Semi-affected sideways syndrome

Apple TV for me has been a piece of cake, like all Apple products, except for one glaring problem. About half of my photo albums from iPhoto have the non-panoramics scan sideways. Some albums are OK, others aren't. I'm tired of showing friends and loved ones precious memories occassionally sideways.

Forgive me for asking, but what does this have to do with an iPod?

My Bridge update 5.2.0.4 has wrecked previews for all DNG files. They appear only sideways and small and I can't open Camera Raw in Bridge. Anyone else have the same problem?

I updated Bridge yesterday. CS6 5.2.0.4. Mac OS 10.9.5
Now all previews (DNG files) in Bridge appear sideways and only small thumbnail size.
Also Camera Raw has been disabled.
I have tried purging cache for the folders as well as purging entire cache.
I have also spent over an hour on the phone to tech support which mainly involved being switched between departments and trying to understand anyone on the phone.

Your Performance preferences screen capture reveals you have a single hard drive with little available space to accommodate both the Photoshop scratch file and the swap files of the OS.
It's obvious that Bridge finds itself at times with insufficient space to build its cache.
However, it's unclear why that should affect only DNG files and not other type of image files. Puzzling, unless the DNG files are the only large image files you have.
Parts of the following may illustrate what happens when the scratch file is on your boot drive:
The rule of thumb I follow to figure out scratch space says to figure on 50 to 100 times the size of your largest file ever multiplied by the number of files you have open. I have seen the scratch file exceed 800 GB once, an admittedly rare occurrence, but it often exceeds 200 GB when stitching large panoramas and the like.
As an example—and stressing that I'm aware that others have even more scratch space than I do—I keep two dedicated, physically separate hard drives as my primary and secondary Photoshop scratch disks and a lot of GB free on my boot drive for the OS. I also have 16 GB of RAM installed.
Additionally, if you only have a single HD, i.e. your boot drive, you'd need it to be large enough to accommodate both the swap files of the OS as well as Photoshop's scratch.

Problem with opaque object/text showing as semi-transparent?

I didn't start seeing this problem till today, but the past couple of times I've gone to create a new shape layer or text layer, it appears like it's at 50% opacity. I've checked my layer settings, and they're all at 100% fill and opacity. I can't see any reason why they'd be semi-transparent, and none of the settings I've tried have changed anything. I've even tried deleting the shapes/text, saving my document, and starting over. That worked one time, but this time it's not working.
Even applying a color overlay still results in a semi-transparent shape.
Anyone else have a similar issue and know how to fix it? I am in the middle of doing a design for a client, for print, and I really can't be dealing with this right now.

I ended up just deleting the group that was affected, saving it as a new file, and then rebuilding the new group from the new file. For some reason that worked. I am not currently have the problem, so I can't show you what was happening, but I'll definitely look at these steps if it happens again.

There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto: You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Command-Click for selecting multiple pics.
(Note the above illustration is not a Finder Window. It's the dialogue you get when you go File -> Open)
You can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
There's a similar option in Outlook and many, many other apps. If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.

For users of 10.6 and later: You can download a free Services component from MacOSXAutomation which will give you access to the iPhoto Library from your Services Menu.
Using the Services Preference Pane you can even create a keyboard shortcut for it.
For Users of 10.4 and 10.5 Create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use this free utility Karelia iMedia Browser
Other options include:
Drag and Drop: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
File -> Export: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
Show File: a. On iPhoto 09 and earlier: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected. 3.b.
b: On iPhoto 11 and later: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Reveal in Finder -> Original. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.

Extraction fo data for SEM 6 from ECC6

We are working on to set up SEM 6.0 with ECC6 as the transactioanl system.
Please could you help solving the following doubts in this regard: -
1) Is this true that in order to get consolidation relevant fields (like Trading partner, Partner profit center
etc.) we should use DS 0SEM_BCS_10 and not DS 0FI_GL_10? SAP Note 852971 suggests as follows: -
'.......The DataSource 0FI_GL_10 is available in the BI business content for the extraction of data of the leading ledger from the new general ledger accounting to BW. However, only one part of the transferred fields can be updated by the structure of the data flow saved in the BI content. This is due to technical constraints during the update into an ODS object. The partner fields that are relevant for consolidation are not updated in the InfoProvider 0FI_GL_10 and, therefore, you cannot use it as the "staging" InfoProvider for SEM-BCS.
SAP delivers the DataSource 0SEM_BCS_10 for the data collection of the leading ledger from the new general ledger into the consolidation. This allows you to set up another data transfer branch to SEM-BCS without affecting the data transfer to the InfoProvider of the new general ledger......'
What is not clear from above is whether we need to use both the data sources or we can manage with 0SEM_BCS_10.
2) Is the BI content statging cube for BCS 0FI_GL_10?
3) I believe that we need to create some other data sources to load data from non-leading ledgers. Are we going to load data from non-leading ledgers to the same staging cube in BW (0FI_GL_C10)? If yes how the data will be differentiated? There could be various sets of data in the same inforprovider for each parallel ledger.
Please advise.

2. No, AFAIK, it's a custom cube.
3. If you use the flex GL why you are going to use non-leading ledger.

Semi-transparent block, pure black and rich black problems

Hi!
I'm new to inDesign, and I'm currently designing a book cover, for which I need some special effects. I'll try to explain as best as I can.
The background is rich black, on top of it I have a text in white (all over it). I applied a block with 80% opacity, in rich black color. I cut out some shapes in it. The point was to have the text in dark gray all over the book cover, but in white in the places where I have the shapes.
Everything is working exactly like I want, but a friend of mine told me if I apply rich black over white, I'll get a kind of magenta gray, so I have to apply pure 100 K to avoid that and get the dark gray I want. I tried that, and of course, applying some pure black block on top of my rich black cover gives all the cover a "grayish black" look. How can I work around that? I tried setting my semi-transparent block to "darken", but it didn't change anything.

There's no need to use transparency to create your background text color—just make a text frame filled with the rich black then select the type and fill it with an 80% tint of the rich black swatch or any other gray mix. Like this:

Here the text is selected and the Colors panel shows the text fill as an 80% tint of the rich black. There's no transparency in this case.
In general it's bad practice to use transparency when you can get the same effect with color fills.
Also if you are worried about the neutrality of the gray check with your printer on whether the gray text should be 4-color (your 80% tint) or straight black (95% black).
The accuracy of the InDesign softproof depends on an accurate monitor profile and the assigned CMYK profile (Edit>Assign Profiles...). The assigned CMYK profile affects the preview including the profiled gray balance. For example the default SWOP CMYK profile previews your 4-color dark gray bluer and as a lighter value than US Sheetfed.

Basics of BCS modelling -
Key figures -
You are generally not permitted to change any properties of the key figures used in SEM-BCS. The only exceptions to this are options that affect the display in Business Explorer and the "Characteristic is document property" setting.
If you want to use your own InfoObjects as key figures for totals records in the InfoCube, consider the following conditions:
1. SEM-BCS supports four roles for key figures in the data stream for totals records: Value in group currency, value in local currency, in transaction currency and quantity. You can assign a maximum of four key figures in the data basis accordingly. If you include additional key figures in the InfoCube, these cannot be processed in the consolidation. You are not permitted to assign other roles, such as 'subassignment,' to key figures either.
2. In SEM-BCS, the values are always stored periodically in the database. Furthermore, year-to-date values or non-cumulative values are not managed separately but result from cumulation in each case over the periods of the current fiscal year up to the current period. (This is a purely technical restriction. The consolidation functions greatly support the process with year-to-date values.) Therefore, you must define InfoObjects as cumulative values. Proceed according to the 0CS_TRN_GC, 0CS_TRN_LC, 0CS_TRN_TC, 0QUANTITY InfoObjects that are delivered.
3. You cannot use referencing key figures in SEM-BCS. If you want to define a key figure with a reference, to transfer the technical properties of the referenced InfoObject identically, you can simply create this with a template instead. However, if you want to use the special BW function linked with referencing key figures (see the online documentation in the BW), enter the referencing key figures in the InfoCube, but assign the referenced key figures to the data basis.
Characteristics
With the following characteristics, you are not permitted to make changes to the properties. Once again, the only exceptions here are the options that affect the display in Business Explorer:

Compounding -
When you define the compounding of an InfoObject, some compound relationships are not supported:
You cannot compound subassignments to consolidation units.
You are not permitted to compound the document type and the (0CS_PLEVEL) posting level.
You cannot compound noncurrent assets and assets/liabilities to 0BCS_ALTYPE. In addition, you cannot compound to a characteristic from the totals cube, with the exception of consolidation units, partners, and so on, and their higher-level characteristics.
ODS objects / Virtual InfoProvider -
You can generate the ODS objects for additional financial data and the virtual InfoProvider from the data basis maintenance. However, you can also create these manually and enter them in the data basis. If you do this, create the ODS objects and virtual InfoProvider with the same characteristics and structure they would have had if generated by the data basis maintenance. You can only deviate very slightly from this.
You are not permitted to include the following InfoObjects in any InfoProvider, unless they are generated by the data basis automatically:
0BCS_AREA, 0BCS_REFPER, 0BCS_REFYR, 0BCS_TASK, 0BCS_TASKGR, 0BCSTASKTY

Time characteristics -

Therefore, there is no maintenance in the workbench, you cannot use the hierarchies or attributes in the functions of SEM-BCS for selections and so on, and you cannot use the attributes or hierarchies for selections in BW queries.

The following InfoObjects may have the values set by default by SAP only . You are not permitted to change them, not even by using the BW master data maintenance:

For these InfoObjects you can only use the tools of the master data service of the Financial Basis to synchronize master data, so the master data is transferred by the SEM-BCS tables to the BI tables, but not the other way round.
Predefined InfoObjects for individual roles
The system automatically uses most of the InfoObjects mentioned here to activate certain data streams. However, there also are some InfoObjects that you must manually enter in the cube for the totals records. Subsequently, you must assign certain roles to these InfoObjects. These roles are allowed for these InfoObjects only, you cannot assign these roles to other InfoObjects.
These are:
0CS_PLEVEL for the posting level role (required)
0BCS_CTFLG for the conversion role (optional)
0BCS_PRGRP for the product group role (optional)
Activate characteristics and key figures from BW Content
Before you create a data basis of SAP consolidation, you have to activate certain InfoObjects from BW Content.

The list of the InfoObjects varies depending on the release. Of course, you do not have to activate InfoObjects that do not exist in your release.
You do not have to activate InfoObjects that are not explicitly specified. However, if you do not activate them, some functions may not be available to you. For example, if you do not activate the 0BCS_CTFLG InfoObject and do not use it for totals records in the InfoCube, the currency translation cannot display any currency translation differences on the initializing data records.
Attributes When you define the InfoObjects in BW, attributes can be assigned to InfoObjects. This results in the following restrictions:
In SEM-BCS 3.1B, 3.2 and 3.5, no InfoObjects that appear in the permanent parameters of a consolidation area or are fixed in a consolidation area may be attributes of an InfoObject used in SEM-BCS.
InfoObjects that are used as a consolidation unit must not have 0FISCVARNT as an attribute.

On this phase you should determine and describe the following:
- sources of data to be consolidated (R/3, flat files, 3rd parties)
- methods of receiving/uploading these data into BW
- the appropriate BW objects (characteristics, key figures, cubes etc.)
- time characteristics to be used (is it enough to have only fiscal chars? do you need the calendar ones too?)
- is data upload to be directly into totals cube? if not - consider the intermediate cube. What kind of data transformation is to be done during upload of data from interim cube to the totals?
- methods of getting data into totals cube (flexible upload, reading from datastream, manual entries)
- will you need additional financial data? if yes, which ones and how will you load this data?
- what types of data you need to consolidate (actual, plan, forecast etc.)
- how many chars will be given the VERSION role?
- plan the number of consolidation areas. The best way is to have the only one. it will minimize the customization.
- how many consolidation units hierarchies do you have (for example, if you need consolidated reports according to management and IFRS structure of the group, then you have 2 hierarchies)?
- determine the structure of the group hierarchies.
- what is the group's currency? is it one currency or several ones?
- determine the currency translation methods for each data type.
- make sure that all consolidation units have the same chart of accounts. if not, consider the mapping or transformation of the numbering of accounts.
- consider the currency translation types for different groups of accounts in the balanse sheet (for example, fixed assets and equity - historical rate, retairned earnings - everage rate, non-monetary items - current rate etc.).
- consider the kind of translation - periodic/cumulative for different data types and reports.
- determine the set of consolidated reports as an output.
- which custom characteristics you need to bring to the totals cube in order to get the reports needed?
- which standard chars you'll have to customize and how exactly (bringing new attributes, customizing the std or creating the custom chars)
- if you'll replace a standard char with a custom one, consider that some another chars may depend on the char to be replaced. it's especially true for a company code. if you use a custom char for a company, then you have to use the reference chars for partner company, investee company, allocation company etc.
- will your consolidation units be one-dimension structure (by company) or it is a matrix one? if the latter, what is the second cons unit?
- will the BCS functionality cover all your consolidation needs? if not, consider the workarounds. reclassification is to be considered as a tool # 1.
It's just an incomplete introduction to the issues to be determined during a blue-print phase.

Safari affected, maybe, malware & virus worries

About 4-5 days ago I was using Mozilla, and now I'm scared I picked up malware, so now mostly only on Safari. Even so, I'm worried about doing online banking until I know what's up. Despite that, I did online banking on Safari today, and the pages wouldn't load, or weren't clickable. Also, I'm getting blank screens on Safari. It all started after this happened a number of days ago, so I want to do a scan…. but newish to the Apple world, so don't want to screw things up even more (potentially) - by installing some incompatible malware/virus scanner.
From the other day:
has anyone's Macbook Pro ever been hacked? I was using Mozilla, just opened a twitter acct, was trying to cross link with G+, and all of a sudden all this weird stuff was happening: url bars erasing on its own (and fast), pages jumping from window to window, 2 unread msgs in Gmail later marked as read. I shut down and restarted. I don't know if it's a key stroke I did or if I may've been hacked. worried.
Most recent thing today: I just went to Dailymotion with Safari to watch a film/video. This never happened on Mozilla (I have adblocker), but I got a popup window in the middle of the video offering something to speed up my mac: I'm not sure if it was macdefender, but I think it actually mackeeper. I quickly closed the Dailymotion tab…. and posted this message.
I would like to do some kind of scan on my mac, but am worried about installing any kind of free software to do this. I'd also want to remove the software when I'm done. So, here's the thing. I'm more of an everyday, casual macbook pro user (10.7.5 OSX, refurbished)… so if responses get too technical, I'm afraid I may not be able to understand everything. Thank you… (also, the Apple store sells virus software, but they won't somehow vouch for it… what's up with that? (I would be willing to buy the lower cost one))….

1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
Don't be put off merely by the seeming complexity of these instructions. The process is much less complicated than the description. You do harder tasks with the computer all the time.
2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. As I wrote above, it changes nothing. It doesn't send or receive any data on the network. All it does is to generate a human-readable report on the state of the computer. That report goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. If you prefer, you can read it yourself without disclosing the contents to me or anyone else.
You should be wondering whether you can believe me, and whether it's safe to run a program at the behest of a stranger. In general, no, it's not safe and I don't encourage it.
In this case, however, there are a couple of ways for you to decide whether the program is safe without having to trust me. First, you can read it. Unlike an application that you download and click to run, it's transparent, so anyone with the necessary skill can verify what it does.
You may not be able to understand the script yourself. But variations of the script have been posted on this website thousands of times over a period of years. The site is hosted by Apple, which does not allow it to be used to distribute harmful software. Any one of the millions of registered users could have read the script and raised the alarm if it was harmful. Then I would not be here now and you would not be reading this message.
Nevertheless, if you can't satisfy yourself that these instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
4. Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
☞ Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
☞ Paste into the window of another application.
☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
☞ Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
5. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode, under the conditions in which the problem is reproduced. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
6. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
7. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
8. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
9. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "Syntax error" or "Event not found," enter
exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
10. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
11. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
[Process completed]
to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report what happened. No harm will be done.
12. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words "Start time." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
13. When you post the results, you might see an error message on the web page: "You have included content in your post that is not permitted," or "You are not authorized to post." That's a bug in the forum software. Please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.

I guess You found the answer in the meantime. Anyway, please check notes 1539356 (Upgrade to NW 7.3 with SEM-BW, FINBASIS, SAP_BS_FND, WEBCUIF) and 1531022 (Deployment options for SAP SEM based on SEM-BW 6.04). SEM-BW 6.34 is the relevant version if one wants to follow the upgrade option to NW 7.3.

Convergence - AlphaImageLoader affects performance

According to the YSlow FireFox extension, Convergence's extensive use of AlphaImageLoader is a detriment to performance.

The IE-proprietary AlphaImageLoader filter attempts to fix a problem with semi-transparent true color PNG files in IE versions less than Version 7. However, this filter blocks rendering and freezes the browser while the image is being downloaded. Additionally, it increases memory consumption. The problem is further multiplied because it is applied per element, not per image.>
Do they really affect performance? If so, what would happen if I stripped them out of the css files?

Semi-Transparency Blues

I’m having problems with semi-transparency in a t-shirt design.
The design includes both a reflection and a satin effect that fade from 0% transparent to 100% transparent. The t-shirt manufacturer’s software, unfortunately, fills the missing area (where there would be a partial image) with a solid color rather than empty space.
Upon speaking with the manufacturer, they recommended “simulating” transparency via dithering, using either a GIF or a PNG converted to an eight-bit paletted file. I understand neither of these concepts, and even the designer who helped me create the shirt in the first place -- awesome guy -- was unable to make much headway.
Would anyone on this forum have any suggestions on how to implement these, please? I’m running out of options, and would hate to have to trash a cool design.

Unfortunately I do not: the manufacturer did not send me a picture of what their software did to the image, so I only have my original. And it's a very large file, at over 100MB (for the layered psd). I could separate out the "problem" layers, but I suspect they would look just like any other file that uses semi-transparency. Apparently this issue affects all images using that technique (unless done via dithering).

Setting Pitch Bend in 12 semi-tones or whatever

Does anybody knows how to set pitch bend using software instrument in Logic?
I use a Roland GTR Synth but I can`t find where to set pitch bend (in 12 semi-tones, for example).
Using Reason I have no problem ´cause I get very clear access to the little window display in every synth module I use but I don`t know where to see same parameters in Logic.

As in reason, it depends on the instrument you're using. Its just that reason is generally a bit more consistent in how it organises modulation parameters on its instrument interfaces. For example, in the EXS24 you do it in the matrix editor bit (not sure if thats what its actually called but its the section which runs horizontally across the centre of the interface). You set the Source (Src) to Pitch Bend and the destination (Dest) to Pitch and use the slider to define (in cents) the range of the pitch you want the wheel to affect. On the ESM there is a disclosure triangle on the bottom left of the interface which allows you to set the bend ranges.

How to create a semi circle swipe?

Hi,
I am quite experienced in Photshop and other elements however I am an absolute novice when it comes to flash.
What I am trying to create is an effect for a logo in which the motif in a semi circle shape which i want to appear in a wipe fashion starting left to right so that in wipe across and the shape appears in full at the end.
The shape in a rainbow....this would also have the company name below the logo which would be visible from start to finish. I have attached the picture of the logo. I would like the gold pot to also appear in the swipe of the rainbow.
Is it possible to be able to create this affect and also could you help me through this as much as possible.

Look into using a mask over the rainbow. A mask will only display what is beneath it. Make the mask a rectangular movieclip with its registration point top center and rotate it so that it gradually covers the rainbow. If you make it large enough and center it under the rainbow and then gradually rotate it clockwise it should give the wipe effect you are looking for. As for the pot of gold, I'd also do that separately with a mask being moved down over it.
If you have no experience using masks in Flash, you should hopefully be able to find a tutorial via Googling "Flash mask tutorial".

SEM-BCS: Merger

Hello Experts,
I have this scenario below:
Two companies will be merging as one company. Both of these companies falls under the same consolidation group.
We plan to use vertical or horizontal merger. However, its not found in the set of COI activity in SEM-BCS.
Is it available in SEM-BCS?
If so, please help provide helpful documentation.

Basics of BCS modelling -
Key figures -
You are generally not permitted to change any properties of the key figures used in SEM-BCS. The only exceptions to this are options that affect the display in Business Explorer and the "Characteristic is document property" setting.
If you want to use your own InfoObjects as key figures for totals records in the InfoCube, consider the following conditions:
1. SEM-BCS supports four roles for key figures in the data stream for totals records: Value in group currency, value in local currency, in transaction currency and quantity. You can assign a maximum of four key figures in the data basis accordingly. If you include additional key figures in the InfoCube, these cannot be processed in the consolidation. You are not permitted to assign other roles, such as 'subassignment,' to key figures either.
2. In SEM-BCS, the values are always stored periodically in the database. Furthermore, year-to-date values or non-cumulative values are not managed separately but result from cumulation in each case over the periods of the current fiscal year up to the current period. (This is a purely technical restriction. The consolidation functions greatly support the process with year-to-date values.) Therefore, you must define InfoObjects as cumulative values. Proceed according to the 0CS_TRN_GC, 0CS_TRN_LC, 0CS_TRN_TC, 0QUANTITY InfoObjects that are delivered.
3. You cannot use referencing key figures in SEM-BCS. If you want to define a key figure with a reference, to transfer the technical properties of the referenced InfoObject identically, you can simply create this with a template instead. However, if you want to use the special BW function linked with referencing key figures (see the online documentation in the BW), enter the referencing key figures in the InfoCube, but assign the referenced key figures to the data basis.
Characteristics
With the following characteristics, you are not permitted to make changes to the properties. Once again, the only exceptions here are the options that affect the display in Business Explorer:

Compounding -
When you define the compounding of an InfoObject, some compound relationships are not supported:
You cannot compound subassignments to consolidation units.
You are not permitted to compound the document type and the (0CS_PLEVEL) posting level.
You cannot compound noncurrent assets and assets/liabilities to 0BCS_ALTYPE. In addition, you cannot compound to a characteristic from the totals cube, with the exception of consolidation units, partners, and so on, and their higher-level characteristics.
ODS objects / Virtual InfoProvider -
You can generate the ODS objects for additional financial data and the virtual InfoProvider from the data basis maintenance. However, you can also create these manually and enter them in the data basis. If you do this, create the ODS objects and virtual InfoProvider with the same characteristics and structure they would have had if generated by the data basis maintenance. You can only deviate very slightly from this.
You are not permitted to include the following InfoObjects in any InfoProvider, unless they are generated by the data basis automatically:
0BCS_AREA, 0BCS_REFPER, 0BCS_REFYR, 0BCS_TASK, 0BCS_TASKGR, 0BCSTASKTY
The following InfoObjects must not be contained in the InfoObject catalog, which is defined in the data basis:

Time characteristics -
SAP consolidation SEM-BCS ignores changes with the 0FISCPER, 0FISCPER3, 0FISCVARNT and 0FISCYEAR time characteristics. If you make changes, for instance, if you create hierarchies or attributes, these are not taken into account by SEM-BCS. Therefore, there is no maintenance in the workbench, you cannot use the hierarchies or attributes in the functions of SEM-BCS for selections and so on, and you cannot use the attributes or hierarchies for selections in BW queries.
Characteristic values
The following InfoObjects may have the values set by default by SAP only . You are not permitted to change them, not even by using the BW master data maintenance:
0BCS_AREA, 0BCS_AUTODL, 0BCS_COISRT, 0BCS_CTFLG, 0BCS_DIDIEL, 0BCS_GWMEM, 0BCS_GWPROC, 0BCS_IPAAC, 0BCS_IPATTY, 0BCS_OBJNR1, 0BCS_OBJNR2, 0BCS_OBJNR3, 0BCS_OBJNR4, 0BCS_OBJNR5, 0BCS_OBJNR6, 0BCS_OBJNR7, 0BCS_OBJNR8, 0BCS_REPMOD, 0BCS_TASK, 0BCS_TASKGR, 0BCS_TASKTY, 0BCS_TAXSUP, 0BCS_TIMMOD, 0CS_COIAC, 0CS_PLEVEL
For these InfoObjects you can only use the tools of the master data service of the Financial Basis to synchronize master data, so the master data is transferred by the SEM-BCS tables to the BI tables, but not the other way round.
Predefined InfoObjects for individual roles
The system automatically uses most of the InfoObjects mentioned here to activate certain data streams. However, there also are some InfoObjects that you must manually enter in the cube for the totals records. Subsequently, you must assign certain roles to these InfoObjects. These roles are allowed for these InfoObjects only, you cannot assign these roles to other InfoObjects.
These are:
0CS_PLEVEL for the posting level role (required)
0BCS_CTFLG for the conversion role (optional)
0BCS_PRGRP for the product group role (optional)
Activate characteristics and key figures from BW Content
Before you create a data basis of SAP consolidation, you have to activate certain InfoObjects from BW Content.
1. You must always activate the following: 0CS_PLEVEL, 0FISCPER, 0FISCPER3, 0FISCVARNT, 0FISCYEAR.
2. If you use documents, you must also activate: 0AC_DOCLN, 0AC_DOCNR, 0AC_DOCTEXT, 0AC_IVDOCNR, 0AC_IVPER, 0AC_IVYEAR, 0AC_OIDOCNR, 0AC_OIPER, 0AC_OIYEAR, 0AC_ORDOCNR, 0AC_ORPER, 0AC_ORYEAR, 0AC_RVDOCNR, 0AC_RVPER, 0AC_RVYEAR

5. The list of the InfoObjects varies depending on the release. Of course, you do not have to activate InfoObjects that do not exist in your release.
You do not have to activate InfoObjects that are not explicitly specified. However, if you do not activate them, some functions may not be available to you. For example, if you do not activate the 0BCS_CTFLG InfoObject and do not use it for totals records in the InfoCube, the currency translation cannot display any currency translation differences on the initializing data records.
Attributes When you define the InfoObjects in BW, attributes can be assigned to InfoObjects. This results in the following restrictions:
In SEM-BCS 3.1B, 3.2 and 3.5, no InfoObjects that appear in the permanent parameters of a consolidation area or are fixed in a consolidation area may be attributes of an InfoObject used in SEM-BCS.
InfoObjects that are used as a consolidation unit must not have 0FISCVARNT as an attribute.

Valuation Of Semi Finished & Finished Materials

I have a querry on valuation of semi & finished goods
Say i have A - Finished ,B - Semi Finished & C - Raw Materials
What will be the Valuation if i run cost run & if i have provisional valuation without running cost run.
I raise a production order for semi - B and issue the raw materila - C to it.Here the raw material is consumed
For the Production orer Fini - A and issue the raw material - B to it.here the actual valuation of B how to account it for the finished goods.
Can anyone tell how this valuation is done if costing run takes place & with proviosnal values.Just how does this valuation affects accounting entries.How the valuation is inventorised.
