Send AT commands to Option iCON 322 3G Modem

I have an Option iCON 322 3G Cellular Modem and would like to check out the AT commands with it, but so far I haven't been able to get terminal to connect to the device. A guide says to use |ls -l /dev/tty*| to find my device locations, and here's what it shows for the modem:
crw-rw-rw- 1 root wheel 11, 8 Aug 15 20:51 /dev/tty.Icon322 App
crw-rw-rw- 1 root wheel 11, 6 Aug 15 20:51 /dev/tty.Icon322 Control
crw-rw-rw- 1 root wheel 11, 10 Aug 15 20:51 /dev/tty.Icon322 Diag
crw-rw-rw- 1 root wheel 11, 12 Aug 15 20:51 /dev/tty.Icon322 Modem
So I tried |screen /dev/tty.Icon322| but it just says "Cannot exec '/dev/tty.Icon322': No such file or directory."
Can anybody help?

I finally figured it out, I had to do screen /dev/tty.Icon322 Control to get it to work.

  • Receiving message"There was a problem sending the command to the program" every time I access a website using a desktop icon via Firefox.

When I click on a desktop icon and access a site via Firefox I get the message "There was a problem sending the command to the program". This started to happen after I downloaded the most recent version of Firefox. I uninstalled Firefox and reinstalled it and the message still comes up every time. The site will come up about three seconds after the message appears but the message is a real pain to put up with. What is the problem? I am ready to dump Firefox and go to Opera.

    Hi,
Before you open any of the applications, please go to Task Manager to see if their processes are stuck there. If so, shut them down and try again.
You can also try starting the applications in Safe Mode to determine if the problem is 3rd-party add-ins related.
Please refer to this article below to learn more:
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-001/support/why-cant-i-start-my-office-2013-application-HA104011864.aspx
As for the Excel problem 'There was a problem sending the command to the program', please note when double-clicking an Excel workbook, a
dynamic data exchange (DDE) message is sent to Excel, instructing it to open the workbook that you double-clicked. If you
turn on the "Ignore other applications that use Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE)“ setting,
the DDE message sent to Excel by Windows Explorer is ignored, and Excel does not open the workbook that you double-clicked.
To automatically solve this issue , we recommend to run “Microsoft Fix it 20074” and follow the steps in the wizard:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/211494/en-us
You can also try to fix it manually by the steps under 'Let me fix it myself'.
If the steps above don't help, we can try to repair Office from Control Panel -> Programs and Features to check the result.

    Hi,
Have you try to un-select the Ignore other applications that use Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE) setting?
Click the Microsoft Office Button, and then click Excel Options.
Click Advanced, and then click to clear the Ignore other applications that use Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE)
check box in the General area.
    Click OK.
If the problem cannot resolve, the Run as administrator may selected.
Go to Office default install location: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12.
    Right-click EXCEL.EXE > Properties >
    Compatibility tab.
Under Privilege Level, uncheck Run this program as an administrator
    check box.

    Hi
    Thank you for using
Microsoft Office for IT Professionals Forums.
From your description, we can Create a trusted location follow these steps
Click the Microsoft Office Button , and then click Excel Options.
Click Trust Center, click Trust Center Settings, and then click
    Trusted Locations.
If you want to create a trusted location that is not local to your computer, select the Allow trusted locations on my network (not recommended) check
    box.
    Click Add new location.
IMPORTANT   We recommended that you don't make your entire
Documents or My Documents folder a trusted location. Doing so creates a larger target for a hacker to potentially exploit and increases your security risk. Create a subfolder within Documents or My Documents, and make only that folder a trusted location.
In the Path box, type the name of the folder that you want to use as a trusted location, or click Browse to
    locate the folder.
If you want to include subfolders as trusted locations, select the
Subfolders of this location are also trusted check box.
In the Description box, type what you want to describe the purpose of the trusted location.
    Click OK.

  • Send Unix Command Miscellaneous/Login template missing

I'm wondering why the " Apple Remote Desktop" Administrator Guide depicts "Login Users"
as an option in the default templates menu of the Send Unix Command/Templates/Miscellaneous/Login users ?
In my actual ARD 3.2.2 Admin, the template menu list skips that command option.
Also during my attempt to implement the osa script for simultaneous logins, I used a 'sudo'
(which I shouldn't have). And now my screen savers won't activate on my login screens.
So now I worry about my screens being burned with the login window image.
Any ideas on how to undo my sudo?

yes, click "user:" and type in "root", then remove "sudo" from your script.
whenever you need to run a script as sudo, use the user 'root' and remove 'sudo' from the script.

  • Using ARD to send UNIX command to add item to dock

The ARD 3 Admin Guide, page 132, says the following command sequence will install an item in the dock of the target computer(s):
    4) Type or paste the following UNIX command (replace /PathToApplication with your own path to the desired application, and be sure to include the application file extension, .app):
    defaults write com.apple.dock persistent-apps -array-add '<dict><key>tiledata</
    key><dict><key>file-data</key>
    <dict><key>CFURLString</key><string>/Path_ToApplication
    </string><key>_CFURLStringType</key><integer>0</integer></dict>
    </dict></dict>';killall -HUP Dock
Use “persistent-others” instead of “persistent-apps” if the item is anything other than an application.
I am unable to make it work. Could anyone help with the correct syntax or suggestions as to how to perform a remote addition to the target computer dock.

Do you have JSS? I ask because your script contains the word JAMF allot.. if you do have a jss, is there a reason your trying to use ARD instead of your JSS to run this script?
When issuing the script from ARD as a send unix command, Have you cosnidered using the option to run command as user "root" ?
are you sure you want to do this? the script look like it dose more then just disable the isite. And do you know how to undo this if you change your mind?

  • Send SSH Command using java

Ok. I hate this, but this is they way they have implemented it. I do not have access to the server code that this applicatio sits on, so I am only able to send specif commands with java through there interface. One of the commands for example is: password_reset "username" "new_password", there is also search_user "username", and uinfo "username". One of the command I really want to send is the password_reset command, but before I can do that I need to establish a ssh connection with username, and password. Not the username or password of the user that I am resetting, but the username and password of a user that has the privilege to reset passwords.
anyway someone said I could just user the execCommand("password_reset " + username + " " + password ) command. If that is true then How do I do the ssh connection? any examples would be great. I have one, but it is not working for some reason.
    Here is the code:
    import java.io.BufferedOutputStream;
    import java.io.BufferedReader;
    import java.io.IOException;
    import java.io.InputStreamReader;
    import com.trilead.ssh2.ChannelCondition;

  • IS THERE A SEND MAIL COMMAND?

I was wanting to know if there is a SEND MAIL COMMAND or something similiar to a SEND MAIL COMMAND that would automatically send a hard coded email message from an ORACLE FORM when a button on that form was pushed instead of opening up MICROSOFT OUTLOOK and having the user enter an email message and then hitting the SEND BUTTON.
I know that this can be done using SMTP code in a WHEN_BUTTON PRESSED TRIGGER. This happens when the last part of the mail host name is the same as the last part of the email address. For example, the mail host name on my PC is
'ERECEMH1-BH.EREC.ARMY.MIL' and my email address hard coded in the program is '[email protected]', the message gets sent. However if the
email address hard coded in the program is '[email protected]' then the hard coded email message in the program does not get sent.
What is causing this to not happen?

Since Im a 21 year retired US Air Force veteran I've decided to help you out.... :)
If you want to send email, with attachments, from an Oracle form implement one of these two methods.
    1) Heres how you send email with attachments from the database for 8i and 9i using smtp..
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/sample_code/tech/pl_sql/htdocs/Utl_Smtp_Sample.html
    2) but, heres a newer/simpler utl_mail 10g method ...
    http://download-east.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/appdev.102/b14258/u_mail.htm
With the first example you will have to change the mail host in the code to a SMTP server in your organazation. I have not used the second newer 10g example but have heard it is easy. If you have 10g database you should probably use it.
From your email it is not clear what you are doing currently? Are you using outlook or are you using SMTP? If you are using SMTP then how exaclty are you doing that?
Disregarding all of the above for a moment... Are you sure its not getting "sent" or is just not getting "received". The email may actually be getting sent to an incorrect address, but since you are doing it, possibly, from outlook, there is no from email address to send the bounced email message back to...
There is no forms send_mail built-in command. Gotta use one of the options above or outlook.
You can call outlook from ole2 or do this...
    web.show_document('mailto:[email protected]?subject=Happy%20Birthday&body=I%20dont%20like%20green%20eggs%20and%20ham');
Using outlook to send email, or any client email software, is generally not a good idea. Its better to setup one of the options above, 1 or 2, and email from the database not the client.
And.. there's even a java mail solution...

  • Send serial command in VBAI based off of calculation

I am attempting to send serial commands through VBAI based off of a previous calculation step. For instance, my application will determine an objects mass center and then determine if it is to the left or right of my origin. From here, I would like to be able to send a serial command based on the left/right result. The command will be sent to an arduino which will controll a servo left or right based on the command it recieves. I think I have everything but linking to serial command to the calculation result figured out here. Any feedback or help with this would be greatly appreciated.

In the Serial step, when you are sending a command (i.e. you press the "Send Command" button), you can press the "Insert Result" button to have the serial command you send out conatin a result from a previous step. There are even formatting options so you can have numeric previous measurements formatting into the string as you want. If you need to send results from other states, you can use variables to pass data between states since the Serial step doesn't currently support accessing results from other states.
    Hope this helps,
    Brad

  • There was a problem sending the command to the program

I get a message "There was a problem sending the command to the program". All of my Excel workbooks!

    Hi
When you double-click an Excel workbook in Windows Explorer, a dynamic data exchange (DDE) message is sent to Excel, instructing it to open the workbook that you double-clicked.
If the Ignore other applications that use Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE) setting is selected, Excel ignores DDE messages sent to it by other programs. As a result, the DDE message sent to Excel by Windows Explorer is ignored,
and Excel does not open the workbook that you double-clicked.
To solve the problem, we recommend you go Office Button /
Excel Options / Advanced, and scroll all the way down to the
General section.  There you will see the “Ignore other applications that use Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE)” setting checked.  Uncheck the box, click OK to apply, and you’re good to go

  • Send Ascii command Through RS232 Interface in labview

    Hello,
I tried to use labview to control the CD2A Compudrive.
Actually I found the driver of CD2A online in the following link
    http://sine.ni.com/apps/utf8/niid_web_display.model_page?p_model_id=266
but however, I still can't use this driver to send the command and adjust the parameter.
p.s. Use only "CD2A Setup" or "CD2A Init" should be enough to set the parameter and command, right?
The command code written in the CD2A Manual is, for example,
<STX>ST600<ETX><LF>   which is Start of Message,Start Position 600 nm, End of Message, Line Feed
I've tried to send this using MAX (Measurement & Automation Explorer), but the signal I got back is
    −1073807298
= Could not perform operation because of I/O error.
For the command in the driver above,
The code is written in number form of ascii format  >> e.g. <STX> = ascii 02
and The Code is written as
    \02ST600\03\r
But sending this code>> nothing happens
Which is quite confusing for me.
    1. Is it general to write \02  to send <STX> signal??
    2. actually <LF> = ascii 10  >> so why does it use    /r         instead?
    3. What should I do, is my format correct???  I can't even send one signal to operate it at all.
Thank you very much for help

A string control can set for 4 different types of display. When you right click on it, you can select Normal, '\' Codes, Hex, or Password. Normal is ASCII character and the unprintable characters such as <STX> cannot be entered. The <STX> is hex 02 so you enter this as \02. The '\' says to interpret the next byte as hex. A <LF> is not ASCII 10 at all. It is hex 0A. For readability, it was decided a long time ago that certain '\' characters could be represented a bit differently. If \n, that was hex 0A. A \r is hex 0D or the CR. You can find documentation on these stand C Escape Sequences. In LabVIEW, you can type \0A into your control and it will automatically convert or \n.
Your other option is to use hex display. You just enter all of the hex equivalents though it makes entering the ST600 a bit more difficult in your case.
I'm not sure if the data entry in MAX is set for '\' Code Display and whether it is interpretting your string correctly. I know that the Basic Serial Write and Read example in LabVIEW is set this way and you might want to try that.

  • Sending alt commands

I am running remote desktop client to login in to a windows 7 machine from an Ipad, the Ipad has a barcode scanner connected to it, for all intensive purposes it is a Bluetooth keyboard.  Does anyone know if you connect a windows keyboard Bluetooth
to an ipad running RDC if you can send alt commands(IE note pad alt f, and alt s will allow you to save)?  When in RDC you have to hit the alt key for each character, so if you wanted to do alt 171 (½) you can't, unless I am mistaken.
If any one knows a solution it would be much appreciated. thanks

    Hi,
If Bluetooth is enabled, a Bluetooth keyboard should be automatically detected.
Due to limitations on the iPhone OS special keys such as Ctrl, Option, and Function will not work as expected. The following keys currently work:
    Alphanumeric keys
    Cursor keys
Tab: Tab works, but Shift+Tab does not work
    Home / Pos1: Alt+Left = Home
    End: Alt+Right = End
Page Up: Alt+Up = Page Up
Page Down: Alt+Down = Page Down
Select All: Command+A = Ctrl+A (Select all in most programs)
Cut: Command+X = Ctrl+X (Cut in most programs)
Copy: Command+C = Ctrl+C (Copy in most programs)
Paste: Command+V = Ctrl+V (Paste in most programs)
Symbols: Alt+Alphanumeric keys will produce different symbols depending on the language configured
Meanwhile, I’m afraid that it is Ctrl+C to save and Ctrl+F to open the search box.
In addition, as a workaround, you can use the On-Screen Keyboard.
Type without using the keyboard (On-Screen Keyboard)
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/type-without-keyboard#type-without-keyboard=windows-7
