  • Semi-Conductor Routing

    Dear Semicon experts,
Wafer fabrication routing is very complex with over 500 operatrion to make wafers from raw material. Do you really define all operation in routing if you are using SAP PP ?
I would assume , routing will be at aggregate level & will be used for costing only. Generally , it is impossible to use it for Scheduling because there are many alternate machine , re-entrant flow( raw material enters same machine for different operation). Shopfloor use some kind of MES software to plan loading of machines
SAP -PP also has problem in capacity intensive manufacturing as to whether to group similar machine as one workcenter or keep each machine as workcenter & model many routing.  Problem intensify with above compleity.
Any workable PP solution implemented for wafer fab?
    thanks in advance

Wafer fabrication routing is very complex with over 500 operation to make wafers from raw material. Do you really define all operation in routing if you are using SAP PP ?
Depends on the business requirements.  You can create a PP solution with as many or as few operations as required.
I would assume , routing will be at aggregate level & will be used for costing only
    This is possible.
Generally , it is impossible to use it for Scheduling because there are many alternate machine , re-entrant flow( raw material enters same machine for different operation).
This is not true.  Strictly speaking, scheduling involves calculating the duration of various operations, and subsequently calculating the start and end dates of these operations.  This is one of the easiest problems for a planning engine to solve.
More complex planning problems involve trying to solve for both capacity constraints and also material constraints in a single solve.  Automagically selecting from multiple possible flows, using complex decision trees, is also a very complex planning problem.  PP does not stack up well compared to some of the more modern planning engines IF such functionality is required.  Luckily, there are thousands of businesses (including Fabs) that have discovered that it is not business critical to have such functionality in their ERP solutions.  These companies happily chug along in SAP PP.
SAP -PP also has problem in capacity intensive manufacturing...
SAP PP, like any software, has problems meeting everyone's business requirements.  SAP PP is  an MRP solution, with a CRP addon.  There are other solutions that have better capacity-related problem solving capabilities.
...as to whether to group similar machine as one workcenter or keep each machine as workcenter & model many routing.
This is not a software problem, this is a business decision.  SAP PP can support the creation of many work centers, or the creation of many routings, or a combination of both.
    Problem intensify with above complexity.
ANY complex problem will require a complex solution.  In general, the more complex the solution, the more difficult and expensive to implement and support.  This rule does not just apply to SAP PP, but also to the more robust planning engines I spoke of earlier.
Any workable PP solution implemented for wafer fab?
SAP PP has been implemented in dozens of Semi companies to plan their Fabs.   Talk to your SAP account rep, and he might be willing to help you arrange to meet with one of his local Fab customers that use PP only.

  • Inter-Organization transfer is not being possible..any workaround?

We were using Inter ORG transfer whiich is a seeded function in Oracle Inv module to transfer material from ORG A to ORG B
    Navigation
    (N)Inventory>Transactions>Inter-Organization Transfer
Now the problem is our items are not centralised. That is For example an item semi-conductors has a different item code opened for ORG A and a different for ORG B
Suppose ORG A code is SCND.000001
and ORG B code is SCND.000002
we have a two segment item flexfield
When ORG A tries to ship to ORG B, it doesnt appear in InterORG form since an item has to be enables in both the ORGS, source and detination, and since opur items are not centralised thats not possib
So what the user does is assigns the itemcode associated with his ORG to the Destination ORG too
Now when the Destination ORG receives the shipment , he has to receive in the new code assigned to him..Now has a result he has two codes which means reporting gets disturbed, history is difficult to find, manageability becomes hard..
Could you please suggesta workaround for this

    Sandeep Gandhi, Independent Consultant wrote:
Any workaround is going to be hard and cumbersome. And that is because you are running counter to the industry practice of having the same item number across for the same item in your organizations? What is the second segment for? Is it a revision of sorts? We have 3 segment item categories
only the first segment is used , ACCS for accessory items, CHEM for chemical items, MECH for mechanical items
and in item, the first segment is used to represent the category the item belongs to
like ACCS or CHEM or MECH
than each new item is incremented by 1 in second segment, like ACCS.000001, next one would be ACCS.000002 and so on
We have more than 150,000 items and duplication cannot be eliminated, but it can be reduced..any advices for it??
    >
One of the workaround will be to receive SCND.0002 and then do a RE-ID transaction (i.e. issue out 0002 and issue in 0001). But you will still need some kind of custom reports /screens if you need to tie the history together.I have already given this workaround but this is not acceptable and effective
Can we use internal requisitions?? i guess we cant without OM? right?

  • How to create multi axis graph with 2 on change of fields and 2 values

    Hi all,
i am working for a Semi conductor company and I have been madated to evaluate Crystal report 2008 in order to include it in our legacy software.
So I have tested the soft and it seems to fit to our need.
    But I have a question...
Here is a scenario i want to create in crystal but I have an error message..
Can you please tell me if twant I want to achieve is feasisible...and if so how ?
    Thank you
I would like to create a percent bar chart that contains 2 on change of fields and 2 show values.
The idea behind in then to have a mutli axis chart in order to print as a line the second values.
So the first values will be my bar chart in percentage and the second value will be a sum.
    Hope my description is cleat...
Thank's in advance for your support...
    Have a good day

There are different ways to achieve that. The simplest i could recall is to have 2 different charts, 1st bar chart and 2nd a line chart, lay one over the other and enable the transparency on the chart which on Top ( say Line ). also, crystal will allow you to control axes etc and make them transparent..

  • FW800 Exteral Hard drive and a port multiplier?

Not sure if i can get my answer here, but hoping someone will point me in the right direction.
Basically I am building my own Storage solution.
    I have an imac.
    FW800
I have an external FW800 drive that I have pulled apart for the FW800 to Sata Bridge
This is then connected to a Port multiplier that should give me 5 Sata ports to then attach 5 sata devices.
The External firewire800 bridge has an Oxford Semi conductor OXUF924DSB-FBAG
PDF details here, this suggests that it is already capable of to SATA dries but te board of course only has one. but also says that it supports port multipling.
The port muliplier I have is a
Lycom ST-126RM SATA II 3Gbps 1-To-5 Port Multiplier bridge board (for Rack Mount)
everything has relevant power supplies attacted. But nothing is showing in the disc utility.
Can anyone point me in the direction of anything tried and test please?
    Many Thanks

What type of device and what do you mean by "doesn't work so good"?
It could be that the FW controller is dying - I've had that happen to me and it caused me no end of trouble until I replaced the device (in my case it was an old LaCie external optical drive).

  • Leave the computer on sleep or turn it off-which is better?

Friend of mine has an intel iMac, I have an iMac PPC-G5. He told me that it's better to ALWAYS leave the computer on. Instead of doing a complete shutdown, one should log out and select sleep. The computer will last longer. Anyone got any thoughts or inside information where I can find out if this is good advice or not? Thank you. Standing by.

I guess I completely disagree with leaving a computer on 24/7 unless it's used as a server as part of a network. I just can't see the sense in leaving a computer turned on when not in use for several hours. I don't leave the TV on, the radio on, or the car running when I'm not using them. If I don't plan to use my computer for several hours (six or more), I shut it down. Doesn't matter how much energy it uses.
During my career at a large semi-conductor company, we all shut our computers off at the end of the day. They lasted for years. The idea of it being hard on the hard drive and electronics to shut it down and then back on is a myth in my estimation. As a matter of fact, it think it does the electrolitic capacitors good to exercise.
My method is to set the "energy saver" to shut the display off when not in use over ten minutes, and shut the computer down at the end of the day. I run scripts manually once per week and repair permissions on the same schedule.
Just an opinion;no proof one way or another...virg

  • Incorrectly calculating hfe/input impedance

    Hello
Multisim calculates wrongly the input impedance of a common emitter stage - judging from the voltage drop on the base resistor network it appears it assumes a hfe of about 10, when the real value is over 500. I used the 2N2222A as a model, and the error is there on multiple transistors with hfes many multiples of 10.
Could you please let me know what I am witnessing here?
    Thanks
    Akis

    Hi All,
I also ran this test and found that the HFE value was around the 220 mark. I wonder if you are looking at a different flavour of 2n2222A transistor? A quick look on google revealed the following components
    Microsemi - HFE between 50 and 100
Philips Semi conductors - HFE 75
    SemiLab - HFE between 100 and 300.
I think the thing to note is that these transistors can have a quite varying value for HFE. If you navigate to the component browser, find the 2N2222A component and click on the button marked "Detail report". You can see that the hFE value will vary between 35 and 300.
    I hope this helps,
    Many thanks,

  • Tracking of Raw Materials

    Hi,
There is a requirement that client wants to track the defective raw materisls(semi conductor devices) that has come from some particular vendors. They want to know from which vendor the material has come. Now there is a way Batch management through which we can do this by getting the PO number for the batch & hence the vendor. But we are not following Batch management in the project. Is there any other way to track.
    Regards

    Hi,
    Try following T.code:
    1.MM60,
    2.WSL7 ,
    3. ME1L,
    4.ME2M.

  • Sound distorted after upgrade to windows 10

sound playing is generalldistorted after upgrade to windows 10 pro. Individual sound elements in windows sound scheme seem to be OK.

Yup, you're not the only one with audio problems. I have a HP Split X2 also, my model is the m121-sa. The problem is that the company that makes the audio chips is IDT which has been sold to a new company called Tempo Semi Conductors (This has been done in early 2014). The new company will have to provide new Windows 10 drivers to support our audio chips, whilst they have made Windows 10 drivers for their newer chips; our old ones has no current drivers made officially for Windows 10. Microsoft are aware of this problem and will not be making any drivers - their solution is to use the Microsoft drivers by unistalling the driver through device manager and updating the driver to the Microsoft High Definition ones. The problem with the HP Split is that you loose beats audio and the audio is quiet, but it works on all apps. NEITHER HP OR MICROSOFT WILL PROVIDE A DRIVER That is above the IDT .6499. It is upto Tempo Semi Conductors to do this and they don't provide end user drivers but OEM's like HP. The problem only lies with metro apps, win32 apps such as Chrome has audio working... If you are having problems with the audio being quiet with the HP Windows 8 drivers (IDT), use the following settings. (though, I think my laptop is defective, but my warranty is gone so, I just turn up the treble - even though it sounds high pitched)  On a side note, my other laptop (Toshiba) have been good by providing drivers for all components - Hopefully, Tempo do provide support for IDT as not only HP but other companies also use this chip. By the way, do you problems with start menu being black and blurrly text? For some reason, Windows 8 drivers don't do this but Intel Windows 10 drivers do this. Miracast also only works on the .37 driver and not the newest Windows 10 driver; will need to test this further. Yes there are new TEMPO drivers, but these again  are for the new chips and not our old ones. It didn't work on my HP Split but you can try them below: http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp71501-72000/sp71717.html - notes for new driver 6.10.6504.0 http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp71501.exe - setup 6.10.6504.0 (64 BIT ONLY; WILL NOT WORK ON 32BIT) 32bit driver is 6.10.6503.0 EDIT: HP seems to be deleting my images. Not sure why.

This topic has been moved to Overclockers & Modding Corner.
    My 3700 SD Ocing progress

    1. No, the pressure should not damage the core. Remember that the IHS transfer any pressure you put on it to the core, so even with it you put pressure on it. The difference is that without it, you can put pressure on it so that the pressure is not applied flat on the core, and that can crack the core.
    2. Overvolting is always a tricky question when it comes to semi-conductors. And there is no easy reply to say; Yes it will be damaged, or No it will not be damaged. What my experience and knowledge in the area of electronics tell me though is this; Overvoltage on semi-conducturs take away time from the amount of time the circuits have to "live". It may be much (causing the circuits to die much faster) and it may be very little. But it will shorten the life-span of the circuit. The question is if it matters. If your chip is reduced to live only 2 years instead of 10, does that matter? perhaps not, perhaps. It all depends on wheter or not you are prepared to purchase a new CPU when this one goes.
As for the temperature. Low temperatures help semi-conducturs survive over-voltage longer. So lower temperatures means that you prolong the life of the circuits. But it does not guarantee that the chip does not suffer from an "early" death. On the reverse end of the spectrum, high temperatures make semi-conductors more suceptible to damage from over-voltage. In general, "safe" over-voltage is usually around +5% to +10% of the default drive voltage.

If you have any information on where I can find any drivers for any of the

    email address: [email protected]

What you might also try is finding drivers for similar models from the same
manufacturer. You don't mention manufacturers in your posting but assuming
that the LC564 is from LeCroy, you could look at the LC574 driver that National
has. Also, don't exclude CVI drivers. These and other "Plug and Play" drivers
can be used in LabVIEW. You won't be able to edit the source code unless
you have a CVI license but the driver might provide all of the functions
you need. Try going to the manufacturers for drivers. Except for Agilent,
most are pretty good about making LabVIEW drivers available for their instruments.
I don't think Agilent will ever have a policy of writing LabVIEW drivers
(not as long as they still try to sell VEE) so you'll either have to write
    your own, use
the Plug and Play driver, or submit a request to National for
    them to write one.

  • Tracking of Inventory in Marble Industry

    Dear Colleagues,
We have a division that produces Marbles Slabs & tiles mostly using MTS scenario.
There are special MTO Orders as well.
The production process is to get a marble block from the mine (quarry) and to use it for producing slabs / tiles.
    Marble Block
This is a semi finished material.
Marble blocks are generally classified into 4 different types u2013 1. Desert Bronze Marble Blocks 2. Silver Marble Blocks 3. Rosa Marble Blocks 4. Desert Gold Marble Blocks
Each marble block has a different Size (M3) and Weight (TON).
Marble blocks are tracked in M3.
    Slabs / Stripes / Tiles
    This is a finished product.
    Slabs / Stripes / Tiles
are produced and classified into 4 types (A / B / C / D) and the price depends on the classification.
Slabs / Stripes / Tiles are measured in M2.
For each slab the size varies.
At present, in factory, inventory is tracked as below:-
    Marble Blocks:-
Inventory is tracked in m3 and also in pieces.
Each block is given a block #.
    e.g. Q1-123 i.e. block from Quarry 1 and block # is 123.
    Slabs
Inventory is tracked in m2 and also in pieces.
Each slab is given as slab#.
    e.g. Q1-123-12 i.e. slab from block Q1-123 and slab # is 12.
    Stripes
Inventory is tracked in m2 and also in pieces.
Each stripe is given an identification number as below:-
    e.g. Q1-123-12 i.e. slab from block Q1-123 and slab # is 12.
This is done for the below purpose:-
    1.     Production manager knows the yield of slabs / stripes from a particular block.
    2.     Production manager knows the yield of tiles from a particular slab / stripe.
    3.     In the end, he can then know what is the yield for a day / period / machine / operation.
As I understand, if we need to model this in SAP, I need to use u201CBatch managementu201D functionality.
However, I have a below queries / concerns:-
    1.     may I know if this is the best practice followed in the industry?
    2.     no of batches would be very high and entering the batch details for every block / slab / stripe would be a cumbersome work. Is there any better way fo achieving this?
Please let me know your views.
    Best Regards,
    ROI_SAP.

    As stated in your posting:
    >We want to track all inventory transfer transaction which are done from u201CTRC Warehouseu201D to u201CRestore Warehouseu201D and whether for the each inventory(from u201CTRC Warehouseu201D to u201CRestore Warehouseu201D ) transfer we have booked corresponding return entry (from Restore Warehouseu201D to u201CTRC Warehouseu201D).
I do believe you only need the report that without match.  It means what you are looking for would be blank for all the last 3 fields.  Is that what you need?

  • Inventory planning in SEM

    Hi Gurus,
I am currently working on Merchanidse and Assortment Planning(MAP), used in Retail industry. I am using NW2004s-BI( BI7) and ECC6. I am doing planning for inventory.
As quite a few of you may be aware, Non-cummulative key figures like stock (e.g. key figure 0CPTOTSTOBU) cannot be used in transactional cubes ( or Real-time info-providers). There is a specific functionality developed to read actual stock ( which is a non-cumulative key figure) from basic info-cube into planning info-cube. This is done using a planning function of type EXIT and uses function modules UPARA_EXIT_COPY_ACTUALS and UPARA_EXIT_INIT_COPY_ACTUALS.
Has anyone done inventory planning in Merchanidse and Assortment Planning (MAP) or SEM-BPS or BW-BPS? Have you seen any how to...document around this?
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Regards,
    Atul

    Hi Raj,
We consider line item detail level planning, the ability to plan at a granular/detailed level for the same set of keys and the addition of a text field 'Detail' greater than 60 characters. See the following example for details.
What planners have today: (SEM-BPS high level planning)
Company code, Cost Center, Cost Element, Version, FY, Period, Amount
    ABC, 1000, 3999, XYZ, 2006, 003, $10,000
What planners would like to have: (Line item detail level planning)
Company code, Cost Center, Cost Element, Version, FY, Period, Amount, Detail
ABC, 1000, 3999, XYZ, 2006, 003, $2,000, Materials for house on the beach
    ABC, 1000, 3999, XYZ, 2006, 003, $3,000, Direct labour for the next 06 months
ABC, 1000, 3999, XYZ, 2006, 003, $5,000, Interest and payments in lieu of taxes
The business requirement sees line item detail level planning incorporated to SEM-BPS. As I said, I do not intend to break the barriers between OLTP and OLAP systems, but would like to learn more about how others dealt with this requirement.
    Thanks and regards,

  • Process Industry- How to map the Scenario?

    Dear Gurus,
The is a Process Industry, Chemical Manufacturing Unit, which does the following sequence of Operation to get the Semi finished material.
    1) Acid, TC, and Catalyst are 3 Raw materials
    2) Acid, TC and catalyst after being put into reactors, they Undergo 2 Phases. Crude and Distillation
At crude phase, Crude is Produced. But they dont want to do confirmation of crude.
At Distillation stage, Main Fraction(MF), a semi-finsihed material is Produced
But at the distillation Phase, 2 more, Products are produced in conjugation to MF.
These 2 Products are Lower Fraction(LF) and Residue.
When these LF and Residue are produced, they again put into reactor and some qty of TC is added to achieve MF which again produces some portion of LF and Residue. And these cycle goes on.
    They keep these process continuing.
In short: MF is derived in 2 ways
    Acid+TC+ Catalyst=MF
    LF+Residue+TC=MF
Please help me in mapping below Points comprehensively.( They want one Order Type for 2 phases.)
    1) How BOM will be made of LF and residue if I treat them as Co-Product??? Or some other technique in SAP can map it?
    2) What is the Step by step Costing configuration of Co-Products. I searched lot but unable to find the proper settlement rule of Co-Products.
    Thanks
    Shailesh Mishra

    Dear Rahul,
As I understand that Co-Products cannot be subjected to movt type 261 and same i have tested in system. So, concept of Co-Product is not applicable here either with Recursive BOM application.
The solution which we have found here is that Client will make one of BOM of Acid+TC+ Catalyst
which will give MF. The concept of Reverse Calculation will be applied. Daily product of LF and Residue will be extrapolated at the Month end. And the LF and residue Quantity will be tracked not from system. Only during month end, LF and Residue Physical Inventory will be taken and it will be treated as Raw materials So, in the Running Process Order 262 will be done of So-called LF and residue. Stock Up(+)
And same Qty of LF and residue will be subjected to 261(Stock Down-) in the next month New Order in form of Raw material.
So cycle of 261 and 262 of LF and residue in form of Raw materials will be Perpetual and settlement of orders will also be sacrosanct.
    Best regards
    Shailesh

  • SEM CPM Scorecards

    Hi,
Does SEM CPM has any standard Scorecards ?
Like BW, BW has standard business content. LIke wise any SEM standard content for CPM. Not SEM related InfoObjects/InfoSources/InfoCubes...
    Thanks in advance,
    GSM.

The SAP SEM Business Content contains industry-specific, predefined scorecard templates that support the introduction of a Balanced Scorecard..
There are Industry-Specific Balanced Scorecard Templates..
    The templates contain industry-specific:
    Strategic themes
    Strategic objectives
    KPIs
    Causal relationships between strategic objectives.
As you have your KPI's activated ..already..only you need to go thru a special workbench (wizard functionality) that guides you by dialog through the definition of enterprise-specific KPI sets.
