.
2. What If I had the SEM BPS separate system and want to migrate to BW BPS system?. Is it possible?
3. I see that SAP is more recommending BI-IP. Does it mean that i have to change to BI-IP if i want to have better planning?.
4. I see that CRM needs BW-BPS planning framework as the basis for CRM planning functions. Does it mean that even if I have SEM BPS, i need to use BW BPS only for CRM market value planning?.

Hi,
It is not BI-BPS , I think it is BI-IP (Integrated Planning).
You will need a good knowledge of BI to use it. I would suggest, you read a bit about it and if you have a server handy with BI installed, start on it. Then do a short course on BI Planning.
The FI-CO background will help you in visualising the use of BI-IP and the design of the application. To actually model it, you will need to know the BI technical modeling.

HT204655 Photos for Mac does not support semi professional camera Nikon D7000!

Since Nikon does not support USB storage mode, the (semi)professional line of Nikon cannot be used to import pictures!!
This is a serious flaw in the program. Aperture supports Nikon D7000, Image Capture supports the camera but the latest and greatest has forgotten all about supporting market leader's camera's?
The main and only reason NOT to use Photos... Or did I miss something here?

Sorry guys, forget all about it. I switch my camera off and on again (while it was connectoed to the Mac) and it appeared in Photos.
No idea what happened, but I can import my pictures.

The functionality in BPC mainly 1) Planning 2) Consolidation
1) Planning : You can have any type planning scenario. Ex.: Sales planning. Based on the actual previous data
we will have some projection reports on the sales for future sales, so we can have planning scenario here . We can change
the projections as per our requirement for any number of times.
Ex 2: HR Planning. Based on the market condition we have recruitment planning, based on the actual data (Existing Emp.)
Ex 3: Accounts Expenditure planning like this we can have planning forecastings.
2) Consolidations : We can consolidate the group company, companies with currency translations, allocations, Inter Unit
eliminations, consolidated P&L accounts & Consolidated Balance Sheets are possible in this.
But where as in BCS you can do only 2 part. The first part is not possible. Hence I personally suggest you to learn BPC NW
it will be more useful. BPC is now going to integrated with BO (Buss. Objects) also from 7.5 ver onwards.

Installation of SEM in BI

Hi All,
I have sap ECC 6.0 installed.I have SAP BI 7.0 Installed.Currently BI is connected to R/3.
We have to install the SEM system. How to install SEM.I read some forum it says you need to install as an addon on BI system.
I tried to search the addon on SAP market place to download,but unable to locate.
Can i get some installation document of SEM.??

The installation of SAP NetWeaver components/usage types BW/BI, XI/PI, EP, MI, and/or DI together with SAP ECC in the same system instance (the same SID) is technically possible but some restrictions apply: Refer SAP Note 855534 @ service.sap.com
BI installation will be ADD-On the SAINT transaction code. We will be using an RFC connection for this. You will have to install BI Content add-on on the AS ABAP stack via transaction SAINT and install BI JAVA on the AS JAVA stack via SAPInst.
Along with ECC 6.0 check for these two BI Content software DVDs.
1. NW 2004s BI Cont Add-On 3 (This one somes along with SAP ERP 2005 (ECC 6.0 IDES).
2. BI CONT 7.03 (SAPKIBIIIH BI_CONT 703 Installation: Meta-Commandfile (Delta Task)

SEM- VARIABLE TYPE EXIT

We have a planning area where I have various variable that represent the product hierarchy, in particular:
u2022     Market
u2022     Brand
u2022     Family
The user select the value for any variables and thereu2019s a function module that derives the value of material, the material is another variable type exit.
The IO material has various attributes that I use in layout, one of these (material group 3) has many value, but I need only two values:
u2022     PCO
u2022     STD
In layout the user has to see only material with PCO, then I create a variable for characteristic material group 3 fixed PCO used in level and layout. Itu2019s ok
Now I must create another layout in same planning area, where the user has to see both, PCO and STD.
I created a new level where I donu2019t use the variable for characteristic material group 3, but this variable is fixed PCO, the material derived by FM obviously are only PCO.
How can I do?

Refer to Marc's comment in the below post that Planning layouts lock all data
How to avoid SEM-BPS Lock entries
Hence the best option would be to create a different Planning level for Cost center based on the need for planning.
You could also explore the possibility of creating a BEx report wherein the data just needs to be viewed by the boss and not planned.
